Kagome's eyes reluctantly peeled apart and adjusted to the harsh early morning sunlight. Raising her arms above the blanket, the miko stretched lazily and noted that her thighs were still slick from last night's activities. A smile rose on her lips as Kagome slowly turned to face the man whose arms were protectively, and so lovingly, wrapped around her torso. The miko slipped her arms around Inuyasha's neck and pulled herself closer to her amazing mate. Gentle fingers combed through silver locks and massaged his scalp before tracing the outline of a furry appendage. A growl of satisfaction that sounded suspiciously like a purr exited the pouty lips of the hanyou. Kagome giggled at his reaction, remembering his outraged shout when she confronted him about the cute noises he makes.
“I don't fucking purr you crazy wench! I'm an inu-hanyou!”
His cheeks had been flaming red and he refused to let Kagome go anywhere near his ears for weeks. That had been years ago, before they had even mated. The search for the shikon shards was still looming over their heads and Naraku was very much at large. At the time, it had been a guilty pleasure Kagome indulged in whenever Inuyasha permitted it. Late in the night when all their traveling companions were in a deep slumbering sleep and Kagome was awake, Inuyasha would jump down from his perch from the closest tree. He would quietly gather her in his arms and leap back into his own private sanctuary high in the sky.
It had taken two years to get the stubborn, ignorant, downright baka hanyou to even initiate that small intimate contact. Without words the two young lovers would watch the stars in each other's warm embrace. On a particularly good day, or if Kagome gave him `the eyes', Inuyasha would allow Kagome's wandering hands to tweak his sensitive ears. The hanyou didn't normally allow his intended to touch him so openly for fear that he wouldn't be able to control his body. Worse case scenario…Kagome would feel the physical reaction of her touch. He shuddered at the thought. That would surely push her away. The miko was denied access to his adorable ears for nearly four weeks after the `purring' incident. Alas, after a successful day where three shards were added to the glowing vial strung around the delicate skin of Kagome's neck, the stubborn hanyou finally gave in.
He was already in a pretty fucking good mood. Then Kagome gave him `the eyes' and stuck her full bottom lip out at him. Unable to deny the priestess, Inuyasha gave in with a sigh and leaned his head ever so slightly foreword. With a squeal of happiness that nearly woke the silent camp up, Kagome's slender fingers captured his triangular ears. Inuyasha couldn't even begin to understand Kagome's fascination with something that had branded him a hanyou, an outcast. The gesture just proved how much the woman that was in his arms accepted him for who he was. Maybe she had some strange fetish, maybe she was just a down right freak, but he didn't care as long as she never stopped. That was as long as she never found out he actually liked it. No…this was purely for her strange pleasure…never his…
Inuyasha's sleepy eyes soon opened dreamily and his first site of the day was his beautiful, wickedly insatiable mate. Soft lips curled into a small smile before pressing against Kagome's. The couple pulled apart and shared an affectionate look of love before voicing the first words of the morning.
“Morning sleepyhead.” Kagome quietly greeted.
“Morning…” Inuyasha's scratchy voice answered back.
“You usually wake up before me Inuyasha. Were you that tired? …Hmm seems my mate is losing his once youthful stamina. Maybe no more `challenges' for a while, ne?” she teased lightly. The hanyou growled at her playfully.
“I'll make you regret questioning my endurance, mate.” he murmured against her cheek as he softly nuzzled it. Kagome smiled at him and tangled her slender legs around his powerful ones. How far this was from when they first met. The man she'd almost immediately grown to love was in her arms. A year into the journey when Kikyou still held a vice grip on Inuyasha's fragile heart, Kagome would have whole heartedly laughed at the notion, even possible notion, of the hanyou returning her feelings. But after many painful tear-filled nights, heartbroken mornings, and hopeless days, Inuyasha now lie next to her.
Kagome remembered the days when Kikyou would be lurking deep in her innermost secret thoughts. The priestess had dug a little hole of insecurity and doubt into Kagome's ever forgiving heart. There had been nights when Kagome seriously considered abandoning the mission and staying in the future permanently. But her undying love for the hanyou always brought her back. The invisible bond of love chained her to him and refused to break, no matter how much her heart did.
The first year of their journey had been rocky and unstable. It was within that year that Kagome came to the painful realization of her devotion to the hanyou. That had also been the year she had run into Inuyasha and Kikyou a few agonizing times too many. The sick part is she never even meant to spy on them. An aura would draw her near and the inevitable scene would repeat time after time in her eyes. It was like the gods were laughing at her, mocking her. They were showing her what she could never have, and who really resided in Inuyasha's heart. That had been the year of miscommunication and fear of rejection.
