I do own the story though. ^.^
Kagome glowered in dejection as she sat in her old bed room, doing nothing more than staring at the white ceiling that hung over head. Her swollen lips were parted, leaving only a menial gape to allow oxygen to flow. The tight smoky irises that surrounded her pupils reflected off the soft lamp light that graced the faded pink room with an evanescent glow. Cradling her head, was the delicate pillow that filled itself to the bursting point with feathered down.
The news from earlier tumbled over the girl's thoughts as a lonesome finger tangled around stray strands of her ebony hair. Twirling it around as her stomach churned on an undertow of roused tides. I really shouldn't have even bothered coming home. Kagome mused, I'm going out. She sighed, and gave in at her attempt to relax. The news of InuYasha's thoughts on marrying her sister killed any type of lightened up mood. All hope for that was gone the minute she walked in the front door.
Sitting up from her mattress on the floor, adorned with black cross-stitched fabric that buried it in it's grasp, Kagome popped her neck. Sluggishly, she laced a pout upon her wet lips and groaned as she forced herself to her bare feet. The rolling fuzz of the carpet squished between her toes while making her way towards the white closet on the far side of the room.
Small hands gripped to the tiny handles in-between both doors. Pulling them apart, she was greeted by the fresh smell of honey and vanilla that defined her all together. Delicate and sweet, subtle and hidden. Faint traces of smoke lined the inner rim of the closet itself. Her narrow eyes fell on a fill of dark clothing, separated by some shades of lighter hues; Though, not as abundant.
"Okay girl, you gotta find something warm." Kagome muttered to herself, reaching into the closet to pull out a jacket and shirt. Inspecting her choice, she laid her eyes on her old skirt; One that hung delicately at her knee. With a shady smile, she tossed the chosen items in her hand over her shoulder, and removed the black skirt from the hanger.
Ume had always hated that outfit, hated seeing her daughter attempt to be feminine. But, with all disliking, the rebellious souls that cause them, only have more will to do so. A wry grin etched onto Kagome's fair features, as she leaned over her plain stained desk. Plucking up a pair of scissors, she started work on mangling her , perfectly cared for, clothing.
In the living room, InuYasha had just stepped in from dropping Kikyo off at the airport. It was a little after eleven when his boot clad foot hit the mauve carpet. A cigarette was crushed in between his lips, slowly burning into grey cinder, as he staggered into the living room. His dark eyes scanned over Sota's sleeping form, sprawled out on the couch with a leg hanging against the floor.
A gently smile quirked in the corners of the man's lips, as he cuffed his hands beneath the sleeves of his jacket, letting the autumn chill drain from his finger tips. Half expecting what he'd see next, InuYasha glanced at the split level stairs as Kagome came bolting down. The girl's legs were bare except for a pair of black and warped knee highs. The youth's brows furrowed, and brought a hand up to rip the cigarette from his mouth. Hell, everyone on earth could see right up that damned shredded skirt of her's and see the size of her pink panites. What in hell is Kagome thinking? He glowered, stomping out the butt of his fag in the ashtray to his right. A bitter sting of protection sifted over him as his arms linked over his chest; Pressing further into the warmth of his clothing.
"What in seven hells doing you think your doing wearing that?!" InuYasha growled, biting down on his tongue as Kagome's head flew up. A steady rush of blush raised high on her normally pallid features.
"Yasha?" The raven headed girl blinked, pausing mid stride as her silver eyes, that were noticeably bathed in a sea of black eyeliner, lifted fully to land on the lanky boy leaning against the wall. "I'm going out, that's what I'm doing." She perked her brows as if challenging him to stop her. Her voice was stressed, and still attempted to hold spite.
"No, little girl." InuYasha scoffed, licking the edge of teeth. Feeling the strong and timid rims rolling over his taste buds, giving off the lingering taste of Kikyo's peppermint gum in his mouth. "You're not going any where dressed, like that." His nose wrinkled, while a finger rotated around emphasizing the girl's error.
