A Precious Gift: Rule 4 Shopping with your client does not mean you get to have fun...Chapter 4

Last Time...
***************************************
Kagome's eyes widened when she felt his arms encircle her and pull her towards him. Inu-yasha held her gently, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.
"Listen Miss. Higurashi for now you have to be someone else just so your love doesn't go to waste. I told you before in the car that I know how you feel, and though that comment about me being a jerk really pissed me off I'll let it slide. Just breathe and take life one day at a time, and you'll be ok. I'm fine after all," he said.
She didn't know again why but that pain inside went away when he spoke. She wrapped her arms around him and started to cry full-blown. Inu-yasha surprised didn't say much.
*I'll find the bastard who killed you...I promised* he thought looking towards the picture.
***************************************

The sunlight shinned through the windows, making the crisp white sheer curtains look almost angelic. Kagome stared at the chandelier that glowed and sparkled making small prism rainbows on the cream, now with the sunlight almost a honeymoon yellow ceiling. She sighed and turned on her side. She in took the smell of the pillows and sheets she found it to small like her lawyer, everything smelled like him and projected his style. She smiled. What a funny man he was. He came to work with the FBI just so he could find the killer of his fiancé. He really didn't have to say anything for her to figure it out. He was so hurt when he saw that picture.

She sat up, pulled her knee to her chest, and placed her head on them. What was happening to her, why did she feel so empty yet full? She wondered what she did with her life up until now was right. If cutting off all connection with her family and friends was a good idea. She always convinced herself that she did it for love, for her soul mate, but what if the man she gave her world up for wasn't her soul mate. Kagome chuckled there is no what if any more he left her. Those tears came back again. He left her she clenched the sheets.
"Why?" she asked. "Why did you leave me?! I would have gone with you! Why didn't you wait?" she asked. She wanted this pain away from her. It hurt to want to forget but then it hurt to remember too.

The soft knock on the door told her that it was time to be ok again. She sat there for a second before pulling the covers away and walking towards the window, the beach looked breath taking as the blue ocean washed the golden sand into it's self. Inu-yasha opened the door when he heard no answer, he didn't want to think that his client was dead or committed suicide. His eyes were fixed on the woman standing by the window. She looked beautiful almost as if she was a higher being highlighted by the sun's golden rays. Kagome turned towards him and smiled.
"Good morning Mr. Takagi" she said.
"You know you don't have to call me that. Inu-yasha will be just fine," he said.
"Very well then I would like to be called Kagome" she said.
He didn't say anything just looked at her. Kagome stared at him.
"Is there something on my face?" she asked. [AN: God what a cliché]
"No nothing, were you crying?" he asked.
Kagome looked down and smiled, "I didn't know you were that good" she said.
"I'm not" he said. "I just got a call that they can't bring you your things today because of something, I couldn't hear because Miroku was getting his ass kicked" said Inu-yasha with a small smile.
Kagome laughed, "I guess I have to go shopping" she said.
"Don't you mean we?" he asked.
"Right" she said.

Inu-yasha found himself driving towards down town. They went to 20 different stores all in which Kagome was pulled into a group of clerk catering to her. Inu-yasha just glared at any clerk that tried to flirt with him or come near him.
"I'll have that Chiffon skirt" she said pointing at the blue-layered ruffle chiffon skirt.
"You have great taste" said the clerk. "Would you like to try it on? We have a dress too" she said.
"Um sure give me the dress too" Kagome smiled.
Inu-yasha wanted to poke his eyes out and just hand them to the clerk. He sat on the couch they provided. He looked at the fabric and wondered if this was the same material of the dresses sold there.
"So what do you think?" asked Kagome's small voice.
He looked up at her and once again his breath was stuck in his throat. The dress hugged her body the blush pink dress layered around her knees and the back hem went down to her ankles. She spanned around for him.
"It looks good" he said with a small smile.
"Really?" she asked.
"Really"
Kagome smiled when she looked at herself, she felt happy for just that second. *I suppose I still can feel beautiful...* she thought with a small blush.
He stared at where she stood just seconds before, the way she looked almost everything about this woman pulled something in him. He shook his head. He wasn't about to think anything, she was his client and that's all they couldn't be friends, not with the black background of his life.
"Ok I'm ready" said Kagome walking out now in a white sundress with white and beige wedge heels.
"Sure let's go" he said getting up and taking the bag from her.
"I got it" she insisted.
"No I'll take it" he said walking out with it.
The got into his silver convertible. Kagome looked towards the back seats, which were filled with bags and smiled a little. She never had this much fun shopping, well that is since she was in middle school.
"Thank you" she said.
"For what?" he asked.
"For putting up with me, I had a good time today" she said.
Inu-yasha gave a small chuckle "Women always feel better when they go shopping" he said.
"God what a stereo type" she said smiling.
"Hey so far that's all I have seen" he said.
"I'm sure" she said.
They drove to a small restaurant. Again a silent meal is until she suddenly had the urge to talk to him.
"Do you visit your family?" she asked all of a sudden.
"My mother and father lives near by and I have a half brother that doesn't really like to see me as his brother" he stated.
"Sometimes having those sibling rivalry is what I look to" she said.
"You left your family no?" he asked.
"You see my mother was a very understanding woman and well she would have approved of almost anything, but that I have fallen in love with a man so much older then me" she said.
"I think I would have agreed with her, I don't understand what you would see in a older man" he stated.
Kagome smiled "That's what most people said, and thought maybe I married him for his money but my heart was with him all the way" she said digging her fork into the plate.
"People are stupid they mistake everything that doesn't make sense to them. They pick on people who live in a different world" he said.
"Strange how I feel as if I understand your world more then I understand my own" she said.
"It's not strange, just a tragic coincidence" he said.
"How about we don't bring that up?" she asked looking down at her plate.
"Bring up what?" he asked.
"If I have to be a normal woman then let's pretend as if nothing ever happened and I'm simply visiting a friend, who you happened to be" she said.
"If you insist, but I must warn you that no matter what you won't out run this feeling of loss and pain" he said.
"I don't want to remember, hurts to want to hold him, and see him smile again" she said.
"I suppose your way isn't completely wrong" he said.
"I simply want to be me" she said looking at him with longing, which he knew of.
The ringing of his cell phone told him it's time to get back to work. "Hello?" he asked. "Yea were having lunch" he said looking at Kagome who was smiling at the little girl waving from the outside. "Yes sure we'll drive by" he said. "Ok bye" he said.
"Who was that?" she asked not looking at him.
"Before you forget completely we have to solve this case, and we have to keep going back until we find your husband's killer" he said.
"Funny now that I want to liberate myself you call him my husband, yet when I wanted to keep him in my head you told me to forget that I was ever married" she said with a chuckled.
"Does it matter? You were never going to forget him" said Inu-yasha standing and placing the bill on the table.
"You can be such an insensitive jerk" she mumbled and stood.
"You keep this up with the jerk shit and we'll have problems" he said.
"We'll see about that!" she yelled before walking out of the restaurant.
"God what a bitch" he mumbled.

