InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Insanity ❯ Insanity ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
It was a very dark night, the clouds have taken a stance over the sleeping land, ready to give it its best. They move in more to cover every last bit of sky, to save no one from its path. There is a bright flash of light, to signal its coming. One minute later there is a loud crashing sound booming through the land. Something very small falls from the sky, then another one falls, and another. Another flash comes from the clouds, it shoots down to the earth, but not quite making it there. Almost immediately another crashing sound booms. More and more of the small wet droplets come down. Soon it is pouring with them as the flashes grow brighter and more dangerous, and the crashing booms grow louder. Five people run during this night, they run for shelter. Three of them flying on an animal, while the other two are running and jumping on the ground.

"We have to find shelter, and fast!" one of them yelled over the loud crashes.
"We can't stay up for much longer, the rain is starting to get to Kirara!" the other yelled.
"Can you hang on for a few more minutes?" someone on the back of someone else yelled out.
"We'll try!" The girl riding on the back of another then turned to look forward as she said," Inuyasha, do you see any shelter, or smell any?"
"Keh, this storm is fucking with my senses, I cant smell a thing!" Inuyasha replied. Another bright flash crossed the dark sky and the girl clung a little closer to Inuyasha. Inuyasha snorted, "What? Afraid of a little storm?"
"As if!" Kagome replied back. The following crashing sound followed and Kagome moved her arms from Inuyasha's shoulders to around his neck and holding tight.
"Let go, will ya! You're choking me!" Inuyasha yelled as he jumped through the trees.

Another bright flash caked the sky, this time making its way to the ground, right where Inuyasha was about to step. The lightning crackled where it landed, in front of Inuyasha's face. Bright lights were in Inuyasha's face, blinding him. Sango, Miroku, and Shippo, all riding Kirara flew down to them. Kagome tried to cover her eyes, but she, too, was blinded. This all occurred in about half a second, then, the lightning exploded. They all screamed as the light spread out, flashing against their eyes, their eyes un focusing and blinding them. they were all shot back, Kagome was thrown away from Inuyasha, he tried to grab for her, but he couldn't see her, all of his senses being blinded. He was thrown into the forest.  Sango and Miroku were both thrown to the east. Shippo and Kirara, to the west. It is unknown in which direction Kagome or Inuyasha was thrown in. After the lightning dimmed came the loudest crash, being in the center of the storm.
------
Inuyasha woke first, he was on the wet, cold ground. The cold rain hitting his face. The mud seeped into his robes. He sat sat up only to grimace and throw his hands to cover his face as his head thumped. A thousand noises pounding in his head a second. Inuyasha breathed slowly, trying to get the pounding in his head numb away. Once it was starting to numb away he rose to his feet to take in his surrounding. He was in the forest, it was still raining pretty badly. The sky flashed white for a second and turned back into its normal gray. How long had he been out? A dull crash could be heard. He was all alone, in the forest, he needed shelter from the rain. Wait, alone? Inuyasha turned in all directions, looking for somebody, anybody. All he saw was the black forest in front of him. "Kagome!" he yelled out into the night. He had to find her, who knew what youkai lurk at this time, to feed on the weak. "Kagome!" he shouted  again. It was no good, because of the rain he wasn't able to smell her out. All of his senses were still fuzzy from the lighting flash in his face, who knew those things could shine so brightly. Inuyasha then began to sprint into the forest, shouting his comrades names.
-----
Sango woke up next. She was out in the open. Her eyes opened slowly, only to be closed again in pain as a throbbing pain entered her mind. She clutched her head as she ever so slowly sat up. She tried to look around, to see her surrounding, but it was too dark. The rain was pouring down on her. She turned her head slightly to see some disturbance on the ground, other than her own. She slowly got up to her feet and walked to the large object lying on the wet ground. She didn't need it to be bright to see the shinning staff that Miroku had next to his still body. Sango gasped and kneeled to the ground next to Miroku's face. "Houshi-sama, Houshi-sama, wake up." She tapped his face lightly. He didn't move. She tried a little harder, still, he didn't move. She did the only thing left, she slapped him awake. Miroku was startled awake, causing his left hand to reach up and find Sango's rear end. "You idiot! Now is not the time!" Sango yelled. Miroku groaned and clutched his face. Sango gasped. "Sorry, guess your head hurts too, huh?"
