Chapter One
Hidoi Genjitsu
(Cruel Reality)
The village was always a peaceful place, surrounded by lakes and rivers that were crisp and clean and as blue as the sky above. The surrounding grass was green and fresh and just prefect for running through barefoot in the morning hours when it was covered in cool dew from the last night's rain. The people of the village were just as peaceful. The old and young all gave respect and took it in good graces. The young were all as beautiful and healthy as anyone could hope to be, and the old were wise beyond even their own years and they were all wonderfully happy.
That is, until the youkai showed up.
Tall and green and scary as he could be, the large evil lizard had been terrorizing this happy village for days. He had eaten all their crops and he was, after all, a youkai, so no one dared try to stop him.
And then, to the luck of the village, one day a group of traveling youkai killers showed up. All of them were good hearted and ready to help out the village in need.
"We don't have time for this crap Kagome! We have to find those Shikon Shards!"
"Inuyasha, Oswari. Of course we'd help rid your village of its youkai problems!"
Inuyasha, who was currently lying in a hole made from the force in which he was smashed into the ground, was dressed out in the red robe of a fire rat. His hair was long and silver and atop his head were a pair of dog ears. He was a hanyou, the son of the great Inutaishou and a mortal woman. On the sash he used as a belt was Tetsusaiga, his prized sword that could kill one hundred youkai in one swing.
Standing above Inuyasha was a young girl of fifteen, her hair was dark as the night and her clothes were as odd as the small Kitsune that she held in her arms. Kagome Higurashi was from the year 1996, and the town of Tokyo. Of course, seeing as how she was standing in a small village in the year 1496, no one except her friends knew what `Tokyo' was.
In her arms was Shippou, he looked like a young child his whole body over, from his fierce orange hair to his . . . fox's feet. He looked like a child except for his feet and tail, for he was a Kitsune Youkai. Not as fearsome and some the youkai she had met, Kagome mainly thought Shippou was kawaii, which was fine with Shippou, because she always snuggled him and brought him candy.
There was suddenly a low growling sound, and the bushes began to rustle. Everyone was tense, and the villagers who the group had been talking to all screamed and ran back behind them. And then, from out of the bushes came a huge fearsome youkai. Or what the villagers had mistaken for one anyway.
It was actually an overgrown lizard with no special youkai skills at all, other than the fact most humans were afraid of it. Upon seeing the beast Inuyasha began to laugh, still lying on the ground.
"That is the horrible youkai!? I've seen more horrible fleas!"
"I do hope that wasn't personal." Myoga sniffed from where he sat on Inuyasha's head. Myoga was the family flea who had served Inutaishou for years until his death. After his death he was rejected by both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha as their flea, so he guarded the grave of their father. Inuyasha just ignored Myoga.
"Ah, how disappointing."
The person who was speaking now was a young houshi wearing all lavender and plum. In his hand was a large gold staff, an heirloom of his family. And beneath that staff on the palm of his hand was a second, less appealing heirloom. The Kazanna. Yet Miroku had not unsealed his Kazanna in a little over two weeks, for his own reasons.
Digging inside his robes, Miroku pulled out a small ward and placed it on the lizard's head. "Saibai." He tapped the ward with his staff and suddenly the lizard began to receive a horrible electric shock and fell to the ground, he was now no more than an ordinary garden lizard.
"Oh, that was amazing Houshi-sama!" The old villager said. Behind him, his two daughters had suddenly become starry eyes and zoomed by their grandfather to Miroku's side.
"Oh, Houshi-dono, thank you!"
"Is there any way we can repay you?"
Miroku said nothing, but he did begin to shake. The Houshi bit down on his tongue to stop himself.
`Do not say it you hentai baka! You can't do that around Sango! Oh cruel irony, why do you mock me so? Oh Sango, why must you constantly be at my side? No! What are you saying? You have to fight this!'
