In the Mirror: Chapter eleven. Tears
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I've been a traveling man for a good part of my life. I've been to many villages, seen many people, and many different shocking things in my time on the open road. But the scene in front of me, as Kagome-sama would put it, `takes the cake'. I never thought that I'd hear any of the things that were coming out of Inuyasha and Kagome-sama's mouths. I understand Kagome-sama's reason for being angry at Inuyasha, but I couldn't understand why he was pushing her away by telling her that she had no friends here. I've seen him mouthing off before but this was ridicules. The only thing holding Sango back from attacking him was my hand on her shoulder, and the only thing stopping me was the very small glimmer of hope in my heart that was saying that Inuyasha would stop this madness before he went too far. Which I'm sure that he's gone to far already.

I looked to the left of me to see how Shippo was faring; he had tears in his eyes. I'm sure that this fight was the hardest on him. Kagome-sama and Inuyasha were like parents to him, and seeing them like this must be breaking his heart.

`'Houshi-sama, let me go. I'm going to bet some sense into him.'' She made a move to go after him, but I held her back. If our presence were to be made to them it would only make thing worse then they already are.

`'Not yet Sango, wait till Kagome-sama goes back through the well, then we'll wail on him. If we were to try it now it would only succeed in upsetting Kagome-sama more then she already is.''

She calmed down at my words, but she still had a roaring fire in her eyes, and it was all directed towards our dog-eared friend. Who was soon to be our fried-to-a-crisp-friend. Although I might risk the occasional groping of her backside, I would really hate to be in Sango's line of fire when she was angered.

`'Do you understand me?!'' I looked up as Kagome-sama's voice reached its limit. She spun around and jumped into the well.

The instant she did Shippo threw him self out from behind the bushes we were hiding behind. He used one of his illusion tricks to turn him self into another Inuyasha and went flying towards the real one. Before I could even yell out Shippo, now Inuyasha, punched the real Inuyasha right in the jaw and sent him flying back into the trees behind him. I never knew that Shippo had such a good right hook. And from the looks of it nether did Inuyasha. He sat there under the half broken tree rubbing his jaw, looking at Shippo, who again looked like him self, with wide eyes. A hot river of tears was spilling over his cheeks. Sango and I walked out from behind the bushes over to Shippo as Inuyasha got over his shock and was about to, as Kagome-sama would put it, `blow his top'.

`'What the fuck! You little shit, what the hell do you think your doing?'' He had fire in his eyes, but someone who was willing to look closer at him would also see the hurt there. Although Inuyasha acts like he doesn't care about him, we all know that Shippo is like a son to him. That's why Kikyo took him in the battle with Shizuka, so that he wouldn't be taken with Kagome-sama. Shippo didn't answer him; he just turned and walked back to the village.

But Sango wasn't going to make things that easy for our hanyou friend.

`'What was he doing? Do you really think that that's a valid question for you to ask him? Maybe you should be asking your self that. Better yet, I'll ask. What in the seven hell's possessed you to say such things to Kagome?! Have you really lost your mind? Or did you do this just to see her cry? Because we've all seen how much you enjoy that!''

`'Sango, please, calm down a little.'' I tried, I really tried to stop her, but once she starts it's very hard to get her to stop. Inuyasha stood up, but he refused to look at us. His voice was low when he finally spoke.

`'It's none of your business.'' Wrong thing to say my man.

`'Don't you dare tell me what my business is or isn't! Kagome is my best friend and every time I turn around your hurting her somehow! But this? This just went too far, what the hell was the point in all this? Were you trying to drive her away? Well you know what, congratulations Inuyasha, you finally did it. She's gone and I doubt she's coming back. So just give your self a round of applauds, I'm sure your happy now.''

Her voice broke near the end of her speech, and soon after she to was crying and headed back to the village. I just stood there looking at him, trying to figure him out. He still wouldn't look up. But he turned around and started heading in the opposite direction of the village. I wasn't as mad as Sango was, but that didn't mean that I wasn't mad at him. Kagome-sama was my friend as well, and I was going to get my minute of ranting in to. But when I opened my mouth only one word came out.

`'Why?'' He stopped, but he didn't turn around.

`'You wouldn't understand.'' He started walking again.

`'Tell me what I wouldn't understand. Because frankly I don't understand any of this either.''

He didn't stop.

`'Tell me!''

He disappeared into the trees. I headed back to the village.

It would be quite a long time before I would see my dog-eared friend again.
