Just a Note to Say…..
The Beginning of Beautiful Friendships
Chapter 8
Sango woke up to the incessant yelling coming from the main room. She realized by looking at her alarm clock that it was still extremely early, 4:28 am.
She swung back the covers and bolted up. She wiped the sleep from her eyes and staggered towards the door. Putting her hair up in a messy ponytail, not even bothering to brush it out first.
"I said, `Get off!'"
Sango opened her door to see two people lying on the ground. One, Sango could tell was Ayame. She was on the ground trying to push someone off of her. But Sango couldn't make out who it was.
"I already told you, you fat idiot! I'm NOT Sango!!"
"You're lying!" The character said in a sing song voice.
"Ayame?" Sango asked, "Who's there with you?"
Ayame kneed the male figure in his abdomen and stood up, staggering sideward onto the couch.
Sango ran her hand over the wall and felt her fingers touch a small light switch. She flicked on the lights to see Ayame sitting on the couch, a blush highlighting her cheeks and perspiration covering her forehead and the area underneath her bottom lip.
And she also saw the sorry figure of Miroku, lying on the ground by the coffee table, clutching himself and quietly groaning.
"What the hell is Miroku doing in here?" Sango asked as she walked over to him and kicked him over with her foot so he was facing the ceiling.
"He seemed to have taken my key and came in. It was hot in my room, so I came out here to sleep on the couch, and the next thing I know. I feel something grabbing me. I open my eyes to see Miroku touching me and saying `Sango'!"
Ayame blushed as she retold what happened.
Miroku on the other hand, was smirking fiendishly and made his way up, so he was level height with Sango.
"Sango," Miroku sighed happily. Sango held up a hand and sat beside Ayame on the couch.
"Don't even bother, Miroku," she said massaging the bridge of her nose.
Miroku slunk down on the spare bit of couch beside of Sango and put his arm around her shoulders.
"My, isn't this lovely," he sighed. Sango shrugged off his arm and stood up and sat on the other side of Ayame.
Ayame quickly stood up, "Don't think I wanna sit beside him." She quickly dashed back to her room, and Sango heard the door lock.
Sango folded her arms, only waiting for Miroku to move over to her and begin to grope her.
`3…2…1…'
Sango instantly stuck out an arm that pressed against Miroku's chest to stop him from moving closer to her on the couch.
His arms were open as if to hug her and his lips were puckered, "Spoiling the fun, are we?" he pouted.
"No," Sango said firmly.
Miroku sighed, "I understand." He stood up and headed for the door. Sango blinked fascinated and stared as Miroku opened the door.
"What's the matter, don't feel like groping anymore?" Sango said sarcastically as she stood.
"No, I just realized that the way to win fair lady's heart is to impress her, not dazzle her," Miroku said with a sneaky shine in his eyes.
Sango blushed. Miroku moved close to her. Sango stepped back, as she realized how close his face was to hers.
Sango began to turn around, when Miroku seized her wrist. Not in a meaningful way as in to hurt her, but just to get her attention.
Sango blushed profusely as she felt his warm grip on her arm. She turned around to see his gaze on her face.
Miroku let go of her wrist and moved behind her.
`What's he doing?' Sango's mind gasped. But she didn't feel his hands roaming her body. She felt nothing but the cruel, stifling heat.
Then, suddenly, the light in the living room was turned off. Miroku had shut off the light. Sango stood there, anxiously in the dark. She felt a hand brush across her rear. She blushed, but grew angry, she saw Miroku standing beside her, smirking.
"Hentai," she hissed, as she raised her hand to strike him in the face, but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into him.
She felt as if he was about to hug her, so she kept her arms out in front of her to shield her from his embrace.
But Sango felt no arms hug her body.
She opened her eyes, and looked up to meet the gaze of Miroku looking down on her. The moon reflecting off his eyes. Making him look awfully attractive. The way his hair hung by his eyes. The way his teeth shone when he smiled. The way his eyes sparkled when he grinned mischievously. He made Sango feel very nervous.
She felt goose bumps crawling up her arms and legs. She felt the heat in her cheeks as her arms rested against his chest.
"Sango," Miroku whispered.
Sango looked up into his gaze. She whimpered softly.
`What's he going to do?' her mind shouted.
"Yes," she answered back. Sango felt a lump clog up her throat. She was having a hard time breathing. She felt her stomach tighten. She felt her legs quiver.
"What would you do, if I was to kiss you?" he asked. He didn't say it in his usual perverted manor. He said it with gentility and kindness.
