EPILOGUE

Alright, so, here it is. The final ending to this so called story of sorts. I was thinking of doing a full story, but I just don’t know if I have the time and patience. But, maybe if I get enough support, I’ll try it. And once again, there will be another…or two guest appearances!

Kagome couldn’t believe it had already been a year since the fiasco. So much had happened that day and the next, that she couldn’t help but smile at the thought of it as she entered the building. She smiled to the “guard” as she entered the same elevator she had so many times before. The thought of what lay ahead of her, though, made her smile fade as she got closer to the third floor. She took a deep breath to her calm her nerves as she got off the elevator and headed into the office space. Heads turned as she entered, but she tried to keep her eyes straight.

She saw the door to his office was closed and she sighed. “Kagome!” She turned her head at the sound of her name and smiled when she saw Koga. “What are you up to?”

“You should know.” She smiled at him and winked. “How are things going with you and Ayame?”

“Good. Oh, she wanted to know if you wanted to get together for lunch sometime.”

“That sounds good. Have some nice girl talk, seeing as how I’m stuck with the most annoying men in the world.” She scrunched up her face in fake disgust, trying not to laugh. “I don’t know how you can still work with him.”

“Ah, you tell me. You were his personal bitch for how many years? And the sad truth is, you still are!” He laughed at her as she pouted. She was just too adorable for her own good.

The door to the office flew open and they both turned to look at the new assistant exiting, looking peeved. “Looks like I’m in for a good day,” Kagome mumbled to Koga.

He chuckled. “You’re the one who mated with the mutt.”

“Ookami!” The shout from the door made them both cringe and look in that direction. “Back to work!”

“Yes, sir.” He turned to Kagome. “Sorry,” he told her softly.

“Now!” Inuyasha growled.

“Hard ass,” Koga growled back.

Kagome tried to hide the smile that formed on her lips. “Kagome,” he called a little softer. He really did try to control his anger toward her, especially when it wasn’t her that he was upset with.

She turned toward him and went to him. She followed him into that office that held so many memories now. He reached around her and pushed the door closed. She smirked. “That’s how it’s gonna be, huh?”

He kissed her forehead. “I don’t think other people need to hear my personal business,” he told her lightly, going to sit in his chair.

She sat down in her favorite chair across from him. “So, how’s the new bitch working out?” She giggled, but stopped when she noted his serious look. “What?”

“Nobody is my bitch but you,” he told her seriously.

Okay, he was being a little too serious for her liking. “What’s wrong, Yash?” He had never acted this way before…well, since they mated six months ago. “Did I do something, say something…some thing I didn’t do?” She was starting to get nervous when he didn’t say anything. He just sat there with his eyes closed and breathing a little deeper than usual. He would eventually answer, he was the one that had called her down here, so it must be important.

“Sesshomaru wants us to go out tonight,” he finally growled out.

“And?” She didn’t see the what the big problem was.

“I already had plans for us. I am not canceling them for that asshole of a brother.”

“Okay, then don’t,” she said simply, not seeing what the problem was. It wasn’t like they couldn’t have time alone after dinner.

“Shippo’s going to,” he said softly, looking at her.

“Oh. Well, that does cause a conflict. You can never say no to that son of yours, can you?” She gave him a soft smile.

She had been quite surprised to learn that he was a father, of sorts, to an adopted son. She never would’ve guessed that he could ever raise a child, especially by himself. So, last year when they had finished dinner and he took her back to his place, she was surprised that a child was not waiting to leap into his father’s arms. She thought that he had gotten a babysitter to take him for the night since he had been planning this night for sometime, she had just shrugged it off. Come to find out the next morning as he made her breakfast that his adopted son was an orphaned kitsune and was 250 years old!

He gave her a low growl. “What am I going to do?”

“Cancel our plans, I don’t mind. We can still be alone later.” She leaned over on the desk, giving him an eyeful of her cleavage.

“Oh, how I’d love to.” His eyes going straight to where she wanted them. “But, I wanted to be alone all night. I have a big surprise for you.” He looked back up to her eyes. “A very big surprise.”

She sighed and sat back, crossing her legs and folding her arms in her lap. “Well, then, I guess it’s your choice, mate.” She did want to be alone with her mate, but she knew it was healthy to get out every so often with friends.

