I wonder : An InuYasha One Shot.

A/N: Quick note. This is a angsty dark one shot. Alternate Universe. And it is what InuYasha would think and feel and be like in today's world if he never met Kagome or the Inugami and was a hanyou, and was messed with for the last time. I feel hanyou or not we all have our breaking points. We all love happy endings, but this isn't one of them. I do not own InuYasha, or even the song Missing by Evanescence. This is not a song fic.

I Wonder:

You won’t cry for my absence, I know -
You forgot me long ago.
Am I that unimportant...?
Am I so insignificant...?
Isn’t something missing?
Isn’t someone missing me?

Even though I’d be sacrificed,
You won’t try for me, not now.
Though I’d die to know you love me,
I’m all alone.
Isn’t someone missing me?

He sang to the lyrics morbidly as the song fluttered gentle in the twlight breeze. It was going to be a long night, he wouldn't sleep at all not that he did normally. How would you if you were him. He sat next to his computer, obbsessively scanning pages and profiles online, looking for traces of his mentioning. Like he did every night. Not like he had anyone to worry about him, he had no parents, they died when he was younger. He lived alone, living off of his inheiritance.

He stopped going to school last month, and still it was like he was still there. People wouldn't leave someone like him alone. He came to a bunch of profiles that had him mentioned in it. Ridiculing him. He hated it. It wasnt his fault he was who he was.

He always watched and read what they wrote. Breaking him down one word at a time, at first he fought it. But after his messages and words being posted online and mocked he stopped. It wasn't worth it anymore. Nothing was worth anything anymore.

No one wanted to be near him. They called him psycho. A freak. Mocked his parents.Saying his mother was into beastiality.

He turned away from his computer. Just looked blankly at the wall for a bit then outside to the oak tree in his backyard. He was twenty this year. ten years since his parents death, and it felt like yesterday. Everything felt like yesterday. All the wounds were fresh and each day salt was poured onto them.

He slapped himself in the cheek, "Get a hold of yourself." he said speaking to no one. His thoughts ran back to death. Death seemed better then any of this. Glacing at the tree in the yard, he remembered all the times he tried to kill himself.

*-*Flashback*-*

He opened the package he stole from the corner store. The razor was sharp and glinted in the sunlight. He walked with it slowly closer to the tree trunk he was in front of and jumped effortlessly into the highest branches. And sat just staring at it. Thinking back to what he read. Whcih way was it? Veritically that was right.

He looked around the yard his mother was inside, his father at work. No one to disturb him. He was only eight at the time but already the pain ran deep. He rooled his sleeves back to his elbows and quickly and carefully cut long and deep down his forearms, vertically not horizontally.

The blood started pouring out of the cuts, running down the tree, to the ground below. He started to feel lightheaded and then, he can't remember he blacked out.

Next thing he knew he was in the hospital, and his mother was crying next to him.

*-*End*-*

He was told his father got home early and smelt his blood. Luckily they found him in time, even though he started to heal already. Thinking back he hated his blood, keeping him alive.

"Heh." He looked down at his carpet, then glaced at the drawer on his desk. Chuckling darkly he pulled it open. It was always the same no matter how hard he tried. Pills, ropes, jumping, drowning. None of it worked. The only thing that could kill him was miko energy. Holy energy. Or another demon stronger then him.

Glaring at the screen he flipped it off. All his life it had been like this. People mocking him. He grew up having stones thrown at him, people shunning him, stelaing his stuff, failing for no reason, getting tripped and kicked, paint poured on him, and pushed in the mud. The list goes on forever.

Until he got older he didn't think it could get worse, then the threats started, beatings, muggings, and women thinking if he looked at them he was raping them. He opened the drawer, taking out a manilla envelope, fingering the flap before pulling the contents out. Luckily the fruits of the labor people took to make him feel like shit did bring him treasures. Out of the manilla envelope popped a small dagger.

"Who knew Prietesses would be so helpful." he mused, turning to his cat on his bed. "What you say we give this a try?" The cat meowed slightly of course not understanding its master. He looked at eh dagger closely, and soon felt a pulse from the blade, the barrier pushing against his own arua.

*-*Flashback*-*

It was just a few days ago. About 2 weeks after quitting school. He was walkign through the mall, hat on, hair hidden beneath it and contacts on. As he was walking looking in a store he bumped into a young woman and sent her falling. He quickly caught her and her bag.

"Um... thank you." she sadi looking down, reaching for her bag a blush covering her cheeks.

"No problem." He helped her up and walked off aloof and non caring. But she followed.

"Excuse me, I don't know how to say this but, would you like to join me for a cup of coffee?" she gestured to the starbuck's across the aisle.

He half turned toward her and gave her a soft look, his eyes saying, if you knew who I was you wouldn't say that. "I am sorry, no thank you."

"Then may I at least have your name and number?" She was a bit forward and I guess, he was told he was handsome when he was younger but she thought his eyes were green and his hair blonde or black for all she knew.

"My name is InuYasha, and I do not have a number." He began walking away again, knowing he wouldn't need to turn around. This was a small city, most of the population knew who he was. It was public business since hanyous sometimes lost control. He heard her gasp, and her swift pitter pats as her heels clicked away.

He knew her though. Kikyou. She was the local preitess prodigy. Hell bent on killing him one day. For what reason he didn't know. They had never met previously, but he knew her from TV.

Two days later a manilla envelope came in the mail. With a razorblade surging with power, and a note.

InuYasha:

How dare you touch me or come on to me. Use this and do us all a favor. Cause one day you will be dead by my hands if you don't.

- Kikyou

*-*End*-*

He fingered the blade. Looked at his cat and pet her head gently. "What am I going to do? Eh Aroura?" The cat rubbed into his palm and purred. "Rather be death than lonely." He quickly brought the blade to his wirsts and repeated what he remembered from his youth. There was silence, a cat's meow, dizziness and then... blackness.

*-* 2 weeks Later *-*

News broadcast.

"This just in, the body of 20 yr old InuYasha Kobayashi was found today. The cause suicide. When no one had seen him wandering around the mall for a while shop owners got suspicious that there could be something bad going on. Police today infultrated the house where he lived finding him dead, apparently he cut his wrists with a blessed dagger. Also his cat, curled next to him on the floor, was also found dead with him." The new caster looks at his co-anchor. "Interesting, guess that is the only family he had."

The co-anchor grimaced and responded "Yes but then again he also was only an disgusting animal as well."

"Took the words from my mouth, Diane. It is said, his inheirtance will be left to local charities. Diane?"

"In more important news..."