They car ride was quite with Kagome glaring at everything that she possibly could glare at. Inu-yasha on the other hand just looked towards the street. They arrived at the beautiful manor with in an hour. Kagome stepped out and felt her knees give away, if it weren't for the arms that held her up she would've fallen to the floor. She couldn't believe she was back the very place that was her home, her loving home up until yesterday.
"Glad you two got here" said Sango walking out with Miroku behind her.
"What's going on?" asked Kagome.
"Were doing a routine investigation and search" she said.
"What happened to Jubie and Ichiru?" she asked.
"Your maid and butler are currently being questioned" said Miroku.
"I see" she said looking up at the house.
"Would like to retrieve some of your things?" asked Sango.
"I did some shopping, but sure" she said.
"Inu-yasha will go with you" said Sango.
They headed up the stairs Inu-yasha watched as she walked with her head low, this was her home after all. He watched as she stopped in front of a picture of her and her husband. "This was my favorite picture of us" she stated. She let her fingers gaze it once before she walked away holding back the tears which threatened to come. Inu-yasha followed her to the bedroom. The whole place was filled with glass vases and candles.
"What is this room?" he asked.
Kagome chuckled, "I have a obsession for vases and candles, I used to buy them from all over anyone that caught my eye, and here is a life time worth of collection" she said.
"Some hobby" he stated.
"Whatever suites you Mr. Tak-Inu-yasha" she said.
Inu-yasha nodded something about the way she had said his name, made his heart jump and that wasn't good. "Let's try and hurry up" he said.
"Right" she said as she touched one of the small vases. "To be honest there isn't anything I would take" she said.
"What's this?" asked Inu-yasha looking at the travel suite case with a note on top.

Dear Mrs. Kinomoto,
You have been wonderfully kind to me, I just want to say thank you for the few of the best years of my life, I know since the master's death you have been in great deal of pain and I am too for he was like a father I never had. He looked after all of us. I packed your favorite things just in case you decide to leave us for a while, go to your family. I just hope you always remember me.
Love,
Jubie

"Oh what a wonderful person she was" said Kagome. Inu-yasha opened up the case and looked through it's content before closing it and making his way to the door with the bag.
"We should get going" he stated.
"Yes" she said wiping the tears. Kagome looked back once more and smiled. "Good-bye" she whispered.
This was it. She was going to leave it and never look back at it again. She was going to close her eyes and dream like a lovesick teenager for her prince charming who wasn't hers any longer. She caught up to where Inu-yasha was talking to Sango and Miroku and stood there.
"So Miss. Higurashi how is old Inu-yasha here treating you?" asked Miroku.
"Just as a goods host would" said Kagome with a small smile.
"You know it's nice to see a smile on a beautiful woman such as yourself" he said.
"Thank you Mr. Kaazan" she said.
"Miroku is just fine" he said.
"Very well Kagome will do as well" she said.
"It's so nice we could all become friends" said Miroku with a smile.
"Yes"-said Kagome.
"At times like these a friend is more then enough to make you feel as if you're not completely alone" he said to her softly.
Inu-yasha watched Miroku and Kagome talk and almost felt bad that he had to bring her back to this hell.

"We have a problem" said Sango looking at Inu-yasha.
"What?" asked Inu-yasha.
"Something came up in the investigation where there is a connection to murder from 5 years ago" said Sango.
What?!" asked Inu-yasha.
"It seems that the same person or someone from the same group is trying to kill Miss. Higurashi" said Sango.
"You can't be serious" Inu-yasha exclaimed.
"Sorry but I am" said Sango.
"Things doesn't add up at all" he stated.
"If that's the case you have to take care of her in a manner that the tiniest mistake could cost both of your lives" she said.
"When will I get more information?" he asked.
"Later, have you discussed the matter of the will with her?" he asked.
"No things been real hectic" he said.
"I can imagine" she said. "Take care of her Inu-yasha" said Sango watching Kagome laughing at something Miroku said to her.
"Yeah" he said.
