Kagome's Thanksgiving By Mija

A/N~I know full well that Thanksgiving is not celebrated in any other country but America, but I thought it would be nice to bring a little of it the the Inu Gang. Hope you like. Huggles Mija..ps this is also for the Thansgiving challenge posted up on Challenge Central. Forgot who the challenger was..sowwy..:-)..and sorry its a one shot and no lemons..just a bunch of fluff..lol

~~~Kagome had spent all of yesterday planning and cooking and getting things ready. She usually spent this day with her friend Ayumi since her family was the only one who celebrated this holiday. Ayumi's father was American so, one of the things he did was celebrate some of the holidays from his home with his family here in Toyko. Ayumi had invited Kagome to her family's thanksgiving feast a few years ago and shed been going to it every year since then. For Kagome she thought the whole concept was sweet and loved doing it and thought that this year she would bring it to Inuyasha and the others in the Fuedal Era. They rarely had time for anything fun and peacefull and after all they had been through Kagome felt that they had alot to be thankfull for. So when Ayumi's dad had sent out his usual order of a turkey to be shipped to him from the states, she had asked him to get her one as well since she wanted to share this holiday with some friends from 'out of town'. Ayumi had been sad to hear Kagome wouldnt be sharing Thanksgiving with them this year but she understood and was happy to know that Kagome was sharing the tradition with others.

~~~So after staying up all night and all afternnoon on preparing the Turkey and other goodies. She dressed up in a traditional Kimon her mom had gotten for her, packed all ther things in a three very large boxes she began her trek through the well. It took her 3 trips to get all the stuff to the other side but she had finally done it and now she stood at the lip of the well trying to hoist the last of the boxes up. Inuyasha grabbed the box from her hand and hefted it up with ease and looked down at Kagome with a frown.

"Why the hell didnt you just let me go with ya and get all this stuff for ya?" he growled, grabbing her hand and helping her out of the well. He had helped her the first time threw the well but was told to grab the box before she leapt back down to go get the others.

"Because I was already down here..besides I needed you to lift the boxes up out of the well when I came through..is everything ready at Kaede's?" she asked as she dusted any lingering dirt on her nicely wrinkle free green Kimono which had beautifull pink Sakura blossoms all over it.

"Feh..dont know why the hell we are celebrating this..this thanks for giving thing of yours." he replied with a growl. He turned away from her with his nose in the air and his hands in the sleeves of his Haori<sp?>. He wouldnt admit it to anyone in the world but seeing Kagome in that Kimono made him want what he couldnt have. Her. She was soo beautifull in it. The very sight of her took his breath away.

"I'll take that as a yes then." she giggled as she picked up one of the boxes...Inuyasha arent you going to help me get these things to Kaede's?" she asked when his back was still to her.

"Feh." was all he said as he grabbed the last two boxes and lifted them with ease under each arm. Kagome looked at his retreated back and stug her tongue out. He could be soo annoying at times she thought, then smiles when she thought that he could also be the sweetest person she knew, when he wanted to be. Thats one of the things she loved about him.

~~~Taking the box she carried she caught up to Inuyasha, who had been going at a slow pace for her to catch up to him. She smiled at the gesture but didnt say anything. The box she carried weighed at least twenty pounds and she knew that one of the ones Inuyasha carried weighed that much as well since it held the huge turkey she had slaved over all morning. They got to Kaede's and Inuyasha took the boxes into the hut and then left till he was needed. Miroku was outside as well with Shippo playing with the village kids. The woman had told them to go outside and wait till they were called to join them. Kagome had wanted things to be perfect.

~~~Inside the hut Sango and Kaede smiled at her when she came in, as they continued to prepare the table and some dishes of food that they had been making all morining. Since Kagome had explained what this Thanksgiving was, they had taken a fast liking to it. Kagome had explained how the tradition started in America, but quickly told them that it had evolved alot since then. From what she had been told, families now celebrated the holiday with food and talk as they all thanked thier Gods for the many abundant blessings that year, wether great or small, every blessing was remembered and thankfull for. They also thanked each other for the little things they did that made thier lives compleate. After that Sango and Kaede had gotten intot he spirit of it. For them they thought it nice to be able to have a large feast with them all gathered and just be thankfull that they were alive and together. In these times it was not so easy to be thankfull for much, but they did have each other, and that they were thankfull for.

~~~Inuyasha was getting impatient as the hours passed. He was hungry. It was close to dinner time and the smell of all those wondefull dishes inside the hut were driving him nuts. He didnt care why they were celebrating, all he knew was that the celebration involved food, lots of it and he liked that part alot. Plus he had smelled some very odd but intincing smells from the boxes Kagome had bought from her time. They were not smells he was familiar with but they made his stomache growl. Soon Sango was at the door and told them it was time to come in. With a Keh Inuyasha followed Miroku and Shippo into the hut.

