The apartment stood, seeing tenants going in and out through out it's years. Love, heartbreak, triumph, and pain are feelings this tiny home has been witness to. In the end of it's many years it sits silently, broken, and vandalized waiting to once more be called home.
Kagome, arms also full of boxes glanced back at her friend with a tolerent smile. "Because he has work to do. And because this is all I can afford." Sango was her best friend, and yes, she loved her dearly but if she continued to ask her about Kouga and her choices she was going to have to throw her down the stairs.
"Ah work..." The stairs gave way to a long, narrow hallway. "He's such a big shot lawyer... Why isn't HE the one paying for your apartment since it was his idea for you to move out?" Kagome had been living with Sango and their best friend, Rin for the past three years until Kouga showed up and started turning things around. To Sango, he was an overbearing, controlling ass. It had indeed been his idea for her to move out "so they woudln't be disturbing Kagome's roomates anymore" and Kagome had agreed considering they had come in late on more than one occasion and managed to wake up the whole house.
"I don't want to have to rely on Kouga's money to support myself. I like being at least a little independent." It was the same answer she had given hundreds of times to both Rin and Sango since he talked her into moving out. Sure, Kagome was an independent person but it wasn't as if Kouga was offering to help out, either.
'Bastard...' Sango growled, pulling herself from her thoughts in time to stop before running into Kagome who sat the boxes down with a sigh of releif.
"This is it!" Kagome grinned proudly. She pulled a rather large set of keys from her pocket and after selecting the right one, shoved it into the lock and turned, causing the door to open revealing a monstrosity past anything Sango had ever seen.
"Sweet Kami what the hell were you thinking?!" She asked, following her into the tiny abyss Kagome was now calling home. She allowed the boxes to slip from her arms, landing onto the floor with a thud. Kagome did the same before moving away to open the doors to the only bedroom and the bathroom. Sango continued to look around in utter shock.
The paint seemed to be comming off of the walls in sheets. Some walls didn't seem to have any paint left. The sink looked like a rusted hole in the counter and it would have probabally been correct to assume that the water would come out in the most unhealthy colors imaginable. The bathroom wasn't any better. The tub was one of the old claw footed ones that looked like it hadn't been used since it was put in, complete with mold and what looked like rust gathering at the bottom. The toilet and sink didn't seem any better off. Even the mirror was busted into peices. Accross the tiny hall from the bathroom stood what was probabally the tiniest room in history complete with cracked window and closet door reduced to splinters. This was a fixer upper indeed.
Kagome noticed her friend's look of horror and smiled. "All it needs is a bit of paint and some new glass..." she was hoping beyond all hope Sango would just agree with her and leave it at that.
"Kagome... There's not enough paint in the world to make this place livable..." She would have argued but the look on her friend's face stopped her. Kagome seemed to be determined and Sango learned long ago, when her friend was determined to do something it was best not to stand in her way.
"Don't worry, Sango. The landlord is giving me a break on the rent because of how much help it needs and she said I could pretty much do anything I wanted to do with it." Kagome sighed and looked around, plans already running through her mind with what she could do with the small space she was given. By the time she was done with it, this place would be the most beautiful place in Tokyo.
"Let's get some more boxes..." Sango's voice brought her out of her interrior decorating ideas and back into reality with a crash. Kagome mearly nodded and followed her out the door and down the death trap Kagome liked to call her stairs.

"I'm telling you, she was totally into me!" An excited male voice could be heard drifting up the hallway, followed by another.
"My fifty year old neighbor checking you out at the gym isn't something you should be proud of, Miroku." Inuyasha growled, he was really getting tired of having this arguement every time they went to the gym. "Besides, she wasn't checking you out, she was missing her glasses and thought you were her tae-bo instructor, who she actually does want..."
They turned the corner to find the apartment accross the hall from Inuyasha's was opened. The sight caused Inuyasha to snarl. He was really getting tired of people breaking into that apartment. He'd never been able to catch anyone considering it always happened when he was gone but in scenting the air he realized whoever it was was still there. The sound of breaking glass brought another growl from deep within his chest and Miroku froze listning.
In no time he was moving, hands shoving the hat he was holding onto his head to hide his ears. Miroku followed close behind wondering what kind of excuse he was going to use if Inuyasha killed anyone.
Almost instantly he was in the door way, continuing to snarl and growl. "Just what the FUCK do you think you'r-" His eyes focused on the room completly taking in what seemed like millions of moving boxes and two slightly frightened looking women standing in the middle of the room.
Miroku pushed Inuyasha out of the way a little with the most letcherous grin. "Well hello ladies! Anyone interested in taking a Tai-bo?"
A/N: I realize this is probabally a very short chapter... But it's only the beginning and I wanted to see how the story took so far. The other chapter will be much longer... I'm hoping you enjoy my work as this is my first fic... It's nice to be able to say I'll no longer be a fanfiction virgin... Writing wise of course...
Ariel, thank you so much for helping out with this story... It means a lot! Keep up the good work, woman! XD
Chapter One
"Again, why isn't Kouga helping with this?" Sango asked, following her friend up a narrow set of steps, arms full of boxes. "And why did you have to pick here?" she glanced at the peeling paint in attempts to take her focus off of the creaking steps under her. It felt like she was going to fall through.Kagome, arms also full of boxes glanced back at her friend with a tolerent smile. "Because he has work to do. And because this is all I can afford."
