Sango sat with her back against a big tree. In her knee she had her giant boomerang, the Hiraikotsu. She was sharpening its edge, something she had neglected far too long now. Shippou, the little kitsune, was playing with her fire cat Kirara near by. She knew the kitsune missed Kagome and Inuyasha; both had been on the other side of the well far too long now. Sango did her best to fill the child's days with things to do. She sighed but tensed up as she felt a dark energy approach them. She rose to her feet and removed her kimono and took hold of her weapon. A dead curling scream filled the air and she saw a young girl come running towards her.

The girl saw the black suited woman in the clearing, raising a big thing over her head. But the snarling sounds from behind were more terrifying and the girl rushed towards the woman who gently pushed her behind her back.

- Stay there little one, I will take care of the monster, said Sango with a soft voice.

The girl nodded and saw the woman throw her weapon towards the snarling sound. The boomerang cut the shadowy creature with no effort at all. The Hiraikotsu came back and Sango caught it and lay on the ground and turned to the girl. She hugged the little girl tight to her body, trying to calm the cries.

- You are safe now little one, I took care of the monster, whispered Sango soothingly.

- SANGO!! yelled Shippou and came running.

- Yes we are ok, said Sango. We are ok.

- We???

- Hai, we are.

Sango turned so the kitsune could see the young girl in her arms. Shippou's eyes widened when he saw the shy and still a bit scared smiled on the girl's lips. She could not be older than ten he thought and he laughed a bit embarrassed and did a circular motion with his kitsune paw in the grass.

Sango saw this too and she knew the kitsune was about to fall in love, again. "Well, it good to know that someone in my surrounding are capable of loving, because I don't think I ever will be that." She thought with bitterness.

She rose to her feet and looked around the clearing. She took hold of her boomerang again when a strong energy approached them in high speed. "Ok, here comes the next youkai who wants to taste the power of my Hiraikotsu." She thought and got ready for the next fight. But nothing could have prepared her for whom she was about to meet.

Sesshoumaru came in the form of a white lightning and stopped a few feet away from the taijya. The woman pushed his ward behind her back and he could see her get ready to fight in order to protect the girl. He smirked.

- What do you want Sesshoumaru-sama? asked Sango with a cold voice. She tried desperate to push away the funny feeling inside her stomach. His smile made her skin crawl and she just wanted to moan lustfully.

- RIN!

- Hai Sesshoumaru-sama, answered the little girl behind Sango's back.

- Come, it's time to find Jaken.

- HAI!!

The girl rushed towards Sesshoumaru and she followed him like an obedient little servant. Both Sango and Shippou watched in shock how the odd pairing disappeared into the forest again. Sesshoumaru did not grace them with one look when he went back from where he first came.

- Sango… What happened?

- I do not know Shippou, answered Sango confused.

They both agreed not to say anything to the others, no one would believe them. The great Sesshoumaru, the human hater, had a little human girl in his care. No, no one would believe them. Sango also wanted no one to know how much the meeting with the great demon lord had affected her. She had felt something move inside her chest, something she did not want to know she had - a heart.

Sesshoumaru had stopped for a few seconds before he lost sight of the taijya. He had been very impressed over her ability; she had vanquished the shadow demon with no effort at all with that giant boomerang of hers. This woman was strong in both spirit and will. His instincts shouted to him that this woman would be perfect to be his wife and mother to his future pups. He had seen how she handled Rin and how she without a doubt would protect the girl from anything, including him. She could of course easily be killed by him, but she had ignored that. That was very impressive. "But this Sesshoumaru will not fall for a worthless human." he growled low and tried to push away the scent of mint and arousal from his memory. "WAIT - arousal? She was aroused??" That information got a certain part of his body to harden noticeable. "But still she would be a perfect mother to my future pups." He growled again when his demon side breathed its opinion.

- Rin!

- Hai Sesshoumaru-sama? answered the little girl.

- What did you think about the woman who saved you today?

- Rin liked her al lot, she smelled good.

- What about her did you like? Asked Sesshoumaru and nodded in consent about the woman's smell. But he would not say it out loud.

- She made Rin feel safe, just the way Rin feel safe with you Sesshou-papa…

The girl piped when she realized she had breathed her inner feelings about the lord.

"Sesshou-papa?? Does Rin really see me as a father?" Sesshoumaru lost his emotionless mask for a few microseconds. The girl's words had made a deep impact in his heart. And a feeling of pride and happiness grew inside his chest.

- Gomen Nasai Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin did not mean.. whispered the sobbing girl. Gomen Nasai.

- It is ok Rin, but only when we are alone. Do you understand Rin? said Sesshoumaru with a thick voice.

- Hai…. Sesshou-papa, said Rin and smiled brightly towards her father figure before she hesitant took a hold of his clawed hand.

He gave her a light squeeze and was rewarded by a bubbling sound from Rin. "Fuck, I am turning soft." He sighed and they walked back to their camp and Jaken.

A few days later Sesshoumaru sat on a wide branch, looking down on Rin who played around in a flower field. Jaken had his little hands full of keeping up with the giggling girl. The lord smiled softly as he saw the toad demon shout at the giggling girl. "Rin, you are my eternal source of happiness. I wonder if you know this." he thought.

He sniffed the air for any kind of danger but he only found the gentle scent of mint and he growled. He knew this scent all to well; it had etched itself into his memory. "The taijya, she is nearby." He jumped gracefully down to the earth.

- Jaken, watch Rin. I have matters to attend to, he said with a firm voice.

- Hai Sesshoumaru-sama, shouted Jaken and panted heavily after his latest escapade with Rin.

Sesshoumaru disappeared into the forest and followed the minty scent to a hot spring. He stopped before he reached the little clearing. He could see the woman who had saved his young ward step into the spring without a shred of clothes on her strong body. Once again he could feel his instinct push forward and his loins tightened at the mere sight of her. "How can she do this to me? I am a demon lord, not a weak human male." He groaned and shifted his erection underneath his silky trousers. He did not like the idea of not having control over his own body, something that he - the Lord of the Western lands - always had.
