Innocence Lost
My life runs gently through your hands.
I feel the pull as fate expands.
The possibilities now unrealized,
quickly flashing past glazing eyes.
I gave of myself to this just cause.
No thought of I, no time for pause.
Now at the ending I finally see,
in the eyes of fate, there’s no room for me.
Tumbling downward to darkness, sweet,
my heart is still, no comforting beat.
But I will not go softly to this good night.
Something within me demands I fight.
I lash out loudly with cries and screams.
There is no comfort in death, it seems.
It’s the demon within who calls me to fight
for the life some say I have no right.
The fury explodes; it consumes my mind.
Death and destruction are left behind.
I reclaim my life, but at what cost?
My soul is gone, innocence lost.

A /N:
1)Noun: innocence i-nu-sun(t)s---The state of being unsullied by sin or moral wrong.
2)I really like poetry. I love to read it, and when inspiration strikes, I even write it. I don’t like to write constructed verse, though. It always sounds like Dr. Seuss that way. Free form poetry seems to convey more emotion. For some reason, this came out with both cadence and rhyme.
