A/N: Alright I haven't written in a very long time and I'm warning you it might take me a while to update, because I get writers block a lot. Right now I have the next few chapters going on in my head, but if anyone has anything they think might go good in the story, by all means, tell me your ideas and they may be used. The, of course, I'll always thank you at the end of the chapter for you help. Anyway please let me know what you think.

Life after Death

 

 

Kagome hazily opened her eyes, `What?' She looked around slowly, everything was so clear, but for some reason she could hear nothing. Fire raging, Inuyasha yelling at her, `What is he saying? Why does he look so upset? What happened?' She remembered back to earlier.

They had been anticipating the battle for a while now and they had everyone possible there; Sesshoumaru, Jaken, Kouga, Miroku, Sango, Kirara, Shippou (as much as she protested, he could help some), Inuyasha, herself.

 

~Flashback~

 

“You pathetic humans always need to stop and rest, you're slowing me down…” Inuyasha ranted as he paced back and forth.

“Alright, Inuyasha, we'll stay here and eat and you can go off and fight Naraku on your own…” Miroku stated as he casually reached over attempting to rub Sango's butt. A loud slap rang throughout the camp and the monk hit the dirt.

The hanyou huffed, “Well, hurry up and eat, it's not like we have all damn day, the battle is going to be soon, I can feel it.”

Kagome sighed and handed Inuyasha his `ninja food' and he quickly shut up. Kagome continued to hand everyone their food as thought silently to herself about what she would do after the battle and what she would wish on the jewel for.

Before she could sit down to enjoy her food all the men stood up, and she spun around, “Jewel shards, and a lot of them…”

“Naraku…” Inuyasha spat out as if the name alone left a bad taste in his mouth.

Said hanyou walked into the clearing with Kanna and Kagura at each side and wasps up above, his evil cocky smirk never leaving his face, “Ready to die by my hand?”

Everyone gathered close to each other as they readied their weapons. Inuyasha shocked everyone as he began to bark orders, “Kouga get Kagome off to the side where she can shoot easily. Miroku you protect Kagome. Sango you stand on the opposite side of the clearing, if anything gets to close, use your sword. Kouga once you get Kagome set, get over here and help me. Sesshoumaru, I'm not even going to try to tell you to do anything for two reasons. One, you'll probably just do the opposite just to spite me, and two I'm sure you know already what needs to be done. Shippou go stand by your mother and use Fox Fire when anything gets close. Kirara take position by Sango and try to protect her. Let's move people!”

As much as everyone was surprised that Inuyasha was smarter than he look and had a pretty decent idea on what to do, they didn't hesitate to do as was ordered of them.

That's when Naraku decided to let the fight begin. Hordes of demons erupted from his body as he sat back for a bit to watch them tire themselves out before he would step in.

The fight lasted for hours, though it seemed like days, before they killed all of the demons Naraku let loose. All was going well at first Inuyasha's idea had been working well, but then something happened nobody had been expecting.

Rin ran into the clearing giggling, “Lord Sesshoumaru, Rin picked flowers for you.”

Naraku smirked to Sesshoumaru and without turning towards the young girl he shot out a tentacle. Sesshoumaru ran faster than ever before and picked the girl up just before the tentacle reached her, but he did not have enough time to move out of the way and it pierced through both of their chest, directly through their hearts. He fell down to his knees and looked down to Rin, her eyes were distant and clod, all the life that had once been held there, was no more, she was gone.

Three more tentacles pierced though Sesshoumaru before he fell back against a tree, it looked as if he was just resting against it, holding young Rin in his arms lovingly.

Kagome screamed as she shot an arrow directly at Narakus heart, though it was easily deflected.

Shippou took of towards Rin, his young mind not wanting to believe that Rin could possibly be dead. Kagome started to scream at Shippou to get back, but it fell on deaf ears. Sango heard Kagome and saw Shippou running towards certain death, “Kirara protect Shippou!”

Kirara ran quickly towards Shippou and jumped in front of him to protect him from a tentacle. Instead of hitting Shippou it cut down her neck easily cutting her head off. Shippou screamed as he saw another friend died before his eyes, but before anyone could move another tentacle lashed out and cut Shippou in half.

Kagome closed her eyes and screamed out her pain as best she could. Then she began to fire arrow after arrow towards Naraku.

Naraku easily deflecting them smirked as he saw Sango alone, `Perfect…They would all fall because of their weakness, love.' He shot out a tentacle toward Sango as for the second she was distracted. This was too easy; the only part annoying to him was Inuyasha and Kouga trying to attack him, though he just swatted them away like flies.

Miroku noticed the tentacle heading in Sango's direction. He took off running praying to all that was holy that he could get to her before it was too late.

He jumped in front of her arms spread out protectively, “Sango, my love, I was hoping to propose after we beat Naraku, but it doesn't look like I'll make it. Live and be happy Sango.” As soon as he finished the tentacle slashed him deeply through the chest.

Kagome couldn't take it anymore; she ran forth and continued to fire. That's when Naraku turned towards her and licked his lips.

Kouga screamed her name and ran towards her and jumped in front of her. He hit her hard shoving her to the ground; her head hit the ground it made a sickening cracking sound and everything went black.

 

~End Flashback~

 

She watched him running towards her panic written clearly on his face. All that could be heard as everything went slow motion was the sound of a heartbeat. She slowly lifted her head slightly back to see why he was so scared.

`Naraku…' she turned her head back to look around, everything was beginning to go in slow motion. A bleeding and dieing Sango, from quite a few holes in her chest, was bent over a dead Miroku, a giant slash down his chest were blood was seeping out of.

She turned her head, no longer able to look at the sight, but what she saw next was worse. Her adopted son, Shippou, lay on the ground if…half next to a beheaded Kirara. Tears streamed from her eyes as she looked back to her love, Inuyasha, just in time to see him jump on top of her. Her face held confusion as she looked into his beautiful eyes; Movement caught her eyes as she looked to his lips as he mouthed “I'm sorry…”

Just then a tentacle pierced through Inuyashas chest, blood flying onto Kagome's face and it seeping onto her torso. Her eyes went wide as his body went limp onto of her, `He died protecting me, they all did…'

Her hearing came back to her then as she heard Naraku laughing, “What will you do now, Miko? Who will protect you now?”

Kagome scanned the area with her eyes once more to seek for any survivors. Miroku lay under Sango, both dead. Shippou and Kirara lay both in pieces. A bit further out Sesshoumaru clutched Rin; they had both been pierced through the heart, both dead. Her eyes spotted Jaken, also beheaded. She caught sight of Kouga, not to far beside her, his dead and lifeless eyes looking into hers. She finally turned her gaze to the man on top of her, the love of her life.

`My family…' was her last thought as Naraku continued to laugh at her. A scream ripped throughout her body as everything went white.
