CHAPTER 1: Befalling

NOTHERNLAND S CASTLE: COURTYARD:

"How many times do I have to tell you two? Leave me alone!!" Tarri uttered exasperatedly as she turned to face the two boys blocking her path to the courtyard and the castle beyond.

They had been doing this since they had come to stay with "Uncle Ra" and their beloved cousins. That had been two weeks prior and the Ball, which they were staying for, still wasn't until the next Full Moon.

It was still the New Moon.

"Lohgie what's wrong? Don't you LIKE us anymore?" Her cousin Jah said sarcastically as Tarri rolled her sporadic eyes and fisted then unfistered her hands a few times to get rid of some pent up annoyance.

The two demons were soooo vexatious. If it weren't for the fact they were her cousins they would be on the floor in pieces for this superciliousness attitude they seemed to have, IN HER HOME. She was SOOOO tempted to knock them into the Seventh Ring of Hell with her magic.

"Please relocate your atrocious faces from my path Cousin Turk, Cousin Jah. I would be very pleased if you would kindly relocate your persons off a cliff." She sighed heavily, using her authority to try and get past the boys without making a pup of herself.

The two black haired boys shook their heads, confused by all the big word she had used most likely, and stayed put.

"We don't have to listen to you, Half-Breed." Turk, the eldest and boldest spoke haughtily, brushing his long sooty locks behind his ears in an almost vicious gesture to show off his impeccably formed elfin lobes.

"Princess Half-Breed," Jah simpered and smiled
-dumbly happy- at the flickering hate on her face before pulling at one of her light brown dog ears that stood daintily on her head. Narrowing her eyes Tarri smirked innocently as he jumped back whimpering.

She had jolted him with her aura.

"Look the pet doesn't like this conversation. Poor purty puppy. Wanna bone to make it all better pup?" Jah asked with an extra smooth smile on his face. He didn't like being made a fool of.

"What a wit." Tarri clapped before narrowing her eyes for the (counts mentally on fingers) 23,983,123, 454, 122. 2th time since they had come to the castle. She hated them. They were monstrosities.

Giving the full effect of praying she called out to the clouds with a voice full of false prayer, "Kami-sama, why give such physical power to ones' of so little mental."

She grinned at them as she pushed passed to enter the garden, seeing the look of amusement on some of the passing servants faces as they halted for a moment to survey her.

Her "beloved" cousins jumped out of her way with hasty reflexes as she crackled with witch power, complements of her **Hex mother.

1... 2... 3... she mentally commented, waiting for them to take her on. Like clockwork Jah uttered the first thing that came to his puny mind.

"Hey!!" An indignant bark was uttered as she turned back to them with a smile on her freckled face. Am I good, or am I good. She complemented herself on knowing them so well and then decided it wasn't worth all the praise in the world.

Jah was so predictable. At least Turk held some honor, decency, and brains in his head. He was annoying, but in a silent, contemplating way. It kept her on her toes. Jah was just so annoying, always running his mouth, stuttering and strutting. She could just hear his next comment, "You're a stupy pants." PUP!!!!

"Well... um..." He stumbled and then his green eyes narrowed with a smile, " Well, at least I am not a dirty nobody, like your welching mother and you. The stupid jinx died when giving birth to you. Even a muddy smeller like her didn't want you." Jah said with his eyes wide with anger and pride.

He knew her weakness, he had finally succeeded in pissing her off. Even Turk could see his foolishness. Now the Hex Hanyou would be mad, really mad.

Tarri narrowed her unusual watery blue eyes, the same shade as her dead mother's and said with an emotionless voice, without a hesitation or moment to think.

"At least MY mother wasn't a leg-spreading whore like yours. How many half-brothers do you have Jah? Twelve? Fifty? I lost count. I wouldn't be so quick to judge one's mother now would I?" Tarri snarled, feeling the anger roll off the boys in a rush as her powerful aura crackled around her in flashes of sizzling, intoxicated stormy blues with a hint of menacing red.

