Chapter 20: Fight

A faint breeze brushes along Sesshoumaru's ear. Passing it off as nothing, he narrows his eyes to his opponent. With all the new youkai to fight, the only thing that is not on there side is time. The more time Kagome stayed with the evil hanyou, the less likely chance to get her again.
Both groups are tensed. Waiting for the other to make the first move. Growls and a few snarls are heard from Naraku's minions.
Naraku throws Kagome-Kikyo at the ground, but Kirara is there to catch her fall. With that movement from Naraku, the battle begins as he rushes to take down Inuyasha, thrusting his tentacles to pierce his chest.
Inuyasha brings up his Tetsuaiga to counter the attack and avoid as much injury as possible this early in the fight.
As the battle wages on, Miroku and Sango fight off the lesser demons. Sango using her sword for those that get too close, and her Hiraikotsu on the demons afar. Miroku using his ofudas and staff on anything in his path.
Kirara stays close to Sango's side, protecting her back as she protects there front.
Sesshoumaru, wanting his vengeance, attacks Naraku as he is busy with Inuyasha's sword. Powering his whip, he swipes at the side of Naraku, but he jumps away, hitting nothing but the earth.
"Are the brothers going to gang up on me now? Since when do you two fight together?" Laughing slightly to try and rial Inuyasha. Throwing his tentacles again, he manages to split the two brothers up, one landing on each side of his attacking appendage.
"Shut up Naraku! Sesshouamru! What the hell do you think your doing!? This is my fight!" He turned his head at the brother but never left his eyes from Naraku.
Something in that left Sesshoumaru to wonder. "Do not presume you are the only one that wishes to kill that hanyou Inuyasha."
Again they attack, Inuyasha swipes his sword down, bringing the wind scar.
Naraku jumps out of its path but is met by Sesshoumaru.
Using his speed, he met up with the evil hanyou right where he predicted he would be, and managed to swipe down and dismantles an offending tentacle.
Naraku yowls in pain, as miasma pours out of the wound. He jumps opposite of Sesshoumaru, but is met strait on by another of Inuyasha's wind scars. His eyes widen at the glowing light traveling on the land, but instead of jumping once again to a side point, he rockets to the air.
'Damn, wasn't expecting that.' Inuyasha thinks when Naraku lands on a limb of a near by tree.
"So the brothers had a plan after all." Naraku pants after his constant defensive. "Do not think I can be out done with a few minor techniques!" In that time, he regrew his severed tentacle, swishing it to test its maneuverability. Happy with the job, he jumps from his tree, prepared for a double battle.

Sango and Miroku have been doing fairly well. Sango has been cutting strait through the line of youkai, never stopping and proceeding forward.
She rides Kirara into the air to throw Hiraikotsu at the bundle of demons surrounding Miroku. Thrusting hard, half of his attackers fall to the attack and return of her weapon.
Miroku's holy magic has been fading quickly. With the onslaught of demons, they have been getting too close and he has been drained of magic.
Using his staff as the next best thing, he twirls his weapon, using the spikes at the very tip to puncture his opponents.
Miroku has been staying in the same spot from the beginning of the fight, pools of blood of his and of the other youkai, make the minions restless for the taste of fresh blood, and attack him in all directions.
Holding them off as much as possible, help arrives from Sango's Hiraikotsu as the back half are gone, leaving less to push him back and give him a chance to push them away for an attack himself.
Gaining what little holy powers left, Miroku chants an incantation, causing the demons to fall to their deaths after a wave of white magic falls from the sky.
"Miroku are you hurt?" Sango asks landing by his side. She places her hands on his upper back and shoulder to support his tired body.
Panting lightly, he smiles and looks to her, "Never been better my dear Sango. It is always nice to know that you care about my well being." Inching too closely, Sango swats his hand away before it gets to close.
"If I were you monk, it wouldn't be the demons I worry about, understand?" She glares behind his head, gripping his shoulder tighter to get her point across, when he falls from the pain on said shoulder.
"Oh my god, Miroku! Why didn't you tell me they struck your shoulder!?" Kneeling to help him back up, Sango carries him to Kirara. "Kirara, make sure nothing happens to him." Running back to battle, Sango continues her assault on the lesser beasts.

Kikyo-Kagome looks at the battle field with worry. Sango seems to be doing just fine, better maybe now that she found out Miroku was hurt.
Looking to Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha, it amazes her to know the both are actually fighting Naraku together. Inuyasha would have swiped down at Naraku, but jumped out of the way and Sesshoumaru came from behind him to strike with his whip since Naraku was at a longer distance. 'When did those two actually learn to fight together?!'
Turning around once more, Kikyo-Kagome sees her imposter. Kagome-Kikyo, looks onto the battle with an indifference face. Hiding behind a tree, she waits to see who becomes the victor.

