After Inuyasha knocked out the kitsune and was forced to “sit” by Kagome, he stood and tried to address the situation his big mouth had drug him into. “Are…are you sure that's the only way to break your curse?” “The only one I know of. I'm sorry if this puts you into a difficult position, Inu-kun, but you're the only hanyou I can turn to.” “Aren't there any other hanyous out there?” Shippo inquired, his quizitive mind at work. “If there are, I sure haven't found them. Most demons have gone back to the old ways and mated solely with other demons. The only demons that mate with humans are hanyous. Naturally, this makes it very hard to find a hanyou anywhere.” “I guess Naraku and Inuyasha were the only hanyous still around,” Sango stated. Isha nodded. “Pretty much. And I never would have mated with Naraku.” “Whatever happened to that old boyfriend of yours? Wasn't he a hanyou?” Inuyasha asked, hoping to save himself from having to choose between women once again. “I suppose you're referring to Maro. Unfortunately, he died 50 years ago while on his way, t…to kill you.”

Inuyasha stared dumbstruck at Isha. “Why'd he wanna kill me? What the hell did I do?” Isha gulped and faced her old flame. “Well, he, uh, he wanted to…mate with me. When I told him I didn't feel ready, he asked why? I lied and said I had a boyfriend already who would kill whomever messed with his woman. He put two and two together and decided I meant you. After that, he set out to kill you. I followed him in hopes to keep him from succeeding in his quest. And, after Naraku injured Kikyo and caused you to be bound to a tree, he killed Maro for standing in his way. If hadn't hidden, he probably would have slain me as well.” When Isha finished, she looked up to the sky and said a silent prayer for Maro. Inuyasha rubbed the back of his head and said, “Would we… I mean... how long would we hafta…” “Just once, Inu-kun. Just one night and my curse would be broken. If you already have a mate, I guess I could just live with the curse…” Inuyasha glanced at the miko behind him. “I sorta do. I mean, I didn't really tell her yet, but, uh,” Isha looked at Kagome, who was now blushing, and walked over to her. “Kagome?” “Yes?” “Would you allow your mate, Inuyasha, to have one night with me so I may end my curse?” Kagome, blushing even more now, replied, “Sure. I mean it's not like he asked me too be his mate yet or anything. Besides, you need to break your curse and I guess that's the only way, so,” As Kagome continued to ramble, Inuyasha walked over to Miroku. “Miroku?” “Yes, Inuyasha?” “Are you sure that you can't lift her curse? I know you're not a hanyou, but isn't there something you could do?” Miroku clasped his hands together and said, “I can certainly try my best. If you and the others would leave us alone for the night, and perhaps stay a few feet away so you won't have to hear us….” Inuyasha smacked the back of his head. “Not like that, Miroku. I meant, couldn't you use some monk- type ritual or something?” Miroku sighed. “I suppose I could try it your way. Though my way seems like more fun.”
