It's a dog's life
By Inu_Dragon
I do not nor have I ever owned Inuyasha…I Really Really want to…..but I don't.
This is my first non song fic. So please be honest and tell me what you think I can take it I am a big girl
Kagome burst through the back door of the shrine, running past her family and straight in to her bed room. “Why, why can't he tell how much I love him….” She mumbled in to the pillow. Naomi (I have deemed this her mother's name) leaned against her door frame unsure of what to say to comfort her distressed daughter. She knew that if she brought up a certain puppy eared boy she would only be greeted with more tears, so she decided a change of topic was in order. “Honey, that nice boy Hojo called. Their having a wish festival (ok so maybe not a real festival but it works for the story) at another shrine and he wanted you to go with him. What do you say?” she tried to sound cheerful. Kagome raised her head from her pillow and wiped away her tears as she sat up to face her mom. “I …..Sniff…..guess…..sniff…..so”. “oh, good,” Naomi softly smiled “well then lets go get you something to wear, something new and pretty my treat. Now go get washed up I will see you downstairs.” And with that she turned and left Kagome, who dragged her self into her bathroom. Meanwhile down the well…….
“INUYASHA, HOW COULD YOU!!” screamed a little orange haired fox boy who was currently chewing on a very irritated inuhanyou. “yes, Inuyasha that was really uncalled for the way you yelled at poor Kagome-chan.” Chimed in the monk Miroku, as Sango merely glared from her spot infront of Keade's hut. “Feh, what was uncalled for was the fact that she sat me for trying to protect her from that flea bitten wolf.” He growled, popping the kit on the head and heading up into the braches of the sacred tree. Seemingly settling down for a nap, “She can come back when she is ready to admit that she was wrong and I was right.”
Kagome smile lit up the room as she came down stairs in soft cotton summer dress, silver flip flops on her feet. Hojo, opened the door for her and followed out of the house, though not before promising to have her home by 10 pm. Only Naomi noticed that the light of her smile never quite reached her eyes, but she was trying.
When they reached the celebration, Hojo took Kagome from one both to the other winning her small prizes, and buying her little sugary treats. After about 2 hours of wondering they came back to the front of the carnival and were getting ready to leave when an elderly woman grabbed Kagome by the arm. “Such sad eyes, in all my life I have only seen such eyes once before. Take this,” she shoves a small package in to her hand. “Make a wish that will bring the light back to your eyes. They are to dull for one as pure as you, young miko.” And with that she was gone, she just vanished leaving the poor startled girl clutching the small box. Hojo realizing that Kagome was no longer following him came back, nodding her head she heads back to the shrine, nearly avoiding a the good night kiss he landed on her cheek.
Everyone in the shrine was already asleep, so she climbed the stairs and placed her goodies on the desk in her room and changed for bed. Yawning she climbed under the covers only to notice the box the old woman had given her sitting on the pillow next to her head. “how did you get over here,” she whispered as she picked it up and slowly lifted the lid. A small piece of paper and a solid black stone sat in the comfort of crushed red velvet. Tenderly she ran her finger over the smooth, and surprisingly warm stone and then picked up the paper. Which was written upon with the smallest of handwriting was a small poem……..
For the truest of heart,
Only a wish shall do
To understand the wants and needs
To those closest to you.
Picking up the stone she clutched it to her heart, tightly closing her eyes she whispers to the dark. “Please, let me understand Inuyasha.” The stone flared with a powerful heat warming the miko's hands and then vanished and she fell asleep. The paper slowly floating to the floor.