"Yeah, that light was so bright, I'm wondering how I'm not blind after that…" Miroku hesitated before asking,"Do you know where we are?"
Sango blinked,"No.." Sango then made to get Kirara, "Kirara! Kirara where are you?" Kirara was no where to be found. Neither was Shippo. "We must have gotten separated," Miroku said," I hope the others are okay." Sango helped Miroku up as they started to walk north, hoping to run into Kagome, or Inuyasha.
----
Bright yellow eyes opened in a flash as the body stood up in a stance. It observed the area closely, sniffing fro an danger. The being sniffed something familiar, a friend. Kirara observed the area for where this friend might be, she looked unto the trees to little specks of orange. Kirara jumped up to reach the closest branch, but couldn't. With all the water in her fur she wasn't able to transform into her larger form. She had attained miner cuts and bruises, but it didn't matter, she had to get up that tree, and fast. She walked a few paces away and then sprinted to the tree. With the sped she was able to climb up the tree. Kirara climbed up a few branches until she finally reached the one she was looking for. The one that had the unconscious kitsune in. Kirara went up to him and nudged his face a little. He made no movement. She knew he was still alive because she could hear him breathe. she nudged him again, still he didn't move. Kirara sighed and curled up next to him. At least being high up into the tree would protect them from demons, and the water.
-----
Kagome woke up last. When she woke up there was a pounding in her head, so it took awhile for her to notice her surroundings. She lay at the base of a large tree. Her school uniform was ripped everywhere, and she shivered as a gust of wind and hard rain hit her skin. Kagome began to look around when she noticed she was all alone. "Inuyasha?" She called out. "Is anyone around here?" The trees whistled inn the darkness, giving it an eery feeling. She felt pressure on her back and she noticed she still had her back pack on her. She took it off her shoulders and began to search it for another uniform. After minutes of searching she didn't  find another uniform. The only thing that she could wear were her priestess clothes. No matter how much she hated them she didn't want to end up dying from the cold, so she quickly changed while she sat there. After she changed she began to stand up only to fall back down. She had twisted her ankle. Kagome groaned as she tried to stand up again. Finally succeeding she began to walk slowly. Having lost her sense of direction she just went forward and she prayed it was the right direction.
------
Sango screamed as she fell to the ground, tripping on her own feet again. "Sango are you alright?" Miroku tried to help her back up, but he ended up falling down with her. "We are in no condition to move around so much," Miroku said. They had been walking for about an hour now at a very slow pace, with the wind and rain pushing them back they weren't able to go far. Plus the fact that they both had head injuries too, didn't help. Miroku was getting very concerned for Sango now. She had been saying odd things about being able to see Inuyasha and Kagome just up ahead. She had said that a half-hour ago, ten times.  And Inuyasha and Kagome were no where to be seen. "No Houshi-sama, Kagome is right there, cant you see her, she's looking at us." Sango mumbled. "No, I don't see them." He replied. As he tried to get Sango off of the ground again, the ground began to rumble. Then the clouds flashed bright again as a figure floated down from them and landed a few feet away from them. "Well, well, we have some humans caught up in my storm." Her voice was smooth, her hair was a gold blonde, her eyes a very dark red. Her hair went down to her knees in waves of silk. Her robes, even though in the dark, could be seen as a peach color with splashes of pink here and there.
----
"Are you the one responsible for this storm?" Miroku asked.
"That I am," she replied with a smirk.
"Who are you?" Miroku asked. The demon smiled.
" I am called Amaya. I am a relative of the Thunder Brothers." Amaya said. Miroku tried to smirk,"It suits you well."
"How kind of you to say so, but I grow tired of this nonsense talk."
"So do I, Sango, can you fight?" Miroku looked down to her.