Kagome felt her facial features contorted into a gaping façade of disbelief. "Excuse me?" She laughed, mockingly. Driving a bare hand to rest upon her thin hip as she found the strength to drop past the last two covered steps onto the main floor. "I don't need you to be Mama, Yasha." She glowered, flashing him an incredulous look that would melt the walls of hell.
"Don't pull that card on me, Kagome." The youth berated, brushing a hand through his mussed raven tresses. His charcoal eyes were matched with Kagome's in a duel of stead fast discontent. He knew why he did this, said those things. So did she, more than anyone.
"We both know why I do this, and you can't say that you don't." He sighed, letting his gaze falter and lower to the floor that seemed far more interesting than that glare of hellfire.
"InuYasha." Kagome gritted her teeth, while pulling her flowing hair into a constricted ponytail with a hair toggle that resided on her wrist. It some what left and indention as it's marking of homestead. "Why is it fine for Kikyo do dress like this, then?" She shot him a sour glance that made her eyes dance softly in the dim light that cascaded around her.
InuYasha elicited out a sound that resembled a moan of displeasure, as he stared at the short girl from behind the sanctuary of his lengthy eyelashes. "Kagome, I really don't want to talk about Kikyo right now." He groaned, screwing his face up into a knot of truth and irritation. "I just want to know why in hell you think that you need to dress like that to go out, especially when it's like forty degrees outside." At the last of his statement, his brows perked slightly. Showing off a bit of his curious amusement. "For all you know some middle aged pervert's just waiting to snag a girl like you." His tone was as a matter of fact, which earned him a hiss from Kagome.
"Look, maybe that's what I'm looking for." She flailed her arms, only to have them locked back at her sides; Wrinkling the dark cotton fabric of her jacket. Her eyes were filled with nostalgic emotion that deduced that she was miserable. "All I want, Yasha, is to get out this house for a bit. I promise I'll be back later all right?" She swallowed a lump of sticky saliva that welled upon her esophagus.
InuYasha removed himself from the décor of the wall, and coughed his lungs clean of mucus before flashing her a charming smile. "How about this," He chuckled low in his throat, staring her down like a beast would it's prey. "You go put on what you had on earlier and I'll take you wherever you wanna go." The boy's hands worked their way into his trench coats pockets, while he pursed his lips.
Kagome rolled her stormy eyes, and clicked her tongue along the roof of her mouth. "So," She frowned inwardly, not finding the courage to look him in the eye again. "You don't like when I dress sexy?" She pouted, leaning back on her thick shoes. Her voice had dropped an octave, bringing out what she believed to be her best attempt of being seductive.
"Kagome." InuYasha shot a bath of warm breath upwards towards his bangs, and let them dance briefly in the wake. His pale face found it's self heating into a rubious flush. He couldn't look her in the eyes. Damn it! Thoughts of what he could do to her filtered over his mind, beating all coherence to a bloody pulp that could masquerade as an extracted heart.
With a sharp intake of air, his hands leapt from his silken pockets to rest firmly on her shoulders. Drawing her into him a bit closer as he leaned down to her eye level; Matching heated glares. His hair flooded over his shoulders in trails of sleek obsidian and silver. "Look, you go change and we'll take a little trip cause I need to tell you a few things, All right little girl?" Yash grunted, stifling back a moan as he watched her hips sway while her backwards stride was taken up.
"Fine." Kagome defiantly tossed her arms around her body and turned on her heels to head back up stairs. She sounded a bit hurt, that he hadn't even bothered a compliment. Then again, he wasn't with her anymore. It was an act of sheer brilliance that she hadn't let herself go crazy over the matter.
InuYasha just wasn't meant for me, I guess. The girl sighed, and hit the last step before barging back down stairs with her hoodie and jeans. Her hair was still up, minus the strands that fell down accentuating her narrow neck. A hand brushed over her bangs as InuYasha lifted himself from the couch with a crooked smile.
"That, my dear, was the single most inane thing I've ever done in my life." Kagome pouted, drawing her rosy lips into a small pout as her hands searched within the fuzz covered confines of her hoodie pouch. Hitting the plastic casing of a new pack of cigarettes, a smirk coiled on her lips. "I'm ready to go, all high and mighty dater of Kikyo." Her words rolled of her tongue with an uneven distaste, even if they weren't meant to be malicious they were to her. And her bruised pride.