Sango couldn't answer, she was too nervous and embarrassed to answer. She felt his arms move around her waist.
`What's he doing?' her mind quivered.
She saw his head lean down. His head was above her shoulder, she felt the warmth of his breath on her neck and she shuddered.
"Good morning," he whispered as he kissed her gently on the cheek.
He walked out of the room and closed the door lightly.
Sango stood there. A fierce blush dancing cross her cheeks.
Sango walked to the glass door of the balcony and opened it quietly. She walked out and let her hair down.
The wind blew it across her face as she shut her eyes. The moon bringing an angelic glow across her face.
"Miroku," Sango said quietly into the soft breeze, which stole her words and threw them into the early hours of the morning.
And as the stars began to fade, Sango thought `Miroku' and she smiled.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kagome sat up, her hair hung in her eyes and her mouth had the horrible morning taste, thanks to her for forgetting to brush her teeth yesterday.
Kagome had trouble sleeping last night. She was too busy thinking about what Sango told her to sleep. Who was the dark haired man and what did he want?
Kagome raised a hand to her mouth.
"Oh my, dear God! I missed my date with Kouga!!" she screeched. She completely forgot. She only wanted to rest a bit, but she fell asleep, and now, it was SUNDAY!!!
Kagome got up off her bed and walked out into the living room. She could hear Rin sleep talking in her room about pink cotton candy clouds and ponies.
Kagome normally would have smiled at Rin's idiotic behavior, but now, she was too worried about what Kouga might think about her.
How could she have forgotten!?! She'd been looking forward to it all week, and she just FORGOT!!!
`Kouga's gonna be mad!'
Kagome grabbed her key off the kitchenette counter and ran down the hallway.
`I need to clear my head, it's too smoggy in there! I can barely breathe let alone think straight!'
Kagome was in the elevator on the third floor when she realized that she just as easily could have gone on her balcony, but it was too late now.
The doors opened with a *bing* and she walked outside to the western backyard area. She saw two couples sitting on benches holding each others hands and watching the sun rise.
Kagome felt a tinge of jealousy, she wished she could find a guy who would love her that much, to get up and watch a sun rise with her.
Kagome dismissed the idea as she continued to walk past the lovers.
She walked to one of the gardens and sat down on the bench in front of it. There was a lovely cherry blossom tree and jasmines, and Kagome's nose felt rich as she breathed in the intoxicating smell of the plants.
She shut her eyes and sighed, leaning her head against her shoulder. But she was interrupted when she felt someone tap her hand.
"Mind if I joined you?"
Kagome opened her eyes to see Kouga standing there in a navy blue joggers outfit. He smiled down at her, and Kagome felt guilt twisting and churning her stomach.
"Sure," she said as she scooted over.
Kouga sat down and he sighed happily. Kagome was twisting her shirt in her hands nervously.
"Look, Kouga, about yesterday…" "It's ok. You must have had something better to do," he interrupted. Kagome shook her head fiercely. "No, it was a mistake to forget. An honest mistake. I am so sorry for forgetting you like that, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me."
Kagome stared off into the horizon when she heard Kouga's soft chuckle. She looked at him with wide eyes.
`Is he laughing at me? Did I say something wrong?'
Kouga patted her hand and smiled, "Kagome, you are a kind woman. You see, I don't really care about yesterday. Because all I wanted was to see you again, and spend some time with you, but look now, we are sitting on a bench outside at five in the morning watching a beautiful sunrise," he chuckled once more, "I think I may have gotten my date after all."
Kagome smiled, Kouga was an extremely sweet guy to say such nice things about her.
`He wanted to spend time with me, see me again.'
Kagome felt a blush appear on her face.
"I didn't say anything to offend you did I?" Kouga asked, gazing at the blush pink highlights drifting cross Kagome's light cheeks.
"No, not at all. You said really nice things, and I," Kagome shrugged, "made me feel, I don't know, appreciated, that's all."
Kagome felt Kouga move, and she realized that he draped his arm over her shoulders to block the distance between them.
Kagome smiled and stared off into the distance. She felt tired and she rested her head on his shoulder. Hoping that he wouldn't mind.
He looked down at her suddenly and she shot her head back up.
"I'm sorry," she said quickly. Kouga smiled, "I don't mind, I was just wondering, tomorrow, would you like to meet me down here to watch the sun rise again?"
Kagome smiled happily, "Yes, I'd love to."
Kouga smiled, took her hand and kissed the top of it gently. Kagome blushed, "Kouga…" she began.
