Disclaimer: Nope, I still do not own Inu Yasha.

Chapter 27

Inu Yasha walked over to where Miroku was sleeping and kicked him. Miroku groaned as he turned to the source of his ribs' abuse.

"Wake up." Inu Yasha glared down at him. "I'm going out, you wake everyone else up and make sure they're ready by the time I get back." With that, he headed to the hut's exit, but was stopped short by Midoriko's barrier that was still active from the night before. He turned to her. "Would you just let this stupid thing down? I have to go hunting. We used the last of the meat with that stew the other night, and I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not in the mood for vegetables." Midoriko looked back at him.

"Do you promise that you will be the one to come back?" Inu Yasha rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Of course it will be me. You should know by now how desperate I am to set things straight." Midoriko nodded and let the shield down, and Inu Yasha headed for the forest. Miroku had begun his task by first waking Kaede, who had actually been awake the whole night listening in on Inu Yasha and Midoriko's conversation. Next he walked over to where Sango lie. He smiled down at her and thought it would be smartest if he woke Shippou up first. He reached down and touched the kit's shoulder. Shippou had been in the middle of a nightmare when he did this, so the frightened youth jumped and knocked Miroku in the stomach. This caused Miroku to buckle over in pain. He threw a hand out to catch himself, but the place it landed was a little softer than the ground.

Inu Yasha was taking a some time to just wander. He knew that it would take Miroku awhile to wake everyone, and he did not feel like being cooped up for the time being. His wandering brought him to the well. He approached the edge and looked down at the bottom. He let out a deep sigh as he looked back on the race he and Kagome had the last time they passed through the well. He shook his head and pushed himself away from the edge as he headed back into the forest.

Kirara yelped as Miroku's hand landed on her tails. Her cry woke up Sango.

"What's going on?" She sat up to see Miroku sputtering on the floor, Kaede holding Shippou, and Midoriko stroking Kirara gently. Not sure who to inspect first she looked around the room and noticed that Inu Yasha was nowhere to be seen. "Where did Inu Yasha go?" Midoriko brought Kirara back over to Sango.

"Inu Yasha is out hunting. Miroku was supposed to wake everyone up." She shrugged. "I guess he accomplished that."

"I'll say." Everyone looked to see Inu Yasha come in with three rabbits and two fish. He threw them where the fire should have been. "It would have been four rabbits, but there was a scream that scared off every animal for miles." Sango was now crouched next to Miroku, attempting to help him up. She looked at Inu Yasha.

"It must have been Kirara you heard." She stood Miroku up. "I think Shippou knocked too much wind out of Miroku for him to scream." Inu Yasha had set to work on the fire as Kaede began preparing the meat.

"What exactly happened?' He inquired. Shippou decided he should clear this one up.

"I was having a nightmare." He was clutching his blanket. "I was alone in the forest, and something was chasing me. I kept trying to get away, but I wasn't fast enough. Miroku decided to grab my shoulder about the same time that thing caught up with me. I didn't want to go down with out a fight, so I kinda ended up jumping into his stomach. Then he fell on Kirara's tails, and I think you can guess how things went from there." Inu Yasha let all of this sink in as he stoked the fire.

"Hmm. Well, I guess it's my own fault for asking the monk to do something this complicated quite this early in the morning." He got up and stepped outside. The rest of the group had finally gained their composure when he came back carrying an armful of sharpened sticks.

After their hot breakfast, Miroku, Sango, Midoriko, Kirara, Inu Yasha, and Shippou collected the items they thought they would need for this trip. They said their goodbyes to Kaede and headed out. Though they thought that they were ready, they were actually the least prepared they could have been for what lie ahead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
I know this one is shorter than the last, but I just had to get this up. Oh well. Still working on the review count goal, but I think it will eventually get there. So, here are the people that upped the total from the last chapter.
silverstarlight, Kikyou-sama, and Marangely - Here's the update!
NightRain - Well, I have tried and tried to get my own account on ff.net, but for some reason it just won't let me do it. I do have my own account of MediaMiner.org and FictionPress.net. I do use my own pen name there. It's Desiree Dee if you want to check them out. MM.org has basically the same stories, but it's going to have different ones soon. Thanks for reassuring me on the chapter lengths. I'm glad it's enough to keep your interest. I'm hoping to get this story very involved soon.
Hawk Niag - I told Dexter, and she said she would still thank you in her next chapter. I wanted to get at least one chapter up before you left, but if you can't get to a computer in that time, just think of all the reading you'll get to do when you get home. Well miss hearing from you, but we look forward to you having fun! I personally have never been to camp, but I hear that it is always a lot of fun.
Lylli Riddle - That's a good idea, but not quite where I'm heading with this story. The only reason Inu Yasha was able to do it was that he had practice. I mean, how would you feel if someone, no matter how close you were, had the ability to get into your head, and just start creating alternate universes. Oh, and stay out of trouble, the last thing you need is to get grounded longer. Oh, and by the way the answer to your question dealing with When Inu Yasha Has A Taser. A taser is usually a small black device used by police to defend themselves against hostile people. It emits a paralyzing electric shock when applied to the skin. They are fairly new. I don't even know that I'm spelling it right, but there is no way of spelling it on my spell checker, and the only dictionaries I have access to are from 1979 or earlier. I hope that cleared it up.
Tinuviel - Actually I prefer watching it in french, that way it is a closer translation, and I don't have to worry myself with the subtitles, though I do watch it all of the other ways as well, but that's what is cool about DVD's. As far as Inu Yasha loving Kagome affecting things. It was just proof of how close they really are. Because he had no feelings for, or attachments to Midoriko, he could not interact with her the way he did Kagome. I don't know I guess I was trying to give it a little bit of a romantic touch. I hope they clear up soon too. Currently, I can't go anywhere without taking a bottle of water and a box of Benadryl. Apparently, I'm not allergic to that, but the penicillin that was in my previous medication. I guess I need to avoid old cheese from now on. I just hope they figure out what exactly is going on before I leave for Baltimore.
That's all for now! Until next time, this is
Dexter's Sister.
