“This way please” Sesshomaru instructed to Rin's family, he pulled the chair for Rin while her father pulled the chair for her mother. “I'll ask a waiter to bring you your menus”

 

“Mom, I need to go to the bathroom” Rin said as she got up, her mother immediately stood up.

 

“I'll go with you” she shook her head.

 

“No, that's fine… I'll go by myself” her mother, unconvinced by her words nodded and Rin smiled. “I'll be right back”

 

Rin walked her way to the bathroom but before getting there, she stopped at Sesshomaru's office. She stood at his door watching him look out the window, she wanted to leave without an explanation but before she could do anything, she bumped with someone at the door. Kagome looked at her with a small smile and Rin got a bit scared. Although she didn't want to think about it, the thought crossed her mind. `Is she his girlfriend?' she asked herself but shook her head. `If she was, do you think he would have asked you out?' Rin smiled but it vanished when she caught Sesshomaru's gaze on her.

 

“Hey, Sess… can I leave early? My boyfriend is here and I really want to be with him right now” he rolled his eyes before nodding. “Thanks a lot, see you tomorrow”

 

Rin mentally sighed. `I knew it; Sesshomaru would never do something like that to me… I shouldn't be feeling threatened by other girls that might be more attractive, if Sess would have wanted them he would have asked them out… right?' she was about to answer herself but just then she saw her handsome boss standing right in front of her.

 

“I tried to let you know but my cell phone run out of battery and I…” he held up his hand and she immediately stopped, she sighed.

 

“Why didn't you tell me you were still living with your parents?” she looked at him confused.

 

“Wait… you're not mad because I didn't come here for the show?”

 

“No, I'm mad because I like you but I don't want to date a child” Rin was surprised and blinked twice.

 

“A child? Sesshomaru, I'm 19”

 

“I'm 30 and I thought you were independent, why are you working if you can still live from your parents' money?” she looked at him disappointed.

 

“I don't know, maybe because I do want to feel like I have control over my life even though I don't like the career I'm studying and the only time I have to feel like myself it's when I'm around you but you still consider me a child but isn't it childish from you to think that I shouldn't be working when my parents still support me?” they stared at each other for about a minute before Rin gave up, she sighed heavily. “I'm going back to my table”

 

“Rin… wait” she stopped at the door and turned around to see him. “I'm sorry, okay? I didn't expect this to happen… I assumed that when you asked for this work it was because you needed the money, I did not want my question to sound immature or as silly as it sounded… so, once again I'm sorry”

 

“Apology accepted” she said and he grabbed her hand.

 

“It's your birthday, isn't it?” she nodded. “I think I should give something to the birthday girl, close your eyes”

 

Rin closed her eyes as she waited for her present, she had been waiting for him to ask her about it and when the question came out of his mouth she was about to scream out of excitement. Since her date with him, she had been wanting to touch his lips with hers and when that night he simply hugged her, she thought he might been saving it for a special occasion.

 

“Alright, open them” Rin opened them and saw a rose in front of her; she smiled although it wasn't what she wanted.

 

“Oh... it's very pretty, thanks” he smiled and she grabbed it. “I should go back, my mother might be going crazy out there… thanks again”

 

“You're welcome, by the way… are you busy tomorrow night?” she nodded.

 

“I have some live entertainment to perform, remember?” she giggled and walked out the door.

“Damn it, Kagome… why can't I get you out of my mind?” Inuyasha mumbled aloud as he tried to make a new recipe.

 

Once Inuyasha watched her walk out that door, he couldn't stop thinking about her. It was the only thing bouncing on his mind, her name, her face, her voice and more. He poured the shrimps he was boiling in a large pot; in the pot he added mustard, pepper, white wine, garlic and soy sauce. After mixing it for a few minutes, he added half a glass of water and tasted the result of his mix. Inuyasha thought it needed salt but before he could add some he tried with more pepper and it was just what the mix needed, he smiled proudly and got a plate for him.