Then Miroku resolved it with himself. He reached forward and clasped the hands of the young woman. "Miss, Arigat--"
Miroku suddenly felt an oversized boomerang smash into his head. He fell to the ground and just before he black out he said: "Arigato..."
Sango stared down at him with mute surprise. Normally his pick up lines didn't start with `thank you', but she could never be sure with him. Sango was a Youkai Taijiya. She wore now a black cat suit and carried her Hiraikotsu, a giant boomerang made from bone. Yet the brown haired girl was suddenly feeling bad for some reason.
A little later at dark, the group was now sitting in the village elder's guest house, taking a "well earned" rest. Thought Kagome tried to explain the youkai was a simple matter, the elder had insisted on their staying. Yet all was not well, Miroku sat, clutching a cold rag to his head trying to ease the pain, and across from him sat Sango, now dressed much more casually, trying her best to apologize.
"You didn't have to hit me!"
"How was I supposed to know you weren't being perverted?"
"Sango, do you honestly think I would do something like that?"
"Well you have been for months and months!"
"Ah, Sango, you need to have a little more faith in me. After all, I am a houshi."
"You're also a baka!"
"I am the baka?" Miroku stood up, now angry. "You are the one who swings that damned Hiraikotsu around the second anyone pisses you off, you are the baka, not I!"
And with that Miroku stood up and left the room. Sango became very angry and slammed her fist into the small table in front of her, before she stood up and left the room through the side opposite of where the Houshi had left.
Sitting far in a corner to avoid fallout from the fight, Inuyasha and Kagome just stared out at the arguing pair. Behind them hid Kirara the cat and Shippou.
"What's she so worked up for anyway? Who cares if Miroku was flirting?"
Kagome stared at Inuyasha as if he was the dumbest man in the world, which was almost true at times. Trying not to make him sit, Kagome began to explain.
"Inuyasha, were you even here two weeks ago?"
Two weeks ago. It had been a crazy time, even by their standards. Miroku had been attacked by Kagura, one of the offspring of their fated foe, Naraku, and his Kazanna had been cursed. It began to destroy Miroku, shortening his lifespan to seven days. After four days of insanity, Miroku was saved by the most unlikely person to do so, Sesshoumaru. Of course he did it only to make Inuyasha feel small and useless, yet Miroku was still alive. Of course none of that mattered anymore, except that during those four days of hell, Miroku and Sango had finally realized that they loved each other more than anyone or anything else on earth.
While one would think this confession of love would have changed the two and ended their arguing, it did the opposite. Sango would always slap the houshi for asking women they met to `bear his child', but now if Miroku even looked at a pretty girl, Sango would attack. And this was causing Miroku to become very bitter. Today was only one of many that an argument had sprung up between them.
"Yeah, why?" Inuyasha said as he buried his head in Kagome's backpack, digging around for anything of interest from her time. Kagome and Shippou both just sighed and shook their heads at how oblivious he was to things like this.
----
Far, far away from the village in which Miroku and Sango were arguing, on the other side of the ocean in fact, was a small Chinese village. It was famous for having many beautiful women inside, and that is what attracted them here.
Many years ago, three powerful youkai came to China. Originally from the Western Lands of Japan, they quickly gained ranks as some of the fiercest demons in the Chinese Landscape.
Their leader looked like a human, his hair was jet black and he wore an orange vest decorated with green stripes. Always with him was his spear, which was famous for it's deadly speed when being hurled into the hearts of the youkai's foes.
With him were his two brothers, Boku and Goku. Goku was short and covered in brown fur. His eyes were, as most youkai eyes are, a burning red color. Boku was much taller and slimmer than Goku, and he was covered in white fur. The two ape brothers were famous for murder and rape all over China.
Wherever the three of them went, destruction and death followed. That is what lured him to them. That is what made the White Baboon follow them. The evil youkai had reached the village famous for its beautiful women. Each of them looked on hungrily at it.
"Now you two." The leader said. "We're selling these girls at the Mansion, so no playing with them."
