Kagome stepped out of the water and laid down on the bank. Blanketing her mind with the task at hand, she stared out into the luminous sky and let her power overtake her.

The group wandered closer to the northern lands. Tired and weary souls clung to their hardened shells as they each dealt with their inner conflicts.
Unbeknown to them a silent apparition followed them as they ventured deeper into the forests awaiting the appointed time

Later that evening

Rest would not come to the travelers as they continued into the night. Stress and anxiety gripped them tightly, making them racked with unease and tension. The group soon had to stop themselves from pushing any harder and set camp for the night.
The disquiet choked them into solitude, all too wrapped up in their own musings to notice anything else. By the time the last embers died off, they had fallen into what would almost be considered a hypnotic slumber, all except Miroku.

Entranced by the dying flames he sat alone watching as the smoke rose and mixed with the mist of the night. Beginning to nod off on the damp log upon which he sat, he nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard and felt his name whispered into his ear.
His eyes snapping open, he whirled around to face them only to see nothing.
Now fully awake he stood, his eyes scanning the camp as he tried to calm his breathing.
His sutras were still in place, his comrades sleeping soundly, and yet the voice had sounded so real.
Definitely female, soft, low, husky, like a quiet whisper in a lover's ear. Bringing his hand to his ear, he could still feel the soft breath caressing his lobe.
Suddenly he felt an un-ignorable tug coming from outside the camp and his body start to answer its call. Struggle as he might the feeling only got stronger the farther he went.
Desperately he went to call out to his friends only to find his voice lost and he continued further into the foggy mist.

Thick and damp the mist clung to his form, condensing like dew on his face and robes. He fought to stop his heart from pounding as he tried to search the darkness and slipped further into the fog's embrace. The longer he stalled the greater the throbbing grew, until it grew almost too painful to ignore it.
Dropping his staff he fell to the ground, he eyes squeezed shut as he clutched the grass beneath him. He stayed there crouched, before he heard the voice whisper to him, calling him, beckoning him to come.
He laid on the grass, as he body panged, he senses gone wild, as his mind was quickly flooded with a memory of a long ago past. The voiced seemed so familiar now and suddenly he found the strength to move. Using a tree to brace and steady himself, he continued on, discarding his outer robe in the process.

She moved, stirring quietly she sat up, all was going as planned. She looked around the dying embers flickering as the chill of night snuffed out its life. She took in the camp, all were there, except one, soon to be two, she smiled her hair covering her darkening eyes, a light flashed briefly through them before vanishing as she stood and walked out into the night.

He watched them all. He saw the secrets they each held, the lies they each told, the distrust, and deceit they were each capable of. He watched it all, the thing that bound them all together not strong enough to bind them to each other as they all thought. He smiled before he leapt away. He too had a secret. Grinning too he mused, who would have thought it all started with just a kiss…one small innocent kiss…
Well maybe not that innocent….
