Chapter 8

The sun rose above the mountains, shining sunlight on the Western Lands Palace.

“Lord Sesshomaru, you sent for me?” said Sensei Kohaku.

“Yes, I have a very powerful miko who learn how to control her power. You will teach her everything she needs to know.” Sesshomaru instructed.

“Hai, Lord Sesshomaru.” With a bow he left for the dojo. Sesshomaru turned to Ayame, “Pick out a training kimono. Have Lady Kagome wear it in one hour prior to when she wakes up. Then escort her to the dojo where she will train with Sensei Kohaku.”

“Hai my lord.” Ayame bowed and went towards Kagome’s bed chamber. When Ayame opened the door, she found Kagome standing by an open window, peering out into the sunrise. Kagome whipped around to see Ayame enter and head towards the wardrobe.

“Good morning Lady Kagome. Lord Sesshomaru wishes that you be downstairs in one hour for training.” Ayame instructed as she pulled out a black and red kimono.

“I will be back. Please, put this on.” She laid the chosen kimono on Kagome’s bed.

“Ummm, Arigato. We’ve never really been introduced. What’s your name?” Kagome asked curiously.

“My name is Ayame.” She smiled and bowed. Ayame started to leave when Kagome caught her hand.

“I’m sure we’ll be the best of friends.” Kagome said brightly.

“It would be an honor, Lady Kagome.”

“Please, call me Kagome. I feel weird when they address me as royalty.” Ayame left the chamber. Kagome dressed in the kimono and sat on the bed. She looked through the drawers in the room and found only pajamas. She headed over toward the wardrobe and saw a golden kimono with silver trimming. She looked at other kimonos and then closed the wardrobe doors to find Sesshomaru standing next to her. Kagome gasped at the sudden appearance.

“Good morning Lord Sesshomaru.” She bowed. Sesshomaru looked at her in shock to never hear her call him by his title.

“Good morning Lady Kagome. Please, follow me to the dojo. You will be training with Sensei Kohaku; he will teach you everything you must know.” He said calmly.

Kagome stared at him. “Please, call me Kagome, my lord.”
Sesshomaru turned and started toward the dojo with Kagome closely behind. Sesshomaru opened the door and allowed Kagome in. She saw a tall black haired man with a small pony tail in the back. In a way the man reminded her of Miroku.

“Hello miko, I am Sensei Kohaku. I will give you a list of elements you can choose from and I will teach you how to master each element you choose.” Kagome nodded in agreement. “These elements are: water, fire, earth, air, darkness, and light. Be sure to choose wisely.” Kagome thought for a moment. ‘How could I choose? I want to learn all of them.’

“Sensei, is it possible to learn all of the elements?”

“Yes, but be warned, it takes a lot of time and hard work to learn all of them.” Kohaku warned.

“I look forward to the challenge, Sensei.” Kagome said proudly.

“Which would you like to master first?”

“Water.” Kagome responded.

“Let us walk to the stream by the palace wall.” Kagome followed Kohaku to a small stream that weaved through the garden. Kohaku sat by the stream as did Kagome.

“I want you to close your eyes and listen to the sound of the running water. Concentrate on the energy that flows with the stream.” Kohaku instructed. Kagome listened to the water flow. As Kagome concentrated on the energy in the stream, she could have sworn she felt the energy of a prickly feeling in between her fingers. Suddenly she felt a stream of moisture flow up her arm and around her body.

“Miko, open your eyes and see what you have done.” Kohaku said with excitement. She opened her eyes and saw a stream of water wrapped around her, looking exactly like a barrier. “Well done miko. You are learning fast. Now, to master the water element, you must make the Great Water Dragon appear.”

Kagome looked at him confused. Suddenly, she saw her Sensei try to strike her. Kagome dodged and threw a blast of water at Kohaku. He was thrown back by the sudden chill. He came close for a hit but Kagome’s barrier stopped the attack. “You must now fight without your barrier.” Kagome let down her barrier and instantly dodged his attack. Kagome then unleashed a big bubble of water and threw it at Kohaku. He dodged Kagome’s attack and suddenly slashed her stomach. She fell to the ground, gasping with pain, her hand clutched around her stomach.

“Get up! You must fight!”

Kagome slowly got up and faced her Sensei. “I can’t do it. It’s too hard.”

“You are not a quitter and I have even sensed that you were not going to give up.” He slashed her again, this time on her arm. Kagome gave another gasp of pain as she trickled water on her wounds. She turned to Kohaku and threw an even bigger blast of water, which Kohaku dodged and slashed her leg. Kagome tried to throw another blast of water when Kohaku slashed her back. The last wound took her last bit of energy. Kagome fell and started to weep.

