Chapter 8
“What!?  Why?”
“Because, I want you near me.  You can turn around if it would make you more comfortable.
“Okay,” Kagome sighed.
Inuyasha reluctantly let her go and started taking off his clothes.  As he was slipping on the pants that went with the yukata, Kagome asked a question.
“Inuyasha?  Yesterday…did you like it?”
“Like what?”
Kagome wished she could have slapped him right then, “what do you mean `like what?'  Us, what we did, the s…”
“DON'T!”  He cut her off.  “Don't say it, Kagome.  I keep trying to forget about that mistake.  Maybe you should too.”
Kagome was on the verge of crying, “I don't think I want to forget about it.”
“Why?  What I did to you; what I took from you, it's unforgivable.”
“You weren't the only one laying on the bath room floor, Inuyasha.  I did it too.  I know that we were caught up in the heat of the moment, but it was still US . I wanted you, you wanted me, and so I let you have me.  You didn't take anything.  You can't forcibly take what is freely given.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
Inuyasha wrapped his arms around Kagome from behind, “Kagome…”
She tried to turn and face him but he wouldn't let her, “Inuyasha, I…”
“Don't Kagome, I just want…I don't know what I want, but don't talk anymore.  I don't think I can be with anyone else, but I don't think I'm ready to be with you either.”
“Inuyasha, hear me out.  I know right now you're trying to listen to your heart and that's hard to do when your thoughts drown it out.  Stop thinking and just feel.  Let your thoughts just go away and all that will be left is what you truly want.  I will abide by what ever decision you make but try to make it the right one.”
He let her go, “Kagome…”
She turned around in his arms and nuzzled his chest through his open yukata.  He held her close; he didn't want to let her go.  Kagome breathed in his scent, the smell of wet moss and the forest.  She loved his smell.  She kissed his chest.  Inuyasha moaned softly, her soft lips were driving him crazy.
“Kagome…” He moaned again, as he pushed her away and took her lips with his.  It was a sweet kiss and deep.
She broke it this, “you're right now isn't a good time.”
“Kagome!  Inuyasha!  Breakfast!”  Her mother called from downstairs.
“Coming!”  She called back, “let's go we don't want to miss anything.”
Inuyasha and Kagome walked down stairs together after he closed his yukata.  They sat down together to a very simple breakfast.  Souta was bleary eyed in a deep blue yukata.  Mrs. Higurashi was wearing a simple white kimono with pink sakura similar to her daughter's.
“Kagome, here,” she said handing Kagome a hair clip with a silk flower and long ribbons, “put this in your hair to keep it out of your face.”
Kagome put the decoration on in the hall mirror and came back into the dining room, “how do I look?”
“Lovely, dear.  What do you think, Inuyasha?”
“Feh,” he said snottily.
“What's that supposed to mean?” she asked sitting back down next to him.
Inuyasha leaned in to whisper in her ear, “it means I don't think I should let your family hear me.”  He snuck a nuzzle behind her hair.
“Inuyasha!  Get off,” she said quietly, pushing him away.
Souta looked at Inuyasha and his sister.  Why were they acting so weird?
They start of the week long festival was the welcoming of the sun.  Grandfather had hired taiko drummers to perform.  Inuyasha stood in the crowd with his arms around Kagome's waist and his head on her shoulder.
When he was sure no one could hear him, he whispered quietly in Kagome's ear.  “To answer your questions from earlier, I think you are beautiful and I didn't like it, I loved it.”
Kagome wished she could kiss him, but he had to settle for his growing fangs softly grazing her neck.  It gave her chills and she let out a soft moan.
“Shh, later,” he softly growled into her neck.
Up on the stage Grandfather announced the beginning of the festival.
