InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ I'm Here Without You ❯ I'm Here Without You ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

A young man, with long silver hair sat in the middle branches of an ancient tree referred to as the Goshinboku. His hair went down past his waist, and hung free, his bangs were long enough to hide his eyes if he bowed slightly. He had silver puppy ears atop his head, that drooped slightly due to his mood. His golden sun colored eyes were half open as he looked out towards the meadow that he knew an ancient well stood, one that lead to her time. He wore red hakama, and a red haori. His rusty katana sat in it's sheath at his hip. He had one leg propped up on the branch, and the other was dangling gently, as he was leaned back against the trunk of the tree.
He glanced down hearing his companions move a little.
The Monk that was with him, sat beneath the tree meditating, as the Taijiya woman sat polishing her Hiraikotsu.
Shippou, the Kitsune pup, of their little pack, he had lifted a black drawing stick from Kagome's backpack. He'd heard her call it a permanent marker, he thought. The pup was drawing on the monk's arms, as he sat there meditating, oblivious to the attentions the pup was giving him.
A secret that was well kept from Kagome was that her Hanyou boy could sing…
A melody crept into his mind, and he went with it… “A hundred days have made me older, since the last time that I saw your pretty face, a thousand lies have made me colder. And I don't think I can look at this the same, but all these miles that separate, disappear now when I'm dreaming of your face…” His rich tenor sang softly.
The Taijiya looked up at him, smiling softly. Her brown eyes sparkled, she knew he was in love with her friend, the girl from the future she considered a sister.
It had been close to four months since any of them had seen Kagome. They still had Naraku to defeat, and half the Shikon no tama to find, but it had been five years since they had started their quest. Kagome was trapped in something called College, for about another month and a half, then she'd said she'd have about two weeks to spend with them, do to something called winter break.
I'm here without you baby, but you're still on my lonely mind, I think about you baby, and I dream about you all the time, I'm here without you baby, but you're still with me in my dreams, and tonight it's only you and me…” The hanyou called Inu Yasha sang. He'd visit her in the evenings, but she'd asked he not to. He knew she'd sit him into the ground if he didn't respect her wishes, so he didn't have much of a choice.
The miles just keep rollin', as the people leave their way to say hello, I've heard this life was overrated, but I hope that it gets better as we go, I'm here without you baby, but you're still on my lonely mind, I think about you baby, and I dream about you all the time, I'm here without you baby, but you're still with me in my dreams, and tonight girl its only you and me…” Inu Yasha continued. He looked down to see that the Kitsune pup had drawn interesting pictures all over the monk's arms, mostly of the Kitsune's favorite Cat, Dog, and Wolf.
The demon slayer was trying not to laugh at the monk, as she moved to sit beside him, leaning back against the tree.
Everything I know, and anywhere I go, it gets hard but it wont take away my love, and when the last one falls, when it's all said and done, it gets hard but it wont take away my love, I'm here without you baby, but you're still on my lonely mind, I think about you baby, and I dream about you all the time, I'm here without you baby, but you're still with me in my dreams, and tonight girl its only you and me…” He sang softly, then took to humming the melody softly to himself.

A few hours later the sun had set, the Monk had refrained from doing anything to the Kitsune, and the Taijiya had gotten groped again, by the Monk as they headed back to the village.
Inu Yasha leapt to the ground. He walked softly towards the well. He couldn't help wondering if this was how she felt when he used to go off with Kikyo. A year ago Sango had solved the problem, and had accidentally taken out the undead priestess, with the Hiraikotsu, when the huge boomerang had been deflected by the demon that they were supposedly saving Kikyo from. After much reasoning from the monk Miroku, and Kagome, along with the old woman Keade, he had forgiving the demon slayer - Taijiya, Sango.
He honestly missed Kagome, the sits, her scent, her attitude, her smile, her heavy back pack, her concern. He sighed as he sat down cross-legged, facing the well, he crossed his arms and set them on the lip of the well, setting his chin on them. Some of her comforting scent still lingered here. He lost himself in his thoughts, he wanted her back, and after all they had waited they would only get her back for two weeks, he wasn't satisfied, and he wouldn't want to let her go back, they would spend most of the time catching up, and they wouldn't get on with their quest, and he wouldn't get to spend any time alone with her… He sighed, as he unconsciously let sleep take him. He hadn't been sleeping or eating very often since she left, and he knew that if she knew, she'd sit him, and force feed him Ramen.
He smiled softly, in his dream she was back, the evil college demon had released her, and she wouldn't have to go back to her time except to visit her family. They would be able to finish their quest and they could find that happy ending that Kagome had been telling him about.
He woke with a low growling rumble deep in his chest, as his head instinctively leaned into the gentle caress of some one that was stroking his ears. The growled turned threatening and in seconds he was standing on the opposite side of the well, flexing his claws.
The woman, with long onyx black hair, and beautiful blue eyes giggled. She wore a denim skirt, and a hooded sweat shirt, along with sneakers, as she covered her mouth her eyes dancing with laughter.
He saw her, but he didn't trust his eyes. He lifted his face a little letting his nose catch the scents on the breeze. It was her, his Kagome was back! It was near midnight, but from the strength of her scent he knew she was really here. He leapt back, landing in front of her. “Please stay?” He asked.
“Why?” She teased him.
“Fine, go…” He growled, crossing his arms and looking to the side.
“Inu Yasha…” She hugged him, laughing softly. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too…” He said softly, moving to put his arms around her, he held her tightly to him.
“I'm back, I just want to visit my family every once in a while, but we need to finish this quest.” She said softly.
Inu Yasha froze, his ears perked up, and forward, trained on her.
She released him, and after a second he released her. “I purified my professor, about three months ago, turns out he was a Tiger demon. I've been doing Miko training day and night since. I can tap into and control my powers now, I still need a lot of practice, but my teacher was confident that I will do okay. I even got a new bow.” She said, proudly.
Inu Yasha smiled softly. “I found your per-man-nent mar-ker.” He said.
She looked confused for a moment then smiled at him. “Where was it?” She asked.
“Shippou had it.” He said. “He was drawing on the meditating Miroku earlier.”
“Oh no…” She laughed.
“Do you want me to come help you get your things?” He offered.
She was surprised by the polite Inu Yasha, he must have really missed her, he was hardly ever polite, but he was being considerate as well. “If you wouldn't mind.”

They returned just before dawn, with two back packs, half the size and weight of her yellow one. He wore one that was red, and she wore one that was Orange. His carried her clothes and personal items, as she carried her new bow, and in her pack was the food, along with the first aid kit. He walked beside her towards the village….