~~~Miroku and Inuyasha just sort of dropped thier mouth open as they stood in the entrance of the hut and started at the large table in front of them. Miroku and Inuyasha had put it together for Kaede that morning so it wasnt the size of the table but the stuff on it. The entire surface was practically briming with food. All kinds of food. Some they had never seen before, or couldnt quite place. Either way it was alot of food and thier stomaches did a little growl of approval which earned them giggles fromt he girls and a smile from Kaede. They sat themselves around the table, the the head sad Inuyasha with Kagome to his left and Sango to his right, next to Sango sat Miroku, and next to Kagome sat Shippo and at the other end of the table sad Kaede. In the center of the table near Inuyasha was the main course, or as Kagome put it the most important part of Thangsgiving dinners a Turkey. Inuyasha just looked at it and thought whats so special about it? Its a big bird, nothing to get all excited about.

"Before we eat its sort of custome for everyone around the table to say what they are thankfull for..so I will start.." Kagome explained, with a bright smile.

"First of all I am thankfull that we are all here together and that everyone here is healthy and safe..I want to thank Kaede for welcoming me into her home and taking me under her wing the day I first came to the well..since then she has been my friend, my teacher and a second mom to me whom I cherish with all my heart..if it wasnt for Kaede I dont know how well I could of handled that first night here." she said as she looked at Kaede with a warm tender smile, which Kaede returned full heartedly.

"Then theres Sango Miroku and Shippo..Sango the older sister I never had and love dearly, you have been there for me on soo many occasions that Im really really gratefull to you for being there for me Sango...you may not be my sister in blood but you are my sister in spirit and I will always thank the Gods for bringing you into my life...And Miroku..well what can I say? You are a leach and a pervert but you are one of the best friends Ive ever had..you like a brother and mentor all roled up into one..youve been the voice of reason on many occasions that have saved us all from dying..your always the one to bring peace and reason to our group, when we begin to forget our selves, without you I dont think we would of stayed together this long, and for that I am truelly gratefull for..again I am glad that Kami bought you into my life..I cant imagine never not knowing you..and Shippo..my little kit..you of course have bought laughter and sunshine into my life..when things get hard and life doesnt seem to be going well you make me smile and laugh..your innocense and your heart make the darkness go away and brighten my life, you show me the child within my self and help me to bring it out when I need to remember how to live and laugh for that Im and ever so thankfull for..and I cant begin to phathom what my life would be like with out you Shippo..I thank Kami everyday for bringing you into my life as well..cause I dont think I could live without ever having known you." Kagome expressed with all her heart as she looked at her friends that were beaming with happiness and in Sango's case a few happy tears. Shippo was all puffed up and looking very proud and happy with himself which made kagome giggle and ruffle the top of his head.

"And to the one I owe the most thanks to...youve protected me since day one..youve been the leader and the strength of our group..without you Inuyasha I have no doubt we would of been seriously hurt or even killed...youve put yourself into mortal danger to keep us safe..you risk you life everyday to make sure were are safe..you are our strength..our anchor..you keep us going and give us the boost we need to go on when all looks hopeless..when I first saw you so long ago pinned to that tree..I had no idea my life would be turned upside down and changed forever..and even though we fight and have our bad days I know that I can trust you with my life..you are the most stubborn pig headed man I know..but without you I wouldnt be here now with all of the most important people in my life..cause of you I am here and I have met the most wondefull people in my life..And I want to thank you Inuyasha..I thank you for being there when I need you and even when I dont your always there..protecting me..chasing away the sadness and the dark..your the light that guides me threw this world and without you in my life I dont think I would be able to go on..your my best friend Inuyasha." Kagome finished with tears in her own eyes and she looked down, affraid to look at him. Then she felt it. His hand on hers and she looked up. He was blushing but his eyes held a brightness she had never seen before.

"And your my best friend kagome...Im not good at all this talking and stuff so I'll just get this over with by saying that if it hadnt been for you I'd still be tacked up to that tree..I would of never gotten to meet any of you..you guys dont seem to care that im half demon or half human and Ive never known that in my life..you guys accept me..and I will always be thankfull for that..no ones ever shown me the kindess you guys have..you guys are like family to me and I dont think I will ever forget the way it feels to belong to something like that..soo thanks." Inuyasha replied with a gruff snort at the end, which made everyone smile. They knew it was hard for Inuyasha to show any emotions let alone speak them, and what he had revealed to them just now was more than any of them could have ever hoped for.

