Chapter 14: What the hell is going on here?

"I'm telling you that something is not right here!" Inuyasha yelled at Sango.

"And I'm telling you for the hundredth time that if you don't shut your big mouth, Kagome is going to hear you!" Sango hissed.

"I don't care if she does hear me!" he yelled. After looking at the death glare Sango was giving him, he quickly changed his mind though. "You can't tell me that you haven't noticed that something weird is going on around here!"

"Of course I've noticed! Why do you think I don't want Kagome to hear you? You and I both know that something weird is happening with that girl, and I don't want her to know that we are on to her!"

"Well, what exactly do you think is going on?"

"I don't really know.....There is one thing for sure though, Kagome does not want us to know about what is really going on."

Inuyasha sighed and sat down next to Sango on her bed. They were currently in her room trying to figure out what the heck was going on. Things had been anything but normal ever since they had gotten here the day before, and they were both getting rather sick of it.

"So lets review what we do know," Sango said softly. "Kagome does not only not know how to get to her own house, but she has no idea how to get around it either. I mean I know this place is huge, but still! You told me she didn't even know about that room in her own home? But that's crazy because there is no way she could use that elevator everyday without seeing that button."

"Yeah and you told me she had to use a map to get here?! That's insane! Anyone could remember where they live after driving there for 3 weeks, even Kagome!"

They both jumped out of their skins when someone knocked on the door. Sango glared at Inuyasha while getting up as if to say, "If that's her and she heard you, I'm going to hurt you.

Sango opened the door to discover that it was not Kagome, but Miroku.

"Good day Sango my love. I just wanted to come by to........"

Miroku cut off when he walked past Sango and saw who was sitting on her bed. Many different emotions ran across his face, the greatest of being confusion.

"And you're always telling me not to come in your room..." Miroku said suggestively.

"PERVERT!!!" Sango yelled, apparently forgetting about her own insistence of keeping quiet. "Inuyasha is here because we are both dying to figure out what the cause of all Kagomes weird behavior is."

"That's actually why I came to your room my dear," Miroku said smiling.

Inuyasha and Sango both looked at him skeptically, not really believing a word.

"Right....." Sango said sitting down next to Inuyasha again.

"Sango, your lack of faith in me just hurts!" he replied.

"If you came down here to talk about Kagome with me, then lets talk."

"Right'O. Well, I personally think that our dear lady Kagome has been lying to us about something."

"Feh, wow you are smart lech. We kind of had that one figured out already. If you aren't going to helpful even a little, I would suggest you just leave now."

"Of course I know more then that, I was just putting out the information the summed up in general all of Kagomes actions," Miroku said sitting down next to Sango. She jumped up off the bed like she had been shocked and began to pace in front of the two boys.

"What could possibly be going on?" Sango mussed. "Could she really just be extremely slow at figuring out her new house?"

"Ah see that was my thought at first too," Miroku said trying to sound all knowing. "Earlier today though, I heard Kagome talking with one of the maids. I heard Kagome ask her if she knew where a certain Mr. Griffith was. At the time I thought nothing of it, and assumed it was probably a guy her mom was dating or something. But then I started thinking about it.....Why would he be anywhere near there home when Kagomes mom was gone on a business trip and surly he would know this. I thought about it some more and then the name Griffith really struck me somewhere, but I couldn't place it. Does it sound familiar to either of you?"

"I have to admit, I know that I have heard that name before as well. It is so well-known to me that it's almost weird," said Sango.

"Of course it's well known to you," Miroku said looking smug. "Once I recognized it, I lost no time in heading straight to the library to look it up. It took no time at all. All I had to do was type it into the computer, and I got many matches. The first on the list being Griffith Interprize."

At this Sango gasped out loud and looked at Miroku in shock and he nodded before continuing.

"Yeah that was pretty much my reaction too. Griffith Interprize is one of, if not the most famous company in all of Japan. Guess what came up on the search in second? The Griffith mansion, which is located in Tokyo. I beat you'll never guess what type of water fountain Mr. Griffith went for..." he finished smirking.

"Miroku you are brilliant!" Sango yelled jumping on him in a sort of hug.

The moment did not last long, because Miroku quickly put his arms around Sangos waist....and they didn't stay there....

"HENTAI!" Sango screamed. She quickly jumped up off of him and wasted no time in punching him in the head.

"Wow, I can't believe that pervert actually figured this all out," Inuyasha said.