"Don't call me that." InuYasha hissed as though someone had struck him across the face. His dark eyes radiated a warning that matched the low growl that emitted from his throat. The fragile spiral of amber that decorated his irises had also grimly shattered. "All right, where you wanna go anyway, babe?" Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! The youth's eyes widened, he hadn't had the nerve to call her that since he and Kikyo began dating. Rumbling, his heart throbbed heavily before making it a race towards the door.
"I don't know," Kagome blinked. Furrowing her brows, she followed suit behind him. Catching the door, and shutting it behind her as the bitter air tumbled over her cheeks. As if that were the reason for her all ready flustered appearance. "What's the matter InuYasha?" She asked innocently, traipsing down the wooden steps with rather loud thuds.
The lanky boy shot around swiftly, narrowing his eyes on the girl. The wake around him shimmered in a wave of pouring tides of hair, blocking his stare as the wind swept by. His heart was grinding against his rib cage in violent fluctuations of murmurs. "Noth-ing." InuYasha hissed, callously. Brushing strands of his hair away from his rubious face. The tips of his fingers warming the frost bitten flesh just slightly. "Not a damn thing's wrong with me, Kagome. Now," He sighed inwardly watching her stride towards him slowly. "You wanna tell me where we're goin'?"
Kagome laughed sarcastically, taking in an uneven breath as she reached up to jab a finger into his chest. Her eyes narrowed viciously, but the intention was brutally offset by the chattering of her teeth in the cold. "Yeah, I-I'll tell you." She shivered, burying her body deeper within her sweatshirt; Eyes never leaving their target. " I need to pick up some books from the dorm, and I have to see Sango." The girl shuddered more violently, and snapped her head as a chill shot down the marrow in her bones.
"All right, get'n the car." The raven headed youth sighed, reaching into the lining of his thick jacket to whip out a lighter and a cigarette. Lighting it, he grabbed the handle of the beaten up door of his car, falling down roughly against the cushioned seat. His nimbly fingers jabbed the keys into the ignition as Kagome popped her door open and plopped down beside him.
The look that was etched upon his face would have been better on a monolith of stone; It seemed so heavy. The young woman at the anxious boy's right side smiled weakly as if to show some sort of renounced comfort. A few choice memories sprang into her head, fueling more need for her enigmatic grin to widen, catching the attention of her ex lover.
InuYasha side glanced her as he rolled down his window by hand, just enough to let the smoke ventilate from the compartment where they sat. "What is it, little girl?" He forced a smirk, letting it deftly fall sort of his grave eyes.
"Nothing." Kagome replied airily, keeping her eyes entailed and vivid. "But why do you keep calling me that?" She inquired, drawing both of her legs up to sit cross legged in the seat, while InuYasha attempted to peel out of the ragged driveway.
The man grinned toothily, pulling out on to the main street. With a shrug of his shoulders, he supplied her with a drop of the dime answer. "I don't know, I guess I'm so used to calling you that." A soft snicker erupted from his mouth, that brought Kagome's attention back full force to the point where she even inspected the way his breathing staggered when talking about the subject. "I mean, when you and I dated you were only fifteen and I had just turned eighteen." Yasha winked at her with a blush burning his cheeks, but dismissed it. "God, that was so long ago." The smile that graced his lips faltered and fell into a despondent frown.
"Yeah." Kagome sighed disparaged. She felt her stormy eyes drift over towards the car window, driving the sound of passing cars out of her head while the scenery zipped by in blurs of vast coloration against the bleak atmosphere of the night. A thin frost clung to the glass, as she rested the edge of her forehead firmly upon the surface. A question nagged at the back of her mind, one that she had always wanted to ask. Though, through her own stubborn will had refused for the past three ears. When something like that eats you up inside, it only leads to sorrow.
InuYasha shot her a wayward glance, before he mustered up the strength to say something that bit his ass with an urge. "Hey, Kagome?" He began cautiously, the hesitance evident in his dark eyes.
