“Mom, where'd you put the antibiotics?”

 

Kagome pushed more bottles aside, searching the medicine cabinet for first aid supplies to take back to the feudal era.

 

“Top right-hand corner, honey!”

 

Kagome looked up. There they were.

 

“Thanks mom!” She picked up the bottle of antibiotics and was about to shut the cabinet door when something caught her eye. A small light blue bottle that had been hidden behind the antibiotics was now visible. Its color caught her eye, and its label sparked her interest.

 

`Benadryl

Warning: May cause temporary drowsiness.'

 

Kagome smiled. It was just what she needed.

“Inuyasha, I'm back!” Kagome was greeted by an anxious hanyou sniffing her backpack.

 

“Did you bring Ramen?”

 

Kagome giggled. “No, silly. I went back for first aid supplies, remember?”

 

Inuyasha crossed his arms. “Keh, you still could've brought some Ramen.”

 

Normally Kagome would've gotten mad, but she had expected his rudeness and it was all a part of her plan.

 

“Hmm…” Kagome put her finger on her chin and pretended to think. “I guess if you really wanted some, I could always bring you back to my time and make you some.”

 

Inuyasha started drooling at the thought of freshly-made Ramen.

 

Kagome laughed. “I'm guessing that's a yes. Just let me give the antibiotics to Sango, and we can go back and get you some food.”

Inuyasha happily slurped his Ramen in Kagome's time. He was too busy enjoying the flavor, and too trusting of Kagome, to notice that she had slipped a couple of Benadryl into his food. The pills had already dissolved, and there was only a slight change in taste. Now all Kagome had to do was sit back and wait.

Inuyasha sat on Kagome's bed, drinking in her pleasant scent. She had asked him to wait for her while she helped her grandfather clean up the shrine.

 

Slowly, all of the scents in the room started to grow stronger until they threatened to overwhelm him. He tried to stand up, but he felt too tired to move. He sluggishly pulled his arm up to cover his nose.

 

`What the hell is happening to me?' he wondered. He felt weaker that he did even on the night of the new moon. Everything looked kind of blurry, and a fog settled over his mind.

 

The bedroom door opened, and Kagome stepped in. When she saw the glazed-over look in his eyes, she smiled nervously. His mind had cleared when she stepped in, and his vision was improving. It was time.

 

Quickly, she stepped into the closet to change. Inuyasha stared at the closed doors wondering again what the hell was going on. He nearly had a heart attack when her CD player turned on and she stepped out of the closet.

 

Inuyasha's breath caught in his throat when he saw what she was wearing. Kagome was smiling seductively, leaning her back on the closet door for support. She had a tiny red silk and lace dress on. The bottom barely reached her thighs, and the spaghetti straps were slipping off her shoulders. Her hair was pulled loosely up into a clip, with strands falling down, caressing her neck and face. In the background, Shania Twain's From This Moment was playing.

 

Kagome walked towards Inuyasha, her hips swaying to the music. Inuyasha gulped, trying to control himself. When Kagome reached him, she gently pushed him down onto the bed. She straddled him, then leaned down and whispereed in his ear the words to the song.

 

“From this moment, life has begun.

From this moment, you are the one.

Right beside you is where I belong

From this moment on.

From this moment, I have been blessed.

I live only for your happiness.

And for your love, I'd give my last breath,

From this moment on.”

 

She kissed his cheek, then his lips, slipping her tongue into his mouth. Inuyasha was shocked at first, but soon kissed her back with fervor. After a second, she drew back and whispered into his ear again.

 

“From this moment,

As long as I live, I will love you.

I promise you this,

There is nothing I wouldn't give,

From this moment on.”

 

Kagome kissed the top of his furry ear during a break in the song, making Inuyasha gasp. It was the first sound he had made since Kagome had straddled him. He felt paralyzed, but there wasn't time to think as she began whispering in his ear once more.

 

“You're the reason I believe in love,

And you're the answer to my prayers from up above.

All we need is just the two of us.

My dreams came true because of you.

From the moment,

As long as I live, I will love you.

I promise you this,

There is nothing I wouldn't give

From this moment on.”

 

As the song came to an end, Kagome pushed his haori back and gently nipped his shoulder, an inu-youkai gesture that asked the dominant one to mate for life. “Inuyasha, I love you. I'm not sure if you love me but I had to find out, so I slipped some medicine into your Ramen. It should wear off soon. Please don't be too mad at me.”

 

She rested her head on his chest, waiting nervously for his answer.

 

Inuyasha wasn't quite sure what to think. Sure, he liked Kagome a lot, maybe even loved her, but what about Kikyo? She was his first love. She used to be his only love. Now he was confused. As he felt the effects of the medicine wear of, he thought of the two women. Kikyo was dead, yet she was still here with him. He and Kikyo had gone through so much together. But Kagome…

 

`It's time to make a decision,' his conscious told him. `Who will you choose?'

 

When the effects of the medicine were completely gone, Inuyasha still hadn't made his decision. He sat up quickly, causing Kagome to almost fall off the bed. She rolled over and was lying down next to him. He looked at her face, her hair, her eyes, and felt something inside of him snap. The hesitation, the wariness, the caution, they all disappeared when he saw the love in her eyes. He leaned down and kissed her, showing his love without a single word.

 

He had chosen Kagome.
