Just a Note to Say…..

Apologies and Surprises

Chapter 6

The alarm went off. Kagome sat up slowly and wiped the sleep from her eyes. She sighed and looked at her alarm clock. 6:30 am. Kagome put her feet on the floor and looked at herself in the mirror. Her room was dark, the only light was coming from underneath her door. But there was enough light to see the outline of her reflection.

Kagome looked at her frizzy hair and groggy figure. She stood and opened her door, the light blinding her eyes. She raised her arms as a shield from the light. And was surprised to see Sango sitting outside on her balcony.

"Sango?" Kagome asked, wondering if she was still somewhat asleep.

Sango walked into the small dining room area and leaned against one of the chairs.

"How did you get in here? You didn't get caught did you?"

Sango shook her head. "No, Miroku showed a secret way to get around the school, underground."

Kagome nodded and sat down on the chair opposite Sango. Sango looked over at her friend and saw how sad she looked. Sango walked over to her and leaned down on her knees and put her hands on Kagome's lap.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Kagome looked up at Sango. Sango noticed the tears in her eyes.

"What did he do?" Kagome knew who she meant.

"He was acting strange yesterday, and when I went to see him…" Kagome stopped and wiped away the tear that appeared on her right cheek.

"Hey," Sango said soothingly, holding Kagome's hand, "it's ok. You'll feel better if you get it off your chest. You'll be ok."

Kagome looked at Sango and forced a smile. "He…" she began, "I asked him to tell me, why he purposely made you get mad at Miroku, and he growled at me, to leave," Kagome paused. "Then, he pushed me."

Sango continued to stare at her friend's face. "Did it hurt?" Kagome looked away, "Sort of, but it was more shock that he would do that to me. He doesn't even KNOW me!" Kagome began to cry.

"How did he push you? Was it like he was purposely trying to hurt you, or a push to leave, or how?" Kagome shrugged, "He growled at me to get out. Maybe he just wanted me out. I don't know!" she cried.

Sango stood up and hugged her friend.

"You should go talk to him," Sango said calmly.

Kagome looked up at her. "What? He probably doesn't want to see me. And why should I go talk to him!?!"

Sango sighed and looked at Kagome.

"Kagome, we have been friends since long before I can remember. And I have never known you to hold a grudge on someone. I know that you don't want to see him, but did you think that there might be a chance that he feels the tiniest bit guilty?"

Kagome shook her head, "Him? Yeah right! He's a stubborn mule!" Sango rolled her eyes and walked to the door.

"You're not acting like yourself Kagome, and I'm worried. But go TALK to him!"

Sango left Kagome sitting there. Her head full of thoughts.

`Him, feel guilty? I don't feel like myself. I never usually get this mad. What's wrong with me?'

Sango stood in the hall, waiting for Miroku, hopefully his talk with Inuyasha was more eventful then hers with Kagome.

"What the hell are you doing in my room, Miroku!" Inuyasha slammed the fridge shut and spun angrily on Miroku.

"You need to listen to me, Inuyasha. Have you spoken with Kagome?"

Inuyasha shook his head, "Why should I?" "Do you not know what you did to her?"

Inuyasha looked away at a stain on the tiled floor.

"I didn't do it on purpose," he muttered under his breath. Miroku heard him and nodded. "I know, but why did you do it?"

Inuyasha gazed at Miroku angrily. "That's none of your damn business!" she shouted.

Hiten was at his girlfriends room. So while Inuyasha wailed, Hiten wouldn't be disturbed.

Inuyasha sat on the couch by the door, and noticed Kagome's bag lying beside him. He grabbed it and held it, before he threw it away from him.

Miroku caught it and held onto the leather sack.

"What is troubling you, Inuyasha?" Inuyasha shook his head, "Nothing I'd tell you," he said. Miroku could realize softness in Inuyasha's eyes.

"What's wrong?" he asked again.

"I don't know, I can't explain it," Inuyasha complained. "I don't feel like myself. Whenever I get angry, I feel like I have extra energy and I lose control of myself." Miroku stared at Inuyasha. "I told you, it's hard to explain!" Miroku sat beside Inuyasha on the couch and sighed.

"Go talk to her Inuyasha," Miroku said calmly. "You need to explain this to her."

Inuyasha shook his head, "No, I'm not gonna. Besides, she probably wouldn't even wanna look at me, after what I did."

"What DID you do?" Miroku asked curiously. Inuyasha looked at the beige carpet at his feet.

"I pushed her away from me. She was trying to get an answer out of me, and I pushed her. She hit the wall."

Miroku gasped, "Then you have to go talk to her, you upset her. Sango and I saw her close her drapes, she was crying."

Inuyasha looked even more guilty. "I didn't mean to make her cry. I don't get close to people."

"But you have," Miroku finished.

Inuyasha looked questionably at Miroku. "What does that mean?" he asked angrily. "Don't go butting yourself into my life, pal!" Miroku sighed. "My apologies. Just go talk to her Inuyasha…" Miroku stood and opened the door.