"Yeah, Yasha?" Kagome answered meekly, averting her eyes over the bunched up hood of her sweater that hung loosely upon her small frame. Noticing the boy tighten his grip upon the rickety steering wheel, she creased her brow. "Something on your mind?" She asked gingerly letting a ductile yawn escape her.
"I wanted to know, what you thought about me marrying Kikyo?" InuYasha glimpsed at her reaction to the question, not only did it repress the urge to tail end the car in front of them, but it quelled his heart from beating. The palms of his hands where sweaty against the leather of the steering wheel, and warm beneath the fiery rage of the heat blustering from the dashboard. "I still haven't asked her, or nothing, but Ume wants me to do it soon."
Kagome bristled a staggering hand through her bangs, as if to take away from the choice words that she wanted to resound through the car and shatter the windows. Biting her tongue she plastered a smile on her pale face, and glimmered an insincere promise. "I think you should do what makes you happy, ya know?" She rambled, "I know that if I had someone like you, I'd gladly accept." The girl murmured, hoping so dearly that he wouldn't say what he always had.
"Thanks Kags." InuYasha grinned faintly. Removing his right hand from the steering wheel, he planted it securely on her knee giving it a taut, reassuring squeeze. Ignoring the way that her muscles tensed as he did so. "It's good to know I have you. Kikyo and you are completely different." He chortled, "Maybe that's why I can't figure out what the hell I'm going to do with you, sometimes. You and I get along so well, I wonder if you're like a sister to me."
Kagome sealed her silver eyes, not letting him know exactly how much that last comment had stung. When his hand retracted she still felt the heat from his hand, and intently jerked back as if he'd burned her. A scowl stitched onto her lips as she rested her head back on the cool window that commiserated her melancholy mood. "Wake me up when we get to AHU?" Kagome glowered solemnly and drew up the hood to her jacket.
"Yeah." InuYasha replied quietly, finding interest in lighting another cigarette. Feeling completely guilty, he laced his arm behind the girl's head rest, toying with her silken tresses with the traces of a wounded frown. What am I gonna do with you, Kagome?
On the other side of town, Sango sat with a jaded look in her earthy eyes. She was bored out of her fucking mind, and there wasn't a damn thing she could do about it either. Respectively, her boyfriend, Miroku was running late. Again. Since Kagome had ditched her without so much as a word earlier today, she figured why not go to the party that Muso was throwing. Of course, she had to wait for her "beloved" to arrive with her car.
"What in hell possessed me to let that thing drive my car?" Sango sighed, not talking to anyone unparticular. Her dorm mate Ayame ,however, had scuttled by. Swaying her curved hips she paused in front of the couch where her observant emerald eyes danced over the other girl's choice of dress.
"Well," Ayame smirked, flicking back her obviously died red hair. "Miroku can be responsible, sometimes but that's the least of your problems." She giggled, scrunching up her nose adorably enough for Sango to outwardly gag.
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean, Ayame?" The auburn haired girl perked her brows with a menacing tone dripping out of her voice. Her violet eyes narrowed upon the scrutiny that the girl still insisted on supplying.
"How did you slip that thing over your hips?" Ayame asked, curiously enough. She placed her well manicured hands upon her hips, and leaned downwards a bit. Her wild eyes were fixated on the specific dress that Sango had picked out, so appropriately short and excessively tight.
"I had to use a bottle of lube." Sango rolled her murky eyes through a hazy of thick eyeliner and crimson shadow. Her hands self consciously ran over the kinks in her black dress, the silk rolled in between her fingers gingerly as she trailed over the soft pink polka dots that covered the fabric. "Besides, it's not that tight." She defended with a scowl. "Just cause I don't have a fucking size zero waist, like some people I know, doesn't mean I can't wear this."
"I never said that you couldn't." Ayame retorted, breaking a dark smile. "Anyway, I need to go get Mayu and Tsubaki." she grinned cheerfully, turning towards a mirror that hung on the back of the white door at the entrance. She ruffled her hair so the curls would stand out just a bit more, leaving them hanging just off of her shoulders. Her dress was solid, and matched her eyes to a tee. Proud of herself, she winked at Sango and escaped from the brewing anger that spilled from the girl.