He looked down at her. At the cute, blushing school girl sitting beside him under the orange painted sky.
"Uh-huh?" "Thank you."
She leaned her head back down on his shoulder and shut her eyes.
Kouga laid his head on top of hers and shifted closer to her on the bench so he could hold her hand.
The two of them sat there. Under the rising sun, with cherry blossoms and jasmine surrounding them.
"Kagome!"
Kagome sat up quickly, hitting Kouga in the nose with her head. Kagome gasped,
"Oh! I'm sorry!" She reached up her hands as if showing him she wanted to help, "Are you ok?"
Kouga nodded and smiled, moving his nose around, "Yep, just dandy," he said jokingly. "Who was that?" he asked. Kagome shrugged, "I don't know."
Just then she saw a rather angry looking Inuyasha coming towards her.
"Uh-oh," she whispered. Kouga looked down at her, then at the angry second year before him.
"Do you need something?" Kouga asked. Inuyasha glared daggers at Kagome,
"Give it back!" he shouted at her.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she said rudely, crossing one leg over the other and crossing her arms across her chest.
Inuyasha grabbed her wrist and pulled her up off the bench. "You fucked up my room and took it, now where the hell is it!!"
Kagome tried to wiggle out of his grip, but he was gripping her too firmly.
Kouga stood up and pushed Inuyasha away from Kagome. He took her in the crook of his arm and held her close.
"You have an issue with women, Inuyasha," Kouga snarled.
Inuyasha's eyes widened, "You know who I am?" Kouga chuckled, "You're Sesshoumaru's brother." "HALF brother," Inuyasha shouted.
Kagome turned around in Kouga's grasp and glared hatefully at Inuyasha.
"You are a jerk, Inuyasha. A stubborn mule who has an anger problem. I wish I never met you. I never want to see you again. You are rude to me and treat me like crap!! What have I ever done to you!?! I did NOT ransack your room, and because I say that, you can not yell at me!!! Don't even bother yelling at Kouga, because he didn't do anything either. So please, since you have a hard time listening, since your head is so thick, let me explain something to you."
Kagome walked out of Kouga's grip and in front of Inuyasha. His eyes no longer full of disgust, but of shock and surprise.
"Go into the woods and never come out! That way, we don't have to see you, and you don't have to see us! But if you can treat me with kindness and not always yell at me or insult me, then I will permit you to stay! Do you got that!?!" Kagome stabbed her finger into Inuyasha's chest several times. She glared at him hatefully and he looked back down on her.
"Bitch!" Inuyasha yelled pushing her back into the arms of Kouga, and he ran off.
Kagome stood there dumbfounded in Kouga's grip.
He sat Kagome down on the bench and he realized that she was crying. He rubbed her tears away with his thumbs and held her hands.
"I - I've never been so angry. I've never yelled at someone like that before."
Kagome was talking quietly and Kouga leaned towards her to hear her words of sadness.
"Kagome," he said softly, "he shouldn't have yelled at you in such a way. He shouldn't talk to you in that manor either. You don't deserve it. You are beautiful, kind, sweet and genuine. Men should respect you and treat you as the elegant rose you are, not as some common dandelion."
Kagome sniffled and let her forehead rest against Kouga's chest.
"Do you really mean that? Everything you said?" Kouga took her chin in his fingers and made her look up at him.
"Every word."
Kagome hugged him tightly as he hugged her back. She rested her head against his chest, feeling secure in his arms.
She felt him rub her back and kiss the top of her head.
"Thank you Kouga," she whispered and looked up at him. And as she was about to say something more, he captured her lips in a gentle kiss.
She shut her eyes and brought her hands around his neck as he held his arms strongly against her waist.
Their lips touched with gentility and compassion.
When they parted Kagome looked up into the innocent pale blue eyes of Kouga.
"I better go back inside, now," she said softly.
Kouga nodded, "I'll see you tomorrow morning."
Kagome stood up and bent over to kiss Kouga gently on the cheek. As she walked away their hands were separated.
Kagome felt her heart quicken when she was inside.
Inuyasha stood in front of her. His eyes looking sad and hollow.
"You can't trust him," he whispered.
"What do you know?" she spat back as she stepped into the elevator.
But before the doors closed, she heard him say, "He's not who you think he is."
A/N: I thought this was a very sweet chapter. K/K fluff and M/S fluff!!! Wondering what Inuyasha meant? Don't worry, you'll find out……………..in about ten chapters;)!!!
