Kagome's Will

Chapter Nineteen
Final Battle For Kagome

InuYasha opened his as he heard his son's cry. As he sat up he realized that he wasn't in the hospital bed anymore. Instead he was in the middle of a field, surrounded by a forest.

`This must be Kagome's mind.' He smiled. `She's peaceful on the outside because she's peaceful on the inside. Well, unless I'm around.' He frowned. Where is she? If this is her mind then why isn't she here? Suddenly, Kikyo's words came back to him

`I saw his hear as I left her mind. He planned on taking her against her will. She may have purified the jewel to ensnare him with in it. Or he may have taken her, which would result in her child's death.'

“Keitaro.” InuYasha began to frantically locate the direction of his son's crying. When he did, he took off in that direction. Reaching the infant, InuYasha found him cradled against his mother's chest. The sight of her made him want to cry. She was leaning against the lip of an old well; she was so pale, so thin and very still.

“Kagome?” He reached out and picked their son as he sat down. He then lifted her up and laid her in his lap. “Come on Kags.” He pleaded. “Wake up.”

“InuYasha?” InuYasha looked up. That voice, he knew that voice.

“Naraku. What have you done to her?”

“I've done nothing, she purified my energy causing her own demise. She would have died, except.”

“Except what?” InuYasha asked angrily.

“Except, before I could mark her, you re-marked her. Thus, her lifeline was regained. Now, she will remain her forever. Thus, I can do as I please here.”

“Over my dead body.”

“Yes, tell me how is it that you are here?”

“My blood runs through her veins. It will give her back her life source.”

“No. It will only prolong her suffering her with me.”

“What?”

“With your blood running in her veins, she will only continue to protect her son.”

“No, I will not leave her here. I will protect her from you.”

“You couldn't protect her from me before, what makes you think that you can protect her now? Here in her mind, I am a never-ending nightmare that is all too real. I can make her worst fears come true here. Thus, breaking her will, making her want to die. Enslaving her is the hardest challenge I've had yet. I tried to take her, but she tried to purify the jewel. She fail as she was running off of my strength.”

“Yet, you didn't take her because she was already marked.”

“No. I removed her mark physically and mentally. I haven't taken her, because some one has put up a barrier around her. I can't touch her.”

“Sorry to disappoint you Naraku, that barrier belongs to me.”

“No, it belongs to some one else, some one who's life means more to her than anyone else.”

`Keitaro.' InuYasha thought to himself. He was a half demon, Kagome was a generational priestess; their child was bound to have certain strengths.

“Keitaro? Ah, her son. Tell me, I heard his cries earlier, where is he?”

“Fuck you. You will never touch Kagome or Keitaro again. I won't let you take my family from me. They are all I want in this life, now that I know your fucking plot I will destroy you.”

“Remember InuYasha, unless you destroy me both physically and mentally I will come back.”

“That won't be a problem. I will kill you here and out there.”
“The problem is InuYasha. If you die here, you die out there as well. As does Kagome and Keitaro.”

“I guarantee I won't be the one to die in this fight.”

“Very well.”

InuYasha watched as Naraku's dark figure became on that was clad in a baboon pelt. InuYasha also felt his own clothing change. He looked down and found his old Fire Rat Kimono clothing.
`This is Kagome's mind. I will prevail, she won't let him win.'

“This may be her mind InuYasha, but right now I have absolute control of it.”

“Sorry, that isn't possible. Kagome is way too strong for you to have that kind of control.” As he spoke his mark reappeared and began to pulsate. He looked at Naraku and drew the sword that had appeared at his side. Naraku seemed surprised by this, InuYasha saw him losing his control.

“What is this?”

“I told you, Kagome is to strong to be controlled by the likes of you.” Naraku growled and lunged at him.

-*-*-*-*-

Sesshomaru watched his brother as his eye's danced beneath his eyelids. Sesshomaru knew when he had found Kagome and when he had met what had kept her there. Thus, he removed Keitaro from his mother's chest, causing the infant to scream. Sesshomaru just sat there holding him. Knowing that Keitaro's cries would be the key to releasing his parents.

InuYasha's watched as Naraku sent out one weak demon after another. He easily dodged each attack and sliced through others. Naraku lunged at InuYasha as his strength began to weaken, taking InuYasha by surprise he sliced open his stomach. Suddenly, both of them heard a scream.

“INUYASHA!” This caused InuYasha to look for Kagome, as he saw her Naraku's sent one of his tentacles through InuYasha's stomach and threw him back. He landed next to the girl he had longed to see alive.

“InuYasha what are you doing here?” she cried. He said nothing as he took her into his arms.

“I made the wrong choice Kags. Now I'm here to fix and fight to get you back.” With that he kissed her passionately. As they pulled away, they heard Naraku growl.

“I will not let you win, InuYasha. Kagome belongs to me!

“I belong to no one save those whom I give myself to!”

“Do you want to live with this two-timing half breed? He who freely fucks any bitch that lays down with him?”

“Stop, he isn't like that! I know better Naraku!”

“Oh? Then why is it that you took off the talisman?”

“I was tired, I didn't remember to put it back on.”

“Had your child died, it would've been your fault.”

“No!”

