Inuyasha and Kagome returned to the feudal era, much to the delight of Sango and Miroku who were announcing the conception of their first child. Infact, Sango was so far along she was beginning to show. Inuyasha seemed exceptionally pleased and kept sending Miroku 'manly superior stares' as Kagome called them. Especially when he held his son in the monk's presence. Kagome and Sango took this to meant the child was a girl. Sango was thrilled, Miroku was less than. Afterall that fuss about bearing a son.. And his first child would be a girl!? Plus it was a crush to his ego. His 'rival' (albeith it was all good natured) had a son, and he had a daughter on the way. He was moody for a few days but Sango and Hiraikotsu soon had him out of it. Kagome helped by giving Inuyasha a few extra sits for good measure.

Koga grew like a weed. Inuyasha said that was normal for hanyou pups. They grew rapidly until reaching the human appearence of five years, then they slowed. The entire process took about two years. Then at tweleve they hit another growth spurt that speeded them into adolescence. Then they matured at a snail's pace. Despite only being 1/4 youkai Koga aged the same as Inuyasha had.

And when Koga was two Kagome announced that she would be having another pup.

This one they both named Kikyou. Kagome had no qualms about having a child named after the priestess, after all she had respected the miko greatly. Even though she was the number one rival for Inuyasha's heart. And besides, in the end it was thanks to Kikyou that she had Inuyasha in the first place.

Kikyou, was a reverse twin of Koga. Her hair was white, her eyes golden, but the facial features were Kagome's. But unlike her sibling Kikyou somehow inherited very little demon blood. This was apparent when she was born. So tiny and frail, just like a normal human infant. And she aged oddly. First slowly, then frantically, and then at a normal rate for humans. So that when she became 16 (by human terms) It soon became clear that Kikyou would be mortal. And it soon became obvious that the reason why was that Kikyo, like her namesake and her mother was fated to be a miko. And the demon blood in her had been purified, therefore leaving her with no demon power. It was a bitter price to pay. But Inuyasha cuddled Kagome and wiped away her grief-filled tears. And in the process they conceived the twins. If Kagome had looked and felt big with Koga the twins made it so she couldn't walk. The last four months of the pregnancy she spent on her back, unable to do anything except grow babies. When they were born they were little miniatures of Inuyasha. And both were boys. Identical. Kagome jokingly named them Akita and Shiba, in honor of their dog-demon heritage. Inuyasha didn't really get the joke, even after Kagome showed him the pictures of the famous japanese dogs. But he couldn't really protest, he didn't have better names for them.

After the twins Inuyasha and Kagome decided that five pups were more than enough and started taking precautions. Especially since the delivery of the twins had been even more hectic than Koga's birth. Another C-section. This time with infection complications. Inuyasha swore he wouldn't put his mate through that again. Sango and Miroku meanwhile were not ready to stop. Until they reached a dozen.. Then Sango started mixing impotency drugs in the monk's morning tea. "We have enough to start our own village." Sango often said. And besides, several of the children were barely spaced apart. And by then body had had quite enough of pregnancy. (But they hadn't reached that point yet, they were four - with one on the way, to Kagome and Inuyasha's five at present.)

Koga grew up the beloved first child, but really never had any intrest for the part. He shrugged off his mother and grandmother's kisses, cuddles, and treats in favor of wandering off alone to sit by himself in the tops of trees, staring into space. Oddly enough he was extremely fast, just like his wolf youkai namesake and even Inuyasha was hard pressed to keep up with him. And that was when he was a child. When he matured Inuyasha was far outmatched.

Of course Koga made his mother feel like he hated her, in that weird way mothers have of percepting their children's actions. In truth the boy just wanted to be left to his own devices, he did harbor a great respect and love for his mother, it was just extremely easy not to show it. And even easier to never say it. Ever. Inuyasha tried and tried to get Kagome to understand Koga's behavior, that he'd obviously just taken over some family trait like that bastard Sesshoumaru (the personality likeness between the two was staggering, and during one encounter Sesshoumaru had even mentioned it, in disgust.)

In the end he found that only thing that made her happy was the promise of another baby. So Kikyou came along.

The pregnancy was normal, a bit easier this time around since Kagome knew what to expect. And this child was no where near as large as Koga. "Keh. That's because it's a girl." Inuyasha said time and time again.

When Kikyou was born (naturally, and without fuss. Inuyasha had even deemed Kagome healthy enough to birth in the feudal era helped by Sango and Kaede) Kagome was happier than she had been in a long time. A baby to love! And one that couldn't scorn her affection, yet. Koga seemed disinterested, and distanced himself more than usual. He was only five so his wanderings were not permitted. Koga responded by being moody, snappy, and refusing to go anywhere near the new baby. But one night when Kagome was sleeping Inuyasha heard the patter of small feet and slowly opened his eyes to see Koga playing with his baby sister. The hanyou had smiled. So his son didn't have the heart of ice he'd feared, he was just different, more loathe to show emotion. 'Don't blame ya, pup.' he'd thought, then rolled over, cuddled his mate and went back to sleep.

As Kikyou grew Koga became extremely protective of his little sister, Kagome was shocked, but Inuyasha was never really surprised. When Kagome asked him about he'd just shrug and say that she should be grateful. After a time she stopped wondering and just accepted it. Inuyasha was happy.

Kikyou and Koga formed a strange bond. Few words were spoken between them, ever. And yet it was clear to all that they were very close.

As Kikyou grew Kagome and Kaede took to training the new miko, and when Kaede passed on (having lived to an almost legendary age of 96) Kikyou took over the duties of the village miko.

Kagome meanwhile tried to survive raising the twins.
