Kagome reaches up and takes hold of the whole jewel of four souls. The magenta light disperses and the night becomes calm once again. Kagome looked around at her companions. Naraku was defeated; the jewel was complete; her job there was done. She stared at Inuyasha; the same thought showed in his beautiful amber eyes. She had no reason to stay anymore. The group headed back to the village in silence. Kagome said goodbye to her dear friends; tears strolling down her face.

Inuyasha soon took her into the forest where they both stood by the Bone Eaters Well. Kagome wrapped her arms around him; squeezing him tight. For once he didn't blush and awkwardly stand there. He wrapped his arms around the girl from the future and fought the urge to ask her to stay. Kagome slowly pulled away and pulled out the sacred jewel. “Here,” her cracked yet soft voice said. She took hold of his hand and placed it in his palm. A tear rolled down her cheek as she closed his hand around it. “Keep it. I trust you to do the right thing.” She tried to fight back the many tears that wanted to spill as he pulled her into another tight embrace. Once she was gone; Inuyasha clutched the jewel. `This is the only right thing I know.' He thought, before making the wish.

Kagome slowly walked into her house and up to her room.

~Will you remember me? ~

Kagome walked into her room, not bothering to turn on her lights. She stopped in the center of her room, and looked out the window.

~Don't let your life pass you by~

`I'll never see him again.' She thought sadly; letting her tears run freely. She curled into bed and began to weep into her pillow.

~Weep not for the memories~

The next day, her friends caught up with her as she was walking to school. “Hey Kagome; are you okay? Looks like you didn't gat any sleep last night.” Ayumi said. Kagome didn't have the strength to talk; she barely had enough to pull herself out of bed.

~I'm so tired~

“Kagome c'mon! We're gonna be late!”

~But I can't sleep

Standing on the edge

Of something much too deep~

Kagome tired to keep her mind from the pain and thoughts of Inuyasha and her friends.

~Funny how I feel so much~

“Kagome! Wanna go to WacDonald's?”

She shook her head. “I've got work to catch up on. Maybe some other time.”

~But cannot say a word~

“Please Kagome?” they pleaded. They sensed something was wrong and didn't want to leave her alone just yet. Kagome went against her gut and smiled before turning around and saying, “Alright. Why not?”

~We are screaming inside

Oh…but we can't be heard~

Her friends chattered the entire time; but all Kagome could think about was him. `Is this how its gonna be?' She wondered.

~I will remember you~

Kagome started home, not looking anywhere but at her feet.

~Will you remember me?

Don't let your life pass you by~

She headed up the steps of the shrine.

~Weep not for the memories~

That night, after supper, Kagome walked outside and sat at the base of the sacred tree. She couldn't help but think of him and everything that they had been through together.

~So afraid to love you~

Was it all for nothing?

~More Afraid to lose~

She wandered if he ever knew how she felt about him. Would it have mattered?

~Clinging to a past

That doesn't let me choose~

The sound of footsteps caught her attention; pulling her from thought.

~But once there was a darkness~

`Who would be coming now?' She thought.

~A deep and endless night~

Her breath caught when she looked up and saw who stood before her.

~Gave me everything you had

Oh…you gave my light~

She slowly stood up; tears started to rim her eyes. She tried to speak, but nothing came out.

~I will remember you~

“I-Inuyasha…?” It was him, but how could that be?

~Will you remember me? ~

Inuyasha smirked at the expression on her face.

~Don't let your life pass you by~

“You didn't think I'd forget about you, did you?” He asked. Kagome smiled as the tears rolled down from her radiant brown eyes.

~Weep not for the memories~

She lunged at him; embracing him; hoping to god it was for real. His arms encircling her and holding her tight ensured her it was him and he was truly there.

~I will remember you~

They slowly pulled away from each other. Kagome lifted her hand to his face and nearly laughed when she felt his smooth skin and silky silver hair.

~Will you remember me? ~

“We're all here, Kagome.” He said softly as he moved a strand of hair behind her ear. “Everyone was reborn.”

~Don't let your life pass you by~

Kagome smiled. “ The one person I want right now is you.” She confessed. The tears of happiness rolled down her cheeks as Inuyasha pulled her into a deep, long kiss.

~Weep not for the memories~