Boku and Goku both complained about that, but their brother was their boss, and they didn't want to argue with him. An old villager out in front had seen the three of them and he peered out with fearful eyes as they drew close to him and his village.
"Old man." The leader said. "I'm sure you know who we are, and why we're here. So if you'd be kind enough to get all your young, beautiful women to come here, I'll let you old men live."
The old man grabbed his walking staff and held it like a sword without any fear in his old body. The youkai leader watched him and suddenly a smile appeared in his face.
"Oh? You're not afraid are you?"
The youkai smiled wide at this. His pale and thin mouth curved back to show a row of small pointy white teeth. In the flash of an eye he had swung his spear and cut the throat of the old man open. A simply task for a youkai, yet when this one cut open the old man's neck, the old man was still alive. He didn't cut deep enough to kill him.
"Now are you afraid?"
The youkai walked past the man without a backwards glance at him, allowing him to lye there and bleed to death. Boku and Goku snickered stupidly at the dying man while their older brother walked into the village.
At once many men sprang forth holding bows and they let fire a skirmish of arrows at the youkai. He smiled and laughed as he swung his spear, and cut down each of the arrows as they neared his body.
"Good, don't resist, it's more fun this way!"
The youkai jumped onto the rooftop of one of the houses in the village, he raised his spear over his head and began to spin it around with great speed and swiftness. Around the spear a barrage of red energy appeared, and then all at once before the men of the village knew what was happening, the youkai hurled the spear like a flaming thunderbolt.
The spear struck the center of the city and then a vast burst of light blinded them just before it killed them. Boku and Goku covered their eyes from the burning lights as it devoured the city like a hungry bear devours it's fish. When the light finally gave way Boku and Goku let out angry snarls, everyone in the city had been reduced to ash, as well as all of the buildings save only the one their boss stood on.
"But aniki, what about the girls?"
The youkai laughed and jumped down from the roof, and then in a flash he kicked in the door to reveal at least twenty of the village's maidens, all cowering in a corner inside the house. Boku and Goku instantly became very happy and began to run towards them, but their boss blocked their way.
"Now what did I Say? We're selling these as slaves, so no touching!"
"Aww, but aniki!" Goku whined sadly.
"No Ototo!"
While Boku and Goku wandered around the village looking for any usable wagons that weren't burnt by the elder youkai's attack, the boss youkai stood in the doorway of the girl's hut.
"Now what are you afraid of my little beauties? Do you think I'm going to eat you?"
Terrified whimpers and cries escaped their throats, which only made the black haired youkai happier.
"Kirikos Bloodbane of the Western Lands."
The youkai, Kirikos, spun around upon hearing the voice. No one ever spoke his name, his brothers just called him `aniki' and no one in China knew of his true name. Yet behind him stood a tall, white baboon who was speaking it.
"You got guts sayin' what you just did." Kirikos growled.
"I have more than that." The baboon smirked behind his skin. Kirikos noticed that this was a youkai who wore baboon skin, but he didn't care. Kirikos feared only one person, and this youkai was not he.
"What do you want?" Kirikos snapped. He was angry about his name being spoken without fear, and he was ready to stab this monkey man down with his spear.
"Do you know what this is?"
Kirikos blinked in amazement as he saw the baboon lifted his hand up and between the first finger and thumb he held a small shard of some kind of jewel. Kirikos recognized it instantly.
"The Shikon no Tama . . . or a piece of it . . . my, my, I see you're no ordinary idiot, are you . . .?" He spoke in a way that asked the baboon his name.
"You may call me Naraku." The answer came swift. "And I have many more pieces where this came from. You may have them, in exchange for your aid."
Kirikos smirked and looked at the jewel with lustful eyes. Then he shook his head. "No thanks, Naraku. I don't need a jewel to be great."
The eyes behind the baboon skin narrowed in frustration. Naraku was a very busy youkai, and he didn't have time to argue with his new ally.
