“You want to what?” Her black locks pushed forward form her face. Her dark brown eyes narrowed in fierce anger.
The white haired man smirked at the flustered woman. His ears swiveled around contracting the sound of her voice as it vibrated through his vast office.

“A divorce. Very simple, a quick and easy get away for you and that bastard Naraku.” Kikyo, his soon to be ex-wife fumed. They had been married for 5 years and now he wanted a divorce?
“It was not my fault that the passion ended. You should have been home more! I wanted kids…”

“And I wanted a stable life with my wife. You just couldn't see that. We could have adopted.”
The woman stood. Her white blouse tucked neatly into her short black skirt. Her long legs began to head for the door.
“You will get your divorce. I will gut you for all you're worth Inuyasha.”
The man grinned toothily.

“I'm somewhat glad I never bore children from you. They would have been uncontrollable whores.” His amber eyes narrowed to slits.
“Besides,” He threw a file at the woman exiting his room of work.
“You made sure that I couldn't have any the day you poisoned me. I found the files Kikyo. You've got three minutes before the police show up.”

“British woman poisons billionaire…unable to bare heir to Maffiano fortune.” Kagome sat on the squeaky rocking bench outside of her home. She shook her head.

“Some women just don't know how to treat `em.” She fingered the small blurry picture of the man in the photo. He seemed very content of the fact that his former wife was being taken to jail. Luckily, she would never have to worry about those problems. She lived on a ranch in Huckbye, Montana. Not some high rolling estate in Britain. She sighed; it would be nice though. The sun seemed to burn holes into her pale velvet skin with its rays.

Her black hair fixed into a ponytail at the back of her head. Her pale blue eyes squinted at the hot winds blowing across her face. A city gal she was not. She couldn't conform to the fast paced life of the locals there. She would not know how to cope.

She would be a bull in a square dance, knocking over everyone and everything and beating any shoe shiner to a pulp.
“Kagome!” Her sister raced out from the confines of her small blue truck. She had just pulled up in time to catch the girl before she went inside. From then on, there was no getting her outside.

“Sango? What are you doing here? Don't you have a husband to take care of?” Sango wiped her brown hair away from her eyes. She had been sweating in this hot June heat. Funny how when ever it got to hot she ran from the comforts of her air conditioned home back to the house that their mom had left them.

“The boys got themselves into a heck of a lot of trouble this time Kags.”
Kagome sighed. By “boys” Sango referred to the two youngest brothers of the Higurashi family. Ever since their mother's passing Sango and Kagome had hand raised the two boys. Kohaku and Souta both were in retrospect, hellraisers. They ran through women like they ran through food and education was a prority.

They were the most silver-tongued fellows the side of Huckbye and it looked as if they were cut out for city life.
“What did those two idiots do now?”
Sango drew in deep cleansing breaths. It was obvious that she had been yelling because her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were as red as apples.

“They got into a fight with some city fella' and he left `em high and dry outside the county office. They're pretty beaten up.” Kagome groaned in desperation. They were only teenagers. At 16 and 17, they already had a rap sheet. It wasn't looking pretty for those two at all.

“Is the guy gonna press charges or something? We don't have any money to give and the boys can't go to jail.” Sango ran a hand through her hair and adjusted her blue checkered shirt. Her jeans felt too heavy against her skin and he shirt was too thick. She was broiling in her own clothes. Kagome looked a little better since though she only wore a pair of cut-offs that seemed too short and an old plaid shirt that tied underneath her breast.

The top buttons were open most likely because of the heat. Kagome was modest but just modest enough to pull off the “dainty bell” routine. Slipping on her brown boots that sat near her porch swing, she headed or her sister's car.
“This guy really is something. He was kinda odd though.” The car revved up and headed for town.

“What's so weird about him?”
“ I've seen demons but he is totally different. I ain't never seen a demon with dog ears before.”

Inuyasha Mafffiano took a good look at the youths that sat on the sidewalk waiting for their sisters. The oldest one had shown up and set off to get the other. His white hair was tainted with dirt from the scruff he had had endured from fighting the two males at his side.

“What's your name stranger?” The eldest boy spoke finally. He was the walking poster boy for “Ruffians United” Long unkempt hair that was in a high ponytail. A shirt that read “Dead man walking” and a pair of torn up, faded jeans. If he hadn't noticed the he was in a run down ramshackle one horse town, he would have sworn he was at home in the urban streets of LA.

He missed the US, and then he realized why in the seven hells did he leave. It was bums like the two who sat on the side of him that made him sick to his stomach and that's why he moved to London. At least there was some order there. It still amazed him how he managed to wind up in "Honkey Tonk" Montana in the first place. He just wanted to drive around the country! He rubbed a sweaty palm against his fore head.

“He looks like he's about to pass out Kohaku.”
“Serves him right for coming to Huckbye. We don't take nice to your kind here city slicker!” The two boys began to laugh mockingly.
“I am so sorry!” It was a siren's voice, which brought him out of his state of hatred. She stood before him in barely anything with a tender smile and a kind look. Inuyasha's heart melted instantly. Then her face flashed a look of pity.

“Oh, I know who you are.”
Inuyasha cursed under his breath. He had been embarrassed all across the globe about Kikyo's escapades. He really did not need some country bumpkin telling him she felt sorry for him.
“You're the new landlord of the double H ranch aren't you?” Kagome's bright eyes went dull.

“I know you've come a long way sir, but we are not selling the ranch.” Sango cut in.
Inuyasha let out a sigh of relief.
“No I'm just a traveler passing through. My name is Inuyasha Maffiano. Your sons did do a number on my car though.” He pointed to the jaguar that had multiple dents and fractures. The engine smoked and wheezed.
“These are our brothers.” Inuyasha smiled.
“I apologize. You definitely look too young to have had children. 15 I guess?”
Kagome began to blush.

“N…No I'm 26. Close but no cigar.”
The other siblings looked on as the two passed pleasantries back and forth. It was sickening.
“Hey listen here. My bro and me run a repair shop down the way. We'll fix up your car no charge. Just stay away from my sister!” Souta butted in getting between Inuyasha and Kagome.
“Would you move you moron!”
“ Sorry sis, I'm just saving you from another heart breaker. You do remember Hojo?” Kagome took in a sharp intake of breath. Hojo had shown up as the Double H's land lord. He had supposedly fallen in love with her but hen she caught him with her cousin Eri. Eri had no idea what was going on, but Hojo did. He was just another fast talking, suit wearing, butthole.

Inuyasha seemed different somehow. His dog-ears swiveled and twitched as he looked at her from behind Souta.
“It'll be alright. Umm, what time should I pick up my car?”
Kohaku was examining the damage with his expert eye. Then with a last resolve he picked up his baseball bat he'd used to ding the car up with and slammed into the windshield.

He took out a piece of gum from his pocket and popped a bubble.
“Three days.” Inuyasha was somewhere in the screwed up part of the twilight zone. That kid had just caused him a three-day delay on getting back home. He wanted to get to LA by Wednesday.

His mother had been ill and his dad was as crazy as ever. If he got out of this without a bunch of angry relatives hunting him down he would forever thank whatever lucky star he was born under. Kagome smiled at him.
At least he had something to keep him occupied for the next three days.
