Chapter 2
The sun had finally set over the horizon as the small group made camp a few miles away from the village.
Sango was already in her bed roll and the monk was resting against a tree. Both sound asleep.
They had made it through yet another tiring day full of slaying demons and searching for the remaining jewel shard.
Inuyasha was perched in a branch and looked down at his companions, waiting until he was certain the kistune was asleep before he'd beckon for Kagome.
-Kagome...- just her name made him smile like a child. He could see that she was settled in her sleeping bag, though her breathing patterns gave away of her still being awake. The kit however had barely made it into the bag before he was dreaming.
Inuyasha watched the rise and fall of her bag as she breathed. He could smell her from his position and relished in how fresh she was.
Like flowers and sunshine.
He had been so distracted by his thoughts that he didn't even see one of Kikyou's shikigami fly by him.
He only noticed it when he caught her scent in the wind. -Kikyou....?!- His head jerked in the direction of the scent and he was off, chasing after shadows in search of her.
She saw the shikigami and couldn't believe her eyes. -I thought.....Kikyou's dead.....Inuyasha- Those dark orbs had searched him out in his usual spot, but he was gone.
A soft defeated sigh escaped her before she got up. - Even in death....He runs to her.-
Soft foot falls led her to a clearing, upon which the sight that met her eyes caused a gasp of breath.
" Kikyou.....I thought you died....." Inuyasha was whispering into her hair as he held her close.
Kikyou just clung to him, her face hidden against his chest.
Meanwhile, Kagome hid herself behind one of the larger trees to watch, though for what reason she did not know.
Seeing them together like this always broke her heart, yet she couldn't tear her gaze away.
Just recently she confessed her love to Naraku's detachments when that baby tried holding her soul.
With only moments later, Inuyasha had burst in to save her. Thankfully he didn't catch her blunt confession.
And now....a mere few weeks later, he was holding onto Kikyou.
Embraced so tigthtly, there was no room for any other soul to interfere.
-Baka Inuyasha!- Kagome thought, turning away to head back to camp. She was angry, though that didn't stop the trail of tears that followed.
Kikyou had felt her reincarnation approach, for they shared a soul. Though she kept this knowledge to herself.
-Inuyasha is mine....Kagome. I had his heart first. He is bound to me....for eternity.
"Kikyou....are you listening?" She was so wrapped in her own thoughts that she didn't hear Inuyasha. Lifeless eyes looked up into amber colored ones.
" I'm sorry....What did you say?"
Inuyasha sighed and broke his embrace with her.
" I said.....my promise to you no longer is valid. Once you were considered dead......I put our past to rest. I have sworn myself to another...." He couldn't quite meet her eyes, he watched the ground after he spoke, awaiting her answer.

Chapter 2