Naraku is getting tired of the defensive, he lets loose many of his tentacle, piercing the air on all sides, letting luck hit its target.
Sesshoumaru lets his speed dodge the attacks, slicing away any that get to close.
Inuyasha on the other hand, uses the Tetsuaiga to take the force of the blows, but, Naraku sees, and controls those few tentacles to attack Inuyasha, piercing both shoulders, and his chest from behind.
Inuyasha wasn't expecting the attack to be as it was. When he had seen the tentacles move from him, he was about to jump, when a fierce pain came from his body. He saw blood, everything was red for a second, until he felt nothing but pain.
He screamed pain and anger that he was tricked. Trying to move his limbs, but nothing seemed to work. He saw blurry, before everything went dark, muscles twitching, the pain was too much, he couldn't feel it anymore.
Naraku lifted Inuyasha up, he dropped the Tetsaiga on the ground with a loud clang, before it transformed back to its original state.
Naraku began to laugh at the twitching hanyou trapped onto his flesh.
Sesshoumaru was attacking him fiercely, rage building inside of him at the witness of his brothers attack, whether he hated him or not, they were brothers, and no one was aloud to hurt him but the eldest.
Naraku threw Inuyasha at the enraged taiyoukai, who caught him before he fell.
Sesshoumaru was holding Inuyasha in a brotherly embrace, a warm liquid seeping through his cloths, three massive holes pierced Inuyasha's body, he was bleeding heavely, breathing coming in slowly, Sesshoumaru could barely feel Inuyasha's heart beat.

Kikyo-Kagome was struck dumb when she saw Inuyasha get skewered by Naraku. She began to panic, her body was trembling for her friend. In an unbelieving whisper she called his name. But no answer was returned, so she didn't care if her voice killed her, she had to call him. "INUYASHA! No! You can't leave me!" Pulling at the ropes that bound her to the cliff side, she steadied her legs to it and pulled herself as hard as she possibly could. The steak piercing the cliff gave way and she landed on her back.
Running as fast as she could to Inuyasha's side, she didn't care that she looked like Kikyo, she had to see him before it was too late.

Sango had managed to hold her own on the fight with the lessors, she was down on her last five, with one stroke of the Hiraikotsu, they were gone.
"Sango! Quickly, Inuyasha is seriously hurt, we have to get to him!" Miroku was riding on Kirara, he lifted Sango up by her waist with his good shoulder, and they sped off to see to there friend.

When Sesshoumaru saw that Kikyo-Kagome was running to Inuyasha, he gave a warning growl to cease her coming. "Kikyo do not get any closer to us, I am warning you! I will not hesitate to kill you." Sesshoumaru was still in a rage. He saw Kikyo as a threat, and he did not want to deal with Kikyo at the moment.
"Shut up Sesshoumaru! Don't be stupid! I'm Kagome!" Screaming as loud as she can while tears streaming down her face.
Sesshoumaru took a second to ponder this, he was skeptical until he took a strong intake of her sent. He smelled blood, the same as Kagome when she was in 'heat'. His eyes returned to normal, "Kagome..?"
Once he realized it was her, Kikyo-Kagome ran to Inuyasha's side. Grabbing his hand and holding it tight. "Inuyasha it's me Kagome, Inuyasha can you hear me?" She asks, her voice breaking up.
"Inuyasha!" Sango, Miroku and Kirara all surround their dying friend.

Naraku has been watching the little display of emotion. Silently thinking of a way to kill them all without their knowing. He was going to creep up on them before they knew what was happening, but Kikyo-Kagome stood. Her face covered by her hair.
"Naraku. You have killed for the last time. This is one death that you will not get away from." Raising her head to meet his strait on, a light pink energy surround her. As it clears, the real Kagome emerges, her hidden miko powers countering Kikyo's spell.
Everyone's eyes widen when they see Kagome, grabbing air as if she has her bow, pulls back her arm, a glow arises from air, and the shape of a bow and arrow ready to be fired is aimed strait at Naraku.
"You will die by my hands Naraku. For killing my best friend." She lets her energy arrow go, it disappears, as it travels through the air, but it reappears sticking out of Naraku's chest.
He screams in pain, he can feel his body disintegrate before him. What seemed like an eternity, was just the span of a few seconds, all that they had gone through in finding the evil hanyou, collecting the jewel shards, is finally done.
Naraku is left nothing but ash, as a glitter of light falls from the sky, landing, is a large piece of the Shikon no Tama.
Kagome doesn't bother to retrieve it. She turns around to see everyone looking sad at her. She can understand, in the time it took her to kill Naraku, Inuyasha died, his eyes slightly open.
Kagome kneels and cries on his chest. Sango, Miroku and Kirara leave to give Kagome room to morn her friend.
Once they were gone, Sesshoumaru does a very un Sesshoumaru thing, he grabs Kagome, and holds her tight while she cries on his shoulder.
Kagome wraps her arms around Sesshoumaru's embrace, squeezing him as hard as she could, trying to dull the pain in her heart. 'I didn't get to say goodbye.' She thinks to herself.
After a few minutes of crying, Kagome falls asleep in Sesshoumaru's arms. He lifts her bridal style, and walks to where her friends are. They had gone to retrieve the jewel.
"Bring Inuyasha to my castle, as gratitude to his friends I will allow you to stay at my home."

A/N: *crying* It's oh so sad! Well that's the next chapter. FYI I will have a sequel to this fic. But it's still a long way from now. I still need to have Kagome actually fall in love with Sesshoumaru. Yes she is seeing the demon lord differently then before, but its not too big yet. I think next chapter will be a few months after Inuyasha's death. And for Sesshoumaru being upset about Inuyasha's death, any brother will be if they had them murdered. And for Inuyasha not feeling anymore pain, it's true that if you feel too much pain you don't feel anything. I know through experience. I jumped out of a moving car at the beach, I think I only lived 'cause the sand cushioned my fall. Oh well, I didn't feel anything, got up without a scratch, but I did not see my life flash before my eyes. Ok enough rambling. Time for the reviews and thank you's:
