InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ I'll miss ya ❯ Chapter 9
I have gotten my computer <lap top> and I have decided to type this chapter up at night… so please don't mind anything that seems a tad bit off… I'm extremely tired and in need of sleep but I don't want to leave my lap top… LOL… Yes I know I'm crazy.
Chapter 9
I woke up in the morning amused at the fact that Kari's lap was still under my head. I knew that I had awakened earlier then I usually do, but still I would have thought she'd be gone by now. It was around 7 a.m. so I went upstairs and took a shower. I had a bit of breakfast and decided that I wasn't in the mood to go to work, I called my boss and told him that I wasn't feeling so good, and that I wouldn't be able to come in that day. It wasn't a complete lie; my neck was in pain from the not so comfortable couch downstairs, plus the elevation of Kari's lap. Since it was so early for me I went back to sleep, on my own comfy bed.
When I woke up again it was around 12, I went down to see if Kari was still home, and as always she was no where to be found. `Where does she go everyday?' I had asked myself over and over. Although I was already used to this. She'd leave me somewhere, like at the mall, she'd leave early in the morning with out saying anything, but that was all fine, since she was much older them I am. I went back up to my `apartment' and turned on my lap top, I turned on some music and my AIM, a few people from school were on, but I didn't bother Iming them, I'd only do so if I needed something, other then that I didn't talk to them and they didn't really bother with me. After a few minutes a message popped up, I recognized the screen name and accepted it. Turned out I was right, it was Miroku, he wanted to know if I'd hang out with him and Inu Yasha today again. I didn't have anything better to do so I agreed. He had told me that Inu Yasha and him would meet me by my house in about a half hour to an hour, I was surprised to find out that he still knew where I lived. I decided to take a quick shower. After the shower I made myself a sandwich and went out on the front porch to wait for them. It was weird but I didn't mind him anymore. Even after everything that has happened I didn't really mind hanging out with him, maybe he did change or maybe it was me who had changed. I didn't really know what was going on anymore. I was going against everything I had believed in and everything was happening so fast. One minute I'm walking down the street and the next I'm hanging out with Miroku and his friends, and then the other two. `What the fuck is wrong with me?! I shouldn't be with them, Miroku hurt me a lot back then, I shouldn't even be talking to him let alone hanging out with him. And since when did I start talking to preps?!' I screamed at myself. I was about to walk back into the house and call Miroku and cancel but he was already there, I was too late. He was standing there in all his beauty waiting for me to say something. But I was stunned; I didn't notice that he was so beautiful. Well I knew this but I had just finally noticed it, why all of the whores are always around him, and why he's so damn popular at school.
"What's up Tori? Is there something wrong? Why are you staring at me like that?" Miroku asked snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked up at him, shook my head and put on a fake smile, as if everything was fine. I knew he could see right threw the smile and see the real me, but I just didn't care at that moment. "Nothing, don't worry about it." I said just incase. He smiled at me and turned to Inu Yasha "So… wanna get it now?" He asked him.
"Yea sure let's go." Inu Yasha said.
"Get what?!" I asked and walked behind them waiting for an answer. After a few minutes of silence and no one telling me anything I snapped. "WHERE ARE WE GOING?!?!?!" I screamed.
"Gods Tori, don't worry you'll see." Miroku finally said. I looked at him pissed off.
"You know I hate it when no one tells me anything. Especially since I'm going with you." I said
"We're going to the store Tori." Inu Yasha said a little pissed off. I ignored his tone and walked on. We walked up to the store and they asked me to wait for them outside I didn't feel like arguing with them so I did, when they came out they had two bags, it sounded like there were bottles in them, then the smell of alcohol filled my nose. I looked at Miroku and he knew it right away that I knew what was in the bags.
"Oh come on Tori, its not like you don't like it." He said
"I'm not in the mood for it… in order for me to want it I have to be pissed off and you know that, and I'm not pissed off." I said as they led the way to another place. "Where are we going now?!?" I asked a bit tired of it all. All I got was a "You'll see" from Miroku.