Inuyasha had berated himself for being so weak as to fall in love again. Didn't the first time teach him anything? That a hanyou was not worthy of being loved? He had, much to his extreme annoyance, known almost instantly he wouldn't be able to resist Kagome's caring heart. She drew him in like a moth to a flame, and seemed just as deadly. He had been in denial the entire first year of their relationship. There was absolutely no way he was going to set himself up for all that disappointment again. Inuyasha's heart refused to abandon Kikyou and he had to live with the consequences. It tore him up to look into the tear and pain stricken face of Kagome whenever she walked on in Kikyou and him. The dark little demon within his thoughts refused to acknowledge that Kagome might return his feelings. …Even if she did, she'd want to change him wouldn't she?
By the second year of their journey the feelings had deepened and along with that, their fears. Both couldn't live without the other, yet Kikyou held a permanent gap between them. Inuyasha's honour would never allow them to be together so as long as the priestess walked the earth. Neither initiated any form of intimate contact. Holding hands with the brash hanyou seemed to be a far fetched, silly school girl dream in Kagome's mind. Something that was just in front of her, but it was also something she never seemed to be able to grasp. Inuyasha's conflicting thoughts wouldn't allow him to let Kagome in, knowing he could lose her with the whisper of Kikyou's promise. Kagome knew any advancement she made would only confuse him further. The ill fated couple lived in a world of denial and desperately clung to the few precious memories they had.
When the group had to travel fast Inuyasha carried the miko from the future on his strong back. While they were flying through the air Kagome would hold herself tighter against his form, relishing in the contact. Inuyasha seemed to need and savior those moments just as much as her. He'd often carry her longer than necessary once the pace slowed again. While walking through the worn trails a silent agreement was instilled as they both understood each other's unspoken needs. The second year had also been the year of changes. After the battle with Kaguya, Inuyasha killed the old demons that Kikyou had festered in his mind. Inuyasha had gone to her and told the dead priestess he refused to ascend to hell with her.
With that burden lifted from his mind Inuyasha had rejoiced. His happiness was short lived as another hurdle blinded his thoughts and halted all notions of advancing his relationship with Kagome. How likely was it that he would survive the battle with Naraku? Inuyasha wouldn't deepen their love only to take it all away, knowing it was a possible chance from the very beginning. The fear of death kept him from expressing his true feelings towards Kagome. It was better to keep her at a distance…to protect her from himself. But with the weight of Kikyou finally off Inuyasha's shoulders he couldn't help but become a little more affectionate towards the irresistible miko.
In the third and final year of the search for the shikon shards their relationship was undeniably deepening. While nothing more than star gazing in each other's embrace took place, their mental understanding of one another blossomed. Inuyasha had still been adamant about keeping their physical relationship, or lack there of, secret. Enemies couldn't know Kagome was his weakness or they'd use her against him. His `weakness' had also been his greatest strength. Inuyasha's fierce protectiveness of his intended only empowered him and helped him slaughter vicious demons with a slice of his fang. After the group successfully brought Naraku to his demise Inuyasha fully and openly committed himself to Kagome. The couple finally furthered their long denied relationship and swore themselves to the other. Inuyasha's magical blood infused with Kagome's and altered her lifespan to lengthen it to the incredible one of his own. Their life rapidly materialized in front of their eyes as one accomplishment followed another. Their home was soon built and the laughter of children quickly filled its empty spaces. All of life's problems seemed to be resolved and the hanyou and miko couldn't seem to ask for more…
“What are you so smiley about?” Inuyasha asked, breaking the silence of the room. Kagome bit her bottom lip to contain the laugh that wanted to break though. She felt absolutely free and happy and couldn't help but grin like a maniac.
“You. Kami Inuyasha!” she answered blissfully, “We've done it you know? I really didn't think we'd be able to…but here I am, lying next to the best damn man on earth!” Kagome smiled brightly and pressed her nose against his. She gazed into Inuyasha's honey eyes with her own that were gleaming with happiness. Inuyasha couldn't help the smile that rose on his on lips and pressed them against Kagome's in a chaste tender kiss.