"Wow, Tarri that was witty... for a hanyou." Turk said easily, angry at the comments about his mother, not caring that his brother had started the fight, realizing that what she said was true.

"To bad we all know that your mother was a second rate hedge witch." he smirked as his cousin turned a pale white to rival the skin of her youkai sister that she hadn't been blessed with. Her eyes seemed to quiver, whether with her witch/youkai powers or tears; he couldn't quit guess.

"My mother was more powerful as a HUMAN than your mother is as a Full." Tarri advanced on them, her eyes becoming a pale purple as the demonic red leaked in.

She was irrational, her demonic side taking full swing, and Turk wondered if what he had said had been wise. Even if she was an hanyou, she was a force to be reckoned with.

"Tarri, I-I'm sorry..." Jah whined decrepitly as he too saw what his brother did, backing up slightly as she started to growl low and flat, her fangs bared and her hands fisted so tight that Turk could smell the blood they called forth from cutting her skin.

Jah yelped and jumped back as her aura leapt forward. Jah saw people gathered to watch this battle and he spotted some of his friends. This would never be forgotten, the day a hanyou got the better of...

he leapt out of a blast from her aura.

... him. If only he could survive this encounter to get to the teasing.

"My...."

Tarri threw out her hand and the cowering Jah and shocked Turk flew back into the castle's courtyard wall.

HARD!!!!

"MOTHER...."

Jah and Turk whimpered in pain/fright/hate as they flew away from the wall again...

"Was..."

Only to be slammed back into it again, stone crating into their backs/arms/legs. Jah started to cry from the pain.

Turk just watched her with mild respect shining in his pain filled eyes, letting the pain hide from behind his flimsy mask of emotionless nothing as his body protested with shuddering hurt up and down his body.

"NOT..."

Jah cried out, "I'm sorry... please... mercy."
Turk lost respect for his brother. They flew forward again. Turk could see the climax of power building in her spellbinding, maddened eyes.

"WEAK!!!!!!!!!"

She screamed with all the power she possessed, all the voice she held, and all the anger she felt as she threw them back so hard the whole wall shuddered and a piece of stone fell down and hit Jah in the head, knocking him out.

"But you, dear cousins are." Tarri spat and narrowed her eyes with pity, hurt, something more and nothing less.

With that said Tarri turned and walked away, seething anger in her very movements, as she passed the shocked and silent occupants of the stone courtyard on the way to her father's castle.

"That girl needs some serious anger management." Someone muttered, the Princess turned and glared at the boy with venom in her eyes.

"Crotch licker," She said low and dangerously over her shoulder as she made her way passed her scowling family members, the amused servants (who hated the cousins any ways) and some voiceless visitors.

She could feel their amusement and disgust at the fact that the future Dukes of the Northern Lands had been outdone, beaten, and left crushed upon the ground by none other than the youngest princess of the Northern Lands, a hanyou none the less.

One point for me. Tarri muttered angrily inside her head, wishing she was fully human so she would be aloud to be weak so she could cry, and stomped up the smooth stone steps and into the main hallway, smirking as she passed her Aunt Clara, the same leg-spreading whore she had so lovingly insulted earlier.

The smile was not returned.

Clara had watched the whole thing.

NORHT RIDGE PATHWAY; CARRIAGE #2 :

"Father what is the POINT of this trip?" a young male hanyou with white hair and dog ears whispered as his older brother sat, with all the elegance of a cold youkai Lord to be, across from him.

"Inu-Yasha complaining is what barbarians do. Be unvoiced if that is all you can utter." His father said sternly, a small smile spread across his alabaster features; hidden by the shadows of the carriage that rolled towards the castle in the distance.

Inu-yasha narrowed his eyes as he heard his brother cover a laugh with a cough. "WHAT BAKA?!?!" Inu-yasha growled, ears twitching as he glared at his older brother.

The elder boy leaned forward, still emotionless as his frigid golden eyes narrowed to show his brother his displeasure.