"Then perhaps, Kirikos, you will help me out of the goodness of your heart?"
That caused Kirikos to laugh out loud; he had a good hearty laugh for such a vile creature. When at last his laugher died down he looked at Naraku with an amused smirk.
"And why would I do that, Naraku?"
"Because by helping me, you are sure to kill Sesshoumaru."
The change in Kirikos' face was instant, all amusement and laugher was gone and a ravenous, hateful look had replaced it at the mention of that name.
"How?" Kirikos spoke now like a business man with a short tempter.
"I hear that you kidnap women and take them to the Mansion of the Goddofazza as slaves, I want you to do this to a pair of girls by the names of Sango and Kagome."
Kirikos had lost all patience. "What do they have to do with Sesshoumaru?"
"Be patience, Kirikos. If you do as I ask, you will soon have the heads of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha as your prizes."
----
In Japan there is a small lake-front village. Most villages in Japan in the fine year of 1496 had great fear of the youkai, but this one was used to them. One youkai in particular, was quite the common site. Kaede-sama was the local priestess of this village, and on this day Kaeda-sama's hut was filled with people. The old woman dressed in the usual attire of a miko who sat by the stove, preparing sake, was indeed its owner. The rest of the people inside were her usual company, Inuyasha and his friends.
"Well, any new jewel shard new?" Kaede asked.
"Not one damn shard." Inuyasha growled. "And to top it all off Sango and Miroku won't even talk to each other."
In a flash both Sango and Miroku had given Inuyasha a smack in his head. The dog demon growled angrily at both of them but Kagome held him back from doing something . . . normal for him.
"Oh Inuyasha, tomorrow is my brother's birthday, and we're going to go spend the weekend with him."
Inuyasha at once turned around to Kagome and shook his head. "The hell you are, we need jewel shards and -- did you just say `we'?"
Never before had Kagome willing wanted Inuyasha to go to her time, for obvious reasons, but now she did indeed want him too. This was cause for Inuyasha to become very suspicious.
"Well, Souta would follow you around like Jaken follows Sesshoumaru if he could. The kid idolizes you Inuyasha, so you're coming."
She didn't know whether it was the fact they'd lose jewel hunting time, or the fact she had compared him to his brother, but for whatever the reason Inuyasha had a very sour look on his face.
"I'm not going and neither are you!"
"Inuyasha."
"NO!" He barked like a spoiled child.
"Oswari."
Kaede sighed, wishing they'd take it outside. It was amazing how they always found a way to argue over everything.
"No Kagome, and that's final!"
"Oswari!"
"You can do that all day and I won't change my mind!"
"Oswari! Oswari! Oswari! Oswari! Oswari! Oswari! Oswari!"
"Fine! You win! We'll go to the birthday party! Just stop saying that fuc-"
"Oswari!"
Kagome smiled a satisfied smile at last and stood up to go get some fresh air. She left the hut, but not before picking up Shippou, who always stayed with her. Kagome had always enjoyed Kaede's village, which would one day become the Shrine she lived at in her time.
"Shippou-chan." The raven-haired teen said to the small sleepy Kitsune in her arms. She was walking beside the lake, it was sunset and the way the colors reflected off the water was truly wonderful.
"Yes Kagome?" Shippou said looking back up at her.
"Now Shippou-chan, I want you to leave Miroku-sama and Sango-chan alone while Inuyasha and I are gone, ok? Just play with Kirara."
Shippou blinked and was suddenly curious. "Oh I get it Kagome, it's not really your brother's birthday, is it?"
Kagome shook her head no and gave Shippou a sly smile. "I just want Miroku-sama and Sango-chan to have some time to work out whatever it is that's getting them so upset. I just know those two are perfect for each other and I thought they saw that too. . ."
"Kagome?" Shippou asked. "Do you ever think we shouldn't interfere with Miroku and Sango's relationship?"