"Yeah, I can." She replied. Sango stood up shakily and grabbed her Hiraikotsu. Miroku grasped his staff. Miroku first sprinted toward Amaya, but Amaya easily dodged it. Amaya swung her arms in front of her and hard rain and wind came straight at them. They covered their faces as the rain pelted them. "Hiraikotsu!" Sango yelled as she threw the large boomerang. Amaya sent more wind towards them and managed to move Hiraikotsu away and back to Sango. Sango jumped away and dug into on of her many pockets. She pulled out a small pack and yelled,"Poison powder!" as she threw it. The powder landed behind Amaya and it sent out the toxic fumes to her. Amaya gasped as she tried to catch her breath. She covered her nose and couched. She then dramatically moved her arms around to summon the wind to push the toxins away to the north of them. "Heh! you think *cough* you can*cough* defeat me? Im just getting started!" Amaya yelled as she sent lightning strikes at them.
----
Inuyasha pulled himself off from the ground. This was the tenth time he'd fallen from the trees he was umping across. His senses were getting more cloudy by the minute and he could barely think. He staggered to a tree and he put his and against the bark to balance himself. He was breathing heavily when a new scent hit his nose. A rather large gust of wind hit him, it rustled his hair and clothes around. he squinted his eyes and he sniffed. His eyes widened of when the scent hit his nose and he went down. There was a toxin in the air and he had stupidly inhaled it. He opened his mouth to try to not to get more of the toxin into him. His breathing was now shallow and his eyes watered. "I….have to get….away…" Inuyasha gasped for air as he crawled on the forest floor. He could tell he was in the north direction, and the toxin came from the south-east. Inuyasha crawled as fast as he could to the south-west.
----
Kagome groaned as she had to untangle herself from the bushes that would get caught in her priestess robes. Oh, how she hated them. She clutched her head as another wave of pain entered her had. When she took her hand away she gasped. There on her hand was blood. She put her hand back to the sped and she could feel a little bit of the sticky blood mixed in with the rain. "I must have hit my head when I was thrown away…" Kagome thought. It was still raining terribly and she couldn't see very far, with the rising fog. "I have to find them, then find shelter." Kagome said. If she stayed too long without shelter she would definitely get sick and possibly die. Kagome quickened her pace. She winced as her ankle throbbed in pain, but it was too late to think about her own injuries when her friends could be much worse. She walked in the darkness. Now she was unable to see anything. "I must have wandered into the forest," she thought. Kagome could barely see in front of her face, maybe about a couple inches, but that was it. She kept walking into the forest until she tripped and fell into the mud. Kagome cried out as she felt something in her ankle snap, "I think I broke some tissue, or a bone," she thought. Kagome gasped as she felt the thing she tripped over moved, and then groan in an all-too-familiar voice.
"Inuyasha?" Kagome asked. The thing just groaned more. Kagome rolled off of the thing and attempted to sit up. She was only able to sit with her legs out. Kagome reached out to see the things face. She moved the hair out of the way and she gasped. It was Inuyasha, but he looked to be in pain. "Inuyasha, you need help." Kagome said as she moved his head onto her lap. Kagome took her bag and dug inside to see if anything could help him. Inuyasha groaned and began to open his eyes. Kagome was too occupied with looking in her bag she didn't notice that he was awake. That was until he spoke.
"K-Kikyo?"
----
Bright green eyes fluttered open. He sniffed around to find he was not alone. Snuggled up next to him was yellow fur. "Kirara?" he asked. Her triangle ears twitched and her eyes opened to look up at him. "where are we?" Kirara mewed softly. Shippo raised his head from the tree bark he was against and he looked down, it was a long way down. Suddenly a gust of wind came at him and he screeched. " Geez, calm down," another voice spoke. Shippo gasped as Kirara hissed at the intruder. "W-Who are you?" Shippo asked.
The demon smiled," My name is Amaya, I am a relative of the Thunder Brothers." Amaya said. Shippo stopped moving. Eyes wide, frightened, he stared at her. He would never forget, never forget the demon clan who killed his family.
