Chapter 1: Sweet Beginnings

 

I walk into the house from work and two very unique smells assault my nose. One is the glorious smell of homemade meatloaf, twice baked potatoes, and corn cooking on the stove thanks to Stephanie. (Who would have thought that western food could be so tasty?) The other is the smell of chlorine cuz ashley is dying her hair again. I hear a male voice booming in the living and recognize it as Stevie's. I feel the warmth of the heater wash over me and chase the cold from my bones. I'm home.

 

And then of course from the kitchen comes the never ending nagging.

 

“Close the damn door!” Steven and I recite it along with Stephanie. She comes out from the kitchen looks us both down and we all start laughing. It is such a nice feeling coming home.

 

“So Kagome, how was work?” said Stephanie with a large grin on her face.

 

I grimace, then send her a glare. “Do Not refer to that Hellhole as work.” She laughs.

 

“Okay sweetie dinner will be ready in about a hour. We have to wait for John and Chris”

 

“Okay mom.”

 

“STOP CALLING ME MOM!!!” I laugh all the way to my room. It's a simplistic room; purple-blue walls, a four-poster water bed, bookshelf, chester drawers, and a wardrobe all made out of Oak and built by Stephanie.

 

I grab my laptop, jump on the bed, and sign in to Yahoo IM.

 

Before the server finishes loading Full_moon_dog starts messaging me.

 

Full_moon_dog: Sweetie are you there?

Full_moon_dog: Hello? Broken?

Full_moon_dog: Are you there? Hello?

Full_moon_dog: BUZZ!

Broken42: Hold it already damn

Full_moon_dog: I thought you left me

Broken42: I told you I have to work and go to school

Full_moon_dog: Ok sorry for freaking out your just so fun to talk with. I feel lonely when we aren't talking.

Broken42: Awwww how sweet. My roommate is making dinner. I loooooooove her cookin. *drools*

Full_moon_dog: Should I leave you alone?

Broken42: *Blush* Shut up. So yeah I have an hour until dinner

Full_moon_dog: Sure you do. You just don't want to talk to me *crys*

Broken42: You speak English and Japanese why wouldn't I want to talk to you?

Full_moon_dog: Want to play a game?

Broken42: Like what?

Full_moon_dog: 20 questions?

Broken42: Ok how do we play?

Full_moon_dog: We go back and forth asking questions and the other person has to answer honestly

Broken42: Ok you go first.

Full_moon_dog: Ok but rules: no asking things like name, address, or anything like that.

Full_moon_dog: What is your favorite color?

Broken42: Red. What's yours?

Full_moon_dog: Same. Favorite food?

Broken42: Whatever Stephanie is making. Cat or Dog?

Full_moon_dog: Dog. You?

Broken42: Both. Hot or Cold? This is fun ^.^

Full_moon_dog: Warm. Are you ever coming back you Japan?

Broken42: Yes, in a year and two months actually. How tall are you?

Full_moon_dog: 6'3” I have to go soon or I'm gonna be late. I have work at noon. :P

Broken42: It's only 6:30.

Full_moon_dog: There. I'm in Japan remember?

Broken42: Oh yeah that's right. So it's 10:30 a.m. there?

Full_moon_dog: I'll talk to you later.

Broken42: Ok bye.

Full_moon_dog: Bye.

*Full_moon_dog: has signed out*

“ 'night Alex”

I stretch and put the laptop away. From the kitchen I hear a scream. I run out of my room to see Stephanie on a chair screaming pointing at the ground. I look and see a spider. I can't help it I bust up laughing.

 

“Hey Stephanie, is dinner done?”

 

“Fuck you” she said while wiping away tears. “For that you have dishes tonight.”

 

“Ok”