Kagome shook her head. "Don't be silly Shippou-chan, if we don't make them see how much they love each other then they never will!"
----
In a small patch of wilderness there is a farmer who takes great prize in the fruit he grows in his fields. The sweetest and ripest melons for miles around and that was very profitable. He could trade them and sell them and it made the farmer very wealthy.
Of course not everyone could afford such sweet fruits, which is why people tried to steal them so much. That's why the farmer hired a Samurai to watch over the fields and keep out thieves.
Thieves like the three who were watching the farm now.
"Jaken-sama, Rin's going to get the fruit for dinner."
Rin, a young girl not even seven years old yet was used to having to steal things. Her family were killed by a pack of bandits a few years ago when she was very young and she relied on stealing from farms and fishing ponds ever since. That is, until a few months ago, when her beloved Sesshoumaru-sama came and took her away from her horrible life. She hadn't even spoken to anyone until she meet him and Jaken-sama. To Rin, Sesshoumaru was her entire young life. He was her father, and he protector. Thought some may think the cold behavior of the Dog Demon was something a child would be afraid of, Rin wasn't scared at all.
"But Rin, wouldn't that be stealing?"
Next to Rin lay Kohaku, a brown haired boy of eleven. Several months ago he lived as a Youkai Taijiya, with his elder sister Sango and his father. However, a demon called Naraku had manipulated the boy into killing his family and friends and attacking Sango several times ever since. Then Tsune, one of Naraku's detachments, had helped Kohaku escape from the demon's control. Tsune and the nice human called Akiko who helped him were dead now, but Rin had saved Kohaku's life, and now Kohaku was traveling with her and Sesshoumaru trying to repay that debt. Plus, the young boy found Rin to be a good friend, something he needed right now. For he could now remember every grizzly detail of the murder of his family.
Rin giggled cutely and ran her hand through Kohaku's hair. "Silly Kohaku-kun, of course it would."
Kohaku had learned over the last two weeks that it was Rin who tried to get food every night for supper. Of course, Sesshoumaru never had any real trouble finding something to eat, but still he allowed Rin to indulge in her fantasy that she was the one who provided food for all of them. Yet this field was guarded by a Samurai, and Kohaku knew it was dangerous.
"What about the Samurai, Rin?"
The small black haired girl scrunched up her face trying to think of a solution to this problem, and then one came to her. She turned to her left, where a small toad youkai sat.
"Jaken-sama can distract him!"
"Huh?" Jaken was a toad youkai who had been following Sesshoumaru around as his servant for the last one hundred years. It surprised Jaken more than anyone that Sesshoumaru had saved Rin's life a few months ago with his sword, the Tenseiga. And now it was even more of a shock that Sesshoumaru allowed Kohaku to travel with them. Yet any doubts Jaken had of his master's choice of companions he kept to himself, for getting Sesshoumaru angry or annoyed was a death sentence.
"Jaken-sama, keep him busy! Come on Kohaku-kun!"
Before either Jaken or Kohaku knew what the young girl was doing, she had grabbed Kohaku's hand and was pulling him towards the field of the fruits and crops. Jaken stood up from behind the tree and cried out:
"Riiiiiiin! Waiiiiit!"
That was enough to draw the Samurai's attention. Upon spotting a pair of children running towards the fruit bearing trees and a youkai standing yelling at them, he drew his katana and ran over.
"What the hells going on? You youkai trying to disguise yourself as kids?"
Rin screamed seeing the man draw his sword high above his head, and Kohaku reached for his kusarigama and blocked the blade. Rin ran backwards to where Jaken was standing with his staff ready.
"No Jaken-sama, you'll hit Kohaku-kun!"
Rin pulled the staff, trying to stop the toad youkai from attacking. Kohaku in the meantime was fighting the samurai, blocking blow for blow with his kusarigama. Yet the young boy refused to kill any humans ever again, not after what he did to his family, and therefore would do nothing but block.
