Hi all! I'm back again! So I've got some news for ya so PLEASE READ THIS! Pretty soon (I don't know how soon) I'm going to go back to school. I'm going for my GED and it'll be night school of course, but that means a lot of studying (and my mom will ride my back to make sure I do it) and not a lot of time on the comp. I'm still going to continue the story but the updates are going to be slowed down. I'm sorry but this is my life we're talking about and I think it's more important then fan fiction. Now until then I will continue to write faithfully! Now ON WITH THE CHAPTER!

In the Mirror: Chapter twenty six. In the maze part 2

We've been walking for the last twenty minutes and we still couldn't find a way out of this maze. Maybe Inuyasha, Kagome and Sesshomaru took the right path and we're on a wild goose chase. But if I'm wrong then we would be practically sending Shippo, Rin and that other woman to their deaths. We can't afford to be wrong, so for now we stay on this track. Sango has not said a word to me since we entered the maze.

 

I wonder if she's mad at me for some reason.

 

I couldn't think of anything I might have done to upset her, and I was afraid to ask. You see, one thing you have to learn about women is that if their mad at you for something, and you don't remember what you did then they just get madder. So really you're screwed either way. But I couldn't stand the silence anymore; even Kirara wasn't making any noise. So I broke.

 

“I'm sorry! I didn't mean to do it and it'll never happen again! I promise!” There, that should do it. She turned around and looked at me like I had two heads.

 

“What are you talking about?” Okay, maybe I didn't do anything. Now even Kirara was looking at me funny. She stood there waiting for my answer.

 

“I, um. Never mind. If we want to find the end of this maze before our friends die then we best get a move on.” I said and started walking again. We made a left turn and found one of the longest corridors we had come a crossed yet. To the right was a dead end. As we started walking again Sango asked again.

 

“What was that back there Miroku? What were you apologizing for?” I didn't have an excuse not to answer her now, so now I make an even bigger fool of my self.

 

“I thought that I had done something to make you angry with me so I just apologized to make you start talking again. The silence was killing me.”

 

“Oh you silly Houshi. You mean to tell me that you thought that I was mad at you for nothing?” I turned my head to the side to look at her.

 

“Not for nothing. For something that I couldn't remember doing. I have a habit of making you mad and I can't keep track of all the things I've done, so I just apologized.” She looked away from me and stared down the narrow hallway that was not getting any smaller.

 

“Well, you do make a habit of it, but you didn't do anything this time. I just have a bunch of things on my mind.” She said. Kirara could feel her master's unease and jumped up onto her shoulder to give her comfort by rubbing Sango's cheek. “I'm okay Kirara.” She said petting the little neko.

 

“So, what things do you have on your mind? It might help to talk about it.” I offered.

 

“Well, for one thing, even though it's not that important, I was to know what happened between Inuyasha and Kagome to make her come back so suddenly. It doesn't matter though. Kagome's back and that's all I care about.”

 

She said with a smile on her face. I know she missed Kagome dearly after she left. Kagome was really the only family she had. Even with Shippo and I around it wasn't the same. And I have to remember to thank Inuyasha later for doing whatever he did to make her come back. I missed Sango's smile.

 

“And, I'm worried about Shippo and Rin. I don't even know that other girl and I'm worried about her too. Miroku what will we do if we don't get to them in time? Even worse what will Inuyasha and Sesshomaru do? I don't think that they'll be able to stay under control if they lose them. Inuyasha will be lost to his youkai side and Sesshomaru will go back to being the way he used to be. He'll probably be even worse. He'll go into his big doggy mode, as Kagome calls it, and he'll kill every one that Inuyasha didn't get to.”

 

I hated to admit it, but she was right. I wouldn't want to be anywhere within a hundred miles of either of them if that were to happen. But I had to keep her spirits up.

 

I didn't want to lose that smile again.

 

I put my hand on her shoulder.

 

“Don't worry about it to much Sango-sama. If I know those two their probably fighting Naraku now and Shippo and Rin are out of harms way.” I don't who I was trying to convince more, me or her.

 

When I looked back ahead of us there was a light coming out of a door way. My heart jumped into my throat. If Naraku was on the other side of that door I didn't think we were ready for him. I think Sango was thinking the same thing because she stopped.

 

“Houshi, we have to find out if that is Naraku so we can send Kirara back to get Inuyasha and the others.” She said. I knew it, but I didn't want to go up there and chance being seen. But it had to be done.

 

“Alright, say here and I'll signal you if it's him she nodded holding Kirara close. As I started to walk off she grabbed my arm.

 

“Wait a minute Miroku.” I looked back at her.

 

“Sango-sama, why do you keep switching back and forth between my name and Houshi?” You didn't think I missed that earlier did you?

 

“Well, I. I don't really know but I just. I just wanted to say…”

 

“Yes?” I pressed her she was blushing. Now what in the world could make my little youkai slayer blush so much? A second later I found out what when she pressed her lips to mine. This was the moment I had been waiting for since we first met. The moment that she returned the feelings that I've been trying to repress for the last three years, and I couldn't even bring my self to kiss her back I was so shocked.

 

I didn't even get to feel her back side. Now I know I was out of it. When she pulled back she was so red that I thought she might have had a fever.

 

“Be careful.” She whispered to me. I got my wits about me again and kiss her. She gasped and I took the opportunity to slip my tongue into her mouth. I was expecting her to hit me over the head with the Hiraikotsu but she didn't. Surprisingly she kissed me back. Shyly because she didn't know what to do, but she tried and that was enough to fill my heart with joy. I didn't want to but I pulled back. Time was running out and we would have time for more of this later, if we survived.

 

“I'll come back to you. I swear.” I said kissing her forehead one last time before I headed towards the door. As I looked through it I saw Shippo, Rin and the other woman hanging above the vat of lava, closer now then they were before. I didn't see the shape of the man coming up behind me. All I head was Sango screaming my name and Kirara transforming.

 

The last thing I saw before passing out was Sango running at me with blind fury.

 

Sango. Don't hurt Sango. And I was out.