 

`You might like this Kagome, with your amazing cooking abilities I'm more than pretty sure that this must one of the most delicious things you've ever tasted' he thought and hit his head. `Stop it moron, you're starting to act like a jerk… no, not a jerk… you act like a girl, the only thing you're missing is the box of chocolates and a cheesy TV movie' he sighed. `Again with the sighing! That is for girls who think about their boyfriends or the guys they like! You are a man! You are tough, you don't do girly things!' his mind said, he looked around and noticed that he was in a kitchen. `Cooking isn't for girls only so don't you dare to contradict me! Besides, you like to cook… why else would you have formed this restaurant with your brother? Don't you worry, you're not a fag'

 

“Yeah but I'm going crazy”

 

“Finally, you admit it” he looked at the door and found his brother. “What have you done?”

 

“A weird shrimp mixture, tastes pretty good” Sesshomaru grabbed the fork and took a shrimp to his mouth. “What do you think?”

 

“A bit spicy but it has a pleasant flavor” he said and grabbed some more. “What will you name it?”

 

“I don't know… spicy shrimp?” Sesshomaru chuckled.

 

“It needs a catchy name; we could make it our specialty” Inuyasha nodded.

 

“I'll think about a name tomorrow, I need to sleep you know… I'm not a fucking cooking robot” his older brother chuckled again.

 

“Kagura stopped here earlier, she wants me to sell her our restaurant” Inuyasha looked at him horrified. “I'm not going to sell it; Kagura will not take the only thing I have and I don't wish to see her again… next time she shows up, you'll deal with her”

 

“Fine, I'm not afraid of her unlike you” Sesshomaru rolled his eyes. “I think she's scared her restaurant might fail and she wants to buy our restaurant to eliminate competition”

 

“I'd like to think that way” he sighed.

 

“Think about it while you're driving back home, I'll clean everything up” his brother nodded and walked out the door.

 

“Try not to take that long and to be here ear…” he said outside the kitchen but immediately as the thought came to his mind, he came back in. “You haven't missed work lately, why is that?”

 

“I'm just trying to set an example to my employees” Sesshomaru looked at him skeptically.

 

“Isn't it because… Kagome?” Inuyasha stopped cleaning the pots and turned to look at his brother.

 

“Of course not, I realized that I shouldn't be abusing of my power as an associate of this restaurant” his older brother shot him the same look.

 

“Alright, I have my secrets… you have yours, just remember that she's engaged” he sighed.

 

“Why the fuck does everyone have to remind me that?!” he yelled hysterical and Sesshomaru smiled.

 

“Because you don't want to make something stupid, goodnight Inuyasha” he walked out the kitchen and Inuyasha sighed heavily.

“Don't!” she laughed as he kissed her neck. “Kouga! I'm 5 minutes late to work and I have to drive there half an hour to get there”

 

“Call in sick, this is one of my only free days… enjoy it with me” he nibbled her neck and she laughed more.

 

“I wish I could but I have to get up… Sess is not going to like this” she said as she kissed her boyfriend. “I promise you I'll come early tonight and make you dinner and then we'll watch your favorite movie and then we'll go to bed… sounds good to you?” he shook his head.

 

“I rather have you here all day next to me” he pulled her closer to him. “But if you want to go to work so bad… I'll let you, okay? You'll stay another 5 minutes with me”

 

“No… Kouga… I told you I'm very late” she said as she tried to get free from his grasp, he simply caught her arms and stopped her before kissing her. “Please darling… what if I get fired? Can you live with that?”

 

“No, but I could try” he nibbled her neck and she laughed.

 

“Okay, okay…” she stopped laughing and pushed her boyfriend. “I'm serious; I have to get a shower and get to work as soon as possible”

 

“Fine… then I'll join you to shower” she shook her head as she laughed.

 

“If you do I'll never get to work, now be nice and stay in bed” he shrugged his shoulders.

 

“If you insist” she laughed again and entered the bathroom.

 

Kagome had to shower as fast as she could; she changed her clothes with the first thing she found in her closet which was a black strapless shirt and a white mini skirt. Before running out of her apartment, she kissed her boyfriend's cheek and grabbed her car keys. She drove as fast as she could without caring if she got a ticket, thankfully she didn't get one and got to work in exactly 15 minutes. She parked her car and just when she was about to open her door, a woman with scarlet eyes showed right at her window. Kagome got scared but tried to pretend she was cool; she got out of her car.