It was good for all of them that as the Samurai reached for his wakizashi to join his katana in the fight, Sesshoumaru leapt from the woods behind them and in one swipe of his arm the Samurai was finished.
"Rin, stop causing trouble." Was all the dog demon said before turning and walking back in the direction he had appeared from. Rin nodded her head and called out "Hai, Sesshoumaru-sama!" as he vanished into the trees.
"Ah, how did the great Jaken become a babysitter?" The toad sighed as Rin used the front of her yukata as a basket to carry the fruits from the tree in.
----
Back in Kaede's village the sun was setting, and with it Miroku was lying in one of the empty huts with a sigh. He had learned a long time ago that women were an odd and wonderful creature, yet one thing that he could never do around them was tell how he felt.
If he said that he loved Sango, then he was in it for life. If those three words escaped the Houshi's lips, then he would never be able to look at another female for the rest of his existence. And yet, if he continued on the way he was now, flirting shamelessly with every woman he met, asking them to bear him a child, then he would lose Sango forever.
Of course, Miroku sighed, it wasn't his fault that he needed a child. His grandfather had been cursed by Naraku fifty years ago, and the Kazanna had killed both he and Miroku's father. Now it was trying to kill him too. He needed a son to carry on the family name.
And even still, that led to a new problem. Miroku could have Sango bear him a child for any reason other than love, and yet now he didn't know if he could stand to have anyone but Sango bear his child. Which was a problem, but then of course, if he wasn't apt to die at any time in the next few years, he'd ask Sango to wed him now.
He still remembered how he felt that night two weeks ago . . .
". . . Miroku reached down on the hill, as the rain fell over his body. He picked a small flower from the ground and walked over towards Kaede's hut. He quietly crept inside, making sure not to wake Inuyasha, which was a tough task. He crept past where Kagome slept using Shippou as a stuffed toy, and over to Sango.
The young girl was sleeping so peacefully. She was full of such sorrow, and she would be full of more when he was gone, but when she was asleep she had no cares or pain, and it was now, as he watched her sleep and realized that he would never see her again, that he truly appreciated her. That he truly realized just how much he loved Sango.
"Sayonara."
He reached down and kissed her cheek softly, and then he lay the flower down next to her face. . ."
Miroku then made up his mind. He'd go apologize to Sango right now. He'd make things right. The Monk stood up, brushed off his robes, grabbed his staff and headed out the door to find Sango.
----
Sango was sitting by one of the lakes. The girl of sixteen was lying under a tree, listening to the sounds of nature and watching the sun as it fell from the sky. She was in a bad mood, but somehow the sounds of the water and the sight of the sun made her feel relaxed and at peace.
Her mind was focused on Miroku. She knew she had been out of line the other day when she had hit him, and she also knew it wasn't the first time lately that she'd made that mistake. Yet how could she be blamed? She would marry the Houshi tomorrow if he asked her too, but she would not share him. If he wanted to keep looking at and flirting with every woman he meet with a cute face, then there was no chance of love between him and Sango.
Back that day weeks ago when she had awoken to find him missing she had felt her world collapse again. Her father and family were dead, her brother was the reason for that horrible fact, and Miroku was possibly the biggest pervert she would ever meet.
And yet any thought about the morning she awoke to find him gone and she would be sent into tears. . .
" . . . Sango's had slept a dreamless sleep the night before. She had hoped for as much. For she was afraid to dream, afraid of what she may dream about. Who she may dream about. Never in her life had Sango been as afraid as she was now. Afraid that she'd lose Miroku as she had lost everyone else she ever loved.
And when she opened her eyes in the morning, a small pink flower was sitting next to her. She looked at it and her eyes filled with tears, for she knew exactly what happened.
`Houshi-sama...' . . ."
Sango sighed at the memories, knowing that she loved him. She just wished she had one more chance to make things right. It was then she heard footsteps, turning over she saw him standing in front of her. She quickly stood and walked over to him.
