Chapter 20

Kagome woke to find herself in a soft bed in, what looked like, an apartment. When she turned over, she felt an arm tighten around her waist. She smiled when she saw her long lost love. She saw that Sesshomaru still had her mating mark and sighed as he scooted closer to her, then rested his head against her chest.

“You’re so warm.” He said as she giggled.

“Sesshomaru, what happened the last 500 years?” she asked.

“After you left, I felt all of the cold heartedness return and also that day, I found out that you would bear Inuyasha’s pup. After that, I found your letter and I vowed I would find you. Over the years, I watched technology and architecture grow. That little forest was the only part that I could save from demolition. I cared so much for that place that I couldn’t stand for it to be ripped apart. As soon as I found you, every bit of the cold went away and for the first time in 502 years, I felt warm and responsible. Finally I’m with you. I miss you so much, Koishii.” He explained. He straightened up and pulled her into a deep kiss. Kagome felt like she was in heaven. She didn’t want to leave him no matter what happened.

“Sesshomaru, do you know what happened to Sango and Miroku?” she asked him.

He smiled and said “Yes. After you left, they adopted Shippo and Rin. Now Shippo is generous enough to share his blood with them. Now Sango and Miroku live somewhere in Japan. When Tokyo was discovered, Sango said she wanted to live there.” He explained. Kagome’s eyes widened when she heard that her pretend sister was still alive.

“Oh Sesshomaru. Gods I love you so much.” Kagome suddenly gasped when she saw the time. She quickly got out of bed and started dressing. “Sorry Sesshomaru, but Inuyasha and Sango are going to be worried. I gotta go. I’ll see you later!” she yelled as she ran out the door. She then remembered her ring and put it on as she ran to the shrine. Kagome quietly opened the door and snuck inside. When she got to her bedroom, she saw Inuyasha sprawled out, therefore, taking up the entire bed. She quietly snuck into the bed and carefully pulled Inuyasha’s arm across her chest.

‘Fewww, that was close.’ She thought.

“Talk about fashionably late.” He told her. She looked to her side to find Inuyasha wide awake and smiling.

She sighed and spoke “Oh, I was hoping you wouldn’t notice. I guess I failed at being sneaky.” She giggled as he rolled his eyes. Suddenly his eyes narrowed.

“Why do you have dirt on your cheek?” he asked.

“Oh! I almost forgot to tell you. I found him, Inuyasha! I found Sesshomaru! I was out all night with him. He took me to so many places.” ‘And showed me some new things.’ She added silently.

“Oh, okay.” He said simply.

“Inuyasha, aren’t you excited that he’s back?” she asked.

“Not really. I knew it was him ever since I got a whiff of that fang. Now I can smell him all over you.” He explained.

“There’s another thing. Sango and Miroku are still alive! So are Shippo and Rin!” she added.

“Whoa! I didn’t know humans could live that long! I bet you anything that they are so old and wrinkly.” He exclaimed. Kagome smiled.

“I’ll take that bet. If I win, you do what ever I say, no questions asked for one week.”

“And if I win, vise versa.” They shook hands and agreed.

“So, how about we meet them today?” she asked.

“Fine! Lead the way!” he told her. They both dressed and took Sango to Kagome’s mother’s house. They dropped her off and got in the car. Kagome drove to a little apartment complex when Inuyasha cracked.

“Jeez! Where does he live?”

“Oh, we’re almost there!” she said as she parked. She got out of the car and lead Inuyasha up three flights of stairs until they got to a door. She knocked twice before Sesshomaru finally answered it.

“Sesshomaru, do you think you could take us to Sango and Miroku?” Kagome asked. He looked at her suspiciously but agreed. He walked past Kagome and Inuyasha and had them follow him to the next floor up.

He knocked on a door and said “Hey! Love birds! Come out and see Kagome and Inuyasha!” Kagome heard footsteps running around then saw who opened the door. Sango ran after her and hugged her violently. Kagome pulled away and saw that she had not one wrinkle on her face. Kagome smiled as she saw Miroku and that he hadn’t aged either. She smirked at Inuyasha, who was completely shocked.

“I won.” She told him.

“Keh, quit your gloating!” he told her. He turned to Miroku and asked “So, where’s the fur ball?”

“If your talking about Shippo then he’s inside.” Miroku pointed inside.

Inuyasha made a sound like a gasp and said “You mean that these past 500 years he’s been living with mommy and daddy?” he said as he started laughing. Kagome felt heat on her head as he kept laughing.

“Inuyasha, SIT boy!” she watched his face connect with the ground as she turned to Sango. “We’ll come back later to drop off our daughter if it’s okay with you. I have a bet to settle with my little puppy. Can I drop her off for the next seven days?” she asked. Sango smiled.

“Not at all. I would love to see my cute little niece. What’s her name?”

“I named her after you, Sango.” She explained. Sango had a tear drop from her eye as she nodded and pulled Miroku inside. “We should be going. Come on my little puppy. Follow mommy home!” she said to Inuyasha. He gave Sesshomaru a save-me look but Sesshomaru shook his head.

“Sorry Inuyasha. A bet is a bet.” He told him.

“Keh, some help you are!” he scolded as he followed Kagome down the stairs.

“Hmmm, too bad I don’t have a video camera. That would be something to save and show at Christmas dinners with the family.” Sesshomaru chuckled to himself as he walked back to his room.

“Oh! Wait until you see what I’ve got planned for you. Today doesn’t count so hope that Kami is on your side.” She told him as they got into the car.

“The hell it isn’t! Today counts. My luck I’ll end up in hell by the end of the week.” He told her.

“Now, now Inuyasha. If today counts then that would spoil the whole week.” She explained.

“Exactly!”

“Today doesn’t count.”

“Does too.”

“Does not.”

“Does too.”

“Does NOT!!” Inuyasha quickly shut up and flew his hands in the air for surrender.

“Fine! You win, jeez!” he complained.

“I know I did. Now, when we get home, I want you to book and airline and hotel to Hawaii.” She told him. Inuyasha tilted his head in confusion.

“Why?” he asked.

“That was part of the deal, no questions asked.” She stated.

“Damn! Damn! Damn!” Inuyasha said under his breath.

“I can not wait to unleash what I have in store for you.” She said excitedly.

“Oi! Cut it out, wench! You’re only making me more curious!” ‘And worried.’ He mentally added.

“Well, that’s all the more reason to torment you.” She said with a grin. Inuyasha flattened his ears, folded his arms across his chest, and stuck his nose in the air.

“I love you but damn! You can be such a bitch!” he snarled.

“Born and raised as one. You shouldn’t talk mister big shot! You’re not all full of honey.” Suddenly, Kagome’s mind brought up an idea that she had to make an evil grin. Inuyasha saw the grin from the corner of his eye that made him want to jump out of the car and run off.

“Kagome, I don’t like the way you’re smiling. What are you gonna do?” he asked nervously.

“You’ll have to wait and find out.” She told him. After much bickering and fighting, they dropped their daughter off at Sango’s and Inuyasha booked the flight.

“Okay, we’re set to leave tonight at 6:30, and it is now….” He stopped to look at his watch. “3:00.”

“Good. Start packing.” She said as she pulled out a suitcase.