Inu-Yasha, the polar opposite of his brother, eyed him in wide eyed irritation, his emotions swirling in his eyes and rigid on his scowling, pissed off face.

"Baka?" the elder boy laughed, patting Inu-Yasha on the head, "How very quant. Comical really. I recall I heard Aunt Bithra's little pup, Chichi, use that precise word last week." The boy smirked as Inu-yasha, the BAKA, narrowed his eyes, giving him a ridiculous little kid look that made the forgotten young woman in the carriage start to giggle.

"Jennah!!!" Inu-yasha stopped the glaring contest with his elder brother to glare at his younger sister. She was a black haired pup of thirteen (or so she looked), her giggles rendering her younger, innocent.

"I think you lost Puppy-Poo." She said patting his head in an annoying manner. "Fluffy wins." She sang and "Fluffy" growled low with false arrogance, his sister did something to him that made him want to smile. Anyone else who called him **shiver** "FLUFFY" would die... and painfully.

"It's Sess-Maru-Sama to you gull." He chortled at his sister who bent her head and said in a tiny voice laced with laughter, "Oh forgive me oh cold and arrogant Taiyoukai. I am a trembling fool before your might."

Sess-Maru smiled at his sister as Inu-yasha coughed, "Thanks a lot Jennie." Sess-Maru wiped the smirking, yet gentle, smile from his aristocratic face and returned to peering out the window.

Jennie slapped "Puppy-Poo".

"Look what you did Baka Mutt. He was opening up too." Jennie frowned and turned away from her brother who was too confused to do anything but sulk some more. He yelped in pain when he was kicked.

"Look Inu-yasha, cease ruining this pathetically irksome peregrinate with your unsought vernacular. You have impoverish not only my time, and my exemplary humor, but our Lady Sister's as well. Be silent before you are rendered tacit." Sess-Maru spoke harshly, yet with a bored voice that he knew would annoy his brother to no end, the voice of an annoyed, irate Lord in the making that was about to punish those who didn't listen and obey. He also wished to smirk when his brother didn't seem to understand half the words he used.

Probably because the Baka was Baka and never took learning seriously, fighting this, battle that. Inu-yasha was a very physical and one-dimensional person in his opinion at least.

Jennie giggled behind her clawed hand as Inu-yasha looked like he was about to say something awe inspired by his all to human side. "Feh, you feminine pris..."

Sess narrowed his eyes, ready to verbalize another series of well chosen and advanced words but his father who had been sitting, and reading a letter from Lord Ru-Ah, looked up and smiled inwardly with approval at his inveterate heir.

His gaze then fell on his confused and shaking younger son. As much as he loved... no cared, for his son, he couldn't let Inu-Yasha grow up like some kind of low class youkai. He was to be a duke, already a young Lord as it was and it was time he acted his age.

"Son, you know better than to pout, that's a weak woman's hobby. Sess-Maru is to be Lord, but you are to be a Duke.
Learn how to voice yourself in such a way that people will heed what you say and actually want you to continue. You do not observe your Lady Sister sulking, ne?"

With that Lord Inutaiko (?) turned back to his letter, his mind on the planning that would be going into the request of his dear friend.

Sess-Maru smirked again at his pathetic brother. It was always a lesson with father, he sighed and turned to look out of the window again, no interest in the materializing and approaching palace. Or so one thought.

Key:

Hex: (I made this up) A type of witch that has unusual powers that are individualized, much like mutants. Unlike a miko who have powers similar to each other, a Hex has a random and varied amount of power as well as gifts.

Nothernlands: I know it is different in the show/anime but: The Northern lands are ruled by Lord Ru-Ah. He, like Sess's father, married a human, more realistically a common Hex Witch. He gave birth to Tarri and then his wife died in childbirth. He has never remarried. He has three children:

Ra-ahn (Heir)
Lihsha (Hur-Rah's twin/mated as well)
Tarri (hanyou- unmated)
