Last Chapter: Kagura's heart was ripped as a punishment for her betrayal to Naraku; Sesshomaru & Inuyasha find Kagura injured and she warns them of Kagome's fate. Naraku leaves Kagura to die and heads off to an unknown location

 

 

Naraku's trap

 

“We need to go back for Kagura”

“We do not”

“She deserves to see Kagome again”

`She betrayed her”

“She was forced to and she is slowly dying to repay her”

Sesshomaru remained silent.

“I'm going back” Inuyasha raced off to Kagura's side.

Sesshomaru slowed down to a walk but didn't stop.

`Foolish Hanyou, all this maybe a trap'

Kagura heard rustles from the forest and pulled out her fan. “Whose there?”

“Me” Inuyasha revealed himself

“Why?”

“You are dying for Kagome; I am taking you to see her”

“No need, I've already said goodbye”

“She'll want to thank you”

“I don't need thanks, I owe her”

 

Inuyasha picked her up & lugged her over his shoulder. “You're going & it's final”

`Damn you Naraku, I feel sick' She was holding her belly. IT was near impossible to walk and she was very exhausted.

 

`Tired?'

`Yes'

`All that can be fixed'

`How?'

`Give me control of your body

`Why would I do that?'

`Because it can make the pain go away'

`That'd be nice but no'

“Tell me of that day”

“What day?”

“The day you & Kagome left”

“I slipped a pill into her drink, something to make her drowsy. IT was her easier to control. I slipped her out of the gate & we flew off on my feather”

“How did you get the dagger off?” Inuyasha asked.

“She removed it”

“When you arrived at the castle?”

“Naraku greeted her & I took her to his personal bedroom”

“Did he…”

“No, he gave her some time alone”

“What happened?”

“I don't know, somehow she angered him & he raped her”

Inuyasha's face visibly paled, even after all this time it still affected him.

“Then what happened?” Sesshomaru wasn't threw yet.

“He took her limp lifeless body from the lair and dropped her off”

 

After the long walk, they stopped for awhile to see if Kagura would be ok. Inuyasha went off to find some food and water so Sesshomaru was left to watch Kagura.

 

“Lord Sesshomaru? I am sorry, that I betrayed you and your family. I loved working for you, it pained me to leave. If I could go back I would” She whispered, not caring how weak it made her sound. Did you hear me?”

 

“This Sesshomaru heard you”

 

“I don't expect you to react to this at all”

 

“IT was not accepted, nor was what you did anywhere acceptable”

 

“We should get moving if we want to make it to Kagome in time” Inuyasha said.

 

“I will not live to see her, tell her that I am deeply sorry”

 

“What? You'll live”

 

“No, I will not; Promise me you'll tell her”

 

“I will Kagura, I promise”

 

“Good now, I can die in peace” She fell quiet over his shoulder.

 

“She died… on my shoulder”

 

“Drop her here”

 

“No”

 

“We need to get back to our mate”

 

“Kagura just died on my shoulder”

 

“She is no longer alive, no need to keep her”

 

“We should bury her”

 

*Silence*

 

 

Sesshomaru kept his mouth closed his face in the usual masked expression and he kept walking at a steady pace.

`I am in so much pain'

`I can help you'

`I don't want to give you control'

`I can't help you if you don't'

 

“Lady Kagome, Naraku has been spotted” Jaken squealed.

“Where?”

“The Northern Lands”

“How long ago?”

“An hour”

“Good job, you're dismissed”

 

`Are you in the Northern Lands?'

`No'

`Then why have you been spotted?'

`Why?'

`Kagura, you were a loyal worker, a good friend, a worthy opponent' He put a flower over her grave. Then he sprinted off to Sesshomaru's, the both of them disappointed not to find Naraku.

“No, thanks please the pups to a safer area in the castle”

She freed her mind of worry or doubt, steadily breathing at a normal rate and let herself go into a sleep like state.