"You don't have to worry about introducing yourself, I already know who you are, young Shippo of the kitsune clan," Amaya's expression hardened, "You and your stubborn friends are the ones who killed the last of my family! Now all of you shall pay!" Amaya's evil laughter echoed through the trees as more wind gusted around them. Kirara was hissing hysterically and was now baring her fangs towards Amaya. "Where are my friends! Tell me, what have you done to them!" Shippo screamed. Amaya chuckled softly.
"They're dead, at least, some of them are. I had to deal with a lowly monk and exterminator, but they have been dealt with. Now its your turn!" Amaya yelled as she blew wind and rain into Shippo's and Kirara's faces. The strong wind moved the branches of the tree. Shippo tried to keep his balance and Kirara helped too. Amaya growled in frustration. "Whats taking you so long? Just hurry up and die already!" Amaya yelled as she pushed hurricane like winds at them. The branches creaked and groaned at the wind pressure, and soon enough the tree gave out and started moving to the side, and fell down. Shippo and Kirara tried to jump out of the tree, but they were too deep into the branches to make it out on time.
----
(30 minutes before the meeting with Shippo)
"Hiraikotsu!" Sango yelled as she threw the boomerang again. For the last three tries they weren't working, but something had to. Miroku ran in front of Sango, "Wind tunnel!" he yelled out as he tried to suck in Amaya. Amaya laughed harder as he tried to suck her in. Amaya sent more lightning flashes at them, only to be sucked up by the monk. Miroku closed up his wind tunnel with the prayer beads. He was running out of possible ideas on how to destroy Amaya. If only Inuyasha was here. Then Miroku got the best plan he could think of at the moment. He whispered into Sango's ear, "Sango, if you get Amaya from the top and if I try to get her from the bottom, there is a better chance we can land a hit on her."
"Yes I agree. Lets do it." Sango whispered back. Amaya was getting inpatient, "Are you ready to accept death?" she asked. Miroku sprinted at Amaya with his staff n hand. Amaya looked for an escape route. Amaya jumped up into the sky. As she looked up to see where she was going she saw Sango coming down on her with Hiraikotsu in both hands. Amaya gasped. She looked down to see Miroku jumping up to her. With a burst of air and rain, Amaya used her wind to push herself at immense speed, to the side and back to the ground. Miroku and Sango noticed Amaya had disappeared just as they swung their weapons. They're eyes wide as they collided. Amaya turned around just as she saw Sango impale Miroku in the side of the head with Hiraikotsu. The force so strong that it caused Miroku to snap his neck. Miroku's staff had impaled Sango at the top of her head, going through the bone. They had accidentally killed each other. Their bodies landed  on the soft ground with a low "thud." Their bodies were slumped together, their blood intertwined with each other. The blood mixed with each others, and it mixed with the rain that still poured into the night. Amaya walked to them and kneeled in front of them. They had died with their eyes open, forever in a shocked expression. Amaya raised her right hand and shut Sango's eyes, then Miroku's. It was the closest to closer she would give at the moment. Amaya stood up with a wicked grin on her face. She still wasn't done with her revenge, and the night still wasn't over.
----
The forest rumbled as the tree came to the ground with a loud thud. Shippo groaned from under the tree. His life blood spreading around him. Half of his body was stuck under the large tree. He tried his best to move his head downward to look at Kirara, she, too, was stuck under the tree. "Looks like this is the end, huh, Kirara?" Shippo asked. Kirara flicked her ears toward him, but made no sound. Shippo sighed.
"I thought we could jump from the tree, so we could warn Inuyasha and Kagome. I know they are still alive," Shippo's breathing got more hollower as his breathing became ragged,"I just hope they can survive Amaya." Shippo's eyes turned a dull green. Closing his eyes half way, his eyes watered, and he couldn't help but post a small smile.
"Father…" he said slowly. "It looks like we get to meet again in heaven with Mama, hopefully you guys can meet Sango and Miroku, if Miroku even made it there," Shippo chuckled. His breathing started to slow and Kirara mewed sadly.