“Of course we've done it baka.” Inuyasha spoke softly, “What, did you think I'd let you go without a fight?! You can't leave my side now Kagome Higurashi! You're my one and only mate and nothing's going to change that.” he stopped briefly then grinned, “Even if you're mad at me you can't leave our pups.” Kagome rolled her eyes at him playfully and shoved him away. Sitting up, the blanket fell to Kagome's waist, exposing her naked chest to the chilled air. Inuyasha lay on his side watching his mate as her nipples deliciously puckered in the cool temperatures.
“We better go get the kids Inuyasha. Then we can head over to Sango and Miroku's.”
Inuyasha completely ignored Kagome and began to kiss the soft skin of her stomach. The miko giggled at his light ticklish kisses and squealed when he licked a particularly sensitive spot. Kagome pushed at Inuyasha's broad shoulders and attempted to get off their soft cocoon. Inuyasha didn't budge and started nipping the underside of her breast. Kagome didn't struggle and allowed him to do as he pleased. Figuring he was in, Inuyasha sat up and looked Kagome in the eyes devilishly. With a gleam in his golden orbs Inuyasha leaned forward to capture his mate's lips. Kagome averted her lips and pressed a teasing kiss on Inuyasha's forehead before jumping off the bed. A growl issued from his throat along with Kagome's laughter.
“Don't you want to see Kyo and Saaya, Inu-kun?” Kagome purposefully teased with his nickname. Inuyasha pouted briefly but eventually rolled out of bed. With a dark air of sulkiness Inuyasha answered,
“Fucking tease…”
~*~*~*~*~*~
The couple soon gathered their children from the future era with a promise to visit again soon. Emerging from the ancient well the happy family raced towards Sango and Miroku's. Inuyasha quickly gathered Saaya in his arms and swung the little hanyou on his shoulders. The pair ultimately won the race and left Kyo to battle for second place against his mommy. With a final splurge of speed the little silver haired boy planted his palm against the cool wood of former taijiya's home.
Sango quickly opened the door when she heard the final third slap upon her home from Kagome's breathless form. Swinging open the wooden frame Sango was met with the hanyou family. She smiled brightly at the four and ushered them inside. Miroku emerged from an adjoining room with a sleepy two year old daughter in his arms. Hanging onto his leg was an energetic violet eyed four year old boy.
“Ah, Kagome-chan, Inuyasha! What brings you here this early in the day?” the former houshi greeted cheerfully, having long ago dropped the `sama'.
“Morning Miroku.” Kagome smiled back. Then giving Sango a happy look Kagome pulled a bag from behind her back and asked, “Guess what I brought from the future Sango?” Promptly opening the containers Kagome revealed fresh steaming stacks of maple syrup drowned pancakes. Sango's head rolled back blissfully and sighed,
“You spoil us Kagome.”
“But of course!” she replied cheekily with a wink.
“Why don't I get any credit?!” Inuyasha demanded.
“Yes, yes. Thank you as well Inuyasha.” Miroku pacified playfully. Inuyasha rolled his eyes at the monk but held his arms out to the pervert. Miroku happily handed his daughter over to the capable hands of the hanyou and leaned in close to Kagome to inhale the scent of the pancakes. Inuyasha gently ticked the belly of the human girl and she fully woke from her state of drowsiness. Upon seeing the hanyou's face smiling above her own the little girl squealed happily and tugged a lock of silver hair.
“Uncle Inu!”
“Hey princess.” he greeted with a grimace as her grip tightened. Saaya poked her daddy's leg unhappily with her stubby finger and glared at him. Inuyasha picked Saaya up with his other arm and kissed her nose lovingly. “You're my princess too.”
“Excuse me?” Kagome playfully feigned annoyance. Inuyasha balanced both little girls in his arms and pressed a big, fat, wet sloppy kiss on Kagome's lips. He pulled back with a smirk at her disgruntled expression. Kagome ran her sleeve against her mouth and glared at Inuyasha. Saaya and Maiko laughed happily in Inuyasha's hold, clapping their little hands together in delight. Tapping her foot impatiently on the wooden floor Sango cleared her throat.
“Excuse me?” Inuyasha rolled his eyes and greeted,
“Morning Sango.” placing a quick kiss on her cheek. Sighing tiredly with an air of good fun Inuyasha complained, “Everyone wants a piece of me!” Another deeper voice cleared their throat.
“Excuse me?” Miroku rang out with extreme offense. Sango and Kagome laughed at the monk's completely insulted look and glanced at Inuyasha. The hanyou glared at him and would have flicked him off if he had the arms to do so. Sango gathered Kyo in her arms and sat him down in her lap.
“Oof. You're getting heavier Kyo-chan.” Sango voiced.
