Chapter 3: The bet
Disclaimer and all the good stuff is on chapter 1. If you feel the need to read it again flip back to chapter 1.

When we last met with out hero's they were just enjoying each other's company. Especially Miro and Sango. Inu finally meets Kag and everyone is still oblivious as to what life has in store for them… oh ain't life grand. It's getting longer each time I go thru it.

“Oh Sango, what have you gotten us into? He's so… what can I say?” Kagome was out of words. She looked a bit frightened.

“I thought you would like him. He really is a very kind man just a bit of a pervert. And he's only being a perve because it's his birthday.” Sango said very quickly knowing it was a bit of a fish story.

“It's his birthday? Maybe we should stop and get him something.” Kagome's mouth was moving faster than her brain. The stranger at the front door was really affecting her. “Wow. He was big and a little intimidating, but he was so hot. And he definitely had that aurora around him that…”

“I don't think he is that big. We are about the same size. And I hardly believe he's intimidating. You are just overly sensitive to men.”

“Same size? He's huge compared to you. I mean look at those shoulders. I mean… and did you see his eyes and hair, what a strange… and when he almost touched me, I…” Kagome wasn't able to finish a thought before the next erupted.

“Hold up! Are we talking about the same man?” Suddenly a light bulb came on. Sango was grinned like a cat with cream at Kagome. Her friend was definitely affected by Miro's friend. She was going to have to play match maker and see where things lead. She knew him by sight, but had not been introduced. He was the brother of an owner. She would have to see what his story really was.

“Oh, shut up! You know what I meant.” Kagome swiped at Sango.

“Someone has a crush on a stranger! Oooowwwwwww! Well we will have to question Miro about him tomorrow. After the party I expect he will be really excited so I would be best to wait until he's sane again.”
“No!”
“What?” There was a pause. “Why?”
“I can't afford to make connections to anyone. You know what will happen soon, and I don't have a choice what will happen to me, so it's better if I don't…”

Kagome didn't have to finish her thought. But she didn't know what Sango knew, Kagome was in deeper than she thought. “Hey, did you pick up a couple toys?” She smiled at the thought of her whip or flogger or even her long paddle as a toy. (Sorry but this is as close as I can get with the harikotsui SP? Try spell checking that one! For you Sango in “exterminator mode” fans. And I know it isn't even close to the regal weapon she carries.)

Sango wanted to be sure she walked in with something in her hand, even if she knew she wouldn't be using it. Most of the time men assumed just because she was a woman and walked in alone, she was out prowling for a man. And now she had Kagome to look after and Miro. She knew he was not in any danger, but had to add him because it was part of her responsibility. She wanted to make a point that she was not looking for a man and that there was more to her than just a pretty face. (Dommes are sometimes taken as a joke, but most are better trainers then Doms in my experience. If you are confused about these statements let me know in review and I will explain.)

“Yes, of course. I know you need to bring your own toys to a party like this.” Kagome shrugged off the question in annoyance.

Kagome sure was learning quickly about a lifestyle she hadn't chosen for herself. How Sango wished she could keep her friend for herself and introduce her to the lifestyle more gently. Sango knew the plight of Kagome's upcoming life all to well.

Kagome went silent as she started the car. The mystery man on the porch was something she would never forget. Electricity had snapped from him at her as she walked past. Her body quivered and she knew without thinking about it she was sexually excited just from walking past him. The little pop of energy made her heart quicken and her panties wet. It didn't really matter though.

`I wonder if this is what mother meant?' Her miko powers were definitely awake. It hadn't happened in a long time, that tingling feeling that started in her chest and moved around her body. But normally it went to her limbs. This time it went to the deep core of her being. She was horrified that it was doing these things to her.

Last time she felt this tingling it was because she was in danger. Was she in danger and didn't know about it? And if so, was she excited that she was in danger? `What a disgusting thought. I'm a horrible person to think such things.'

