DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN INUYASHA! Nope. Not at all.
Well, this is all there is for now. Hope you enjoyed what was here so far! And yes, I know. I still need classes for puncatuation and all that jazz. I am looking into it! On another note, I know these chapters are a bit shallow. I intended the first few chapters to just be kind of like a prologue leading up to the plot in the end, but it didn't work out that way.. I do intend to go back and give them depth at a later date. And I know I switch views like crazy and that's kind of got to be irritating.. Sorry people!
Kikyou was lost. She had followed the aura of youki from her brother and his mate, but now it had surpisingly vanished. She was worried. Just what had happened to Koga? Sighing quietly the priestess sank back against a tree and stared up towards the heavens, deep in thought. So deep in thought that she didn't hear the rustling behind her, didn't sense the youki until it was too late. There was a crash, she felt horrible pain, and then darkness.
Mokusei smirked over the crumpled body of the priestess. "So you followed, miko-san? How very predictable. With his quarter demon senses and me to distract him Koga was too stupid to sense you. But I did. Foolish wench." Mokusei left the fallen miko for the carrion birds and spun off into the forest in a whirlwind of dust.
Her evil plan was set in motion. Koga, Shiba, and Akita were all sealed in a cave high on the mountain. Arrows through their hearts, binding them to the cold stone walls forever. By now it was clear that The Wolf Prince had not got what he wanted. Inuyasha's death and the hand of the Lady Kagome. Mokusei returned to the cave to await her father's orders.
Inuyasha and Kagome came across Kikyou a day later. The miko wasn't dead, as Mokusei had hoped, but she was damaged. Her memories had been altered. She didn't really recognise her parent's faces. She didn't remember why she was where she was. And it scared her to death why she felt that she somehow knew these people, and some instinct told her to love and trust them, but her heart screamed no. They lost her a day later, she went running blindly into the trees and used her miko-powers to mask her trail. "She's lost control." Inuyasha said sadly. "Her powers are raging.. There's no hope for her, love."
Kagome smacked him and ran after her daughter. Inuyasha sighed and went after the pups.
Kagome caught up with Kikyou on the banks of a stream. The younger woman was cut, and bleeding. Her clothing was in tatters, her white hair was a mess. Kagome approached slowly and was flung back by a powerful barrier. Kagome felt the impact break a few ribs. But that didn't matter. She had to get to Kikyou!
"Kikyou! Kikyou! Kiki!" Kagome cried out, running back as close to the barrier as she dared. She pressed her fingers against it, scalding and blackening the tips of her fragile flesh. She pulled them back with a hiss of pain. "Don't do this. Don't do this to your mother!" Tears dripped down Kagome's face.
'Mother.. Mother..' the mentally damaged young miko thought, staring at her reflection in the pool. 'I look exactly like her. Why? I do not know that woman. And yet..' Kikyou stared into the depths of the river. In the churning current she saw her reflection, distorted, and shattered.. And something else. Images. Moving pictures? Memories? Who's memories? She peered closer. A young girl, white hair and golden eyes getting a bath. Running in the moonlight with a slightly older dark haired boy. Riding on the back of a man clad in scarlet red. The man she had seen earlier. The half demon. Why would she ride on his back? Kikyou tore her gaze away, shaking her head. It hurt. Alot. She clutched her skull and moaned. That brief distraction was all the barrier needed to fall and Kagome was in. She ran to her daughter and threw her arms around her. Kagome clutched Kikyou desperately, chanting memories into her ears and willing, wanting her to remember!
"I don't know you!" Kikyou yelled coldly and pushed her into the river. Her golden eyes stared at the floundering woman in the river, and she didn't know why, but some subconcious urge told her to help her. She did. Kikyou pulled Kagome out of the river and then left swiftly into the woods. Kagome curled up on the bank and cried.
Inuyasha was having problems of his own. He had located the scents of his pups. It came from he guessed was a cave high in the mountain peaks. But the scents were strange. Sort of.. Unlively. And yet not dead. Inuyasha worried about what he might find as he made his ascent. He was almost to the top when something knocked him down. The pungent odour of wolf stung his nostrils. A wolf bitch. "Damnit!" Inuyasha swore as he plummetted down the mountain side. He had no Shippou to save him this time, and the landing would be hard.. CRASH. He hit a low ledge with dizzying force, several things in his body cracked, but his demon blood set to work repairing him almost instantly. But the pain was enough to make his breath catch in his chest for a few seconds.
"Wolf bitch!" he snarled up into the frosty haze above. "What the hell was that?! Are you Mokusei, Kouga's daughter?! He sent us!"
"The Wolf Prince sent you, hanyou?" a chilling female voice asked. Inuyasha snarled and his ears flattened. 'Where the hell is that comin' from?' he wondered frantically, his eyes roving the mists. The voice appeared disembodied, coming from all directions at once. It irritated him.
"Nice trick." he commented sarcastically. "Now why don't you come out from where ever the hell you're hidin' and we can get this over with. I just want my pups."
"Ah yes. Your pups. They're safe. Much safer than they are when they're with you obviously. I haven't let them get away from me."
"Well maybe if Koga and Kikyou hadn't been so dumb and run off and made their mother worry I wouldn't of had to leave that early in the morning and not notice them follow me!"
"Tsk tsk, Inuyasha. What a sorrowful father you are, blaming the pups for your mistakes?"
Those words burned. Alot. Inuyasha growled angrily.
