chapter 1: secrets to be told

"Osawari!" was the sound greeting Kagome's mother, when she stepped out into the warm afternoon sunshine. This of course was followed by a 'BAM!!', and a string of muffled curses, said undoubtedly by Inu-Yasha.

"Inu-Yasha, I told you already, I can't go; I have tests to study for. Do you want me to fail!" shouted Kagome.

"Do you want Miroku to die!" countered Inu-Yasha. Kagome was speechless. She had never thought of it that way before. Every day Miroku was closer to death, and Naraku a bit more powerful. Kagome had actually had a better reason for wanting to stay in her time then tests; She long since realized there was no way she would pass the year, and should probably drop out (she only wanted to stay for the remainder of the school year before dropping out), but this was the first time she had looked at in that point of view. I never thought of it that way! I've been so selfish; worrying about my own problems, when Miroku's dyeing!

"I'm sorry Inu-Yasha; I've been so selfish," She said" I'll get my stuff. "Inu-Yasha was so speechless he nearly forgot that she was coming, and was surprised when she turned up with her black hole that she called a bag, and was still in a stupor when they climbed out of the well, that is until Shippou could someone tell me if I misspell any names, or things. started gnawing on his ear for taking to long, and not listening to him. They had then decided, very reluctantly so from Inu-Yasha, that they would be leaving in the morning.

It had been a long and dreary day; mainly, because it was raining and Kagome couldn't peddle in the rain. When they had seen that it was going to rain before they left, it was agreed that Shippou would stay with Kaede. They had managed to find a relatively dry cave to stay in, and when the rain cleared, because of how muddy they were, the girls decided to take a bath, and Inu-Yasha was given the task of watching Miroku, to keep him from sneaking up to peak on the girls. Inu-Yasha had been wanting to speak to Miroku alone for a while, but since either Sango, Kagome, or Shippou had always been there, Inu-Yasha couldn't find time, alone, to speak with him.

"Get back here Miroku, I want to talk." Inu-Yasha said

"YOU want to talk. There's a first, what do you want to talk about?" asked Miroku.

"Kagome. At first I thought that it was just my imagination, but every time Kagome comes back she's stronger than when she was last here."

"And you can tell this how Inu-Yasha?"

He replied "I can feel it in her muscles when I carry her."

"Well, she does fight demons allot, I would think she would be stronger after coming here for so long, Inu-Yasha."

"NO, stupid, I mean she feels stronger when she comes back, like she's been training in her time to get stronger. What do you think Miroku?"

"I doesn't sound like Kagome to do something like that, especially and not tell anyone; I could try to ask Sango about it, she'll probably know" Miroku replied.

Kagome and Sango had stripped and were soaking the hot spring enjoying themselves while the boys were left grumbling (or so they thought) back at the cave. Kagome had turned around to get some shampoo, when Sango saw something that nearly made her scream.

"KAGOME, YOU HAVE A TAIL!!!" exclaimed Sango. once said Kagome dropped the shampoo, turned around, covering her backside, and exclaimed,

"TAIL!! You m-must be s-seeing th-things Sango!! A tail, that's ridicules. You know I don't have a TAIL!!! I'm not a demon, I'm perfectly human, you know that!! Inu-Yasha would have said so if I didn't smell human!! I can assure you tha-"

"KAGOME, stop babbling, and I can clearly see your tail! Mind explaining yourself?

"O.K., but only if you SWEAR not to tell ANYONE! O.K.?"

"All right, well this story really begins with my father Ryu ....

* planet Vegita, 52 years in past from the present time *

"You called for me Father?" asked a 6 year old prince Vegita.

"Yes, I called in concern of your brother, Ryu. We will soon be sending him away to another planet, and I must remind you, You are not to mention him around Freiza or his men is that understood Vegita?!"

"Yes Father, but why is he being sent away secretly? I am the heir to your thrown Father! It should be me you send away for protection, not Ryu! Why am I, your true heir to stay and take orders from Freiza?! Why shou-"

"Vegita! We already discussed this! Freiza knows about you, if you disappear, and your brother, whom I may remind you, no one knows about were appear, seemingly from nowhere, it will lead to confusion. Most likely Frieza would hunt you down, and kill you! If you do not survive, which I'm sure you will, Ryu will become my heir so he must be protected, while he is still not known of!" therefore Ryu was sent to another planet, that had the same name of another planet, to grow up and live safe from the wrath of Freiza, and one day learned of his heritage, denounced it, married and had 2 children, before dyeing in a plane crash.

* feudal era Japan *

"Soo, is that why you have a tail?" Sango asked

"Yep, pretty much." Answered Kagome

"So how come I never noticed it before?" Asked Sango

"Because, I cut it off. it doesn't hurt that much sango. although it does make you stronger, it's to noticeable." Kagome answered

"well how about you don't cut it off, and just hide it. it could be useful if it makes you stronger." Said Sango

"I suppose so, but let's get out, I'm getting pruned." Said Kagome.

"Right!"