When faced with a battle against a youkai, Sango was a fearless warrior and a queen of the field of combat, yet when faced with the battle of love, she was just a shy little girl.
"Sango, listen to me, before when I, well, I was out of line."
Her arms flew around him and her head rested on his shoulder. "I'm sorry Houshi-sama, I shouldn't have hit you."
Miroku wrapped his arms around her as well. "And I need to change my perverted ways."
Sango stared up into his eyes, and she began to tilt her head towards him. Their lips began to move closer and closer to each other, and slowly their lips touched softly. A sweet kiss of lovers in the sunset light.
Then all at once Sango broke away and slapped the houshi across his cheek, a look of raw anger was burning across her young face. During their romantic moment, the houshi's hands had moved from her lower back to . . . lower.
"I can't believe I bought that crap!" Sango turned her back to him, only until she realized that she didn't want him behind her, so she turned around once more. "All you ever do is try to be romantic so that you can grab my ass or breast! You are the biggest jerk I've ever met and I can't believe I ever liked you!"
"Sango, it's not --"
A second slap shut the houshi up, and then Sango began to walk away from him. With a sigh Miroku looked down at his hands. "Only one of you may have my Kazanna, but you're both cursed."
Not far away Kagome and Kaede had seen the whole thing. Kaede just shook her old head, but Kagome was filled with determination.
"Kaede-obachan, I've got to get those two back together. If they're not a loving couple by the time Inuyasha and I get back from my time, I'll have to take them under my wing."
Kaede's aged face broke into a sarcastic smile which made Kagome frown.
"What? Don't you have faith in me?"
"Well Kagome, normally when you help someone with something you have to know about that something."
Kagome was becoming frustrated. "Just what are you trying to say?"
Shippou had to speak up. "Well, you have Kouga following you around thinking you're his wife-to-be, and Inuyasha is torn between you and Kikyo, so maybe you shouldn't try to make Sango's romance like yours. . ."
Kagome wasn't amused. Her face was now in what Shippou had labeled "scary lady", which was no less than the truth. Shippou jumped down from her arms and hide behind one of Kaede's pant legs.
"You can think what you want Shippou, but I'm going to make Sango and Miroku love each other even if it kills them."
Inuyasha, who had joined the small group, laughed to himself. "That it just might."
"Oswari."
When Shippou said `scary lady', he meant it.
Sango walked over to the group with a mean look in her eyes, but behind the anger Kagome could see her friend was sad and in pain.
"Kagome-chan, how long will you be gone?"
Kagome didn't know what she should say, but at last she opened her mouth and spoke. "Just a couple days."
Sango nodded. "Then I'll be going to my village until you get back." She shot a dirty look at the perverted houshi. "I need some time alone to think."
And before Kagome could stop her, Sango had vanished into the hut to gather her things for the trip to the ruins of the youkai taijiya village in which she was raised. Sango just needed some time. She wanted things to work with Miroku, but if they continued like this, it never would.
And as he watched the group of friends launched into a chaos of arguing and fighting, Naraku smirked from the hill above the village. It was becoming so easy to get his enemies right where he wanted them. . .

Author's Notes
Konnichiwa!
Heh, yep, I've got the sequel up already! I know this chapter was a bit more humorous than most of "Sayonara", but I don't think that is a problem. And the heartfelt moments and action are on their way as well. ^^
Ok, I know some of you are wondering how I write these so fast, so I'll let you in on my secret:
1) I've got 132 episodes of Inuyasha in Japanese w/ subtitles, and in watching them I've become addicted to the show.
2) There has been nothing exciting goin' on in this crappy small town I live in. (*Cough* Missouri is boring! *Cough*) so really I have a lot of free time.
3) And, of course, I'm one of those nerds who loves to write stuff. Of course, Stephen King, J.R.R Tolkien, and Will Shakespeare were once nerds like me, so I'm in very good company. ^_-
