I'm Teaching Myself To Dream
Chapter 3: The Concert
The rest was even more of a blur. Kagome accepted, started with Arista Records,
recorded an Album, a single, did a couple talk shows, radio interviews, couple photo shoots, and
an interview with Teen People. She even made the cover pages of `YM', `Teen People', and `TV Guide'. She made a music video, and
had two songs on the top 20 List in America. 'Anything but Ordinary' was number 8, and 'Miss
Independent' was number 1.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I DO NOT OWN AVRIL LAVIGNE'S 'ANYTHING BUT ORDINARY' OR
KELLY CLARKSON'S 'MISS INDEPENDANT'!
Tonight, was her first big concert. After this, Takanaka and Sheryl, her publicist, wanted
her to go on tour. She wanted to. But she wanted a vacation too. Ever since she signed the
contract, all she's done is work, work, and work. She wanted time to hang out with her friends, surf, and
practice the martial arts moves that Leo was teaching her. (First it had started out as something
for like a workout, but then they both got an idea that they could use it for choreography for one of
her music videos or something) Kagome and Leo both thought that doing the martial arts
calmed them down. Leo supported her in every way. He was backstage at every concert, he
was there with her everytime she was signing autographs, on the private jet, in the hotel room,
when she went for walks. He bought her a silver necklace that had a diamond teardrop shaped
pendant on it for her ninteenth birthday. She never took it off. She remembered he said the sweetest thing to her when he gave it to her. It was something like, "It's always okay to cry." Okay, maybe it wouldn't be the sweetest thing to say to anyone else, but for her, considering everything she's been through, it was the best thing he could've said.
Knock, Knock.
Kagome's thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Come in." Kagome said.
A female stage crew member popped her head in the door. "Mr. Takanaka says you have to be on stage in 5 minutes."
"Thanks." Kagome smiled.
The girl quietly closed the door with a little smile.
Kagome turned back around in her seat and looked at herself in the mirror. With a heavy sigh she thought aloud "This is it."
She got up and walked to the door. As she went out into the hallway, the chanting was even louder. She made her way to the 'backstage'. Which wasn't actually true, because the backstage was actually UNDER the stage. When she made her entrance she would appear from under the stage. As she got downstairs, she saw it was absolutely crowded. Crewmembers were everywhere, they had to make sure everything went right. Near the platform she would rise up on, she saw Takanaka, Sheryl, some backup singers/choreographers, and Leo. Leo was standing next to the plat form waiting for her. When they saw each other they instantly walked up to each other.
"Hey." Leo said calmly.
"Hey." Kagome said just as calm.
"You nervous?"
"A little."
They both laughed. Then Leo got a serious look on his face while keeping his smile. He put his hands on her shoulders and looked her directly in the eye. "You'll do great."
Kagome's smile got bigger. "Thanks to you."
They gave each other a big hug before Leo wished her luck and headed off to the stairs. He was going up on the stage to the side so he could watch the whole thing.
Kagome walked over to the platform where Takanaka and Sheryl told her "Good work, and Good luck." Kagome got her microphone set up. Then Kagome and the other dancers did small stretching routines.
One dancer (All the dancers are girls) told her "Good luck girl."
"Thanks, you too." she smiled at the girl.
"Okay people, the platform will rise in 5 minutes!" A male crewmember shouted out.
Kagome and all the dancers stepped onto the platform. They could here someone announcing her. Kagome played with her necklace a little before sighing and dropping it under her shirt. She suddenly felt a little more nervous, not total stage fright, it was just, pre-concert jitters. Then the next thing she knew was the platform was rising.
'Well,' she thought. 'Here I go.'

Author's note: Again! I DON'T OWN THE SONGS!
The crowd is silent for a few moments as the stage goes completely black. Then the crowd starts up again as the spotlights turn on and focus on the center of the stage. Then they go in a circle, before coming back to rest on the center of the stage. The same process repeats two more times. You can hear machinery in the background.
[Music starts to play]
It starts out low but grows, drowning out the sound of the machinery. The crowd goes wild as the platform starts to rise, and standing on the platform are all of the dancers and Kagome standing in a diamond formation (there are about 8 dancers), Kagome is in the front, all of them have their heads bowed down.
[The music gets louder, blue, red, green, and purple lights come on]
{All lift their heads up}
//Miss Independent//
{All turn their heads right}
//Miss so efficient//
{All turn their heads left}
//Miss keep your distance//
{Snaps their heads straight, and on 'distance' they all dip their bodies down a little but snap back up}
//Miss unafraid//
{Kagome steps off the platform, dancers follow keeping the diamond formation throughout the entire song}
//Miss out of my way, Miss don't let a man, Interfere//
{Kagome shakes her head, dancers start doing their own routine}
//Nooo, Miss on her own, Miss almost grown, miss never, let a man, help her off her phone, so-//
[Music gets louder, colored lights turn off, and white lights come on]
//She's keeping her heart protected//
{Pats her heart}
//She never ever feels rejected//
{Kagome shakes her other finger at the audience}
//Little Miss apprehensive//
{Kagome bows her head}
//Said Ooh//
{Snaps head up}
//She fell in love//
{Kagome and the dancers do the same dance routine, music gets louder}
//What is this feeling taking over?
Thinking a world could open a door
Surprise
It's time
To feel
What's real
What happened to Miss Independent?
No longer need to be defensive
Goodbye
To you
Real Love
Is true//
[Music get softer, Dancers go back to doing their own routine, Kagome takes a few steps toward the audience, and the dancers follow her while doing their routine, Kagome is standing there normally}
//Misguided heart//
{Kagome pats her heart}
//Miss play it smart//
{Points to her head}
//Miss if you wanna use that line, you better not start//
{Puts up her hand and does a 'silence' motion}
//Ooh, But she miscalculated, she didn't want to end up jaded, and this miss decided not to miss out on true love, so-//
[Music gets louder, lights brighter]
//She's changing her misconception, she went in a new direction, she found inside, she felt a connection, she fell in love//
[Music gets louder again, and Kagome does the routine with the dancers]
//What is this feeling taking over?(over)
Thinking a world could open a door (a door)

[Music gets soft, a little quieter, lights fade a little]
{Dancers do a slower routine, while Kagome goes back to standing normally}
//When Miss Independent walked away
No time for love that came her way
When she looked in the mirror and thought today
What happened to miss no longer afraid
It took some time for her to see
How beautiful love could truly be
All that talk of what can that be me
I'm so glad I finally see! //
[Music gets the loudest it's ever been, lights get brighter]
{Kagome still stands normally while dancers go into their faster routine}

{All dip down as music ends, their heads are bowed}
The crowd roared with applause, hoots, and whistles. With her head bowed down still, all Kagome could do was smile and think-
'Song number two," her smile got bigger. 'Bring it on.'