"Father, I missed you so much when you died, but then I met Kagome and Inuyasha," flashes of Kagome's smiling face and Inuyasha's smiles when he thought no one else was looking flew past Shippo's fading vision, "They both were like parents to me, and I love them both, even though Inuyasha can be a baka sometimes."
Shippo closed his dull green eyes and focused on his breathing. Kirara was now whimpering, she knew what was happening. Shippo smiled again as Kirara heard his heart stop, the tears trailing down is closed eyes, never to open again. He was dead. Amaya, who had been watching the affair, smirked at her accomplishment. The kit was dead and the cat would die soon, there was no need to stay any longer. "Just two more to go," Amaya said as she laughed, thunder rumbling each time she did. The wind picked up as she went away to the north where the miko would be.
----
"Inuyasha?" Kagome asked. She didn't understand why, but why had Inuyasha had mistaken her as Kikyo. Kagome knew he had gotten past the fact that both of them were two different people with two different scents. So then why? Was he sick?
"Inuyasha, I'm not Kikyo, you know that," Kagome said. Inuyasha tried his best to shake his head.
"no, you are Kikyo. Only Kikyo wears those robes, only Kikyo looks the way she does."
Kagome was way beyond shock. Why was he saying things? Didn't he know it was her, Kagome? He should know from her scent alone, along with her appearance. Did that mean he thought that they both looked the same to him?
"No, can't you tell its me by my scent, my voice?" Kagome asked, trying to keep her tone neutral.
"You sound like Kikyo to me," Inuyasha said. Kagome felt a pang against her heart. She covered up a choked sob when she remembered that Inuyasha was injured somewhere. As Kagome tied bandages around Inuyasha's cuts and bruises Kagome tried to keep a level head. Her head pain was starting to get worse and she could barely keep her eyes open. Thats when she felt the wind pick up and there stood a female demon. The demon looked down at her, "What are you doing on the ground?" she asked mockingly.
"Who are you?" Kagome asked. "Inuyasha get up," Kagome continued as she tried to get him up. Inuyasha got up with ease, Kagome couldn't even get off the ground where she sat, not because of her ankle injury, because she just couldn't. It felt as if she was tied down. Kagome looked up at the demon who had raised an eye brow at her.
"Inuyasha, you say? Where is he?" the demon asked.
"Tell me who you are."
"Aren't you feisty one? I am Amaya. Now, where is this Inuyasha you speak of?" Amaya said.
Kagome looked up at Inuyasha for him to say a rude remark, but he just looked down at her, expecting her to do something. Kagome looked back to Amaya and said, "He's right there. Cant you see him?" Amaya looked in the direction Kagome had been looking in. Amaya raised her brow.
There was no one there.
----
Inuyasha wiped sweat from his face as he continued crawling on the ground. He had no idea how long it had been when he started crawling on the ground to get away from the poison. He was traveling the slowest possible, so he would be able to stay awake. Who knew what would happen should he fall asleep on this cold stormy night, without the proper shelter. He kept crawling on the wet, muddy ground, his robes getting darker and darker by the minute. He wouldn't be surprised when he found the others that his robes would have turned black. He just had to keep going until he found someone from his group, anyone, even little annoying Shippo. Who knew what could be happening right now, they could be getting attacked by a demon and he wasn't there to help. They needed him. His senses were ever so slowly coming back to him. He still couldn't smell, but he could now see fairly well, even though the storm still hadn't let up yet. He could tell it was still dark out. He groaned as his hand slipped and he fell to the earth. After then did it seem that his limbs didn't want to continue moving. Had he really exhausted himself? He wouldn't let himself think that. He struggled to get up, but when he did hid determination grew more as he started to move again. " I can't keep going like this," he said as he neared a tree. He placed his hand against the bark to brace himself as he attempted to stand again. He fell to the ground at his first try, but he tried again to stand. The second time he was able to get to his feet, but there stood another problem. How would he be able to walk with out support? Inuyasha thought of this and scoffed. I can walk just fine without support, he thought as he took his first step away from the tree. He fell back down. Inuyasha growled as he used the tree to stand again. He looked up and saw a near branch that looked sturdy enough. Inuyasha used his claws to cut the tree limb down. He grabbed the limb and used it as support. When he took his second step away from the tree, he was able to stand with the tree limbs help. He continued to walk in the direction of south-west. Hopefully soon he would get his sense of smell back so he could at least try to track one of them down. And hopefully before something bad happened to them.
