InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ It Wasn't Supposed To Be Like This ❯ The Light Of The Moon ( Chapter 4 )
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
I’m sad, well, after chapter 1, I got many reviews, but after I post chapter 2, I get close to none. Look, you guys please tell me if you want me to continue or not, I don’t want to waste my time writing a ff that no one is planning to read. I hate to sound this way, but if no one likes it, why write it?
Well, I think the few review responses will be put at the end of the chapter, heh heh.
But before anything, I need to thank sweet raptured light allowing me to use her character, Mayuko.
The other OC I have planned to use in this story, the character of Golden-eyed-Girl, will also appear in this chapter!
Disclaimer: I do not own the IY cast, simple as that. Nor do I own the characters Mayuko or Makoto. They belong to sweet raptured light and Golden-Eyed-Girl.
Chapter 3: The Light Of The Moon.
He flew through the midnight sky, his silver mane dancing behind him as he glided to where he was to meet her. Ever since the day they’d met, he’d felt himself attracted to her ethereal beauty and immense powers. They’d met on a few occasions prior to this and he couldn’t help but yearn for her delightful company, even though he never showed that to anyone, not even herself.
She was originally created by Naraku, but amazingly, he hadn’t held her heart as he did Kagura’s. She never liked the sadistic bastard’s reasons for creating her and had easily freed herself from his grasp. It was a completely unexpected move on her part, but she’d done it without a single trace of her current location. Other then that, she didn’t have much history.
Makoto was very evil, yes distant as well, but she held good in her heart as well. Unlike Sesshomaru, she had feelings, just never cared to show them in public, or at all much for that matter. Whereas Sesshomaru, you’d never know he held any emotion at all besides rage, and that was only when he got angry.
She was a dark, inu youkai/miko, and an extremely beautiful one at that. Her silver tresses were streaked crimson as her tail, despite the fact that it had a black/blue tip on it. Besides that, it was the same though. It was extremely fluffy, just like Sesshomaru’s, and on more then one occasion he’d found himself to run his fingers through the silky fur. But he never did, it was simply not in his character to do so.
Her ever mesmerizing silver eyes held specks of black and blue, and shone clearly on her face. Her golden flames, outlined by silver pointed toward her mouth from their place on her cheeks. In the middle of her for head, pointing to her hairline, were three additional flames. One blue, one gold, and one, silver. She truly was, one of the most beautiful demonesses he’d seen in his lifetime, and he wasn’t planning on letting her get away.
Yes, Sesshomaru liked the girl, and a lot more then he should. He hadn’t seen her in well over a week, but that didn’t keep her from haunting him in his dreams. He’d constantly awoke in a fine sheen of sweat, closing his eyes as the images ran through his head. He’d roll his eyes every time he was hit with the same dream, Makoto withering beneath him, it was all too good to be true, which is exactly why it was a dream…..to good to be true.
He sighed as he reached the clearing, awaiting her arrival. His senses became alert instantly and he scanned the area for any youkai. Sure enough, the young demoness emerged on the other side of the clearing, head cast down as she casually approached the taiyoukai.
“Makoto.” He started, not entirely sure of what to say to her. The only reason they met up as they did was because there’d been a recent threat to his lands and she’d kept him updated of anything he needed to be aware of. There hadn’t been anything wrong for over a week, which is why he hadn’t seen her in so long. Well, if you thought about it, a week wasn’t long at all, but it wasn’t all too short either.
“What news do you bear today?” he asked with an emotionless tone, staring into her eyes as she raised her head. Time seemed to stand still as their gazes locked, he couldn’t find it in him to look away, but Makoto did, and returned her gaze to the ground.
“Naraku has sent a spy. I cannot say where to or what for, because I simply did not get the chance to discover that information. But I can tell you who.” Sesshomaru nodded for her to continue.
“Her name is Mayuko. She’d been with Naraku since she was but a child. He’d mercilessly slaughtered her family, friends, and her whole village. But when it came to her, he couldn’t bring himself to cause her harm. But her aura was powerful, and despite being young, he would be able to train her to use those powers to his advantage and took her with him. That is what he says, although I do not find that to be fully true, some of it is.”