"You need to talk to her, for both your sakes."

Miroku had put the leather bag on Inuyasha's lap. He stared at it, then sighed, running his fingers through his long silver hair.

`She'll yell at me,' he thought, but stood, holding her bag in his hand. He left his room, and stood outside the door of Kagome's.

"So, what happened?" Sango asked Miroku. Miroku sighed and lifted up the top of the trunk of the stump.

"He's just as I thought. He's a demon, or, only half anyway."

Sango scrunched up her nose. "What do you mean?" "Inuyasha is having difficulty controlling his anger. His demon instincts are telling him to kill, but Inuyasha is fighting them."

"You mean, that Inuyasha is a demon?" Miroku nodded, "Half-demon," he corrected.

Miroku walked Sango through the forest and to her room. Explaining how Inuyasha's father was a full demon and his mother was human.

"What does this have to do with Kagome? What did he say?" Sango inquired, growing anxious.

"He'll go try to talk to her. And this has everything to do with Kagome. She's the only one who can play the music to tame the wild beast."

That was all Miroku said, as he entered his room and left Sango outside her door.

`She's the only one who can tame the wild beast? What does that mean?'

Kagome was searching through her things, but she couldn't remember where she put her leather bag. She was growing frantic.

Rin was still at her `friend's' and Kagome was left alone all night.

Kagome's mind kept going back to her conversation with Sango. `Talk to him,' she thought, `but he won't want to talk to me!'

There was a knock on the door and Kagome sighed. As she walked to the door, her eyes looked around for her bag.

Kagome didn't realize that she was still in her nightgown. But opened up the door anyhow.

Kagome's breath caught when she saw Inuyasha standing there, holding her leather sack.

"You left this in my room yesterday," was all he said as he handed Kagome her bag. She took it and held against her chest.

"Thanks," she said meekly.

"I need to tell you something," Inuyasha said suddenly. Kagome looked up at him, not wanting to hold a grudge, but not being able to help feeling a bit angry at how he treated her yesterday.

"You can come in, if you like," she offered. Inuyasha nodded and walked in. He looked around the room to find clothes and books all over the place.

"I was looking for my bag," she said before he could ask. He nodded and sat down on the couch.

Kagome got a chair from the table and sat down in front of Inuyasha.

"You said you needed to tell me something?"

Inuyasha scratched his black hair and nodded, "Yeah." Kagome leaned back in the chair and folded her arms in front of her.

"So…" she said, not meaning for her to sound so obnoxious.

Inuyasha sighed and rubbed his scalp again. "I'm sorry," he said rather quickly. "I didn't mean to hurt you."

Kagome sighed and leaned on her knees. "Why did you do it?" she asked quietly. Inuyasha didn't look like his usual self. His amber eyes looked duller and his face not so tanned.

"I was angry." "At me?" she asked. "No, not at you. At….never mind." Kagome looked at him, and noticed that he was again, scratching his scalp.

"Are you ok? You keep scratching your head." Inuyasha quickly drew his hand away from his head, then sighed.

"I came to tell you something important." Kagome nodded.

"I'm not what you would call normal," he said. "I'm a hanyou," he said. Expecting Kagome to laugh, or scream. Not just sit there and nod.

"Ok…" she said, "And…" Inuyasha shrugged, "That's it, aren't you going to laugh or something?" Kagome sighed angrily. "If you think I would laugh or scream, then you obviously don't know me that well."

Inuyasha crossed his arms and leaned back on the couch. He reached up to his head and took off his black hair. Showing beautiful silver hair underneath. With two ears. Dog-like ears.

"You wear a wig?" Kagome asked, "Why?" "If people saw my ears they'd know. Or they would scream and run away. Not very many people like demons." "Yeah, but you're only half a demon." Inuyasha growled, "Don't remind me," he snapped.

Kagome got off her chair and sat on her knees. "Don't you like being a hanyou? It's much better than being normal." "I want to be a youkai, but my mother was human."

Inuyasha was surprised in himself for being so open with Kagome.

"Is that why you pushed me?" she asked. "When I get angry, I lose control of myself. I can't control my body. I do stupid and strange things. And when you yelled at me. It made me get even angrier."

"So I deserved it. Is that what you're trying to say?" she guessed.

Inuyasha shook his head. "No, that's not what I'm trying to say, and don't start feeling sorry for yourself! I was angry at my brother, we had another bad fight yesterday. And I was really angry. So when you began to yell at me. It made me lose control. And I didn't mean to push you!" he added quickly.

Kagome nodded and smiled. "Thank you for apologizing. But, I'm sorry. I haven't really been myself lately. I've been yelling at people, mainly you, and I've been feeling really depressed. And, I'm sorry."

Inuyasha nodded away her apology and stood up.

"I'll go, so you can get dressed," he said, making Kagome realize she was still in her nightie and blush.

"'kay." Inuyasha smiled and left. Kagome stuck her head out the door and watched Inuyasha walk into his room.

"You're not all that bad," Kagome said quietly when he shut his door.