---
Amaya laughed out, "Are you serious right now? Theres no one there, you stupid priestess!"
Kagome looked dumbfounded, she looked at Inuyasha again, he was still looking at her.
"Inuyasha?" Kagome asked. Inuyasha looked down at her, smiled, and kneeled down to her level only to push her down onto the ground. Kagome hit the back of her head as she hit the wet ground. She looked up at him, his eyes glowing in the cold rain. Stars flew in her eyes as a painful throb went through her skull. Kagome tried to get back up, but couldn't. Amaya laughed again,"Haha, how do you expect to get up with all those bandages wrapped around you?"
Kagome paused. What bandages? Tied up? Kagome looked down at herself from her lying position and didn't see anything.
"What nonsense do you speak, Amaya? There are no bandages wrapped around me."
"Are you insane? Of coarse you are!"
"Inuyasha help!," Kagome called to him. Inuyasha didn't move, he just smiled at her as he now picked up her injured ankle. Kagome hissed in pain as he moved it. With swiftness he snapped her ankle more out of place. Kagome screamed as tears poured from her face along with the rain. With her good foot, she kicked him in the groin, sending him away from her.
----
Inuyasha fell to the ground as a sudden pain entered his groin, as if someone had kicked him there. He had to keep moving, nothing would stop him from finding his companions. As he picked himself from the ground he heard a scream in the distance. He could tell the scream was far off, but at least he could here it. And he knew exactly who screamed.
"Kagome, I'm on my way! Just wait a little longer!" Inuyasha said as he quickened his walking pace.
----
Kagome's sobs continued. Amaya was very pleased at the way things were turning out.
She had no idea what was wrong with the miko, but whatever it was, was pleasing her. She was going insane. Didn't she know that the half-demon wasn't even there? Amaya's laughter rang through the forest as Kagome screamed again. There was nothing hurting her. She had yelled out something about Inuyasha twisting her ankle backwards, but as far as Amaya knew, her ankle was just bent a little. But she had to wonder, who had tied her up? "No matter," she thought. Just watching her suffer on her insanity was enough, but she still had to finish her, after she suffered enough.

Kagome screamed as Inuyasha jumped on her and started slashing at her. She heard Amaya laughing behind Inuyasha. Then Inuyasha stopped.
"Come Inuyasha," Amaya said. Inuyasha got up and walked toward her. Kagome watched in shock as Inuyasha went to her and pulled her into a searing kiss. He broke the kiss to smile dow at Kagome, the cuts he had made bleeding. Amaya looked at Kagome and said, "Inuyasha, Kagome killed my cousin, Manten. Teach her a lesson."
Kagome's eyes widened.
"No," Kagome thought. "Right," Inuyasha said as he then walked to Kagome, picked her up by the collar. Her eyes pleading, begging. Inuyasha smiled darkly as stabbed her with his claws, going into her stomach, but not hard enough to kill her. Kagome screamed as Inuyasha dropped her on the ground. Inuyasha then slashed at her arms and legs, pools of blood coming from her. The blood stained his claws. Kagome watched as she coughed up blood as he licked his claws, the metallic taste going into his mouth. Kagome felt her arms and legs go numb. Inuyasha stepped back and let Amaya walk up to Kagome. Amaya held her right hand against her throat. When she used her wind at terrible speeds, it could be as sharp as a sword. Kagome wouldn't go without a fight, even if it meant for Inuyasha to get hurt.
----
Amaya had had enough of Kagome's screams. Even though they were pleasing, seeing her suffer like that, moving in bone-breaking positions as she yelled and cried out for Inuyasha to save her. She had gone completely insane, and it was a little nerve wracking to witness.