She had been born a miko and she had known about her powers from a young age. Even now she didn't totally understand them or how to control them, but she knew she was supposed to be a pure person. `It's gonna be hard to do that now!'

As she had grown older her mother had started training her. She told Kagome that staying pure would keep her mind and body in check. If any part of her mind even thought she was in danger her mind would alter and her body would respond. It could be a dangerous situation.

She was lucky that in all her young life her only dangers had been a few scary movies that haunted her in the dark after seeing them. But when her mother explained how her miko warning would fade because her power would grow with her ability to control it better, she started doubting that her mother was telling her the whole story. Then her mother has said the next time she would notice her powers again would be when she was near her life partner and this power would never fade after that. It would become the polar opposite. Around her life partner her body would respond and her mind would adjust to balance her miko powers.

Was this person her life partner? If it was, it was too much to comprehend. To meet this person before she was going to be sold, life was unfair.

She had a life debt to a man that would never let her go. She was going to be used as a pawn in some game to fleece some poor man out of his inheritance. And she would never be able to be with the man fate had intended her to be with. Fate was playing a cruel joke.

“So I am guessing you aren't ready yet!” It was very obvious that Miro standing there with just a pair of jeans on, no shirt and no boxers that Inu could tell. It wasn't that he was looking; it just wasn't hard to miss.

Miro didn't have his pants buttoned or zipped. They were barely hanging on to his hips, and Inu turned away in case they came down. It would be like Miro to pull them down in a full moon and slap his cheeks.

Miro walked away dragging the hems of both his jean legs on the wood floor. “Oh it won't take me long.” Miro left the room and Inu heard the thump thump of Miro opening and closing his closet doors. He had just settled on the chair when Miro came out strutting like a peacock and dressed like… well Inu had to laugh.

He had on a dark purple silk shirt and black leather pants. He also had on a black cape with a dark purple lining and silver chain holding it in place around his neck. To add to the oddity that was his friends clothing, he also had on black boots with silver chains and he carried a cane with a crystal top and a purple ribbon tied just to the bottom of the crystal knob. He was also wearing a pirate patch over one eye and a monocle over the other.

Inu fell out of his chair and onto the floor howling with laughter. It was all too much. He couldn't contain the laughter. Tears rolled down his face and he laughed until his sides hurt. It was infectious. When he looked at Miro, Inu laughed harder. And it had been so long since Miro had seen Inu laugh that he laughed.

Finally, Inu took control of himself. “This was just unbecoming of me.' He cringed after saying that. “I sound like my brother.' Still laughing Miro took off the pirate patch and monocle and tossed them on the sofa.
“So what are you really going to wear?” Miro stood up and with a sweeping gesture of his cape bowed to Inu.

“No way! No F*&kin' way are you going to do that! Talk about not picking up chicks! Please tell me you are joking!” Inu looked at Miro.
“Well, I wasn't going to wear the monocle or the eye patch.”

“What the hell are you playing at? Are we going to a fancy dress party?” Before Miroku could answer. “Never mind, I'm in. I'm gonna enjoy this more than I thought… Hey! I bet you, you won't wear that all night. And if you do it will be worth loosing the bet.”
“Oh and what do you plan on loosing?”
“You have to introduce me to the girls you had here earlier if I win. What do you plan on loosing?”

“If I win I want you to ask out a girl. One of my choosing. Do you agree?”

Inu stared at Miro. Asking out a girl? Inu didn't know about that. Maybe the girl wouldn't except. After all he didn't have to ask nicely. He could just ask and walk away. `He won't make it thru the night.'
“K” Inu grinned knowing he was going to win.

What Inu didn't know was that Miro had an ace up his sleeve. They were vying for the same thing. He smiled thinking of his lovely Sango. He would enjoy his birthday, lose a bet on purpose, and Inu was in for one hell of a ride. It was all that he could ever ask for on his birthday. He just hoped Yash would be up to it.