"Yeah you and me both," Sango replied. "Come on lets go talk to Kagome and find out what is going and why we're here."

"Lets just leave Miroku," Inuyasha suggested. "He doesn't deserve the credit for figuring everything out after what he just did, and quite frankly I don't want to wait for him to wake up."

(A/N: I should just end it right here! But, since I'm not feeling particularly evil, I'll go on :D)

Kagome jumped when she heard a knock at her door. She had been laying on her bed thinking about that scary room again. For some annoying reason she couldn't get it out of her head. She was grateful to have a reason to not think about it now. Kagome got up and went to the door to find Sango looking a little confused, and Inuyasha looking peeved.

"What's up guys?" she asked innocently. "I heard a lot of noise coming from your room Sango, is everything ok?"

"Don't you just "what's up" us Kagome, you have a hell of a lot explaining to do," Inuyasha said rudely pushing past her into the room. Sango followed and they both turned to face Kagome who hadn't shut the door yet. It seemed she was trying to decided if she wanted to run right then and there, but she slowly shut the door.

"What do you guys want me to explain?" Kagome asked trying to keep all emotion from her voice.

"Don't give us the bull shit!" Inuyasha yelled. "We know this isn't your house and we want some answers right now god damn it!"

"Inuyasha!" Sango scolded. "I'm sure that there is a logically explanation for all of this, right Kagome?"

* What do I do now? They know that this isn't really my home, and what's more they want me to explain everything! What am I supposed to do? I could try lying, but I think I have proved to everyone and myself that I am no good at that. Damn it all! I'm going to have to tell them the truth! *

"I.....well the truth is....."

Kagome sighed and sat down on her bed with her head hung. Sango looked concerned, and Inuyasha looked curious.

"As you guys already know, this isn't really my home.....In fact this is the first time I have been here as well."

For a moment Inuyasha looked as if he was about to say something, but a sharp smack from Sango kept him quiet.

"After I saw Inuyashas house, I knew that he had spent all of his life living in luxury, and it didn't take a genius to figure out by Sangos house and Mirokus firebird that they had too. I don't know you guys that well yet, and wasn't sure if you were shallow or not. Judging by what I knew about Inuyasha so far, I kind of just assumed that you all were. I couldn't..........ah this is so stupid.....I couldn't stand letting you guys know that my family is poor alright?!?!" Kagome finished in on breath. She was still looking at the floor, refusing to meet the gaze of either of them as it bore in her skull.

"Kagome?" Sango said gently sitting next to her. "Sweetie, you don't have to worry about impressing us. I can tell you that I am not shallow....well, at least not with people that I love," she admitted smiling. " We all know Miroku couldn't care less. The fact that your are beautiful is good enough for him. And Inuyasha....well lets let him speak for himself."

Inuyasha hadn't made a sound since Kagome finished her confession. He was looking at his hands, deep in thought.

^ She didn't want me to know she wasn't rich? Does she really think I am that shallow that I would care? Well, come on be honest. If you had found this out last week, you would have rubbed it in and you know it. Sadly that was true, but I would never do that know. I didn't really like Kagome, but I didn't hate her either. I had somewhat of a heart after all, and I could never be that mean, not really anyway....^

"Inuyasha?" Kagome said very softly retrieving him from his thoughts.

" I don't care if you rick or not Kagome," he said looking up. "God, did you really think I was that shallow?"

That was good enough for Kagome, because she knew for Inuyasha that was almost nice. She quickly gave both of them a hug, much to the surprise of Inuyasha, and then faced them with a small smile.

"I should have known that you guys weren't jerks like that.....thanks for understanding." she said almost is a whisper.

"Well, do you want to explain how you pulled all this off?" Sango said smiling. "How do you know the richest man in all of Japan, and better yet, why is he letting you and 3 other teenagers stay at his house?"

" Mr. Griffith has been after my mom for years," Kagome said with a smirk. "She just called him up and asked for a favor. He would have probably given her this house if he had asked for it. That man is head over heels."

"Wow....."said Sango. "You know, that explains so much."

"Hey now you guys get to answer something for me. Who figured all of this out? I had a feeling you knew something was up, but how did you actually get most of the details?" Kagome asked.

"Miroku," Inuyasha said simply.

"Aw," Kagome said nodded. "So the pervert cracked it....speaking of which, where is Miroku?"

Sango and Inuyasha looked at each other smiling and the both shrugged.