“’Gome,” he moaned, “don’t leave it up to me.” He could tell that she honestly didn’t care, but he really needed this night alone with her. He couldn’t afford any screw ups.

“Well, maybe you could tell me what this big surprise…”

“No! I want it to be perfect.”

“Well, then, I guess you’re just going to have to cancel on your family.” How was she supposed to help him decide when the option was his alone. “We could always spend time alone first, then meet up with Sess and Shippo.”

His eyes suddenly widened. “Never mind. I know how I’m gonna do this.”

She looked at him. “And this is why you called me down here? I don’t know about you sometimes, Yash.” She shook her head and stood up.

He stood up quickly, catching her before she could open the door. “I just needed to see you,” he whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her spine. His lips brushed across her neck, as a hand smoothed down her side to rest on her hip. “You know how crazy I get when that fucking bastard calls me out of the blue. Especially with last minute holiday plans.” His hand fanned across the center of her jeans. “Like he hasn’t been planning this months. You would think Rin or Shippo would have the sense to get in contact with one of us. I think they just enjoying seeing me pissed off.”

Fangs grazed the juncture of her neck and shoulder, making her want to cross her legs again as she felt the wetness start to build. “They probably do.” Her hands locked around his neck, her body bending at an odd angle. “If only they knew it just comes back on me.” Fingers making quick work undoing her jeans, as the other hand appeared to lock the door. After almost being caught countless times had at least taught him one thing…getting a lock for the door was definitely one of his smarter ideas. She relaxed in his arms as both hands pushed her jeans down to her knees.

Hot breath hit her ear, making her shiver. “You love it, though.” A claw tickled her inner thigh, making her squirm against his body. “Too bad we have to be quiet.” The claw slid across her panty covered core. Her body moved backwards, feet dragging across the floor, until she turned and was set upon the desk. The kiss ended as soon as he kicked the clothing away and he turned around her so she leaned against the desk. He looked at her, noticing her tired form. Damn, maybe I did go a little too rough on her. He looked to her arm, and saw the small cuts from her teeth. That’s where the blood came from, at least. He picked up her panties from the floor and helped her put them back on. Then, he took her arm and licked at her cuts until they had closed shut.

“One good thing about being with a demon.” She gave him a tired laugh as he stood back up to grab some Kleenexes from his desk to wipe the drool from her arm. After, he helped put her pants back on and quickly got himself dressed before unlocking the door. “Well, if we’re going to meet up with the family tonight, I think I’m gonna need a nap now.”

He knelt down in front of her. “That’s probably a good idea.” He combed her hair with his claws, working out a few tangles. He gently kissed her forehead then her lips. “I’ll call you before I come home so you can be up and ready, alright?”

She nodded, a little freaked out by his sudden gentleness. “That sounds good, but hopefully I should be up by then.”

He stood up and smirked. “Are you gonna need help getting downstairs?”

She blushed heavily and pushed herself up, wobbling a bit. She met his eyes. “I should be fine…no thanks to you.”

“I can help you…”

“No,” she cut him off. “You’ll carry me and I don’t need anyone seeing that.” She braced herself on the chair arm, letting her legs get a little more strength to them. “Of course you would enjoy it immensely…wouldn’t you?”

He chuckled and nuzzled his nose against her neck, breathing in her newest scent. “You know me too well.”

She sighed and gently rubbed an ear. “Mhm. After all the shit you put me through, I would hope I would’ve learned a few things.” A low rumble escaped his throat and she let go of his ear. “I should be going before I lose my nap time.” Strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her against the hard body. “Yash,” she whispered.

“Yeah,” he rumbled, “you should go.” He let her go and made sure she was standing fine before going back behind his desk. “Get a good nap ‘cause you’ll be in for a long night.” He smirked as she opened the door to leave.

She turned to toward him. “Bring it. I can take whatever you got.” There was no way she would ever back from a challenge, especially from him.

Kagome hurried to get a shower and get dressed as Inuyasha yelled at her. She growled in irritation as she pulled on her dress and got her make-up on. Making sure her hair looked fine and no visible signs from Inuyasha’s earlier behavior.