I don't think Inu Yasha was very happy. He didn't say anything to me at all. It took us a while to get there, when we finally did I looked around there was grass all over the place; I figured it was an old docking place since there were docks everywhere. Other then that the whole place was mostly grassy. I noticed beer bottles everywhere. "I see you two come here often." I said kicking an empty bottle away from the spot I wanted to sit at.
"Not really, just now and then." Miroku said.
Miroku took out the bottles and was handing one to me. I didn't want to take it. "Miroku no, I'm not going to drink today. I don't want to." Was that enough to get him off my back? If I had ever thought it would be I was wrong.
"Come on Tori, for me." Said another voice, one that hasn't said a word to me today.
"Why for you?" I asked stunned at his choice of words, as if I would drink for anyone but myself. I saw Miroku shake his head and Inu Yasha nod, I got even more confused at their exchange.
"Because--" Inu Yasha started only to be interrupted by Miroku
"Inu Yasha, don't." Was all he had said to his friend. I wondered what they were both talking about and then I thought of why Inu Yasha and I never fought, I remembered what Kari's mother had said to us when we were younger `when two youki love each other, even if they are of a different breed and you would never think of them to get along perfectly they would, like for example in both of your cases a kitty and a dog, you would never fight. You'd get along perfectly --' my thoughts were interrupted when I saw a beer bottle being waved in front of my face. Now I had begun to think, something that never had a good outcome. I hated being left in the dark with only my thoughts. I hit the bottle away with my hand, I wasn't up for it, but I knew Miroku would get me to drink it no matter how much I didn't want to, he'd always have a way with things, his way with things.
"Either one of you tell me what's going on or I jump to conclusions which you Miroku know isn't that good. So Talk, NOW." I said hating the silence that was left after I said it.
"Oh God Tori, its nothing like that." Miroku started.
"And how would you know," Inu Yasha said to his now wide eyed friend. "You don't know what I feel; you don't know what its like to be like me. You don't know what its like to feel so old. Tori how old are you? I mean your true age."
"60." I said a bit confused at what he had just asked me and then looked down for feeling like one of them old humans. Not many knew my real age; the only ones were Kari's parents and Kari herself of course. And now these two, I hated the real age, it always made me feel much older then I looked. By my looks people had thought I was always much younger. "What about you Inu, how old are you?"
"71 in dog years." He said sadly.
The sharp realization of my birthday being only a month away filled my already hurting head. I thought of the fact that Kari was 10 years older then me and how that must be on her, although I had never heard her saying anything about it, maybe she's fine with it. But I'd hate to be 76. Although I loved the advantage of going to a bar, there was no need of me showing an ID it was obvious that I was older then 21. Although we haven't been to one in a while, I gotta get Kari out next weekend, I never see her and the bar is a place where we always have some fun. I smiled to myself hoping no one saw that but Miroku being Miroku did notice it.
"What are you smiling about?" He asked
"Oh nothing, just the simple fact that you cant get into a bar and I've been going to one since before you were even conceived." I laughed at my explanation. The alcohol was standing there taunting me for some time now and I wanted to drink it, looking from Miroku to Inu Yasha and grabbed a bottle. I gulped it down fast. I looked up at them and they were staring at me wide eyed. "That was for you, Inu." I said "and trust me I hardly ever drink for someone, the only person that I drink for is Kari… And she's family." I grabbed another bottle "and this one's for me… Because after talking to you I feel like shit. Never ask me my damn age again." I gulped down another bottle and was somewhat satisfied. I saw no other point of staying there so I turned to leave, and felt a hand on my own. The grip was too strong to be Miroku's so I figured it was Inu Yasha. "Let go, Inu Yasha." I said threat lacing in my voice.
"Leaving so soon?" He asked sadly. "Why would you want me to stay?" I asked "It's not like I'm going to drink anymore. And I see no point of staying just to watch you two get drunk."
"Well then…" He said loosening his grip a bit "you may go, if you want. Although I'm sure Miroku would be pretty sad to see you go." The mentioned boy looked up and looked at us, as if he didn't even know we were there. He was sitting there drinking his alcohol I looked at him and shook my head. "You're such an alcoholic Miroku."
