Prologue
Swirls of light surrounded the dark priests. Their faces hidden by the shadow of the full moon. The carefully chosen words were chanted under their breaths. The world was silent as they watched the sacrifice or light transform into darkness. Swirls of evil mixed with the silver streaks of fear that surrounded each person's nightmares. Falling to the ground, the priests tumbled in pain as they blacked in and out. Power draining through their very souls until they were merely dust. Standing in its wake, a shadowy figure, two red streaks of hair surrounded it face as it opened its silver eyes. Each with a tint of blackish red. Each eyes filled with the look of destruction and hatred. Its dragon wings opened up itself to the world.
A grave voice boomed over the magic. "Welcome Sukikage."
Kagome woke up in a cold sweat. Se could feel the dream weavers around her friends. Their magic draining the consciousness of their minds and leading them into the land of illusion. She quietly slipped away, merging her body with the spirits of nature, hoping to reach the cliff in time. She was having this dream again. The past was returning. Deep inside her, Kagome knows she should break away from the darkness, but that thought was merely a sliver of light in her now black soul.
Slipping through the barriers of the sprits of the tress, Kagome's mind started to wander. Remembering when she was just an average fifteen-year-old girl, worried about exams when she fell through her family's well and into the past.
Kagome smirked, her smile dark and sinister. Remembering how naive she was, how stupid she was just a few ears ago. Reaching the cliff of the sacrificial ridge, she slid to a stop in front of a black shadow.
"You're late"
"I know"
"That does not excuse you."
"Does it have to? Lets get down to business."
"Anger is around you. I can feel it in waves."
"I don't give a care. What goes on are my business and my business only."
"I will kill them."
"Who?"
"Them."
"How?"
"Soon miko, soon."
"Is he helping us?"
"No. He was lost with the others when trying to summon Sukikage."
"Who?"
"The black goddess. The one who controls the dark dragon Takuyashi."
"Oh. Did they succeed?"
"No one knows. All who were part of the ritual disappeared with out a trace. Nothing was found of them. Back to business."
"Yes. You will be attacking them?"
"Yes, lead them to Black Widow Lake."
"You know, you didn't have to make me this way."
Stepping into the eclipse of the moon. The shadow looked at Kagome.
"I may not have to, but it is easier this way."
Then. It turned and faded into nothing.
Leaving Kagome by herself on a cliff.
As the wind blew through her hair, Kagome remembered when she first arrived into the past, five hundred years ago.
Climbing out of the well, I looked around, thinking to myself that this is al a dream. I glanced in front of me and saw a white haired man, in weird clothes, a pair of puffy pants and a bell sleeved jacket, both red. What fascinated me the most were the triangular ears on the top of his head. I couldn't help myself and I felt the soft velvety fur.
'I didn't realize then that he would try to kill me when awoke from his slumber.' Kagome thought to herself as she slowly walked back to camp, where her "friends" are sleeping.
'Such interesting human, it's too bad that they have to be destroyed
As everything goes into slow motion, I caught the scent of a tainted hybrid. Opening my mouth, I screamed the word of submission. "SIT!"
A loud thud and a few chosen words were enough to bring me to another flashback.
I ran through the black forest; away from that puffy freak now know as Inuyasha. When I turned around, a series of white light was forming around his head. Creating a magical necklace.
"Quick child," the old protectess whispered. "Say a word of submission.
I screamed the first word that came to my mind.
"Sit."
My eyes were wide open as the very creature I was running from, hit the ground, presumably kissing the dirt.
A loud chuckle ran through the forest, the blacked haired creature causing it while a funny ear shaped dog dud growled at her.
'"What did you do that for?" Screamed Inuyasha.
Kagome ignored him, merely walking away while quietly whispering sits the whole time.
Even though her voice who a mere whisper, Inuyasha was in a huge hole that if you didn't notice a person was in the there, you would've sworn that the hole could talk.
"I'll see you at Black Widow Lake in two days. Bring the others. I need to be alone right now." She quietly said. Walking away from the scene and into the campground
Kagome mind soon reached to another memory. This time, about her first meeting with her other companions, Sango and Mirkou. The exterminator and the monk.
