"First Meetings"
Swords clashed together and echoes of people cheering filled the large room as two teenagers dueled each other in a fencing match. Being it such a close match, some guys and girls in the crowd did not know who would actually win but when one of the dueling rapiers was thrown against the floor, the match was over. It was quite an intense battle, but in the end… there always had to be a winner.
Kagome stood with her three friends on the balcony and watched the match carefully though it seemed like she was off in another world thinking about a certain hanyou when a crowd errupted with cheer and she focused her attention back on the two teenagers down on the ground level. Both of them took off their headgear and she recognized one of them immediately. The teen was a girl called Sora Asakura, fencing champion four years in a row, just one grade higher than Kagome herself. The other person had taken off their helmet to reveal a boy two years her senior also having a major crush on her. Takashi Shiro. The girl Sora went over to her best friends while they congradulated her on winning the spar.
"Sora-chan, what is this… you're tenth win in a row? You're fantastic~!" One of her friends, Mai, grinned at the two girls and they went off towards the cafeteria for lunch. Sora sat across from the two of them looking out the window in a world of her own when she was snapped back to life when her other friend Yukari demanded an answer from her. " Were you even listening Sora? I asked you a question." Sora looked at her with a small scowl before she answered, " I know what you're question is and no, I don't have one nor do I want one. They make it so much more difficult."
"Yeah, but being with someone can make you feel more special and you don't have to worry about being someone you're not." That just about did it for Sora when she snapped at Yukari, causing heads to turn to their table. "Listen, I never wanted a boyfriend nor do I intend to have one. They are pathetic, they make you're life miserable and its fucking pathetic if any girl is desperate just to get popular~! I wouldn't give a fucking damn anyways!" Sora got up and walked towards her next class in a pissed-off manner leaving her two friends in a state of shock, though one more than the other.
During the last block of the day, Sora couldn't concentrate and was even more pissed when the teacher told the class they had to work with a grade ten class for a project. "Now, this is a chance for you to get to know you're fellow schoolmates in a unique and interesting assignment. Now, the partners are as followed…." The teacher went on with the list of names and some of the students either groaned in desperation or cheered while Sora paid no particular attention to the teacher until she heard "Sora Asakura, you are paired with Kagome Higurashi" and most of the pairs of eyes in the class turned to her with a surprised look. "Hai, hai" Sora mumbled and glared when they stared at her.
When class ended and Sora walked outside the courtyard to wait for Kagome, who in fact, was late. Not just `late' but very late. When she did show up, she apologized and said that she had to do cleaning duty. "That's fine" Sora said and the two walked down the street. Kagome unexpectedly turned her gaze to the silent girl and was about to speak when Sora stopped and stared at her. " If you have something to say, say it, I've already had nervous looks from most people in the school today. Its bad enough that they keep quiet…" Kagome looked at the girl and grinned. "Well, I was just thinking that we could go to my house and do some of the project there. Besides, my house is closer." Sora nodded in silent agreement and so the two turned and headed toward's Kagome's house, unaware that in just a little bit of time.. Kagome would have to go to the Feudal Era.
When they arrived at the house, both girls went inside when they were greeted by Kagome's mother. "Konbanwa Kagome-chan, is this a friend of yours?" Kagome smiled at her mom and put a hand out in a gesture to introduce Sora to her mom. "Okaasan, Sora Asakura, Sora, my mother." Sora bowed respectively and then Kagome lead her to her room where they both sat on the bed. "So, how do we start?" Kagome said, a look between boredom and confusion across her face. "Well, it's a project right? Is there any particular place you like more than any other?" Kagome thought for a moment before something snapped inside of her head before she realized something. "Shit, that idiot's going to kill me for being late!" She grabbed a backpack and turned to Sora. " Listen, I have to..uh..meet someone somewhere right now, so we'll have to cut the time short."
Kagome raced outside and went towards the shrine where the well that led to the Feudal Era was while Sora looked outside her window to see a door slam behind Kagome. Sora stared at the shrine before her curiosity began to take over causing her to get up and start walking towards the door. A small ray of light forced Sora to look towards it and saw on Kagome's table, two pieces of what looked like a long diamond-shaped object but a purplish color. When she reached down to touch it, a flash of light errupted around the room causing Sora to sheild her eyes, then it stopped and she was facing the table again, but this time, the purple objects were gone.
