:Previously:
She took one last look at everybody before she stopped, feeling the hard wood of the well behind her.
“And I've always wanted to tell you that… that… that I love you, and I will always have you in my broken heart, InuYasha.” With that she smiled at everybody and fell backwards into the well with a last, “Farewell.”
---
“KAGOME!” InuYasha yelled as he ran and jumped into the well, only to reach the bottom of it. “KAGOME!” He yelled again, silent tears running down his face.
“Kagome!” Shippou cried, holding on to the young Taijiya, who was also in tears.
“Kagome-chan…” Sango said, “Why?” before she broke into sobs holding onto the little kitsune.
“Kagome-sama.” Miroku stated, tears falling down his face as well.
InuYasha just cried, “KAGOME! COME BACK! I'M SORRY! KAGOME!” He cried one last time, before collapsing and breaking into body racking sobs.
:Kagome's Era:
I heard InuYasha's first cry, as I fell down the well to come into the future. “I'm so sorry everybody, but I need to get things figured out.” I stated, as I climbed the well, with tears rolling down my face.
As I walked into the house I was greeted by my smiling mother, until she saw her daughter's red, puffy eyes, and the tears running down her face.
“Kagome, dear?” She asked quietly.
“Mom!” Kagome practically screamed as she ran into her mother's open arms. “Mama, I can't take it anymore! I'm staying home for good!” I said into my mother's arms, her response was to tighten hold on her daughter and run her fingers down her hair.
“Shh, baby, shh.” She said rocking her daughter back and forth, the best she could standing up. “It's alright, it's alright.”
“No it isn't mama! I can't take it there anymore! I…” I couldn't finish because I was sobbing uncontrollably. “I love him mama, and I can't take it! I can't take it every time he goes to see her! I can't!”
Sota chose that time to walk in, “Mama, we're out of pic,” Then he saw his sister in there mother's arms. “…kles, Kagome?”
His mother was the only one to turn her head, “Sota, could you get the tub running for Kagome, and put my Aromatherapy massaging oil in it as well?” Sota just nodded and ran upstairs to fill the tub. She turned toward her sobbing daughter.
“Kagome, come inside and sit down.” She led her daughter into the house without releasing her hold on her, and sat down on the couch.
“Kagome care to tell me what happened?” Her mother asked caringly. I just shook my head, no. “O.k, you can tell me when you're ready.”
Sota then came down the stairs and said, “Mom, the bath is ready.”
“Thank you, Sota.” She said, letting go of her daughter, and Sota went upstairs to his room having finished his task his mother wanted him to do. (boy, I want a brother like that... -.-)
“Come on Kagome, you take a bath and then we can talk o.k?” She said looking into my red, puffy eyes.
I nodded my head and said, “Yes. Thank you, mama.” and walked up the stairs, and into the bathroom.
:Feudal Era:
At this same time back with the four-some, they where at Kaede's house telling her of the bad news.
“Kagome said she was sorry, but she couldn't take her heart being broken anymore and jumped into the well.” Miroku finished.
“Oh, Kagome.” Keade said wiping her tears, and then she looked at InuYasha. “She said thee incarnation, correct?”
He just nodded, “Keade-sama, he hasn't said a word since she left.” Miroku said in a whisper, and InuYasha glared at him.
“Ie, she didn't want ye to come and get her.”
InuYasha just looked at her miserably, as if asking `why?'
Keade saw this and told him, “The only reason you could come and get her is that ye had on the rosary.” She explained, “Without it ye could not pass through thee well.”
Shippou, who hasn't stopped crying, asked hopefully. “Couldn't you put another one on him so that he could go and get my mother?” He started using the word `mother' ever since she jumped into the well.
“Nee, child, she would have to use a substituting spell. That is what keeps InuYasha connected to her.” InuYasha nodded grimily; with out it InuYasha felt like no one in the world cared if he existed, which more or less was true. Sango who was so mad a him refused to talk to him, Miroku was so withdrawn that it was scary, and Shippou was crying so much he didn't know what he was thinking...
Shippou started crying again, nobody could stop him from doing so, they even tried to bribe him into the rest of Kagome's candy that she had given them hours before.
That until InuYasha picked him up, with Shippou giving off a little, “Eek!” thinking that he would pound him for not shutting up, but he did just the opposite. He picked him up and placed him in his lap, hugging him.
That little caring move made little Shippou burst into tears again and grab onto InuYasha's haori. “Daddy, I want mommy back!” He cried.
Making everybody in the room gasp and stare at the little kitsune then at InuYasha, who in turn looked overly shocked himself. Then he looked at the kitsune and few tears fell down his face as well.
“I do to Shippou,” he spoke for the first time in hours, “I do to.”