“Kagome, stand back!” InuYasha ordered. He looked at her one last time and smiled. Then lunged for Naraku.

Kagome looked down at her hands. `I need something. I need to help InuYasha fight, this is my battle after all!' Suddenly a bow and a quiver of arrows appeared in her empty hands. She smiled.

“INUYASHA!” InuYasha, who was facing Kagome, glanced at her. Knowing what to do, he taunted Naraku.

“Come on Naraku, is that all you got?” Naraku growled angrily.

“InuYasha, you will die today. Feel my wrath!” With that, Naraku lunged at InuYasha. He kept attacking until InuYasha was directly in front of Kagome.

“Know this Kagome! If I can't have you, you will die!” with that gathered up his energy and launched the attack. This is what InuYasha had been waiting for. He lunged for towards Naraku's attack, swung his sword high and screamed `BAKRUYUHA!” At the same time, he heard Kagome's arrow whiz past him and flow with his attack. The two attacks hit Naraku's attack dead on. InuYasha held Kagome as they watched Naraku fall. As the attack faded, the two were surprised to see Naraku still standing.

“InuYasha, remember my words. I will return.” With that he fell. InuYasha said nothing as he released Kagome from his hold and walked toward the fallen dream-world nemesis.

Once he was close enough to Naraku, he swung his great sword at him, slicing off Naraku's head.

“It may not be over out there, but I told you I wouldn't loose here. I won't loose out there either.” He turned and looked at Kagome. She fell to her knees as he walked closer.

“Kagome.”

“InuYasha, I'm so sorry.”

“For what Kags?”

“Letting you go.”

“You never lost me Kags.”

“No, but I don't deserve you. You'd be better off with Kikyo.” InuYasha became angry.

“WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN KAGS? I JUST FOUGHT FOR YOUR LIFE AND NOW YOU WANT ME TO LEAVE? LIKE HELL!”

“InuYasha, the baby, I didn't tell you about him.”

Feeling better he knelt before the sobbing girl. “Look Kags, Keitaro is just as much mine as he is yours. He was the reason I came here. You and Keitaro are all I've ever wanted. There is no way I'm going to loose you. Keitaro and I need you way too much. Besides, I'm free to love you anyway.

“Kikyo told you?”

“You knew?”

“She helped me a while back. She told me of her problems. Back then I thought I was going to die. So, I asked her to take care of our son and of you.”

“Kags.”

“But she told me no. That I had to survive to take care of him; that I had to live to take care of you.”

“She was right.”

“What?”

“Kags, you purified your blood before you allowed yourself to die. You saved my life, all the while protecting Keitaro.”

“Keitaro?”

“Yeah, well. Keitaro Toshi.”

“Toshi?”

“Sorry, Rin's idea. He looks just like me, and well he is my blessing. He was the reason I learned about you. He was also the reason I found you here.”

“Keitaro, will he live?”

“Are you kidding? That kid has my blood flowing through his veins, he made it through a moonless night, he'll make it through anything.” Kagome smiled.

“Thank you InuYasha.” With that she kissed him passionately and he returned the favor. The two broke away when they heard Keitaro's crying.

“Keitaro.” Kagome whispered.

“Come on Kags. He's got to meet his momma sometime. Besides, I don't think he likes bottles.”

“How do we get out of here?”

“Follow his cries.” The two walked hand in hand as they followed the baby's cries. The followed it to the old well, and looked inside.

“After you Kags.”

“What?”

“Just kidding.” He said with a chuckle as he picked her up bridal style and jumped in. He felt them become separated as the two fell into their own. InuYasha opened his eyes and sat up. The transfusion had ended and they were alone in the room. InuYasha looked around as he sat up, suddenly remembering what he had dreamed. He then looked over at Kagome. She still remained still. He then noticed that Keitaro was asleep in his mother's arms. Knowing then that she was all right, InuYasha sat in a chair by her bed and laid his head next to her hand. He held her hand and gently rubbed it. It startled him when she squeezed his hand. He looked up at her, tears flowing from her eyes as she gazed at him lovingly.

“Kagome?”

“Thank you InuYasha.” She said tearfully. Her voice was weak, but her will was strong. He watched as her gaze shifted from his to that of their son's. Who was wide-awake looking at his mother?

“Well hello their Keitaro. I'm your mommy.” She said with a gentle smile. InuYasha watched as the child smiled back at her. The smile faded the child began to look around for her breast. When he found it Kagome frowned.

“I don't think I have any milk for him.”

“Don't worry Kags. He'll live with bottles until it comes in.”

“InuYasha I-.” She was interrupted as the door swung open and the faces of her friends and family came into view. InuYasha quickly place a blanket over their nursing son.

“HEY! Don't you guys know how to knock?”

“KAGOME!” They all screamed in unison.

“Kagome, you're alright!” Sango said crying.

“Sango!” Kagome began to cry as her friend held her.

“SANGO! Be careful!”

“InuYasha's right, she was badly hurt. Her wounds may not have healed yet.” Miroku said in a matter-of-fact tone.

“Feh, as if. She has my blood in her veins. The only thing she has left is a couple scars; they'll be gone before long. She has the baby in her arms!”