Deciding that she should take a look and see where Kagome went, Sora headed out the door towards the well, a feeling of intense curiosity across her face. When she entered, she managed to see the last bits of Kagome's head before it dissappeared inside the well. Rushing over towards it, Sora saw what looked like a portal to another world or something like it. Just then, a fierce gust of wind blue past her knocking her off the well and into the portal that would take her to the Feudal Era… or wherever she thought she'd go to.

"Okaasan, look…she's waking up." Another poke to the side of her head was all Sora took before her eyes opened and she was staring up into a pair of emerald green eyes. A young girl around the age of nine or ten stood close to her mother as they watched the outsider sit up. "Who…who are you? And where am I?" Sora asked, using a hand to rub her head as a bump had appeared when she landed. "This is the Feudal Era but where are you from? You don't look like you're from around here" the women said while staring at the foreign clothing Sora was wearing. "Okay then. What the-" Sora clutched her side as a searing pain erupted. The little girl urged her mom to take the teenager to their hut for healing which Sora greatly appreciated. When she was finally treated an hour later, the little girl that first seen her stood beside the door, afraid to come in. After bandaging her arm, Sora turned her attention to the little girl and ushered her inside and the little girl smiled. "What's your name?" the little girl asked. "Sora. Your's?" "Emi…I live here with my mom since the rest of the village was burned down by demons." Sora was now curious when Emi mentioned the word `demons' and asked who did it. "I'm not sure… my mom says it was done by a youkai called Naraku…but… we're not sure." Emi started to cry and Sora put her arms around the little girl, as if speaking without words that everything would be okay. When they finally came out of the embrace, a shout was heard outside and the two ran out to see a heard of men coming towards the village.
"What the hell is going on?!" Sora demanded as the mother of Emi replied, "its them… the demons that destroyed the rest of the village. They're here again" but was cut off when Sora grabbed the nearest sword possible and ran towards the demons. When they reached her, they encircled her before some launched an attack. Sora held her sword in a defense mode before striking them back causing more to come at her. < I don't know what the fuck I'm doing but someone or something…please goddamit help me!> A glow the same type of glow that shone when she was in the real world, glowed a bright color that began to blind some of the demons and when Sora looked, her sword held some strange magic or something that just might be able to defeat the demons.
"Kami-sama, arigatou" Sora murmured before attacking the demons and sending them away. The villages cheered loudly while the little girl Emi came running towards Sora before launching into a huge hum. "You saved us, you saved us! How can we thank you?" The villagers gathered around and commended Sora for saving them from the demons for which she blushed lightly at the compliments ahead. "It was nothing, I just wanted to do a good deed for you saving my hide back there." But something bothered Sora and she looked at the sword, and soon enough…a long purple diamond shape appeared in front of her hand. Emi gasped in delight and said to her mother "It's a jewel shard okaasan! But why does Sora-oneesan have one?" Emi's mother sighed unable to answer her daughter's question but held a firm gaze to the foreign girl from another world. "Wherever you came from, you must keep that jewel shard with you or Naraku will come find you and take it. If it gets into his hands, he will have more power and then the whole Feudal Era will be wiped out." Sora looked at Emi's mom with a questionable look but decided not to press the matter forward.
The next day came quite early for Sora as she stood in front of the village where Emi, her mother and many other of the villagers stood to wish her good-bye. Emi was tearful and gave one last hug to Sora before letting go. "Please be safe Sora-chan" and a smile played on the teenager's lips. " I will." Emi's mother walked up to her and gave her a pack which consisted of food, a change of clothes and a smalller sword that might prove useful on her journey home. "Remember that Naraku is out there, so he will come looking for the sacred jewel shards at all cost. You might make sure he never finds them." Sora assured her that he wouldn't get to them and wished everyone a last good-bye before heading out into the sunset where she's hopefully find a way home…without going on an adventure first.
