InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Leaves and Roots ❯ Who? ( Chapter 2 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
I haven't gotten many reviews so far... Truthfully, I've only gotten one. So I decided to keep going at a slow pace, with short chapters. Trying to see how many readers I'm really getting, if any at all.
And, once again, I still don't know where this fic is headed. I've managed to muster up some ideas of future pairings. I'm not happy with the way the fic is progressing, and I plan to go back and proof read the last chapter and possibly this one sometime in the near futer, when I have more time on my hands.
Disclaimer: I do not own the series, the characters, the scenery or anything associated with the anime/manga/series thing. I am merely borrowing them...They belong to Rumiko Takahashi. :)
Oh, and by the way, the genres of this story were just me trying to sum up all of what I considered a possibility of what might happen in future chapters. And the rating T- for teen I thought was pretty accurate...Considering my age, anyways. Heh. But, seriously, there were be no sexual scenes in this fic. I'm way too bashful to have a wing at that so early in writing...so...yeah. Maybe in other fics. If I ever get that far....=/
Anywho.

They were doing garden work for Kaede. Collecting certain roots and flowers, killing off the weeds and those sorts of things. Personally, he thought the old miko was simply trying to get out of doing her work. He was working on plucking weeds from a corner of the garden, with Sango working at the opposite end. Fortunately for him, this type of work consisted of alot of bending over from both Sango and himself, and he was certainly taking advantage of his nice view when she bent over. At the moment, she was wrestling a particularly nasty root from the ground.
Admiring the view, he supressed a giggle when she crouched low on her feet and tugged on the stubborn root with both hands. She gave one, two...three harsh tugs before the root came flying out of the ground, sending a surprised Sango toppling backward. He couldn't help but chuckle at her.
His laughter quickly turned to coughing as she glared menacingly up at him.
He sighed as they returned to their work, Sango mumbling under her breath about 'stupid, ugly, roots and monks with roaming hands'.
He straightened up, holding his hand to the small of his back. His muscles there were begining to get sore, and it was becoming increasingly hot outside. He searched their surroundings for Shippo and Kaede, seeing them walking in their direction. The old lady's face was flushed from heat, and Shippo was panting heavily from her shoulder. They seemed exhausted, and Miroku felt a pang of guilt for his earlier thoughts about the old miko...
"Sango, Miroku, it is time to prepare for dinner. Kagome had earlier suggested we dine outside, something she called a 'picnic'." Miroku quirked an eyebrow at the old lady's words. A pick nick? He was about to open his mouth to speak, but was interupted by a gleeful Shippo.
"And she brought pop sticks!"
Both his and Sango's eyebrows shot up. Pick nick? Pop sticks? He pondered idley on Kaede and Shippo's words. Eating outside was not something specail. They rarely ate inside the suffocating hut anymore, choosing instead to sit outside and hope to the gods for a breeze. He shurgged his shoulders, and motioned for the three of them to walk with him. "Come," he said, "let us go find Kagome and Inuyasha." And with a nod from Sango and Kaede, they walked off in the direction of Goshinboku.

'Me? She's thinking about me?' Inuyasha pondered on that for a moment...She obviously wasn't in a good mood. Shit. That means he did something wrong. Fuck! What was he going to do to keep her from sitting him? Before he could reply, she started talking again.
"Well, not just you, I was also thinking of me...and you. I was sorta thinking of us, ya know? Uhm...and, Kikyou, too...."
Again, before he could reply, she started talking faster and stumbling over her words more. "I know! I know you, uhm, pledged you- your life to her and that you would go to hell with her and all that, and that I, uhm, wanted to stay here with you and-" Growling softly, he cut her off by placing his fore finger over her lips.
He paused, the soft, moist skin of her supple lips turning his mind to mush for a few seconds before he could reply. 'Shit. How am I going to explain this to her?' He remembered pledging that he owed Kikyou, but he never said that he was going to go to hell with the undead woman. He pledged to protect her, mostly from Naraku. He had, then, chosen Kikyou over Kagome. That was over a year ago, and he had began debating wether or not he had made the right decision. But he was still not ready to confront his decision, and as he looked around for a distraction he caught a whiff of Miroku, Sango, Kaede and Shippo nearing where they were. He almost sighed with relief. "Kagome, the others are coming this way. Can we talk about this some other time?"
Her eyes flickered with anger, but she subsided. "Fine. But we will talk later." She pointed a threatening finger in his face before standing abruptly and stalking away from him.
He growled quietly at her retreating back, and was about to stand when movement in the opposite direction caught his attention. He glared, forzen, searching the trees and bushes for any sign of movement. He sniffed the air, inhaling through his mouth and nose for better results. Nothing. He eyed the surroundings suspicously. He shrugged his shoulders and turned, catching up to Kagome to walk with her.
Watching their retreating backs from the shadows, two narrowed, green eyes peered out. Hissing softly, the eyes shrank back into the shadows, disapearing.

Please inform me if I mispelled anything. I'm trying my best to get everything right, but I'm still not positive.
InuYashasgirlfreind- Thank you for the review! I'm glad you like the first chapter. I hope you like this one, too. :)