~~After that Miroku added his own thanks, pretty much saying all that Kagome had, that he was thankfull for his new friends and thankfull to be alive and well, with people he cared about and cared about him. Sango too added her own thoughts and they mirrored everyone elses. Then Kaede added her own as did Shippo. After that there was lots of laughter and talking as they dug into the huge meal before them. shippo was in heaven when he got to eat his first taste of candied yams and cranberry sauce..but he almost had a suger melt down when he tasted the pumpkin, cherry and apple pies Kagome had bought with whiped cream on top. Soon eveyone was ful and felt awfully sleepy. Kagome giggles as she and Sango helped Kaede clean up as the guys went out side to stretch out. Kaede took alot of the left over food to the many villagers who thanked her for the food. Then after all was done they settled in for the night. To full and too tired to do anything but sleep.

~~~As usual Inuyasha went to sleep in the forest. As he sat in the tree he went over that nights events. His heart still raced at Kagome's words and then at the others. They had all thanked him for various things, saving thier lives, taking them in when he didnt have to. Sango had thanked him for stopping her from killing Kohaku that time, and for forgiving her even after she had tried to kill him for Naraku. Miroku too had thanked him for taking him on thier journeys, even after he had kidnapped Kagome and stolen her shards then had tried to kill him. The same had went for Shippo, who had cried as he told them how happy he was to have a family and how glad he had been when he had met him and Kagome after the Thunder Brothers had killed his dad. If it hadnt been for Kagome and Inuyasha he had said, then he would of been left alone in the world and most likely dead. Kaede had praised the man he was now, so diffrent from the one she had known as a child. She had told him that he had matured, he had changed into a fine young man who she considered a son. At all the mushy stuff Inuyasha had been ready to bolt for the door, till he felt Kagome's hand in his underneatht he table. She had wrapped her slender fingers around his larger ones and held him tight.

~~~Inuyasha had looked at Kagome then and saw that she knew he wanted to flee. But her eyes had begged him to stay. So he had. Then just before he had left the village and she turned in for the night she had come to him and smiled.

"Thank you Inuyasha..thank you for staying and letting me share this day with the most important person in my life..you..goodnight Inuyasha." she had said as she kissed his cheek chastly and went into Kaede's hut. Inuyasha had turned several shades of red as he fehed and sped into the forest. Now in the tree he finally spoke the words he had wanted to say to her so badly but hadnt dared.

"Thank you Kagome...without you in my life I wouldnt be here now..everyone kept thanking ME for being the one to hold us all together..but its not me that holds this group together..its YOU Kagome..your the one who bought us together and the one who keeps us as a pack...its that huge heart of yours that binds us all as one..without you I wouldnt be who I am now..Sango would probably be dead now and so would Shippo..you saved them..you healed them and made us whole..as for Miroku?? hed probably still be the same..grouping women and getting slapped for asking them to bear his kids..but because of you I think hes become wiser..he dont groupe as much and when he does its usually Sango.." he chuckled at that. He felt wierd talking to thin air, but his heart needed to release the things he needed to say, if only to the air.

"But most of all Kagome...you saved me..you not only unpinned me from the Gods Tree but you made me the person everone sees now..you gave me a second chance at life..your the one who taught me how to love again..how to trust again..you bought a family to me again, a family who accepts me and cares for me..Because of YOU Kagome..I have a life I am proud of for the first time in my life..I have a future now..and one I look foward to..as long as your there by my side..with you there I can do anything....So Thank YOU Kagome..and Thank Kami for giving you to me..I know I wouldnt be able to live at all if you werent in my life..so never leave me Kagome..never leave me." he whispered the last words as he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. He had been so absorbed in his thoughts and words he hadnt sensed or smelt the presence below him.

"I will never leave you Inuyasha..I promise." replied Kagome in a whisper as she snuck away from the tree Inuyasha slept in and back to the village. She had come out to speak to him about going back home tomorrow, when she had heard him talking to himself. She hadnt meant to eaves drop but couldnt help it when he said her name. That night Kagome said an extra long prayer and thanked Kami for this day and most of all for Inuyasha. Before she drifted off to sleep she thought..This is the best Thanksgiving shes ever had, it was the best DAY shes ever had. She fell asleep with a huge smile on her face and dreams of all of her best friends. Her family. Happy Thanksgiving you guys. She mumbled in her sleep rolling over to her side with the smile still plastered on her face.

A/N~ok guys please dont kill me..know it could of been better an all but I just couldnt think of any real believable story to bring Thanksgiving to them.
