InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ I'm safe at home... aren't I? ❯ Her friends' reactions ( Chapter 2 )
Hey everyone! Sorry this chapter is so late… I've been writing a bunch, and though this chapter is pretty short, I promise that some of the next chapters will be a lot longer. Review please!!!
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha, and unless I come up with an evil plan to get rid of Rumiko Takahashi and make me her rightful heir, I won't ever… *sobs*
Previously…
She fell into the well. As she hit the ground and felt a flair of pain in her left arm, she sank into the dark oblivion of unconsciousness, quietly calling, "Inuyasha…"
Chapter Two:
Her friends' reactions
Inuyasha woke with a jolt, almost falling out of the tree. He thought he had heard someone calling his name. Settling back to go back to sleep, he closed his eyes. About to fall again into dreamland, he sat up with a jerk. That smell… that familiar, enticing smell… could it be Kagome?!
He jumped out of the tree, landing next to Miroku with thump. The monk jerked awake, instinctively grabbing his staff and crying out, "Who's there?" He turned and saw the inu-youkai. "Inuyasha? What are you doing, waking me up in the middle of the night?!"
"I smell Kagome…" Inuyasha whispered.
Seeing that Sango was asleep, Miroku's hand crept forward… only to be slapped back from her awakened form. "Don't even try it," the huntress warned. Noticing a red blotch moving quickly toward the well, she asked Miroku, "Where is Inuyasha going this late?"
"He said he smelled Kagome," the monk replied.
"Kagome?!" her friend cried. "Let's go!" She reached down and nudged Kirara, who obligingly transformed into her larger shape, and Sango grabbed the still-sleeping Shippo and jumped on her cat. Miroku climbed up, after almost falling off. Together they raced towards the well.

Inuyasha sped towards the well, thinking. `What is Kagome doing back this early? If anything, she stays away longer, and doesn't come back till well after the allotted three days!' Suddenly he came to a halt. What was that horribly familiar smell?
Kagome's blood!!
He raced towards the old well, faster than he had before. If she had come back early to see Koga, without him sensing her, and the wolf had let her get hurt, he'd pound the stupid wolf into the earth harder than Kagome did with her spell-word!
Inuyasha slowed as the well came into view, along with a much stronger smell of her blood. His heart began to pound faster as he peered over the edge. At first he couldn't see anything, but the moon coming out from behind the clouds revealed everything.
"Kagome!" He gasped at the bloody sight below him. HIS Kagome was lying on the floor of the well, apparently unconscious. Thin bloody lines covered her face, peppered every once in a while with bruises that were hard to make out in the moonlight. Her left arm was a mass of blood, trickling onto the ground in a small but growing puddle by her side.
He leapt down to her side and gently picked her up. Even so, the sleeve of his haori touched her arm, and she flinched, pain clouding her still face. Inuyasha tenderly moved his sleeve and jumped up. He balanced on the rim of the well and took off for the village just as Sango and Miroku galloped up on Kirara.
"Inuyasha, what-" Sango tried to say as he flew past. He turned his head for a second to give them both a desperate look over his shoulder.
Miroku gasped; he had caught sight of Kagome in Inuyasha's arms, covered in blood! "Sango, back to the village!" he yelled.
"What's going on?" she asked, angry now.
"I do not know," he replied truthfully, "but I saw Lady Kagome in Inuyasha's arms, and she had blood all over her!"
Sango gasped. "Well, what are we waiting for?" she cried. "To the village!" Kirara turned and bounded for the village and Kaede's hut where, they assumed, Inuyasha was headed.

`What could have happened to her?' Inuyasha asked himself as he neared the group of huts. As he slowed down closer to Kaede's hut, he vowed that he would find whoever had done this to Kagome, and they would pay the price a dozen times over for hurting her!
Inuyasha stopped in front of the familiar hut and walked in, still holding Kagome against his chest. "Kaede!" he yelled. "Get in here; you're needed!"
Kaede came walking groggily in from a back room, which was where she slept, and confronted Inuyasha. "Inuyasha, what is it ye-" she stopped; her bewildered gaze lowered to the unconscious girl the youkai held. "Kami on earth," she breathed. "Put her down here." Kaede pointed to a mat in the corner. She bustled around the room, getting herbs, water, and bandages.
Inuyasha tenderly laid Kagome down, pulling a strand of hair from her face. "Kagome," he whispered. "Please, wake up!"
"Now, now, child, ye mustn't fret. We'll have Kagome fixed up and back on her feet in no time," Kaede said, pushing Inuyasha back and kneeling over the stricken girl. "I think it best if ye go comfort your friends," the priestess said, pointing towards the door, through which was heard Kirara's pounding paws getting closer.
"Right," Inuyasha nodded and ran outside, casting a last worried glance back at his silent friend.

"Inuyasha!" Miroku yelled as he saw the red-clad figure standing dejectedly in front of Kaede's hut. The monk and huntress slipped off the cat as it transformed into its kitten form again, and Sango picked it up and cuddled it next to Shippo in her arms. She ran to the youkai and said anxiously, "Miroku said he saw you with Kagome in your arms, and she had blood all over her! What's going on?!"
"Sango…" he started, looking forlorn. "I woke up and smelled Kagome, so I ran to the well. When I looked in, I saw her… lying on the ground, all covered in blood. I don't know how it happened. Kaede is in there right now, tending to her wounds. They're all pretty serious, I think."
"No…" the frantic taijia whispered, running for the door. Inuyasha let her pass, sighing.
"Inuyasha…" Miroku said quietly, placing his hand on his friend's shoulder. "What can we do for Lady Kagome now but wait?"
The youkai nodded, sitting down in front of the door in a guard stance. "Then wait we shall."

*Kagome's dream*
Kagome looked around. It was foggy and cold, and she shivered. She couldn't see anything.
Suddenly out of the mist came the biggest of the three thugs who had beaten her so brutally. "Hello," he sneered. "Still alive, are you? I thought I and my companions had beaten you thoroughly enough to keep you from speaking about us, or calling the police… How in the hell did you get out of that well?" he asked.
"Well, what's done is done." He shrugged. Putting his fist under his chin in a contemplative gesture, he queried, "Now what did I forget… Oh, yes. Finishing you off!" He grinned evilly at her as he advanced, his arms outstretched toward her throat.
"No…" she gasped, backing up. "INUYASHA!" she screamed as his hands met her throat.
*End dream*