“I can’t believe you slept through five phone calls! I thought you had died in your sleep or something!” The raging hanyou burst into the bathroom, his ranting caught in his throat. “You look beautiful.”

A small blush crept across her cheeks. “You look quite handsome yourself.” She walked passed him to get her heels from the closet and put them on. “Sorry I didn’t hear the phone ring. I guess I was more tired than I thought.” She finished buckling her heels and looked up to find Inuyasha extending a hand. She smiled and took the offered appendage.

“We should get going. We’re already late and I’m sure my bastard of a brother is going to have my ass for it.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll tell him it’s my fault. If that doesn’t work, I’ll just have Rin work her charm.”

“I don’t wanna know what that woman does to get Fluffy to change his mind so easily.”

Kagome smirked. “Probably the same thing I do to you.”

“Eww, gross! I don’t need any mental images of my brother and his mate doing those things.”

The ride to Sesshomaru’s was peaceful and calming. Kagome happily laced her fingers with Inuyasha’s as he drove.

“I can’t wait for this night to be over.”

Inuyasha glanced at her as they pulled into the driveway. “Why’s that?”

“So I can get my very big surprise. You never give me surprises!” she squealed happily.

He put the vehicle in park and leaned over to brush his lips across her cheek. “I’m glad you’re in a good mood.”

“Why wouldn’t I be…well, besides the whole sleeping through your phone calls and you bitching. I mean, I get to hang out with Rin and Shippo. Oh, what about Sang and Miro? They gonna be here, too?” she asked excitedly.

Inuyasha shrugged. “How should I know. I was just told about it TODAY.”

Kagome pouted. “Sorry, Inu. I just thought that maybe you were told the guest the list, since you knew Shippo was gonna be here.”

“Keh! That’s the only way Sess could get me to come. Like I give damn about the hentai and his wife.”

“Hey, the Houshi’s are very nice people. So, Miroku has a case of grab ass, but he has been getting better since the marriage.”

“That’s ‘cause Sango’s knocked all the brain cells he had left out.”

Kagome giggled. “That may be true, but you know Sango is like a sister to me.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll behave around her.”

They entered the house, well, it was more like a mansion, and Inuyasha offered to get drinks. Kagome nodded as she went in search of her friends. It didn’t take long to find Shippo, his bright red hair was like a guiding light. “Shippo-chan!” Kagome called.

The tall figure turned around and smiled at his new mother. “Where’s Otosan?” he asked as he wrapped his arms around the small woman to bring her into a hug.

“He went to get some drinks.” She pulled back and looked up at his face. For 250 years old, he sure didn’t show it. His physical appearance was only that of an 18 year old, and he still sometimes acted like it. “How are things going?”

“Good, considering I’ve almost been killed how many times now?” Kagome giggled at him. “It’s not funny! Damn possessive dog and his need to mate all the damn time,” Shippo grumbled.

“Shippo!” Inuyasha barked. “You better keep that damn mouth shut.”

“Ah, refined as always, little brother,” the stoic voice came from behind.

Inuyasha growled. “Can you not let me enjoy any of your parties.”

“And what fun would that be?” Sesshomaru asked.

“Where’s that mate of yours? She should be with you at all times to keep an eye on you.”

“I do not need a babysitter like you.” Kagome hid her laughter at the two brothers, and Sesshomaru quirked a brow in her direction. “You find something funny, Kagome?”

She blushed lightly and was getting ready to speak when Inuyasha moved in front of her. “Don’t fucking bring her into this.”

Sesshomaru’s lipped turned up in a small smirk. “Yes, dear brother, wouldn’t want to harm your first pup.”

Inuyasha growled loudly, ignoring the gasp from his mate. “You fucking bastard.”

“You haven’t told her yet, I take it.”

“I was going to tell her tonight, which is why I didn’t want to come.” Inuyasha turned back to look at Kagome. “’Gome…”

She looked up at him. “Really?”

Inuyasha blushed and nodded his head. “Yeah, are you okay?”

Kagome flung herself at her mate. “Okay?” she laughed and cried at the same time. “It’s so much better than the present you gave me last year.”

Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her, not caring for once who saw them. “I was still hoping for a repeat of that night,” he whispered seductively.

Kagome buried her face in his neck, hiding her blush from whoever was looking. “I might be able to do that.”