“Mayuko is very powerful. She is a three part youkai, one being neko, one wolf, and one rabbit. I believe she inherited the wolf from her father and the other two form her mother. When she id endangered, she is able to draw miko abilities from some power within her, although I am not sure how or why, I believe it has something to do with a birthmark on her chest.” She finished.
Sesshomaru stared at her approvingly, glad he could find so much information on the young girl, but still, what was Naraku scheming? “What are her abilities? How powerfully is she?” he questioned the demoness.
“Well, she uses katals, and has perfected archery, although she prefers not to use it. She is a very skilled combatant and has spent her entire life since the age of four perfecting her fighting skills. She does a lot of magic, light and dark but her main focus is dark. Like I said, she is powerful, when I was with Naraku we would spar, and it was rare that we would beat one another, we usually ended up in a tie, but we each had our good and bad days.” Sesshomaru was amazed, she was as powerful as Makoto? That was truly horrible of she was on Naraku’s side. He had suffered Makoto’s wrath once and never wanted to be on the receiving end of her punishments again.
“Does she know that Naraku is the one who demolished her village?” he asked. Sesshomaru smirked when she shook her head, maybe it wouldn’t be that hard to convert her. It may take time, and he still didn’t know of the young girl’s intentions, but he could convert her if he truly needed, after, he was skilled when it came to things like that.
“Thank you Makoto,” his velvety voice rang through her ears, causing an involuntary shiver to run down her spine. He smirked when he saw this, and turned away, but not before adding, “You will accompany me to my domain, Rin wishes to spend time with you.” He waited and prayed that she would come, he would never tell her that it was he who wished her presence, and Rin DID want to see her, so this would have to do for now.
He let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding when she complied. She wouldn’t tell him, but she’d been wanting to see him for some time as well, and the little girl was the perfect way. But she wasn’t vain, she knew what he was doing, after all, she could read his mind. Although she hadn’t passed him that little tidbit of information yet, he’d be infuriated if she did, knowing all those thoughts………she shuddered. Some of those thoughts were not meant for her to hear.
The two walked off together, side by side under the light of the moonlight, their hair flowing behind them as their graceful strides led them to the western citadel.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kagome woke up the next morning as a loud slap reverberated through her ear.
She looked beside her and sure enough, Sango was right there, so that could only mean one thing. “Miroku do you have to sexually assault our guest so soon?” The said girl was staring coolly down at the monk who lie on the forest floor, unconscious.
“Sorry about that, he, well, that’s normal behavior for him.” Mayuko nodded at her before stretching her muscles, and covering her mouth with her hand as she yawned. Kagome fished through her bag for a pot and walked to a nearby river, collecting some water and heading back to camp. She put it over the fire and let it sit before walking around and folding the blankets.
Kagome stuffed them into her blue bag, which she had brought since she couldn’t very well fit everything into her yellow one, and closed it. Miroku usually carried it, saying Kagome’s scent, though he didn’t have that good of a nose, brought his senses to life. She shivered as she remembered the look on Inuyasha’s face, then laughed at the monk’s womanizing nature.
When the water came to a boil, she opened the packets of ramen and removed the seasoning before pouring the contests into the bubbling water. The demoness watched in interest.
“What is that?” she asked. Kagome looked confused for a moment before her eyes settled on the ramen. She smacked her for head, whispering the word ‘duh’ before turning back to Mayuko to give her an explanation.
“It’s a type of food.” She said. “It’s ramen and well, I doubt it’ll be found anywhere other then my home.” The girl seemed to accept her answer, that is until she asked the inevitable.
“Where is your home, Kagome-san?” Kagome’s face paled as she scratched her head. How the hell could she pull off telling her about her home, without actually telling her about it. Does that even make sense? Kagome sighed, she’d have to say something or the girl would become suspicious of her.
“Well, my home is pretty far away, and there’s only one way to get there as far as I know. The well is in Inuyasha’s forest, it’ not too far.” Kagome took in what she just said, then threw her hand over her mouth. Hopefully the girl was dumb.
“But what does a well have to do with getting you home? Or do you live in the well?”
Kagome sweat-dropped. Okay, so she wasn’t so dumb after all. Kagome sighed her relief when Miroku stirred conscious, now she could change the subject! She ran over to the houshi’s side, giving him a stern look and shaking her head.