"Heh, you know Miroku, she's right. You're the only one that I know that drinks this little and gets drunk so fast." Inu Yasha said to the drunken boy. All that came out of him was a "meh" and he continued drinking. It was disturbing, seeing a human that was close to me lose himself to alcohol so damn fast.
"What ever man, I'm going home. There's nothing for me to do here, so yea… I'll see you guys later." I said grabbing a bottle before I left. Inu Yasha smiled at me when he saw what I had done. "It's so he wont get too drunk, and you too." I said winking at him and left.
When I got home it was around 4 p.m. and Kari was still no where to be found. I went up to my room and turned on my lap top. As soon as I signed on to my AIM a message popped up from "CUtheRE FAN"
`Hi Tori.' It said
`Who's this?' I typed in
`Kagome & Sango. We were wondering if u'd want 2 hang out.'
`Well… I did just get home, but yea sure. It's not like I have anything better to do anyway.' I think that was a bit too mean, but I didn't care it was the truth. `When & where shall I meet you?'
`By the park… in about …. 30 min.'
`k I'll see you two there.' I said and closed my computer. I decided to take a fast shower and with my speed I would get there in time. After the shower I braided my long hair in the back and went to the park. When I got there Kagome and Sango were already there.
"Hey… Sorry." I said touching my already dry hair. `Must have dried while I ran here' I thought
"No worries." Sango said "We just got here ourselves."
I looked around the park I've always gone to. It was big; a few swings here and there, sandboxes for the kids, baby swings, a big field in the middle where people usually had picnics and other things. There was a hand ball court, a basket ball court and a baseball field at the far end of the park. Of course as always there was a path for rollerblades and bicyclists.
***** Flashback *****
"Kari watch out!!!" Tori screamed out.
A guy on a bike was heading towards Kari who was on her own bike. Kari saw him and panicked. She always hated riding a bike but Tori had always somehow managed to get her to go along with her. "I hate you Tori." She screamed out as she tried to get out of the way. "I love you too." She smiled at her best friend. Just then a crash was heard. "Kari!" She screamed out and jumped off her own bike. "Are you ok?" She asked as she ran up to her. "Yea, fine. I think there are a few scratches but their going away." Kari answered. "Why exactly didn't you get out of the way?" Tori asked
"I tried, but in the end I turned the wrong way." Kari explained.
"Well you're ok… but that *points to what used to be a bike* sure isn't."
"Eh, its ok. I'll get a new one."
"Hey where's that guy? Is he ok?"
They looked around and noticed he was still lying on the ground, they ran over to him.
"Hey you ok?" Kari asked
"Yea fine." Answered a brown haired crystal eyed guy. He looked like he was around 18. Kari looked at him and noticed his pointy ears. She put her pink hair behind her ears making sure her own pointy ears were seen. She inhaled silently `wolf demon' she thought and smiled.
"What are you smiling about, little kitty?" He asked a bit harsher then he meant for it to be.
"Nothing, it's just a good thing we're not human, other wise they'd have to take us to the hospital and I bet we'd die there anyway." She said looking at the people passing by.
"Yea well they half ling would be hanging on to dear life if I had crashed into it." He said giving Tori a dirty look. Kari shot him a death glare and started to walk away.
"How can you be friends with a disgusting thing like that?" He said after her.
"She's not disgusting, we train together and that makes her stronger then the half demons around here. We've been training together since childhood so shut the hell up and leave her alone."
"Yea but the human blood still runs through it." He made a disgusted face.
""Watch it wolfie." Tori and Kari said together.
"Or what half breed? What are you going to do? Scratch me with your little pathetic claws?" He said
Tori shrugged "I'll just have to rip your head off… With out anyone helping me." She was starting to really hate him and she didn't even know him. All she knew was that she hated being called anything that had to do with a `half breed' and this guy had called her a `half breed' and a `half ling' and she was ready to rip his head off.
"Look at you, a kid no older then 15 claws painted black, your eyes glowing yellow from anger, half breed lines running along your body. You look like your about to rip my head off. Oh mommy I'm about to shit in my pants." He laughed
Tori's claws started growing longer and longer, she felt a hand on her shoulder and relaxed as she realized it was Kari.