The girl that graphed herself to the plain orange couch, that clashed with the rest of the room so terribly, lolled her head back. Feeling her ponytail prick the pack of her skull, she glowered in defeat of getting comfortable. Seemingly, as the door flung open releasing a frosted rush of air to circulate about the room tauntingly then shut just as swiftly.
"Hey babe." Miroku chimed, in all of his boyish charm. Sweeping in as Ayame, slid past. Placing a charming smile on his face, he stepped forward clad in apparel that might as well been what he wore the day before.
"Bout damn time." Sango raised a quizzical brow. She unfolded her bare arms, and stood upwards on boot armored feet. "So, my car dead?" the girl asked, adjusting her hair with an angry grit along the edge of her teeth.
"Yes, love." Miroku leaned against the door frame, with a pensive smile lit across his face. Making him look more childish than he already was. His shaggy black hair danced around his shoulders, while his azure eyes sparkled in the faint light. Quickly he reached into his pocket, ignoring the frost that tinged his cheeks to a warm peony hue, and jerked out the keys. "Here are the keys, I take it you'll be driving."
"What the fuck do you think?" Sango hissed. She strutted over towards the coat rack and jerked off her sweat shirt, with safety pins littering the front pocket to keep it intact. "You went by Kagome's dorm right?" She asked absentmindedly as she slipped the shirt over her head, and brought a hand up to pull her hair from the collar.
"Yes, and she went home, or something." Miroku said with a cough, while a hand slipped around the tarnished metal nob, awaiting to open it and whisk her away to have a decent time. "I told her room mate, that if she came back tonight that you'd be at Muso's."
"Thanks, Roku." Sango chirped, lacing a cheeky smile on her face, showing off her small dimples that resided near her dainty mouth. "She still doesn't know that you're the one, I'm dating." She bit her lower lip expectantly and blushed. "I still can't believe I am either." Her voice scoffed, leaving him glowering with a bruised ego.
The mop topped youth sighed, perking his brows in pseudo amusement at her choice of words. "Well, my dear. Shall we be off?" He inquired, thrusting out an arm awaiting for her to link with her own. Quickly he shot a glance down at his tattered jeans and grinned, "You know I feel a bit underdressed."
"Pervert." Sango rolled her indigo eyes, and took his offering. Kicking the back of his leg so that it bent forward enough to where he stumbled she smiled graciously as she exited the scadly decorated dorm room.
At her dorm, Kagome staggered dragging ass. Her face was beaten and tired from her abusive slumber, on the way over there thanks to a certain tall man that almost daintily was bobbing his head back and forth to Jack Off Jill's song, "Super Sadist".
InuYasha didn't realize that he was doing it, so she let it slide. Hell, it was bringing her amusement anyway. With a drawn out gusto of yawns, Kagome rocked back and forth as she kicked the bottom of her dorm room while she knocked off a chill. Tsuya answered with a smile, that drowned in a sea of far too much, ruby lipstick. Her chocolate eyes shimmered as she scanned over the boy next to her room mate's side.
"Hey, you were here the other day!" The girl pointed out, biting on her lower lip as she inspected Kagome's reaction. It was covered in astonishment.
InuYasha cleared his throat, and blushed openly as he glanced over his shoulder down to the girl that stood short against his stature. "Heh, I came to see you but you weren't here." He chuckled. Skimming his eyes over the door way frantically, he shot daggers at the young woman standing next to the door. "Next time, when you open that mouth of yours, make sure you pop in a breath mint by the way." The boy smiled wirily, and stepped past her to his hardwood floor.
Kagome waited patiently for InuYasha to make his great entry into the room, which meant his assault on their fridge was imminent. As soon, as she heard the door creak open her eyes shot with vigor towards Tsuya, whom held an innocent glare to her hazel eyes. "He came by and you didn't tell me?" She growled, balling her hands into fists at her side.
"Yeah, well. He told me not to." She smiled weakly, toying with her died violet hair. "Oh, by the way Sango said if you came by to meet her at Muso's for that party. Miroku came by and dropped off the message, and the dress is in the bedroom."
Sango is dead when I get my hands on her..
