Chapter Three - The Solemn Reunion

Step after step after step. Inu-Yasha, ahead of the bunch, walked with his arms in his sleeves. Concentrated on the movement of the group and how far they had before reaching the village. Miroku was walking beside Kesso-Ryu with a hand on Sango's shoulder. It slowly moved down her back until it almost reached too far. She slapped Miroku's hand away from her. An angered but mostly annoyed look lingered on her face towards Miroku. Miroku rubbed the back of his head and smiled. Kagome concentrated her eyes in the forest until she noticed a small glow of a blood red shade. She stopped and everyone stopped with her and glanced in her direction.

"What is it, Kagome? We don't have time to squander for you," Complained Inu-Yasha.

"I'm not squandering, Inu-Yasha. I think I see something," Kagome protested as she walked to the glow. Kagome looked closer and noticed an object that resembled an egg shape. More oval than egg though. Without the blood red aura, it would appear to be a normal stone. The stone had an evil aura that anyone could sense emitting from it. Kagome picked it up and gazed into its wonders. Miroku stepped next to Kagome and examined it.

"It gives me a shiver somehow. I cannot point it out exactly but it makes me feel a little uneasy," Miroku explained. "However it does emit a sense of power to it. It might be useful."

"Hmm…it smells….familiar somehow but I have never seen it before," Kesso-Ryu pointed out with a questioned look placed upon his face. The group continued to walk towards Keade's village. They must waste no more time for Sango's wounds. It is lucky though that she is still well enough to defend herself from Miroku.

They reach an opening to the forest. It is their destination, their village. Keade was outside helping the people as her head turned to the group and her eyes widen a little at the sight of the new comer. His wings stuck him out quite well.

The inside of the house was dark but Kesso-Ryu seemed to match to it quite nicely. Sango's body was covered in bandages and they sat in a circle around their meals. Kagome told Keade everything that happened. "Kesso-Ryu, your name is?" He looked to her and nodded. "Do you have any idea what this stone you found is?" the old priestess spoke.

"I do not know, lady Keade. I haven't the slightest idea besides that it smells familiar. The smell is faint and I haven't smelled one like it in a very long time," Kesso-Ryu replied. Keade nodded and inspected the stone once more before handing it back to Kagome.

A few days passed, Inu-Yasha hunting for any rumors of the shards. Shippo spends his time switching every so often between Kagome's and Miroku's shoulder. Kagome and Miroku helped Keade around the village and to tend to Sango every now and then. Kesso-Ryu decided to make his presence useful by helping the villagers build new houses and other buildings. Many village people came to watch Kesso-Ryu work. The village people were very interested in this individual or maybe just the sight of his wings excited them. One reason or the other, many villagers came to watch.

Sango was now healthy and walking. She stepped outside and stretched herself from days of little movement. The group could once again set out, and just in time too. Inu-Yasha heard strange sightings of demons up north a few miles. They needed to get there quick. Who knows if a demon had slaughtered a village or much worse, find a shard and devour it fully. Kirara jumped around happily until it was time to leave. Kirara quickly transformed larger. Sango and Miroku got on and they rid off with Inu-Yasha and Kagome, being on Inu-Yasha's back. Kesso-Ryu traveled with them, flying through the air with ease.

Time passed quickly as the neared the goal. They stopped almost suddenly. Kagome had sensed shards incoming fast, very fast. Kesso-Ryu landed next to them, he had sensed the incomer. A figure moved in from the forest to where they were. It was Koga. "Oh, it's only Koga," Kagome pointed out.

"What in the hells do you want?" Inu-Yasha asked quite annoyed with the wolf's appearances.

"I could ask you the very same thing," Koga spoke with a squint in his eyes.

"Not that it's any of your business but we heard Demon activity around here. What about you?" Inu-Yasha inquired while staring daggers at Koga.

"Of course you heard of demon activity. It was me," Koga explained.

"What?" Inu-Yasha asked.

"Yes, it was me. I was fighting a much rather annoying demon, trying to steal my stone," Koga confirmed.

"This stone, why is it so important?" Inu-Yasha inquired.

"It enhances my skills. Its looks normal, sort of oval shaped and I stole it from another demon soon before the other demon attacked me," Koga described.

"You mean this?" Kagome asked as she held out the stone.

"What do you think you're doing, Kagome!" Inu-Yasha yelled

"Yes! Give it to me now, I need it!" Koga ordered.

Suddenly a voice appeared from nowhere. "Touch that stone, Koga, and I will take my pleasure in killing you now! It's not as if I wasn't going to anyway for stealing it from me!" the voice hollered into the clearing from the woods.

"Damn! He tracked me," Koga pointed out.

"Yes, I tracked you. I'm quite good at it too. You think that you can escape me?" The voice yelled into the clearing. It was heard from behind Koga. Everyone turned their heads to the opening as a figure jumped into the clearing holding a bow and arrow aimed Koga.

Kesso-Ryu's eyes widened at what he saw. The figure had sky blue hair down to its shoulders. It was a man looking not that much younger from Kesso-Ryu. He had metal armor with shoulder, thigh, and shin guards with spikes. He was equipped with two sword rapiers on each side of his waist that emitted a red glow showing faintly from the sheaths. He also had a quiver on his back and two dog-like ears on his head. Sort of like Inu-Yasha's ears but with slight differences. The ears looked brown-black and they were pointed up. The bow fired but Koga dodged it. "Ha, you missed!" Koga yelled

"Not quite," The man pointed out with a grin. The arrow then pulled a U-turn into Koga's shoulder. The arrowed glowed red and then vanished. Koga's arm sizzled and it began to char and burn. Koga had a hurt expression on his face and knew he couldn't fight with his pain.

"I'll be back to get that stone later!" Koga hollered at the group and jolted into the woods and away, for now.

The man turned to the group and his eyes widened as Kesso-Ryu's did once he saw him. "I know you, and I feel I have for a long time," The man explained.

"Yes, and you too seem familiar. Your smell I remember from my childhood," Kesso-Ryu spoke showing a certain resemblance to the man. "I knew that stone smelled familiar if you were the one who used to own it. I smell…"

"Family," they both spoke at once as huge grins placed themselves on each other's face. They stepped to each other and swung their hands together. Much like good friends would do. Their fingers lined between the other ones index and thumb.

"You are…" Kesso-Ryu spoke.

"…My brother," the Man said.

Kagome couldn't help but smile at their reunion.

"It is nice to see you again brother. I am on my way with these ones to find a way to rid this world of Naraku once and for all. This is Kagome, Sango, Shippo, Miroku, Kirara, and Inu-Yasha" Kesso-Ryu spoke pointing to each one at their name.

"I have heard of them," them man spoke.

"You have?" Kagome asked.

"Who hasn't is more like it, your word has traveled far," The man corrected.

"Everyone, this is my younger brother…Yami-Jackel."

A/N: So what do you think? Yami-Jackel is a Jackel Demon and he has the power to use magic arrows. In this case he used Fire arrows that lock on to his target and do not miss. So please review this chapter. I love to hear what my viewers think.