“You really should learn to keep your hands to yourself. If you do, you may live the rest of your life.” Miroku gave off his lecherous smirk before turning and winking at the beautiful youkai who had been watching him with suspicion. She felt a burning sensation rise to her cheeks before she turned away.
“I’m going to take a walk, I’ll be back soon.” Mayuko said. Kagome looked at her for a second, then shrugged her shoulders as she watched the girl’s retreating form disappear into the dense forest.
Once out of sight, she ran a good mile before she stopped in a secluded part of the forest, sniffle the air, she caught no scents of her supposed ‘comrades’ and looked straight forward.
“I know you’re watching, Naraku-sama. You always do.” She said into the nothingness, and sniffed the air around her again. Nothing. She sighed, continuing with her ‘speech’.
“Where is that girl from? Kagome, I think that was her name. I could smell her nervousness, and she was lying, that much was obvious. There’s something unique, different about her, and I’m going to figure out what. I’ll speak to you like this, every night when the moon hits the horizon. But I must go before the others get suspicious.” She finished, knowing that her master had heard every word she’d uttered from her lips.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Naraku smirked into the mirror, she truly was a smart girl. Snd she was doing a great job so far, she hadn’t slipped up once, not that he was expecting her to or anything, but it was still a thought.
“Kagura,” Naraku called, watching with disdain as his incarnation camr inot the room, a scowl plastered on her face. She walked in front of him, bowing her head for a split second before rising it again to look into his crimson orbs.
“Yes Naraku?” she all but snarled at him. He chuckled, feeling comfort in how utterly hopeless she was.
“Meet with Kikyo, tell her that I wish for her to lure away Inuyasha, tonight. Give Mayuko instructions to lead Kagome away from the others and then to leave casually, to be right back. That is when you will attack the lone miko, and Mayuko will watch from a distance, returning in the end to ‘save’ Kagome. That will earn Kagome’s trust. I wish to see that girl’s full potential.”
Naraku’s heated gaze dared her to defy him, to look him in the face and tell him no. Although Kagura did not wish to face Kagome’s full power, she did not want to face the extent of her master’s wrath. Nodding numbly, she walked out of the room and away from the castle. Pulling a feather from her hair, she transformed it and leaped onto her feather boat in search of the dead miko.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mayuko walked back to camp, but no one noticed her return, obviously there was a slight disagreement after she left. She inwardly smirked as she saw the hanyou about a foot in the ground and the unconscious monk supporting 2 lumps on his swollen head, though on the outside, she gasped, feigning worry.
“What happened?” her eyes widened a fraction as she tried her best to look sincere. Kagome and Sango sat at the base of a tree, with weird ear covers. She heard music coming from the two human girls, but chose to ignore it.
“Miroku and his lecherous ways got the best of him, and Inuyasha wasn’t exactly happy about it and let his possessiveness take over.” Mayuko smiled down at the young kitsune pup, a small fire neko stood behind him, following him wherever he walked.
The neko walked around Shippo and came up to Mayuko, sniffing her before rubbing her head against her leg affectionately. Mayuko smirked and patted the small youkai’s head softly before walking over to where the two girls sat.
‘Kami, these two girls are so senseless, any youkai could easily sneak up to them and slit there throats before they got the chance to look into the eyes of their killer.’
“hey you guys?” she called waving a hand in front of their faces. She reached out to touch them, but her hand was suddenly pushed away as a wave of energy ran through her. She cradeled her hand to her chest, watching in fascination as the outline of a barrier came into view.
“It’s hopeless, once they relax and Kagome puts up her barrier, they’re too far gone to try and reach.” She spun around to see the two men dusting themselves off, one of the massaging his head to help ease the pain the lumps that still had not gone away.
“What is it she’s wearing?” she asked, pointing to the thing around their ears. Inuyasha hmph’d before responding. “Something from her time.” He said, jumping into the tree and relaxing on the branch.
‘Her time? Is she not from this era?’ Her eyes widened slightly, perhaps that’s why she was so much different form the other humans. Even her scent was more pleasing then most humans’ were. She didn’t dress remotely close to anyone she’s seen either. The girl could use some modesty as far as she was concerned.