Amaya planned on killing her now, she probably wouldn't even notice. Amaya kneeled in front of her, ready to strike, but a voice called out,
"Kagome!"
Amaya looked up, Inuyasha was limping towards them, using a branch to stay up. He looked furious.
"What have you done to Kagome!?" Inuyasha bellowed.
"Nothing, yet," Amaya said.
"Oh, then how am I supposed to believe that you didn't tie Kagome up?" Inuyasha asked, not expecting an answer.
"I found her like this."
"And you're a dirty fuckin' liar," Inuyasha spat.
Amaya snorted, "What can you do? Using that branch as a weight for your body. Just stay put, dog, while I put this bitch out of her misery," Amaya said as she looked back down at the crying Kagome.
Inuyasha was closing in on her so she pulled her arm back, ready to strike, when a bright pink light snapped out from Kagome. All of their screams could be heard.
----
As Amaya began to ready her strike, Kagome concentrated on the last of her miko energy. Her blood was pooling all around her, causing her hair to clump up. Her white priestess top turning a lift pink. It was starting to get hard for her to breathe. Kagome closed her eyes to draw more power to her. She only had now shot to do this, she didn't care what the outcome would be, she just had to get rid of them both. Kagome felt guilt for having to do this for Inuyasha, but it was for the best. Hopefully he would understand that she did this because she loved him. This was to protect herself, and her friends. Even if she didn't make it out, she would have still protected them from Inuyasha. She understood now. The lighting blast must have caused something in his mind to mess up, and now he couldn't tell what was weak or not. By doing this Kagome would be able to save her friends from what Inuyasha might do to them if they succeeded in killing her. "It's for the best," she thought as she got all of her energy together. Kagome snapped her eyes open and pushed all of her energy out at them. The pain caused her to scream. It was too much for her, it would definitely be the end for her, but it was okay, she had to endure it for it to work. Kagome pushed more energy out as she heard their screams combine with hers. Once Kagome heard their screams die she stopped the flow of her miko energy. Kagome coughed up more blood, spilling from her lips onto the wet ground. The storm was now letting up. She had killed them. Tears sprung to her eyes at the thought of Inuyasha dead, and her being the one who killed him. Kagome cried for the next few minutes, blood still pouring from her body. Kagome cried until she couldn't anymore, now, she was just laying there. The last of the clouds gone. Kagome smiled. She closed her eyes as death claimed her.
---
The blast lasted for about a few minutes. Inuyasha screamed as his skin boiled. It felt as if he was melting. Inuyasha growled out, he could feel his demon blood rising, desperate to protect him. His eyes bled red and jagged purple lines went across his cheeks, his fangs and claws grew. Inuyasha let out a great growl as his skin boiled and burned even more. He heard Amaya's scream of pain as he watched her disintegrated. Inuyasha roared as he felt himself loose to the amount of purity there was. He collapsed to his knees as he started to turn to dust. He looked up to see Kagome, screaming with him. She was also in pain. A sudden scent came to him, it was blood, Kagome's blood. He looked at her as cuts and bruises started to form on her body, blood spurting out of them with great force. With each cut that opened, the louder her scream became. Inuyasha smashed his ears against his head as he crawled closer to her. As he drew closer, the more pure it became. He didn't care, he had to get to Kagome. Her blood was pooling everywhere, into her hair and to the ground, getting mixed with the mud and rain. When he finally reached her, the blast began to fade. Inuyasha fell next to her, her blood soaking into his clothes. He drew her into his arms. Tears poured from her closed eyes. Kagome's arms wrapped around his. She was about to die, he knew it, he was almost done too.

Inuyasha held Kagome close. Inuyasha smiled, at least they would die together, he didn't blame her for this. "You did good Kagome, you killed the demon," Inuyasha said quietly as he stroked her bloody hair. Inuyasha felt Kagome's body move closer to his own. Inuyasha smiled the slightest. Inuyasha closed his eyes. The rain was beginning to stop. Inuyasha held onto Kagome until the last of their life faded from them. They died in each others embrace. The clouds faded away as the sun made its way to peek over the horizon.

End----
