A Mother's Words
Chapter 5
"Okaa-san I'm home," Kagome yelled.
"I'm in the kitchen Kagome," her mother yelled.
Inuyasha took her things upstairs while she went into the kitchen, only to find Hojo.
"Oh, hi Hojo-kun." She said nervously and looked down.
"Hi Higurashi," he said as he blushed.
"Kagome, Hojo brought you some soup." Her mother commented.
"Yes, my Okaa always made it when I was sick and it always helped me so I thought it would help you." He said thoughtfully. He walked up and tried to hug her. She gently hugged him back, she knew Inuyasha was jealous before, but she had no idea if he'd still be jealous, wait it's Inuyasha, of course he'd still be jealous. "Well, I've got to go maybe, if you're feeling better we can go to a movie or somethin' on Saturday?"
"I'm sorry Hojo-kun but I'll have to pass this time, maybe some other time," she said sweetly.
"I'll look forward to it," he said flashing her a smile.
"Okay," she replied, man that boy doesn't take a hint.
"Bye then."
"Bye."
Once Hojo had left her mother began to speak, "Kagome dear why don't you go to the movie with Hojo, you don't spend any time here anymore, and it's not like this thing with Inuyasha is going anywhere."
"Well, actually Mama it is," she said happily.
"What?"
"Well, Mama youkai have this 'mating' system, they um...you know and then 48 hours later they have a ceremony, a marking ceremony, and well, it's kinda like a wedding, you wear wedding attire and say vows and a miko and priest bless the union."
"Kagome, are you trying to tell me that you and Inuyasha are mates?"
"Well, yes Mama, I would have come back and told you, but it just kinda happened and then if I had come back, it would have messed the whole ritual up and I couldn't do that, I'm sorry."
"Kagome, dear I understand."
"You do?"
“I told ya she would.” Inuyasha said suddenly from behind her.
"Of course I do, I was in love once, remember children don't just come form no where."
"Well ya."
"So, when will I have grandchildren?"
"MOM!!! I don't know," she blushed.
"What?" Inuyasha asked, not believing he was hearing this.
"Well, we were kinda hoping that you'd help us plan a wedding in this time."
"Well, of course dear. I've been waiting for this since the day you were born. Do you honestly think that I'd let you not have a wedding that I could plan?"
"Well, no," she said after a long silence.
“Inuyasha, do you think you could give me a moment alone with mama?”
“Keh sure I guess.” He said leaving.
"Kagome, dear, what is it?"
"It's just, do you think Daddy would approve of Inuyasha? And of my marring him? I don't know if he would, I mean with Inuyasha being a hanyou and all , and I'm only seventeen. Daddy always had high hopes for me, you know to be a doctor or a lawyer or something."
"Kagome, dear, yes your father wanted you to be a doctor or lawyer, but more than that he wanted you to be happy, and Inuyasha makes you happy. So yes Kagome he'd be okay with it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Mama, do think I could not go to college?"
"Well, that's something you have to decide, you and Inuyasha. If you don't want to then don't, sure I want you to but, now that you and Inuyasha are...together, your life is more there than it is here, so you may not want to go, and I understand that, as long as you have my grandchildren. I want six."
"SIX?! Mama, I don't know about that."
"Okay, I'll settle for four, but no less."
"MAMA!!!"
"Okay, well why don't you go upstairs and get cleaned up."
"That sounds good, thanks you Okaa."
“Your welcome sweetheart.” Ayumi said, kissing Kagome on the cheek. “Oh and keep it quiet, Souta is sleeping.
“Mama!”
“What?”
Kagome mumbled something as she walked past her mother to go to bed with her hanyou.