As I walked through the plains, a huge boomerang came straight towards me. Jumping down, I missed the spinning weapon by an inch."
"I'm sorry,"
I looked up to see a girl in a kimono and a guy who looks like a monk.
I felt something grab my hand. When I looked up, I saw the monk ask me, "Even though we are still young, when you grow up, will you bare my children dear maiden."
I slapped him in the face, knocking him down.
"I am sorry for Miroku, he's just really stupid. I am Sango and I am truly sorry about my boomerang but I thought you were a demon." Sango said.
"Not a...problem." I replied. "My name is Kagome."
This time laughing quietly, Kagome stumbled into camp.
Watching the humans sleep. Kagome picked up the arrows next to her sleeping bag and left for the lake. When Arustro was waiting
Two Days Later
Reaching her destination, Kagome came across the site of her gang, minus herself, all tangled up in thick black vines that came out from the earth.
"Hey! Kagome, get us out of here!" Screamed Inuyasha.
Mirkou and Sango stayed silent as they watched their friend walk to the edge of the latke. Both of them tried to warn Kagome about how Arustro was still alive and how he set this up as a trap.
Kagome merely stared at her "friends" debating on whether she should pretend to help the or not.
Staring at Inuyasha, she slowly shook her head and walked to edge of the cliff.
"Why Kagome? Why?"
Kagome's eyes flashed as she started to use her new powers.
Running from the bird demon, Kagome sensed a tugging at her soul. As she turned around, she saw darkness.
'The Shrikon no Tama. The ultimate wish granter. Everything comes with a price, even this jewel. But lucky for me, I created this little piece of junk, I am immune to its consequences.' Thought Kagome
Waking up, Kagome saw that she was in the depth of the woods. Blood was dripping down her neck. The jewel was gone.
The rustling behind her alerted her senses and Kagome turned around.
She saw a dark blue haired boy with a scar down his back. The goodness of her nature got the best of her and Kagome rose to help the fallen guy.
Inuyasha's eyes widened as the scent of Arustro came closer.
"Why did you betray us Kagome?" Inuyasha asked.
Kagome merely ignored him.
As she helped this demon, Kagome tend to his wounds. The stinging sensation woke the mysterious boy from his unconsciousness.
"Who are you?" The strange boy asked.
"My name is Kagome, who are you?" Replied Kagome as she continued to bandage his back.
"Arustro."
"Oh. What happened?"
Kagome sat down and listened as Arustro started his tale about how her was running through the trees when a wind demon attacked him.
Listening to his tale, Kagome decided to ask him to join her group. Not thinking of how he never explained how her got to where she was.
"Kagome, what are you doing?" A voice in the trees asked.
"Reliving the past, it's all there, my reasons, my hatred, my lust, my destruction, my demon."
As Kagome and Arustro became fast friends, she never paid attention to the small details of suspicious activity. But it all changed on an encounter with tracking the Shrikon no Tama, the group ran into Naraku."
Fighting off the power hungry demon, they didn't realize that their so-called friend was muttering a spell.
A mystical shield suddenly rose around the battle. Trapping all its occupants inside.
Without a moments notice, he leaped off the ground, aiming straight at Kagome.
Staring at the intruding scene. Kagome did the only thing she was good at. Running.
Suddenly, dark swirls of light surround the frightened girl. In the mist of the powerful energy was another girl that Kagome has never seen before.
The black hair with red highlights and silver and gold strands surround the emotionless face with piercing silver eyes.
"Who.wh. Who are you?" Stammered Kagome.
'I'll give you a choice. The darkness of the dragon of the flame of the phoenix. This will decide your destiny, Choose wisely.' It whispered in her mind.
'Darkness will give you power, flame will give you courage.'
Thinking deeply, Kagome thought of her choices, what could happen, will she be the same?
"I choose, I choose the dragon." Kagome decided.