 

“Is your name Kagome Higurashi?” she nodded and the woman smiled. “I'm the owner of Shichi'nintai, the restaurant over there”

 

“Oh yes, I've heard about it”

 

“Well, my name is Kagura and we are opening today… I was thinking that maybe you would like to work with us…” Kagome opened her mouth but the Kagura shook her head. “You don't have to answer right away, think about it”

 

She kept her glare on Kagura until she disappeared, there was something weird about her because Kagome knew that not everyday a person from another restaurant came to offer you a job position at least when you are not asking for it. She entered to the kitchen and got her apron on; Kagome noticed that no one was there except for Sango.

 

“Where's everyone?” she asked and Sango stopped peeling potatoes.

 

“Talking to Sess, notice something weird today?” Kagome looked out the kitchen door and notice no one at the restaurant. “We already open and Shichi'nintai is taking all of our costumers”

 

“All of them?” Sango nodded. “Then why are you cooking?”

 

“I didn't have breakfast today” she smiled. “Did you get a job offer?”

 

“I guess everyone else got one” Sango nodded once again. “Who was that woman and why is she doing this?”

 

“I don't know… you have to ask Inuyasha, he seems to like to talk to you” she said bitterly and Kagome faked a smile.

 

“I'm really not in the mood to ask him or I doubt he would like to talk to me” she heard the door opening and saw Inuyasha coming in.

 

“Sango, go home… we are closing for today, we'll look for a solution” she nodded and left. “You came a bit late, don't you think?”

 

“I'm sorry” he shook his head.

 

“You shouldn't have bothered… leave, you heard the good news, go home” Kagome sighed.

 

“No, I'll stay here” he looked at her surprised. “I think I owe it to you, even though you made up that stupid lie about my boyfriend… I don't want to leave you alone now”

 

“Right, that lie” he sighed. “I don't feel like arguing right now Kagome so just leave me alone”

 

“I'm not going to fight you, I want to help you out cooking… I know that's what you always do when the restaurant closes and… knowing you, you're about to do the same right now”

 

“You are a great spy but I don't feel like dealing with you right now” she sighed.

 

“Don't be so stubborn and arrogant, accept my help” he looked back at her and chuckled.

 

“You want to help me? Alright, I'll let you do that… if you tell me why” she blushed.

 

“Because… this is my second week here and I don't feel comfortable missing work today” he smiled.

 

“Try another one” he whispered as he walked closer to her and touched her hair lightly.

 

“I was thinking about… preparing a new… dish… you know to… get back our… costumers” she said as she felt his lips touch lightly her neck, unlike when Kouga kissed her neck, Inuyasha's kisses made her stomach twist and her heart beat faster.

 

“Doubt it, you got one last chance to convince me or…” he kissed her collar bone. “You're out”

 

“I… because I…”

 

Kagome felt him stop and then saw his face in front of hers, she wanted to push him away but another part of her wanted to kiss him as much as he wanted. Inuyasha moved closer to her, his lips were an inch away from hers.

 

“I… forgot my coat” Sango said and Inuyasha quickly pulled away from her. “Shouldn't you be going home, Kagome?”

 

“Shouldn't you be minding your own business AMP?” he asked and she sighed.

 

“She's right… I should go; my fiancé is waiting for me”

 

Inuyasha sighed and watched the two girls walk out the door, Kagome was very thankful to Sango for stopping her from making the biggest mistake of her life. She walked calmly to her car when she felt someone grabbing her by her shirt. Kagome looked back but she wished she didn't because she saw the face of a very angry Sango staring back at her.

 

“Inuyasha isn't interested in you so you better keep your eyes off of him” she hissed.

 

“I'm not interested in him… I have a…”

 

“I thought you weren't a problem due to that but you're more dangerous than I thought and… I don't like they way you two are getting, try to change that” Kagome sighed as she watched her walk away.

 

“I thought you had a boyfriend, Miroku?” Sango looked back at her a bit surprised.

 

“Yes and no” she replied. “I don't want to see you that close to him, understood?”

 

Kagome sighed heavily as she watched Sango walk away. Kagome got inside her car; she touched her neck and remembered the soft kisses Inuyasha had planted there just a few minutes ago. Kagome smiled before quickly pulling away her hand and taking away her smile. `You have a boyfriend… stop doing that… I don't want to do the same as Sango, loving someone and giving fake hopes to another one' she thought as she drove back home. `Nice thinking Kagome, just one question… who are you giving fake hopes?' Kagome stopped there; it was a question not even she knew how to answer.