Mayuko shook her head, it was none of her business if Kagome wanted to look like a whore, by all means, she could care less. Sighing, she walked over to where there was one last bowl and enough ‘ramen’ left for one helping and scooped it, taking the last pair of chopsticks as well. Sitting down at the base of another tree, she sighed and brought the foreign food to her lips.
‘If I get sick eating this, that girl won’t live to see the next day.’ She thought to herself before chuckling at the thought of Kagome’s shocked expression as her head rolls off her shoulders and into a pile of her blood--. She took the food into her mouth, and all thoughts of Kagome’s death vanished.
“This is good.” She said aloud, taking another bite into her mouth. Miroku turned to look at her, his eyes bulging as his lips became pouted.
“That was mine.” He said, watching as she smirked and took another bite into her mouth. “Mmmmmm,” she moaned, watching Miroku’s face become sad. “This is the best meal I’ve had in my entire life.” She said, watching the monk’s shoulders slump as he sank to the ground.
He scooted over to her, and made a serious expression on his newly composed features.
“A monk cannot fulfill his duties on an empty stomach, so I would appreciate you sharing your meal with me.” He said with the straightest face he could muster. The girl raised an eyebrow, obviously not about to give up the delicious noodles. Miroku sighed, obviously he would starve today.
Mayuko suddenly looked at him, about to say something until her eyes met his. Silver clashed with blue as they stared into the depths of each other. Mayuko realized what she was doing and quickly averted her gaze, frowning as she remembered his piercing stare.
Miroku smirked, yet another beautiful girl to hit on, his life was perfect, well almost. It seemed she didn’t like him much. He sighed and watched her finish her food, not messily like Sango and Kagome when they were laughing and eating, but neatly, not once spilling the broth that stained one of Kagome’s old uniforms due to a food fight. He chuckled at the memory, this girl was way more mature then that, but what’s more, there’s something she’s hiding, something she’s not being completely honest about, and he WOULD be the one to figure out just what that one thing was.
Inuyasha jumped beside him, startling the monk out of his thoughts that had quickly become impure. The hanyou grunted at the girl who was finishing up her light breakfast. Then, turned to look at the two human girls who were now singing to the lyrics of the music they were listening to.
“We need to leave, we’ve already rested for too long.” Inuyasha tried to call out to Kagome and Sango, then tried to force himself through the barrier, only to get thrown back into another tree. He growled, he hated this and lately Kagome’s been doing this more and more, he’d have to have a chat about this with her.
“Miroku.” The houshi turned his head towards inuyasha, “Go inside her barrier thing and tell them to get out!” the monk chuckled, he was the only one that could get past the girls’ ‘protection’. Ever since Inuyasha had banned them from listening to their damn music, Kagome would put a shield around them so they could anyways and Inuyasha had no way of stopping them.
“Kagome-sama, Sango-sama, it is time we get back to our journey, it’s already getting late in the day.” Kagome cracked open an eye and took off her headphones, motioning for Sango to do the same. Kagome laughed when she saw Inuyasha standing there with a disgruntled look on his face. She smiled innocently at him and stood up, releasing her barrier.
“Don’t do that again!” Inuyasha all but growled out. Kagome rolled her eyes and nodded before following after the gruff hanyou.
Mayuko sighed, she hated being blunt, but there was simply no other way to figure out the girl’s secret. “Kagome-san, do you come from another period of time?” She smirked as Kagome froze, her heartbeat speeding up, then replaced her stare with a curious one.
“Yeah, I ummm get transported to my home through the well. I live 500 years into the future, which is why everything is, well different.” Kagome said with a sigh. She still wasn’t sure that she could trust this girl or not, and here she goes telling her the biggest secret she has.
‘O-well, she doesn’t seem like the type that we’d need to look out form afterall, she is against Naraku.’ Kagome thought, praying that she wouldn’t be wrong in her judgment.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her midnight tresses flowed gently in the breeze as she lay in the strew, her soul collectors floating around her. Her eyes were closed and she looked very relaxed in her perch. Her senses were spread around her, alert for any signs of approaching danger.
Suddenly, she sat up, her dull, soulless eyes scanning the area for the demon she sensed. She looked up into the sky, watching as the wind sorceress, Kagura descended before her. She transformed her feather and placed it neatly back in her hair.
