Kagome's Will
Chapter 1
Willing to Survive
Kagome screamed in pain as she tried in vain to protect her stomach from the seemingly endless blows.
“I told you Kagome, you've dishonored us. Your family, our name! Now you will be punished.”
Kagome looked up at her father as he picked her up by the collar of her shirt.
“Please, daddy, don't do this.” She pleaded tearfully.
This only seemed to enrage him further. Kagome looked at her father. She knew by the look on his face that he wasn't going to stop until that she had been dealt proper punishment. Until he either succeeded in killing the life that desperately kicked inside her or until he killed her. Her mind became blank as she struggled to breathe. The pain from the blows to her ribs was so intense. She was willing, willing to let the darkness overcome her, until the life within her stirred again.
`I have to get away!' she thought as the tears poured down her bloody swollen cheeks.
`I won't let him kill my baby! He'll have to kill me first!' She felt herself being raised up
again, this time by her hair. Then a hard blow landed on her face and she felt herself fly into something hard only to have it break on impact. She groaned painfully as she curled herself into a ball, clutching her stomach.
`I won't last much longer, I have to get away.' As she struggled for consciousness, she felt the mark on her neck pulsate, as if it were calling to someone. She reached up and touched it, somehow it she felt stronger when she pulled her hand away. Although her eyes were closed, she could hear every move he made. She heard him start walking towards her and then stop. Breathing heavily, she waited for a blow of some kind. A blow, that never came. Instead, she felt his fingers brush her hair from her face. She tensed as his fingers slowly ran through her matted and bloody raven locks.
“Serves you right, you whore.” He said quietly. “No daughter of mine agrees to `mate' with anyone without my approval and consent. Not unless you are married first and sure as hell not unless your `mate' was of human descent.” She remained motionless as he continued to run his fingers through her hair. She could feel his eyes bore into her, as she tried to keep from sobbing out loud.
“You don't deserve to live you know. But don't worry, I'll end your pain.” With that he picked her up gently and walked upstairs to her bedroom and laid her on her bed. He then leaned over and kissed her bloody forehead gently.
“Don't worry, the pain will be brief. I promise.” He said as he raised up. She whimpered at that. Her body trembled in pain and in fear. She saw the look on her fathers face as he
turned from her. She watched him walk out the door and close it behind him. Though her heart beat furiously in her ears, she listened until she was sure he was downstairs.
`I have to get up. I have to lock the door.' Kagome tried to sit up as she did, she was met with a sharp pain in her head. Doing her best to ignore the pain, she slowly swung her legs over the side of her bed and tried to stand. As she put her full weight on her legs, her knees gave out from under her and she collapsed in a heap. She groaned as the pain only seemed to get worse. Using her bed to get up, she managed to stand, as sweat beaded her badly bruised and cut face. She managed to get to the door and lock it. Not satisfied with the doors small lock, she looked around for something to barricade the door. She decided that her nightstand would have to do, as she was too weak to move anything else. After the nightstand was in place, she moved quickly to her desk and picked up her cordless phone. She listened for a minute for her father downstairs. She could still hear him down in the kitchen, looking through the drawers for something. She then quickly looked for a place to hide. She went to the window, hoping to climb out. She found it locked. She then headed for her closet. She became dizzy. She dropped to her knees and crawled to her closet and as soon as she was in her closet closed the door. She took a quick look at herself with the little light that crept through the doors. She was bleeding badly, and from the pain she could tell she had a few broken bones. This was the worst beating that she had received, his anger was different. She had fought before, but then she had something to live for. It had been such a long time that she had forgotten what his fists felt like. Now, she had to fight to live, not for herself, but for her baby.
`I got to find a way out of here. I don't have much strength left. I won't be able to fight much longer.'
She quickly dialed a number and held her stomach as she waited for the someone to answer
Sango got up from the table and walked into the kitchen. She looked back at the four who were studying. She couldn't help but smile at the determined look they all had.
“Do you guys want a soda or anything?”
She watched as the four heads at the table all popped up.
“I'll take a soda, please.” Rin said with a smile.
“Yeah, me too, sis.” Kohaku said as he looked back at his books.
“Can I have one too?” Shippo asked.
“I'd like one as well please, Sango.” Miroku grinned.
She sighed as she poured the soda into the cups along with the ice.
`I wonder if Kagome will call tonight.' Sango thought as she poured some chips into a bowl. `Her father was due back tonight, I hope she's okay.'
Sango loaded the chips and soda on a tray and walked into the dining room. No sooner than she finished passing everything out the phone rang. She sighed again, but quickly made her way to the phone in the kitchen.
“Hello?”
“Sango.” Kagome whispered tearfully.
“Kagome? What's wrong?” Sango turned around to face the dining room and was met with a worried expression from her boyfriend.
“Sango, he's going to kill us! He's going to kill the baby!”
“Kagome, where are you?”
“I've locked myself in my room. I'm in my closet.”
“Ok, we'll be right over and we'll bring help.”
“Please Sango, hurr-.”
“KAGOME!!”
Sango heard Kagome's father enraged scream. She tried to get her friends attention.
“Kagome! Stay hidden, don't-.” Before she could finish she heard a loud crash and a heart-piercing scream as the doors to her friends hiding place were ripped from their hinges.
“NO! PLEASE! DADDY, NOOO!”
Sango's heart stopped as the line went dead.