"How can you protect that shit?" he asked surprised
"Look kid, she's not just my best friend she's like a sister to me we grew up together and I love her. And there's nothing that can change that."
**************************** End of Flashback ************************************
"Hello… Tori…Anyone in there?" Sango said waving a hand in front of my face.
"Yea... Sorry, I just remembered something."
"By look on your face it looked like it was something good." Kagome stated.
"Well then you don't know much about expression." I said and turned to look the other way. I saw Miroku and Inu Yasha walking back from the place they were at before. Miroku saw me and said something to Inu Yasha they started walking towards the park. I noticed Miroku pointing to a near by bench.
`Shit' I thought. `Just what I needed to see those two…'
Kagome heard a low hiss and looked at me.
"Oops sorry didn't mean to do that. Come on lets go on the swings." I said walking toward the swings. They followed without a word. I looked over to the bench Inu Yasha and Miroku sat at and found they weren't there anymore.
`Great' I thought `Now… oh… Let's forget that dumb question' I sniffed the air and found the two walking behind us.
"Inu, Miroku… Are you two dumb or something?' I screamed not turning back to look at them. "Have you forgotten I'm half cat?" I turned around and jumped up to a tree they were hiding behind.
"Fuck… Miroku, I told you this was a dumb idea." Inu Yasha said
"Yea well its better then yours." He shot back.
"Feh whatever. So Tori… What are you doing here with those two?" Inu Yasha asked
"Nothing, I just got here." I said
"Better be nothing." Miroku said
"What's that suppose to mean? Those two are the only two humans who have accepted me in a long time. Other then you of course."
"Lies! They wouldn't accept a cow, let a lone a half demon." Miroku yelled.
"Yea well at least cows don't grope every chick they see." Sango yelled from behind me. I didn't even realize she was there. "And hey living up in the mountains, I'm used to seeing demons and half demons. Although being a demon exterminator I should kill them… But I've learned how to tell apart the nice ones from the evil ones."
"What about you wench, why is it that you're hanging out with Tori all of the sudden?" Inu Yasha asked
"Stop it the both of you! You can't tell me who to hang out with!" I yelled, my eyes glowing yellow.
"Shit Tori we're only looking--" Miroku just stopped talking when he saw me. I guess an image like that is unforgettable, a chick with glowing eyes and gray lines appearing all over the body.
"Shit you got gray lines on your body… I know those markings… you're their kid!" He said "You're the kid of that couple that was killed 100 years ago. But my parents told me that the kid died… And you're mom was with child… A little boy they say…" He stopped when he saw the tears that were threatening to spill… "I was just a 5 year old kitten… I haven't had the time to bring anyone harm… And my unborn brother he hadn't done anything to anyone… And my mother, she was human she wouldn't hurt anyone… So why?! Why them… Why my family…" Inu Yasha came up and hugged me. I was surprised by this, usually no one wants to touch an enraged half breed, and here out of no where he's holding me.
"I'm sorry Tori…" He said hugging me tighter. I still think he likes me… No one hugs someone the way he hugged me and feels nothing towards the other person. It was a strange thing, he was the only one that hugged me, Miroku just stood there not moving, I think he was surprised by it or something and Kagome and Sango were the same as Miroku. The last person who has hugged me with such passion was Jake, and that was a good 3 years ago… This felt nice; I wanted to stand there like that the whole night. It would have been nice to, but he let go. I looked up at him and wondered what was wrong. "I shouldn't have done that." He said "I gotta go… I'll see you tomorrow…" He left in a hurry. I was left standing there forgetting there was anyone around me staring at the spot he was standing at a second ago. I was sharply brought back to reality by a hand on my ass. This would never have happened in a million years if I wasn't off in my own little world. I hit Miroku in the face turned around and said "I should be going. I still haven't done my homework and yea whatever. I'll see you guys tomorrow." I turned around and left.
Sorry it took me so long to write this… I've been a bit busy, I had to go to work and crap and I just finished it… So yea…. This chapter was being written the whole damn month… if not longer… I hope you like it =)….