“Cause I'm growing into a big strong hanyou like my daddy!” he answered proudly. Sango smiled fondly at him and ruffled his hair.
“Come here Takai!” Kagome cooed the violet eyed boy. The plump black haired human happily plopped himself down in Kagome's lap. He basked in the attention of a beautiful woman, taking much after his father. Miroku took Saaya from Inuyasha's arms and they all sat around the eating area. Sango produced plates which Kagome piled pancakes upon. The two families began their morning meal with lively conversation.
Kyo quickly began the tale of the fascinating butterfly that had entered his window the previous day. The innocent hanyou boy had then gone on to tell Sango about the strange object that seemed to be trying to poke out of his daddy's pants that morning. Miroku added another lump to his collection on his head from Inuyasha's embarrassed figure and chose to keep any other comments he had to himself.
“Anyways…” Kagome interrupted Kyo's story with a deep blush staining her cheeks. “Prepare to be spoiled further Sango!” she happily smiled at the taijiya, “Me and Inuyasha are taking all the kids for the next couple days!” Miroku breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank you Kami! It's about time we started working on number th-” his sentence was cut off when a pancake was thrown in his face. “I mean…it's about time I got to spend some quality time with Sango! Star gazing…you know…that stuff…” he trailed off dejectedly. Inuyasha scoffed at the monk and turned his attention to the human girl in his lap that was happily tangling his hair.
“I don't think you're gonna get a little brother or sister anytime soon Maiko. Your daddy's pretty stupid and if he keeps opening that trap of his I don't think you'll ever get another sibling.”
“Inuyasha!” Kagome reprimanded.
“What? It's true!” he defended himself.
“Have to give him credit, he's right Kagome-chan.” Sango agreed.
“But Sango my dearest!” Miroku cried fearfully.
“Oh give it a rest you lecher.” Inuyasha cried exasperated.
“That's rich coming from you…” Kagome muttered quietly but knew Inuyasha would catch it. His ears twitched in her direction and he sent her an impish grin. “All right Takai, Maiko. You two want to come sleep over at Uncle Inuyasha's and Auntie Kagome's for a couple nights? You can play with Kyo and Saaya all day…” she baited. The children's cries of compliance bounced off the walls.
Sango and Kagome went to pack overnight bags for the kids and left Inuyasha and Miroku with all four children. They set the kids in the middle of the room together and sat back to watch them. Takai sneakily kissed Saaya on the cheek with his arms behind his back. Saaya giggled happily and Kyo growled threateningly at Takai. Maiko creeped up behind Kyo and tackled the hanyou boy down. The brown eyed two year old stole an innocent kiss from Kyo and jumped off him giggling. Kyo fell to his behind and rubbed his cheek furiously to rid himself of cooties. An adorable light blush fought its way to the surface of Kyo's cheeks as he pouted on the ground with his stubby legs crossed.
“It's kinda scary how much they're like you lecher.” Inuyasha commented.
“Ahh…they're learning the joys of life early on. I must say Kyo seems to have inherited your blushing abilities quite well.” Miroku oh so innocently commented back.
“Your kids aren't even five and they're going around kissing other kids. I swear to god Miroku, if Takai palms my daughter I'm gonna smack the living daylights out of you!” he threatened.
“What!” Miroku spluttered, “Why me!”
“Who else would have taught him that baka! I pray for the sake of their futures they take after Sango and not you.” the hanyou sighed.
“Your words truly hurt Inuyasha…truly hurt…”
“Shut up Miroku.”
~*~*~*~*~*~
In a small hut not to far off from the forest of Inuyasha, a woman smiled approvingly at her reflection. Her platinum hair flowed down her back in a straight silky sheet. Dark-blue menacing eyes with long black lashes stared back at her creamy complexion. The female demon's ruby red lips curved in a satisfied smile. Her elegant white kimono flowed around her as she abruptly stood up and curled her fist tightly at her side. Fantasies ran through her mind and her laughter filled the dimly lit hut.
`Finally…after all this searching I've found you. I do hope you're ready to cast aside that pathetic human of yours. It's time you took your real mate…it's time you made me the other Queen of the Western lands Inuyasha…'

R/R =) Reviews are greatly appreciated, *hint hint*, lol.
Haha oh come on! It's not a real Inuyasha story without a villain! This chapter was pretty filler I know…which is partially why it took so long to write. But I need to set up the storyline! Alright…thanks for the awesome feedback so far!! Until next time…lol =)