“Kikyo, Naraku wishes your assistance.” She said, waiting for the reply of the lifeless miko. “He wishes you to lure Inuyasha away from your reincarnation for reasons that shall remain unknown to you.” Kikyo frowned, what could the worthless hanyou be planning now? Kagura went on, “Tonight, when the sun sets, you must take him far from the group, and keep him with you for a good amount of time as well. And no, you will not be rewarded.” Kikyo scowled at the wind sorceress.
“So he wishes me to do him a favor and accept nothing in return?” Kagura nodded mutely. “Is there a purpose to this?” Kagura nodded again, getting impatient. “Does this have something important to do with Kagome?” Kagura frowned before nodding again.
“So will you do it, or do I have to tell Naraku that you have disobeyed him?” Kagura stood there for a moment before taking her curt nod as a ‘yes’ and flying to where she knew she’d find Mayuko.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They’d been walking for hours. Mayuko wondered how the humans kept the pace, but figured, that with a hanyou for the leader, they’d probably get used to it after a while. Kagome sensed a jewel shard earlier, the only one they’d picked up all day. The demoness was very surprised at the way she handled the youkai, only stopping to yell out that she’d sensed a shard, stringing a bow, and aiming in the direction the shard was sensed.
The arrow became engulfed in a dark blue light, and within seconds a medium sized repta1lion youkai dropped dead a few yards away, disintegrating right before their eyes. She’d quickly run and picked up the dark purple shard, then smiled at how its pure pink glow returned with her simple touch.
Need less to say, Mayuko found that she wasn’t the only one impressed. Obviously, the girl usually pointed out locations and had the others fight the battles for her, which wasn’t all that hard to believe. Mayuko felt the girl’s aura flame with power, but she’d only released a small portion. The demoness had to wonder if the girl knew of her power, and was just hading it, or if she was really that stupid to not feel the energy flowing through her body.
But at the moment, that wasn’t important, a familiar scent wafted through her nose, but it wasn’t strong at all. It was Kagura, but her scent was masked so that only a full blooded youkai could smell her, and a hanyou, like Inuyasha, would have no idea she was even in the perimeter.
“Um, Inuyasha-san, may I have a moment to myself please? I’ll catch up when I’m finished.” Inuyasha waved a hand behind his head, signifying that he was ‘shooing’ her off. She smirked, ‘they are all so naïve.’ She thought before turning and running in the direction she smelt Kagura scent coming from.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She found her less then a mile away, standing in the middle of the forest and awaiting her very arrival. She walked out in front of the wind sorceress, bowing slightly before looking into her ruby eyes.
“What is it Kagura?” Kagura briefly went over the plans that she discussed with Naraku, telling her of Kikyo’s part and that she would lure the miko from the group and leave her to be attacked, saving her at the last minute. Mayuko thought over the plan for a second before nodding and bidding Kagura farewell.
“Mayuko,” Kagure called after her. The demoness looked over her shoulder to see Kagura smiling, the two always were like sisters since Kagura came inot this world.
“Good luck in your first official mission.” And with that, Mayuko left the clearing, headed back to the group of shard collectors.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Narku chuckled, all of his plans were falling neatly into place, all he needed was to was wait. He had a lot to contemplate with the information he’d just received. The miko he’s been after for so long was not even from this world? Well, this era at least. Maybe she would come in handy.
If they could make magical music players, then they surely had things like advanced weaponry, or even magic that would assist him with his evil schemes. But the miko could only get there a special way, he’d seen the kit try to jump through, and it seemed no one besides Inuyasha and heself could pass through the magical vortex. Strange, before he never knew where it led, but now, maybe she could take him there, that way he could test this world first hand. All he needed now, was to kidnap her, and formulate a plan. And who knows, after she proves her powers are worthy, maybe she can turn her onto his side. That would be extremely hard, that is, if he didn’t have ways to torture her friends if she did not willingly cooperate.
‘Yes,’ he thought. ‘Her powers will be mine to control, as well as her advanced knowledge. You will be my slave soon enough, my precious miko.’ Naraku chuckled at his own thoughts, wondering why he just hadn’t thought of this plan earlier.

“Well, she uses katals, and has perfected archery, although she prefers not to use it. She is a very skilled combatant and has spent her entire life since the age of four perfecting her fighting skills. She does a lot of magic, light and dark but her main focus is dark.