The eyes flashed a sliver of red. As if scanning over her mind for any doubts. Finally, it spoke again in her mind.
'Do you have the Shrikon no Tama?'
"No."
The lips of the girl moved as she spoke out loud for the first time. "Look deep within yourself, summon the jewel through your emotions. Then, ask it for the gift of Takuyashi, the dragon of the dark or the god of darkness."
Closing her eyes, Kagome let her mind wander as it looked for the fragments of the Shrikon.
Reaching its location, Kagome used all her power, asking for the gift of Takuyashi.
As soon as the wish is mad, her body filled with pain as all her memories passed through her mind, taunting her.
A gentle whisper blew those thoughts away.
Opening her eyes again, Kagome saw that she was once more in the background. With now powers charging through her, Kagome blocked Arustro's attack.
Blade crashed against blade as the two battled, not giving either side the advantage. The fight fought on, no one was willing to back down
The Inuyasha group never showed their sadness in the betrayal, unwilling to show their weakness, not letting the other side get the advantage.
Before anyone had realized it, Kagome shot an arrow through Arustro's heart. Pinning him to a tree.
Using her new powers, Kagome deleted the memory of her new abilities from the group, setting Arustro free. For unknown to her "friends", she was talking to Arustro during the fighting and has agreed to help him.
"Why Miss Kagome?" Mirkou asked.
Kagome gave him a blank stare, before quietly answering. "I hate you, I hate you all. If it wasn't for the Shrikon no Tama. I would've left already."
Turning around, Kagome walked away. Leaving her dark prince to finish the job.
Walking to the cliff, Kagome sat down and wondered about her life, when did she become heartless, why."
A soft voice startled her.
"It's not your fault, everyone dies, some sooner than others. This is the cycle of life; don't regret what you've done. Look into the future, not the past. You'll understand your meaning in life soon.
The wind blew the sound away.
"Remembering, you can never choose your destiny. It's already chosen for you. When you make that first decision. The wheel of the cycle has begun."
Kagome's thoughts wandered to the words. What was their true meaning, and why did she choose this way of life, this power.
Arustro came up behind her.
"Your friends are dead."
"I know, I felt their souls leave the bodies."
"Do you want the weapons?"
"Leave it. Let's go."
Standing up and dusting herself off. Kagome turned to Arustro.
Glancing at the sword, she grabbed the handle and threw it over the cliff.
It shattered as it can in contact with the rocks.
"It must've known the world has lost and that its master was gone forever. Or the sword would've survived." Sneered Arustro.
Kagome watched the waves crash against each other, forever battling, dominance never give,
Reminiscing about the past gave Kagome a headache, the verbal abuse of Inuyasha, the disappearance of her father, the painful death of her adopted son Shippou.
Everyone was against her. She gave is all up for them and did they ever repay her?
No, not a thanks or even a word of encouragement. All they did was to tell her to become stronger and better.
She got better and stronger, but their life was the cost.
To become the best, Kagome knew what she had to do, even though it was not something she will be proud of.
Turning to Arustro, she whispered, "I'm sorry, but I really did care about you, you are one the first people to be kind to me."
Before he could reply, Kagome took out her sword and made a clean sweep of his head, killing him in an instant.
With out knowing it, she killed her own soul.
To become the best, you have to risk everything, even your own sanity and humanity.
Everything comes with a price, the soul was hers.
Kagome looked all around the lake. She had become the best. Slaughtering all the beasts that opposed her or challenged her.
But now, Kagome was gone, her blue eyes empty, a mere blank stare. A mindless tyrant in place of the body.
Her body has been tested to the brink of destruction. She has become a killing machine. The Shrikon no Tama has granted her wish.
Sukikage moved into. Stopping her soul before it reached to heaven. Planning on asking one thing that can change everything.
TBC...
I know everyone is sad that I killed Shippou but you must understand that he is not dead. He will come back so don't get disencouraged. Here is a preview of my next chapter, A Deal with Darkness.

Kagome stared coldly at her.
"I'm not interested."
"I'll bring you back to life."
"Still not interested."