“I guess I was wrong about you, miko. You will never master all of the elements let alone this one.”

Kagome’s anger boiled inside of her as she started to focus on her only target. “YES. I. CAN!!!” she yelled. As Kagome yelled, the sky darkened and out came a blue dragon that encircled around Kagome.

“Kagome!” Inuyasha yelled. He stared at the dragon that encircled her. Inuyasha started to move closer but Sesshomaru held him back.

“Inuyasha, Kagome has succeeded in mastering the water element. She now needs to control the dragon.”

Inuyasha looked at Kagome and the dragon. ‘She’s talking to it?’

“I’m only practicing.” She said to the dragon.

“I haven’t been called for a long time. You have revived me and I thank you. You may call me when ever you like.” Said the dragon.

“Arigato, my friend. I shall.” And with that, the dragon disappeared within Kagome. She instantly fell to the ground and rested there. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha quickly went to her side and turned her over.

“Kagome, are you okay?” Inuyasha asked.

“Of course she’s not okay, you dolt. Do you not see her injuries?” Sesshomaru said as he picked up Kagome. “I shall tend to her wounds.” Inuyasha looked at Sesshomaru puzzled, his face screwed in a weird position. He shook it off and paid no attention to it, then followed Sesshomaru inside. Sesshomaru went straight to Kagome’s bed chamber. He set her down on a table and turned to Kagura. “Kagura, get bandages, healing herbs, and scented oil.”

“Yes, my lord.” And with a bow, she left the two demon lords alone.

“What’s with the oil?” Inuyasha asked.

“It mixes in with her natural scent, therefore, covering up the stench of blood.” Sesshomaru said sarcastically. Inuyasha raised an eyebrow and stared at his brother, who was starting to take off Kagome’s kimono. “Ayame, get me healing tools.” Sesshomaru demanded. Ayame walked over to the bathroom and pulled out a tray with, what looked like, tweezers, scissors, and a needle. She brought the tools over to Sesshomaru and handed him the scissors. He cut the pieces of fabric attached to the injury. He then took the tweezers and pulled out the fabric stuck inside Kagome’s wound. Kagome started to moan pain and then began to twitch.

“Inuyasha you must leave. I can not tend to her wounds if you keep hovering
over me.” Sesshomaru ordered. Knowing Sesshomaru would win the argument, Inuyasha left without a fight. Sesshomaru looked at the rubbing alcohol and tossed it out of his sight. He suddenly knelt down to Kagome’s back and licked at her wounds. He took in the delicious taste one lick at a time. Knowing that he had healing powers in his saliva, he knew she would not scar and would be ready for tomorrow’s lesson. Kagome giggled as she slept. Sesshomaru finished cleaning her back and started to bandage the wound. He turned Kagome over and started to work on her arm. Again he took the scissors and cut the fabric. He then took the tweezers and started to pull out the remaining fabric. He did the same work on her stomach and leg as he tossed the bloody fabric away. Sesshomaru took Kagome’s arm and started to lick away the blood. He stared at the wounds as he bandaged them. As Sesshomaru finished wrapping her injuries, he tool in a deep breath and smelled a burst of joy, jasmine, and fresh sweet honey. He closed his eyes as he soaked in all of Kagome’s emotions and scents.

“Ayame, see that Kagome gets plenty of rest. She needs it for tomorrow’s lesson.”

“Yes my lord.” She said as Sesshomaru left the room.

‘Soon, Kagome, you and I will be together.’ Sesshomaru thought.

Ayame chose a set of pajamas and laid them out for Kagome. She started to take off the remains of Kagome’s kimono and replaced it with a pajama top. She then slipped on pajama pants to match the top. Ayame carried Kagome to her bed and tucked her in.

“May I spend time alone with her?” Inuyasha suddenly asked.

“Of course my lord.” Ayame said as she left the room. Inuyasha walked over to Kagome and sat next to her. He ran his fingers down her cheek and over her neck. Kagome started to open her eyes and looked at Inuyasha

“Inuyasha! Your back! I’ve missed you, you’ve been gone for three days.” She said excitedly.

“I’ve missed you too, Kagome. You have your whole soul now and Kikyo released me of my promise. Kagome, I’m in love with you and I want to be with you forever.” Inuyasha said calmly.

“Oh Inuyasha, I dreamt about this day. Kami, I love you so much. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Kagome said with extreme love. ‘Oh no. What about Sesshomaru? I love him also.’
